MrCrackles:I couldn't agree more ![]() As part of your independent-minded journey, many people will oppose you along the way. Some will oppose you by saying that you “can’t” do the things you’ve planned. Others will try to impose their own arbitrary rules on you. Others will be jealous of your success and try to bring you down to the level of average, so dealing with this critics will require wisdom. Most of the times you respond to critics, you should be reasonably polite. Force yourself to smile, and thank the person for sharing their opinion with you. It’s not always their fault—just remember that most people are threatened by revolutionary ideas. Once in a while they may even be right, so be sure you consider whether that is a possibility before writing it off. Other times, you should fight back. Your response shouldn’t usually be that strong, because negative thinkers can only rarely be persuaded to change their minds. Rather, your goal is just to stand your ground, making it clear that you believe in your goals and worldview, and won’t be taken down so easily. Tell them why they’re wrong, but do it in a subtle way. You can also choose more direct confrontation, but realize that you may be crucified for this strategy. Remember Martin Luther, the original one, when he was on trial for his life in the year 1520. Luther was asked if he would recant his unconventional writing. He took the question seriously and asked for a day to think about it. The next day he returned to the stand. His famous response, before being sentenced to death, made it clear that he wouldn’t back down I can and will not retract, for it is neither safe nor wise to do anything against conscience. Here I stand. I can do no other. God help me. The Inward Response Regardless of whether you shake the dust off your feet or strike back, your inward response to negativity should be the same. You IGNORE the critics, and do EXACTLY what you had planned. That’s it. Okay, there are a couple of other things. First, you have to deal with the inner stress of being alone. You’re not actually alone most of the time—lots of other people are dealing with the same kinds of challenges—but it certainly feels that way when you’re under attack. Secondly, you need a way to monitor your progress. When you’re working towards something important and facing opposition along the way, you need to know you’re on the way track. You do that with setting sub-goals—smaller accomplishments that lead to your big goal—and having regular times of reviewing how things are going. You can do this with a spreadsheet (I track my annual goals that way and use a quarterly review system), a journal, another master document, or whatever project management system works best for you. The point is you need to check in fairly often to maintain your own motivation when the going gets tough. Peace out ![]() |

mubowa:typical hysterical, when the ability to see reasons has being impaired by prejudice and irrationality, when you are not capable of confronting an issue, you resort to vulgar and abusive languages, this really show how shallow and lacking in substance you really are. I mean the ability to read and decipher a message make me feel you suffer from a sub-normal intelligence. While you are still in that your toronto school, please do well as to work on your tenses as highlighted, we are just trying to help you out ![]() kristos:Nevamind the ignorant brat, i'm used to hearing spewing words coming out from mouth of those who claims to be educated ![]() |
eina:Dude, your thread shows you neither have the money nor the brains to run your show, maybe you are just another dumbo as she claims. My best advice to you is to politely excuse yourself and take a long walk ![]() |
What a metaphor, one has been Erased (abacha) the other is on the Sidelines -siddon look (t.y danjuma) the other two are Busy chopping from the draft board (Nigeria) . Truly a picture is worth a thousand words, or more. Lets keep praying .

