Either of the devices will do, but what you should be more concerned with is the data plans available.
512kbps will give you at best a download speed of 64KB/s that would translate to about 5.2 GB daily if you download for 24 hours of the day. Considering that, I think the Airtel 3GB daily is better.
Compare the plans side by side for a better analysis. Just the price of the router is not enough.
I should also add that the stability of each of these networks in your areas of usage will be another factor. |

Politics › Re: Four West African Countries To Buy Nigeria’s Idle Electricity by dochenaj: 9:42am On Jun 13, 2021 |
adanny01: These are private businesses, you can't force them to do more infrastructure. They will welcome anyone who will do it for them. In fact, NIPP did it before they went private. The Nigerian Rural Electrification Agency still do it. Local governments and even state governments do it. Infact, individuals do it. The DISCOs only do it when there is a huge revenue potential.
NERC only regulates them but to a limit. NERC always budge under pressure from the DISCOs. This infrastructure problem is just a tip of the iceberg, the problems are far many.
NBC abi na NCC couldn't force DSTV to implement Pay-per-view, its the same here.
For the fact that we don't produce the electricity equipment, relying on import is another huge problem. We import as little as wires, we also get to import transformers. All these depends on foreign exchange so you can imagine how a transformer that was N1m some years ago is N2m now. If NERC is truly committed to their role as a regulatory commission, they should be able to mitigate these problems. It is not entirely hopeless. You sound very informed about the sector. How is that so? |

Politics › Re: Four West African Countries To Buy Nigeria’s Idle Electricity by dochenaj: 4:33pm On Jun 11, 2021 |
adanny01: Have you forgotten that distribution of electricity is in private hands?
Ask anyone who uses 33kV lines for power supply, they get 22-24hrs electricity per day except when there is a system failure in the national grid. The reason is that 33kV, 132kV and 330kV networks are under the TCN while 11kV and 415V are under the DISCOs where you have the serious supply problems.
The problem is lack of adequate power transformers and bad 415V network. Build a house today 500m from the last 415V pole, you will be totally responsible for extending the service to your house. A lot of people will use substandard wires for their own usage but years down the line, that house becomes a community without any upgrade to the wire that was meant for 1 house. That community begins to affect the transformer.
It i well known that DISCOs don't buy power transformers or cables and poles for communities. Everyone is on his own with that regard, as such these things are being over loaded. They end up having to turn off the electricity for the systems to cool off or they simply cannot turn on the electricity for every one at the same time.
In summary, the power is there but the DISCOs cannot use all of it because of inadequate infrastructure at their end. Very enlightening and interestingly simple. So the problem is the DISCOs, and it is common knowledge? Why can't the government, notably the Ministry of Power do something about it? If the NCC can sanction private telecommunication companies and NBC, broadcasting companies. Why can't the government set up a commission that looks into all the various power companies and sanction the failing DISCOs and get them to get their act together? |

adanny01: The first page is filled with ignorant comments as with 90% of the threads on NL.
Power problems in Nigeria is mostly distribution issues and not generation. Secondly, transmission is the second but far smaller problem.
That means Nigeria can afford to sell unused generated power. And the distribution issues cannot be solved? It is an NP-complete problem, right? So why should we waste our energy on that, let's just build transmission lines and sell the power. |

This post is so saddening that it is should make any sane Nigerian cry.
In my area in Lagos, I can barely boast of 5 hours of power daily for the past few months but yet we have unutilized power to sell to neighboring countries.
We sell electricity to generate foreign revenue but we don't have electricity to promote industrialization that will revamp our economy in it's entirety.
Is this not madness? |

Which kind of backwards and anachronistic order is this?
Even the criminal does have a right to stand trial
It is only on the occasion, where the criminal resists arrest and returns fire and your life is threatened that a security personnel should return fire, even at that non-fatal shots are preferred.
It is only in Nigeria that police and other security outfits shoot people without having to be investigated.
Who is to say, that the criminal police does not kill anyone they like and plant an AK-47 on them? Think about it. |

omolola100: My mother advice me never to look for a rich man who is well do whenever i'm set to get married. she said i should marry a man that we will both start our life from the foundation, according to my mum, she said it is better to suffer with man to acquire wealth, than to go for a ready made soup.
Looking at the way things are going now, do you think a woman will now stoop so low and marry a poor man that is trying to make ends meet? Although, money is not love, but why would a parent wish her daughter to marry a poor man, i am begining to see my mum as a bad mother who does'nt wish me well. Is it advisable i follow my mothers advice? I should stay in SURULERE instead of OLORUNSOGO. Your mother is wise, and does have a point. But finances should never be the premise for choosing a life partner. That is the moral of the story. I actually will prefer a man who is not very well to do yet, but has prospects, to a rich man for my daughter. Lest he finds himself thinking, she married him because of his money. |

Politics › Re: The Senate Is The Problem Of Nigeria, Not Buhari by dochenaj: 10:27pm On Jun 07, 2021 |
In Nigeria we play "my brother" politics even when "my brother" doesn't benefit you. Why? Because the political class has brainwashed us with the mentality of "Us vs Them". The North is worse off throughout Buhari's presidency but if there was a third term, the average northerner would vote Buhari over a credible Southerner yet again. When I see ordinary and average people with no access to people in the political class agitating for the zoning of president to their region I just laugh, because even if that is the case your life will not be any better. For me, if the Late President Umaru Musa Yaradua contested against any politician from my state, I'll vote Yaradua. With no iota of doubt there is no way, a northern senator will move to impeach Buhari, if any tried it, his constituents will recall him in a twinkling of an eye. |

A country with no rule of law is bound to fail.
When Twitter went to Ghana to establish their HQ people were screaming to high heavens. That why Ghana when Nigeria had millions of Twitter users.
But there is this adage that what an elder sees while sitting down, a child will not see it even if he climbs the tallest iroko tree.
Twitter has been justified by choosing Ghana over Nigeria.
Imagine if Twitter HQ was in Nigeria, DSS would have gone there and shutdown their operations without any court order.
In Nigeria the president is Executive, Legislature and Judiciary all in one. |
