Many thanks to those who have contributed on this forum. Inputs have been very informative.

Folks, kindly educate me on this issue. My wife is planning to give birth in the US, and she is expected to leave Nigeria next month (May). She already has a US visa as she travelled twice last year. However, my son and I intend to join her in the States sometimes before or after her delivery.

Question (1): Would you advise that my son and I apply for the US visa before she leaves for the US (so we can all appear together) or after she gets to the US?

Question (2): Would she be required or allowed to join us during the visa interview since she is not a primary applicant?

Thank you.
I don't think it matters if you guys apply while she is in Nigeria or not,it doesn't make any difference where she is at the time of your application. Just tell them at interview that you guys are going to witness the birth of your baby and that your wife already has a visa. ( I'm assuming she told them at the interview that she was pregnant or that she was not pregnant at time of interview). It might also do you good to go with doctor, hospital correspondence and a photocopy of her visa page for interview .
She will not be allowed to enter with you guys for the interview

Hello house, i need advise.

Myself, wife and 3 years old son applied for US visa and we were asked if we plan giving birth which is said NO.

Visa was granted but the VO said if you give birth you will be ban for 5 years.

We plan giving birth in Houston.

My wife was invited by National Association of School Nurses to speak on their 48th Annual conference in Indianapolis.

I need advise from gurus in the house on how to go about the stuff.
I don't understand you o. The vo categorically asked you and you lied,so what advice do you need again? You were clearly told that if you use the visa for birthing ,you will be banned for 5yrs. There are no 2 ways about it,use it for birthing and face a 5yrs ban. Will advice you guys to just attend the conference your wife was invited for and come back home

Hello House.

So someone asked me about filing tax returns with an infant's SSN.The pros and cons. anyone who understands this very well should kindly educate me.( esp someone that has actually done it) Highly appreciated.
Which tax returns are you filling, are you a US citizen,do you pay tax in the US? If you are talking about giving your baby's SSN number to a friend or a family member to use to file tax returns, then that is a no no. It has been discussed extensively sometime ago on this thread, the disadvantages are enormous

Also planning to leave around 20th of Jan and also stay at intown suite. Visa not yet issued, my interview is on 14th. Have u already booked the suite, if so we're u able to book for the number of weeks u intend staying or u booked for 31nights as in their portal? I intend d staying for 8wks and now just was able to book the 31 nights and want to book another 31nights to make it up to 8wks so as to tally with the info I supplied on my application form. What's ur take and when are u due?
your 31 days booking will do for your visa interview,if they mention it just tell them that, thats was all you could do at that time and that you will extend the booking when you get there

I know I would. Been reading it off and on. It's just hard when you work 13 hours everyday. And time is not on my side too.
Anyways, maybe just have to go with an agent.
I just want to re emphasize the importance of this. Just as you have been advised here,DO NOT CONSIDER THE AGENT ROUTE. I know someone who is suffering a Us visa ban today just because an agent did his application. So when you are advised to read the thread its for your own good, because by the time you do,you yourself would have become a guru. best of luck

Thanks a bunch.
My bump is showing now though. As I am almost 20 weeks gone. I don't even know how to start the process as I feel that we should have tried getting the visa before even getting pregnant.

#sigh.

Any tips?
Number one advice, read this thread as much as you can,you will find all you need to know here

Good day all, I am trying to buy wiffy's ticket to Missouri,I got a deal of 270k for her and our 18month old daughter on wakanow website(Delta). I am skeptical abt dis because I av read it here that to change date or add ticket is not always easy with wakanow and co. Pls how can I buy directly from the airline , I av tried their(Delta airline)website but was not able to and i don't stay in Lagos. Please , is there a number I can call to book the flight? Secondly, the itinerary is atlanta - LA Guardia - Kansas city (Missouri). I kW the POE will be Atlanta but pls will her luggage be checked to her final destination or will she need to pick it in Atlanta first? I am just concerned about having to carry load with big belle and 18 month old child. Kindly help with these questions . thanks
Adding baby or changing dates on wakanow is usually a challenge as you rightly said. try and google delta airline lagos office contact, their phone No might come up. These days luggage's are collected at poe (Atlanta) and checked into your next flight even if you checked it to your final destination from lagos. it happened to me the last time I flew delta in july, checked bags at lagos to final destination which was new York, but just decided to double check when I got to Atlanta only for me to see my bags at baggage claim,na so I collect my bags jeje and checked it into newyork flight,so shine your eye o

Nothing do you,you can start buying stuff now and just address to yourself at soulcare address, the things are likely to be delivered after you get there, even if by special luck it gets there b4 you do,you can phone themat soulcare and inform them to collect and keep for you and you collect when you arrive.
yes most us sites accept 9ja visa debit card,so you are good to go.

