Chibuking81: Okomu oil will be the next stock to watch in the nearest future, after that of Oando, Transcorp and Eterna.Emmm...why Okomu? |

Dumexoga: People are busy discouraging others not to buy oando, telling them that the cop deal may not be finalized, and they are busy buying the stocks. Instead of people to be wise, they listening to them. This guys spreading this rumor that oando may likely not make thecop deal, will at last make money from these guys they have succeeded in deceiving, because by the time it starts appreciating, they won't sell until they have made huge amount of money. People please be wise and enter oando now.First, I think its funny that some investors who have the firepower to purchase 1m units of OANDO @ N17 would have the luxury of time to respond to the jesting that goes on on Nairaland. Second, considering our dense religious society its not strange that one investor is able to magically know that I've got OANDO in my portfolio. ![]() |

mercylicious: In stock mkt, u don't lose till you sell.dt d price dropped doesn't mean u have lost, bt if u sell, dts it.Look for a stock that's NOT in the news and put it there. |
At the NSE, December is happening in January. Move your projections forward by @ least 6 weeks. NEW NORMAL. |
Dumexoga: Honestly, it baffles me when people sit down to criticize while others are making money. We human beings are used to it I don't know why. People are busy making money and you see it working for them, and you are trying to discourage them. The only thing you can do is to advice people to thread cautiously and not confuse them with reports. I bought one million unit of oando at 17.14k and that same day it fell to 16.49k and within a week it fell to 14naira flat, but I was so confident because I know that this COP deal will turn things around. Now I am making over a million daily from oando and you want me to exit? Infact I will buy more million unit on Monday if I can get it and japaul also. Please if there is anybody willing to sell japaul am interested in buying.Since you're in love with JAPAULOIL and you're convinced its a long-term play, I'm offering 100,000 units of my holdings at N4 per share. You can buy from me at that price then offload at N8... ![]() |
chillykelly86: Dumexoga, I don't think this post of yours is appropriate. Everybody's opinion about a stock must not be the same. And on this thread, I have discovered a mature disposition to accommodate opposing views. We should all try to exhibit such maturity. What if the Oando-ConocoPhilips' deal NEVER goes through? Will you still want the stock? My personal answer is YES...It will be nice to see the deal not go through. Then everybody who went in cos of the deal will rush for the exit, while I load up on the stock! This pattern keeps repeating itself every time in the business of investing...For crying out loud, OANDO was trading above N50 in 2011... OANDO's not a short-term play!