not even yr wife but girlfriend, nawa for this kind dumbo, is that your definition of love?? i smell insecurity on her part. How about when you quit the modeling thing then she dumps you for another dumbo , bera wake up and splash some realities on your face and make her realize that this is what you want, it's either she's in or out, meanwhile lets see your picture to really ascertain your looks ![]() |
my broda you are not far from the truth jare, as if all these peeps claiming to fight corruption here wouldn't have done same if the opportunity avails itself ![]() |
i couldn't agree more to the hand bag thing, it's only fair if they come with a small wallet containing only 3 packs of condom and their transport money back home ![]() lets go a little deeper. Now i know most men, or rather, the myth is that most men like their women well endowed in the chest region. Much as i agree with this to a certain extent, i can live with a small chested woman as long as i like the woman herself. I don't know what it is with women and push up bras?? If you have proceeded 'southward', beyond repair, why not stay away from plunging tops with push up bras ??Some necklines should not go below a certain point especially with sagging boobs. I believe such women should focus on other assets like their legs, waistlines, arms, etc. If you are not naturally well ''stacked'' or ''childbirth or weight loss'' has been unkind to you leaving stretch marks on the said boobs why would you want to still expose it for all to see ?? i just don't get it, it just like a pot-bellied men should avoid tight shirt, it is not a pretty sight. Not to talk of this weavon vs wig stuff, gawd, i really miss the bounce, texture and most of all playing with the natural hairs .. |
citizenY:Dude, there absolutely nothing to worry. Now lets be logical, amid the usual lamentation that failed leadership and monumental corruption have been responsible for our myraids of woes, lets us call to mind the concept of limited government as one of the viable option to adopt in trying to fix Nigeria. Limited government simply means allowing government to do those things which it has the competence to do, or, conversely, letting the citizens do those things which they can completely do very well without involving the government or put it differently, the federal government should concentrates it efforts in maintaining defence/national military, establishment of monetary systems, maintenance of the judiciary and all that, where, if you like, it enjoys a relatively economies of scale and then seeks the partnership of private organisations in telecommunication, health, security of lives and property, eduation, physical infrastructure, power supply where it has consistently and woefully failed over the years. Oftentimes we perceive government as an omnipotent and omniscience institution with the competence to do everything under the sun. And with this false illusion, or carried away by self-conceit, government keeps on boasting that it can do marvelous things. Come tomorrow or even later today oratorical speeches will be delivered across the land on the greatness of Nigeria, on our failed dreams, our promises and the great things which Yaradua has done or is capable of doing. Prayer will be said. then after tomorrow or may be a few days from now, we will go back to our vomit. that is the definition of government in Nigeria but the truth remains that government cannot do everything including those things it claims it can. why 1. It dosen't have the competence to do everything. 2. Even those things it claims it purportedly has the competence to do, it has failed to do owing to corruption, greed and lust for power. 21st century approach to development is more concerned in getting the people to use their talents to improve their lives and to put food on the table for members of their families and all that. The major function of any responsible government is to create the enabling environment in which the citizens can achieve their potentials. For instance, if there were electricity, pipe-borne water, and good roads in Nigeria, you would agree with me that poverty would not have been so excruciating. The barber does not need a government job nor a bank job for suvival, all he needs constant electricity supply to put food on his table so goes for every little enterpreneurer. The right economic and political freedom must flourish in creating a favourable environment. Government badly needs the assistance of private organisation in order to get many things right. Look at a typical example of how are government operates, a PHCN official came to our premises to disconnect electricity supply. Conversing with him it was obvious that poor fellow lacked the capacity to reason. he sheepishly came to carry out an instruction from a superior boss. No initiative, No reasoning, No common sence. That is government for you. In Nigeria government suffocates. so instead of further enlarging the already suffocating government with excessive functions to the detriment of socio-economic and political order, it is high time private association, churches, mosques, NGOs, cultural and educational trusts, voluntary agencies started getting involved in the country's development projects. |

Dialup:don't mind the arrogant bastard, i can remember when this fool was the then minister for communication, during the military regime, when nigerians were agitating for GSM usage like our neighbouring country, Ghana , he said GSM was not for poor people . |
Since the federal governmwnt declared this amnesty, there has been noticeable frenzy on the part of some governors and politician from the affected states to out do each other in an attempt to capture public imagination and retain presidential attention as one that delivered the most militants. It's so disgusting to watch militants parades and photo shoots by the state governors and top government officials that have practically abandoned state functions. see all the crooks called politician engage militants in talks, conferences and negotiation as though their primary function is to capture millitants and hand them over to yaradua, one begin to wonder why they waited for the federal government to declare it before jumping at it. The amnesty has at best an ill conceived initiative packaged as a favor and delivered to the people of niger delta as a take it or be damned policy, for the politicians, the crises presents a ready opportunity to negotiate the creation of intervention agencies with bloated budgetary and extra budgetary votes that will be fritered away in corruption infested ministries like NNDC, PTDF and the newly created ministry of niger delta. For the chief and elders of the region, the crises present an opportunity for relevance and quick cash. Its really a shame ![]() |