Hi. Pls has anyone delivered multiples in Atlanta recently? I was recently rejected by one of the three popular Atlanta hospitals on this thread. I initially felt sad because all seemed to have been going well until they got my medical report stating that I am having triplets. I am under 20wks and intend to get into the US at 22wks.
Pls does anyone know of any 'multiple birth friendly' hospital in Atl that accepts foreign patients? Do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks.
Ha,shine your eye o,i dont think its all hospitals in the us that are equiped to handle triple birth o. I think their rejection of you might be a blessing in disguise if they are not equiped to handle it.A Couple of people on this thread have had triplets and they discussed the issue in detail, take time and read their post before you enter one chance o

Good evening house, i want to know my chance applying for a b1/b2 visa with my 2 years old son. My wife put to bed last week in Houston, she applied alone because we have been denied before as a family. Now i am thinking of reapplying to visit her during the Christmas Holiday. I am concern because i would love to go with my son who is just 2 years old.
I would say, " nothing ventured, nothing gained" just apply and pray for Gods grace. Do you have solid ties here at home that can convice them that you guys would come back home? Remember to go with a photo copy of your wife passport and all the other burden of proof. All the best

Hello awesome people, i have a question oh, my hubby is in the us presently, but will be in naija by the time i give birth, can i notarize the consent form on his behalf here? or can he do it in the us and give me when we see there in order to avoid spending money and time on sending the documents over to me in us when he gets back. urgentr responses please. thank you all.
No, you can not notarise the consent form on behalf of your husband, thats the essence of him doing it in front of a notary public. The only issue i see with him doing it in the US,is that every info has to be filled in the form before he signs it in front of the notary public and the notary public signs it too., e.g Babys name, babys date of birth etc and at this time you would still be heavily ,except they would allow him to leave it blank which i seriously doubt. So i think your best bet would be him doing it in 9ja when he gets back and send it to you

Hello everyone, pls I need advice on my visa renewal. I got my current visa for vacation but was pregnant at d time and declared it. I later sent a change of intent to d embassy as I didn't go on vacation anymore before porting for childbirth. Was meant to travel in December for a vacation but price of tickets are not smiling so considering cancelling. My visa expires in march and I'm due in may. My problem now is, will I ve a problem renewing d visa and going for another missionary journey, since I didn't use d first visa for vacation at all, just to give birth? Pls veterans ur advice will be seriously appreciated.
p

I would advice you to just go ahead and renew via drop box, worse case scenerio, they would invite you to come for interview and you go with evedence to show that you paid all your bill during your last missionary journey and you allsogo with burden of proof for this journey.

All the examples were people that have used there Visa at least once, didn't ce any1 dat have never used the Visa atall and sending the letter of "Change of intent". No be only me go waka come na... Clarify pls?
They are somethings you need to consider first, for example, were you asked if you were pregnant during your interview and you answered No? If you were asked and you lied, letter of change of intent might not help you o. Because i have heard of people that cbp officers calculated the day their visa was issued to their due date just to accertain if they were pregnant during their visa interview and they lied. But on the other hand,if you were not asked, then you can send them a change of intent letter and they will send you the generic reply or worse case scenerio they invite you to come for an interview and you go fully prepared with your borden of proof etc

JOIN ME IN PRAISING GOD I HAVE SEEN HIS GOODNESS.......

God is ever faithful, sang praises throughout my trip and i put God first in all I did.

To give back to the trend,

I got into houston yesterday 23rd thru London, flew BA ( was a good choice), Bought the ticket last min 21st was like 300k+

Lagos,
I checked in online, so i just went straight to Customs, my 1 baggage was checked, in it were powdered milk, Ogbono, crayfish, chilly pepper, Egusi (all grinded), then straight for my boarding pass, the lady who attended to me was super nice, I also asked for a wheelchair which helped me alot ( it was put on my boarding pass). went through fast track, no wheel chair was given to me at the lagos leg but went straight to board the plane.

London,
my name was already on the list for assistance for wheel chair and two other granmas, so we were each wheeled on different wheel chairs to the BA wheel chair assiatance roo, all our data were checked and entered (VIP treatment) grin. when the connecting flight to Houston was few mins to boarding, we were like 6 pple for the flight who were assisted with car cart to our boarding gate, all our passes already checked, boarding time came we went like VIPs.
The flight was also FAB no stress, but one of the air hostess was not nice she said i cld drink water from the toilet, i weak o shocked shocked shocked lipsrsealed, i almost insulted her, then i remembered dont let the devil spoil your joy. grin grin so i waka go o, as na only me waka come grin

Hoston,
My name was first on the list for wheelchair service no stress, straight to immigration to the front,

Cbp: hello, what are you here for
moi: for child birth
cbp: how much do you ve with you
moi: **** including money in my debit acct(nigeria) over 10k dollars, cash at hand less than 500dollars
cbp: ok, how long r u here for
moi: 10weeks
cbp: put your finger on the bio metrics
moi: did that
cbp: your face here, the machine was lowered( remember am on a wheel chair)
Moi: put my face.
cbp: stamped my passport no limit to stay.
Moi: thank you, collected my passport.

I used less than 3mins with the cbp. Although am a frequent US traveler.

no documents asked no second inspection but i went to customs cos of the amt.
I was asked how much i had in cash told the officer, my wheelchair helper(Tracy) then asked him 'are you good', he asked her 'r u', she said yes rolling her yes then he said you can go
went to baggage claim, Tracy helped with my baggage, then out.

I thank God for easy POE and journey mercies.

thank you guys on Nairaland for all the information. appreciate. mummies in Richmond holla at me lets hook up
You chop liver o. Entering all mighty Houston Poe with less than $500 Cash only,or am i seeing double?

Travel start and wakanow are not the best for people that are not too certain of their return dates, they might ask for an arm and a leg when the issues of date change and adding baby to ticket comes up,these sites are usually best for people that are certain of their return date.