Toluway: Fellow investors somebody has been repeatedly telling us here that Transcorps will soon go into re-construction. The fundamentals are ok and I intend taking a position. But i am worried by this re construction alert. Pls my ogas what do you say ?My recommendation is a quip from George Soros; "Money is made by discounting the obvious and betting on the unexpected." Every investor on nairaland might have a single view of Transcorp's future while the set of real outcomes may turn out to be practically infinite...Probabilities are not constant. Lemme give you one scenario to play with which is not a remote possibility: Transcorp, to a great extent, is wrapped around Mr. T's thumb and of course he's a nice guy and I wish him well, but if anything happens to him... |
economia: I HAVE SENT IT AGAINReceived! I'll contact you within the week... |
economia: I have drop my number in ur email boxHaven't seen your number yet... PIs check |
Toluway: Can you imagin my broker, meritrade could not sell a stock like Cadbury for me since thursday even though the stock has been really appreciating. I thought Cadbury is a big stock. Pls whats your opinion ?The market has different players who are differentially motivated. Its possible that no retail investor is available to buy your shares. Or no institutional investor is willing to accept the (small) number of shares being offered at current prices, as it probably doesn't make sound (business) sense to do so. Different motivations... |
economia: ple I need to sell costain, how can I transfer it to u asap?Lemme speak with my brokers. But gimme your phone number so I can contact u directly: info.thedexgroup@gmail.com |
economia: costain is totally down, am am still unable to sell for about a week. should i hold or make further effort to sell?I'd gladly BUY COSTAIN from anybody here please. Lemme Know... |
stockbull: costain is in problem.c and i leasing is getting stronger on the bourseI'm long COSTAIN; 155,000 units. The further it falls, the more I load up! |
princemolak: thanks For this wonderful analysis Bro,will u mind gvn me a little analysis of ;NEM? No comment. FIDSON....I cashed out this yr on the stock. Guess you're aware of their new factory at Ogun state and the WHO pre qualification coming up in 2014. Might be a good play but u need a lower entry price than current levels. Also consider your horizon. UBACAP.....I uphold the same views I expressed on AFRIPRUD. LIVESTOCK.....until uacn stepped in, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 ft pole. UACN now owns 51% as u know and a complete take over is what I'm betting on. Of course its a long term play. As a company on its own, Livestock feeds is a market where the demand-supply dynamics is tilting in its favour. |
bigass: thanks for the analysis, is seplat coming to the market? lest i forget CILeasing biko?Yep! Seplat might be rolling out the drums next yr. CILeasing? No comment. |
mercylicious: Am heavy wit ubcap, but I bought most of my stcoks for 2014, so I get confused wether to sell or not when the price appreciates. What if I sell and it does not fall below my selling price again. You can 'phase' the trade. Depending on position size, you could liquidate in 3 phases (and re-enter each stage with a percentage of the profits). Also depends on your investment horizon. If you've bought them for 2014, then you must have a scenario in play... Liquidity storm maybe? |
Like playing poker, every investment scenario is relative to the cards on the table and to what other players are holding (which of course is hidden from your view, so information is asymmetric). I could have a pair of Aces (A-A, which is the highest pair of cards) and think I've won the hand....then the CBN comes up with a three-of-a-kind policy (especially 2-2-2). Of course, in this state of play, the CBN wins! No matter how much I had on the table.... ![]() |
bigass: I have 11 shares here, which ones can you advise me to invest into for short term1. AFRIPRUD. You might have to wait on new IPO/Rights Issues/Market Deals to profit from AFRIPRUD...In the short term, that's a long shot, unfortunately. But if the oily peeps at SEPLAT hire them for their future listing and recommend them to other indigenous oil dudes (who may come to market soon), you know how far...... 2. COSTAIN. Cyclic stock. So you might have to take that into consideration as you take positions. Their end-of-year is 31st March if I'm correct. So you may target PAT bets...And we're getting into the dry season (ripe for construction activities......). Whatever you do, don't be caught with the COSTAIN shit-bag by the last week of Q1 2014. The stock just hit rock bottom and its on its way up to Jan 2012 highs....If pre-election sentiment sets in too early, and a liquidity storm is set up, it might breach the 2012 resistance. I'm taking a position before the week runs out. Disclaimer: I don't work for COSTAIN WA. 3. ASHAKA. Cyclic stock. I've not followed this actively. You might deduce a few points from 2 above. 4. ETERNA. No comment. [If you have reliable data on aviation energy/fuel dynamics, and playing ETERNA puts you in positive expectation, then fly baby...] 5. JOS BREWERIES. Highly speculative due to debt repayments. But obvious avenues for business profits do not translate to obvious avenues for investment returns. Could lose steam anytime... 6. LIVESTOCK. I already own 20,000 units here, so invariably, any comment will be biased, since humans tend to treasure stuff they own than what they don't own. Trust me. [If you still want to peruse biased comments, holla back...] 7. OANDO. Let's play a counter-factual scenario: What if the Oando-ConocoPhilips' deal NEVER goes through? Will you still want the stock? My personal answer is YES...Look at all Local Content directions in the O&G industry from Argentina to Nigeria...Imagine the force of price gravity pulling OANDO to MRS/FORTE OIL/MOBIL price levels......need I say more? [Unfortunately, this may be a long-term play, say 15-18 months. Of course it could be as short as 6months too, with corrections in btw.] 8. SKYE BANK. No comment. Seriously..... 9. TRANSCORP. Long-term play. Seriously. They need capital (heavy capital) to bring their dreams to reality. And if anything bad happens to Mr. T, OMG!!! 10. UAC-P. Long-term play. Good store of value though...Definitely not a growth stock. 11. UNITYBANK. If you're in love with EcoBank, then rock this stock to the centre of the earth baby! Unless somebody else proves to love UNITY more than ETI. Then considerations might be different. |
courage89: Dont forget that Oando currently has some producing asset (~5000 barrels/day). Assuming they're able to close the cop deal today, it will raise their production level right away. This will have positive impact on their consequent cash flow, earnings and quaterly/ fiscal year guidance. They dont have to wait 18 months to see the impact of the deal.Company profits and losses relate in a non-linear way to asset changes. Like someone said, obvious prospects for growth in a business do not translate into obvious profits for investors. For instance, what is the current condition of the oil assets in play? Will they start producing immediately the deal is sealed? How will the interest rate decisions by the Fed affect the interest payments on Oando's dollar-denominated debt? .......... |
Whether OANDO closes the ConocoPhilips' deal or not, the most realistic investment horizon for that stock is not less than 18 months. TRANSCORP and others might get into new Gas Supply Agreements with OANDO in the medium term. Someone recently speculated in this space that TRANSCORP will do a stock buyback. This is very unlikely considering they need all the capital they can get to get Ughelli running at full capacity before eventually reaching their megawatt projections. UACN is a great company to watch out for. The recent stake acquisition by Famous Brands of SA is a pointer. I'm long LIVESTOCK. Started out with 20,000 units during the correction cycle that started in late July. |
mercylicious: I just bailed out from Unity. U need to read the analysis by Ugodre on Unity. The report said dt despite the wonderful performance in 2012, it will take them 2 years of similar performance to be able to pay dividend as they have negative retained earning. They also have a very high no of outstanding shares. I waited for the mkt to prove him wrong but even with the 1st quarter result and subsequent news, the mkt is not in its favour. With the news of increase in CRR, I bailed out frm the stock as its very weak. From this point on, only good news can move the stock - bad news can't touch you anymore. Think about investing in it in an asymmetrical way; depending on what your entry price was, you can capture all the possible upside that is possible on Unity Bank and you'll have almost zero downside. All you need is just one piece of good news (for example, African Capital Alliance decides to play dice with Unity Bank), and you'll see the over-reaction of the market! At that point you'll observe that investing is more a psychological game than a mathematical one. The final decision is yours anyway. |
