yes but my own emphasis is on when most londoners get back to nigeria, they don't tell the truth, whats the point of working yourself to near death to buy clothes and shoes for like ten people?or make it an obligation to spend thousands everyday on alcohol when you know you r coming back to suffer for it?
i know boys who live in a shared flat and drive bangers here and have audi tt,mercedes benz e.t.c in lagos, and no other investment also most people are fond of showing they v arrived rather than telling it as it is,why dyu think people will work all hours, save as much as possible or get involved in all sorts of scams just to go to nigeria for 3 weeks, paint the town red and then back to balancing up again
I don't believe you! how exactly do you know what most Londoners do when they go on HOLIDAY, people usually spend more than necessary when they are on holidays anyway, you don't exactly gather everyone around and tell them you are a student doing part-time work do you?

I know of illegal/legal immigrants working their butt off, living in shared flats here who own houses in nigeria sending their kids to private universities, are they also showing off?

I understand some people do scams run to nigeria to blow their money but they are also thousands working legitimately, saving for their HOLIDAY in nigeria, its good for the economy right?

This thing don tire me o,its not easy at all.And i heard gettin a part-time job in london isnt easy to come by even as a student but then scotland could be so quiet and lonely, especially stirling.Back2 square 1
see nowhere and nothing is easy so you better man up and stop looking for Mr. easy, remember you are not the only student coming from naija, thousands are coming from india, pakistan, ghana and so on, you all have equal chance of getting a part time job as a student. It likes everywhere else you dont get things on a plate of gold you need some effort

Try Reading or Aston from the list above!! go full throttle stop dithering or else this September will just come n go!

Even with all the negative threads about UK, how many threads do you read
about people abandoning their visa applications?
Travel › Re: This Uk Sef by DisGuy(mod): 6:28pm On Jul 06, 2008
Nigerian in UK needs to stop showing Nigerians at home that it easy because let face it, it not. There a credit crunch on.
All over this site I haven't seen anyone specifically saying/showing it's easy to live in the UK or anywhere else,

lucabrasi:
if you ask me i think its our own fault, when people ask me what its like i tell them straight up and then pray for them or curse whicever way they want to see it that by the special grace of GOD,they will collect at worse 1 week visa even 3 days to see things for themselves and then self judge grin
nigerians will save the whole year just to oppress people for 2 weeks, without any charity work or anything meaningful
some people wont know until they experience it so whatever you tell them is just part of the whole equation
people don't really praise the UK out of proportion

You seem to be so naive of the impact the Olympics had on Obi and Messi's career. By the way do you know how many people watch the olympics? Or are you Obi's fan before the Olypmpics at Netherland? May be. But millions got to know Obi at the Olympics for the first time. So Olympics is a big game if not the biggest game in the world. Football at the olympics can be rated great following that submission.
I still don't get it, Olympic football is like an U21 tournament, perhaps we are looking to earn easy brownie points with the Olympics and get some players on the market undecided

millions of people watch the Olympics not necessarily for the football though

people mainly make the united kingdom their destination because its english speaking and also compared to the united states its easier to obtain the visas, also its only 6 hours and has a large number of nigerians, nigerian restaurant, market e.t.c so u know its almost like being home, as for the number of nigerians in the uk,i don't see anything near accurate on here yet so i wont even comment people trying to come to uk are not doing anything wrong as migration has been going on since the 1960s the only thing is that i think potential travellers should know the reality of things in the uk and know what to expect
i think most of them refuse to take it on board or as the Nigerians we are, we believe if you are not rushing back home then there must be 'something' there!

Politics › Re: Soldiers On Strike: Trason, Mutiny Or Rightful Protest by DisGuy: 2:12pm On Jul 05, 2008
There was fear in other parts of Akure as residents stayed indoors on hearing that soldiers were on a public protest. The protest, which started around 3p.m, lasted till 6p.m, as the soldiers who were chanting war songs forced motorists coming into Akure to turn back. They also stopped motorists travelling outside the state capital.
Good on them! i wish all Nigerians could do this, block Abuja with a massive trailer, especially the road to the airport!

what's the big deal playing football in the Olympics? football players don't count that as a big achievement! except Nigerian players!

I think people should be more interested in what the bank or any company hiring them has to offer
i wonder if these banks promote their staff as at when due or know the staff turnover ratio!!

If you saw Fasuba's interview, he ststed clearly that he doesn't expect to keep on winning and that he's happy there's 'competition'. The guy says he's stressed after so many meets. Moreover he says he looks forward to the Olympics - to him, qualification is just what matters now at the meet
more like he is stressed after so many parties- you know he got a chieftaincy title after his world indoor medal right lol
invited here and there to hail the 'new king'

bolts and co qualified since the beginning of the year, they are still going all out!

the 20k walk was really sad! when they finished the race 90% of the athletes in the stadium left already

never heard of it, thought the old one never really go to people anyway

“Accordingly, to achieve this objective, the Commission is focused on expanding, extending and enhancing existing identity infrastructure and where necessary exiting obsolete technology and processes in order to establish a reliable, secure and scalable identity management system infrastructure that utilises advanced biometric technologies to uniquely identify every individual in the country.

“This strategy is what we have code- named 4Es through, which we ultimately hope to deliver in partnership with the private sector, a National ID Management System infrastructure upgrade that is consumer focused and sustainable,”

@Dis Guy, i disagree. If the CCTVs are used to actually sucessfully prosecute criminals, who one earth would want to be commiting a crime in front of CCTVs? They have worked as a deterrent in quite a few countries. If CCTVs are places strategically in the central business district for instance, after a few weeks of well publicised busts by the police with the aid of CCTV and the word is out, who would want to go and take free photo when he is commiting a crime?
i agree they are used to prosecute criminals but haven't you heard of balaclavas?
I think it will be very useful if they are used immediately to trace vehicles/vans involved in robberies
at best they will reduce minor disorder; like traffic ffences, illegal car parking, refuse dumping etc
if they are used at a local level-councils, wards and so on

another 'new' ID card scheme?

the problem with CCTV are they don't really prevent crime. Hopefully they can publish the criminals/offenders
nationwide on TV or newspapers!

Foreign Affairs › Re: Mandela's Involment, A Great Example For African Leaders by DisGuy: 7:38pm On Jul 02, 2008
the criticism i don't get is, people blaming african leaders for not 'talking'

only few of them are elected fairly and most of them don't even have influence on Zimbabwe!
what does Ghana, Togo, Uganda, Egypt and many countries have to say to Mugabe, its not as if he is even listening
the west have been 'talking' way before 2005 he still didn't bulge.
Nigeria probably doesn't even trade with Zimbabwe

one part of international politics i still don't get is the press statement that usually reads
" we condemn this blah blah blah" then that's usually the end of it

BTW many European countries are still in Zimbabwe trading doing business, paying tax to the same regime
under the guise they are employing locals
Zimbabwe is still printing its billion notes from Germany!

they either get him out by force or wait for him to kpai!

Bush is threatening an arms embargo, what were they waiting for
the last shipment from Yankee suppliers?
