1. Majority of Nigerian men enter into these same hypogamous unions for the sake of sitting as lords and providers to their women. --- some of them literally go out of their way to ensure the women have nothing to their name in order that they can beat their chests as providers ---- so how can any sane individual pretend the women are to blame? undecided

2. So she should sit back and continue as a dependent on her husband then? undecided

Even the story says that the man was always out late in the night drinking with his friends. That shows he was never a responsible husband. Some of these men always think that the grass is green at the other side. In my opinion, I don't think the woman lost anything good, cuz he was never a responsible man. She should give him time to return home, then if he doesn't, she will surely move on and be fine.
Lol

How can everything be fine, when Nigerian women are dependent on their husband.

If she moves on, she will suffer financial consequences grin

Is that your yardstick you use in measuring a good leader

If your ideology is anything to go by, then we are doomed as a nation.

Only in Africa such nonsense style of leadership exist, where a wicked and greedy soul will use money to buy peoples conscience so they can do his bidding and the most painful part is that, all these are done with tax payers money.

Dear Nairalanders,
I’m in a dilemma and need your advice
There’s this friend of mine who out of the blue contacted me last year October asking for a favor to come stay at my place a couple of days since she had an interview in Abuja. I allowed in her without hesitation since I thought it was just going to be a few days. Fortunately, she got the job.

When she got the job in October, she asked me to pls allow her stay for two months before getting her place. My people, it’s been five months already and she’s still not making any moves to get her own place.

The problem really is I am currently jobless. She doesn’t contribute anything to the house. I am responsible for our feeding, gas, electricity, everything! And I do not have money. The little money I have is from my generous elder sister who has been my helper since I lost my job. Weekends she sleeps all through while I clean the house. I also do all the cooking. She doesn’t cook.

I am a light sleeper so I get up at any slight movement. This lady gets up between 3 to 4 times every night to use the restroom thus keeping me awake all through the night. This really has a toll on me. During the day she goes to the restroom between 14 to 16 times. She doesn’t contribute to buy foodstuff but she eats 4 times a day

What have I gotten myself into. Please how do I politely ask her to leave without hurting her feelings and savaging the relationship I use to have with her. I am tired, depressed and jobless!
You have to tell her point blank, on how jobless you are and have no money.

From the little money your sister sends you, you should started a business with it, no matter how little, even if it is a pos business.

Not necessarily you must work in an office or white-collar job.

How is this intimidation? We should be learned enough to know the difference between 'Sensitization and intimidation '.

I listened to the voicenote yesterday. The man said:

“If we take the number of people here, we will not be less than 60, but only 20 have PVCs; what is happening to the rest?"

It is a community(ward) meeting and he has every right to question the low numbers of PVC holders. You people will understand what structure is in few days time. It is same in every state.

I spoke to my community Chief few days ago, and he said same thing. He said there was a directive straight from the state government that the number of vote you deliver will determine the level of infrastructure you will get in return after election. So this community head has every right to question why his people refused to collect their PVC to vote.

Leave internet and witness the reality on the street yourself. The structures are aligning.

Una go cry tire.
If you call this sensitisation, then am afraid that the money spent on your education was a waste.

Well that is not what governance is all about, if this is how western countries ruled their people, then they wouldn't have gotten to where they are now.

Family › Re: The Collapse Of Family Is The Collapse Of Society by Dshocker(m): 1:13am On Feb 14, 2023
atheistandproud:
The collapse of the family structure in society will always predate the collapse of a society. This is usually one of the signs to look out for. In communities where the family structure has completely broken down, society deteriorates with it.

You can't fix this one with a swoosh of a magic wand.(donotcopy) This is because this problem is a oroborosian one. The breakdown of the family structure exacerbates the breakdown of society which in turn causes the family structure to breakdown even faster.

In Nigeria here, with the introduction of celebrity culture and the internet going into full swing at some point in the mid 2000s, it only served to worsen and spread(donotcopy) one of the worst tendencies that we have...the worship of money.

Throw Instagram in several years later and a corner has been turned. The first victims of this were unfortunately young people. The ladies in particular who were bombarded with images (usually enhanced or fake) of an unattainable life led by the 1%. They soon imbibed it and made it their standard.

Instagram celebrities like Linda Ikeji also added fuel to the fire. If he doesn't earn in dollars or in 6 figures, dump him. If he doesn't have a car, he's not your class(donotcopy). If he doesn't this, if he doesn't that etc. Soon the young men will fall victim and would now look to attain these standards set by Instagram celebrities and enforced by women. This is on top of the already bogus culture of bride price that extorts men.

If that wasn't bad enough, even people who were already married would choose to impose these standards on their long time spouses, both male and female.(donotcopy) Marriage is no longer about teamwork, it's now about getting one's way. If you don't have your way or you're not happy, DIVORCE!!!

With the hunt for money in full swing and a new phenomenon of divorce rapidly tearing through marriages, there's a whole generation of kids that do not know the comfort and stability of a 2-parent home. The single parents are too tired from working that they simply do not have the energy to parent their kids.

With poor leadership, ever disappearing jobs, zero opportunities etc.(donotcopy) There's only one way to reach these standards. Crime!

In many communities the glorification of crime, discouragement and suspicion of education, absenteeism of fathers (and mothers too), fewer opportunities, impoverished neighbourhoods etc. has become the norm(donotcopy).

Yahoo boys (internet fraudsters), 419-ers (local fraudsters), kidnappers, armed robbers, violent cultists, drug-dealers, ritualists, organ harvesters etc. have become role models for children whose parents have all but abdicated their responsibility.

Without the family structure to act as a buffer between these impressionable young minds and the cancer of societal vices, the hope of any future family structure for future generations tanks even further.

Because of the above, all of these things are factors that lead to a sort of trap that is very difficult to break free of because the young ones are, to all intents and purposes, born into it and will probably never escape it.
What you narrated here was the same topic i had with my guys last saturday.

I for one cannot and will never marry a girl that grew up with a single mother.

And we are fast imitating and adopting the western culture to a fault and our so called celebrities are leading the way and their fans who look up to them adopts same principles as norm.
