While I will not go with the @op's rumour, I am however compelled to ask you. Does someone have to be in office to sponsor terrorism? Are the members of terrorist groups abroad and their sponsors in office? I don't get your logic.

Its called motive. Those who stand to gain from terrorism are those who said the nation will be made ungovernable if power leaves their hand and they are making good their threat.

How am i even sure that all these arent even pre-plan poly by the killer party?
Why don't you see all these your various possibilities when GEJ or Okonjo is involved? Oh, I forgot, you are a BIGOT!!! Gbam!

There are no several scenarios. Otedola has never changed his story as people like Kobojunkie will want to try and portray, cos of their partisan stance! He has beed steady and consistent! Only Facrook has been changing like a cameleon. Otedola's case is still watertight as ever. Those who dream that Facrook will be left of the hook should dream on. abdul4hire: thing is, if one is recorded receiving bribe.

is this considered as a bribery attempt by otedola or an attempt to collect bribe by lawan??
The one who records and presents the recording is always the accuser or plaintif or complainant, even if the SSS was not involved. The other guy is always the accused. Doesn't even matter if the notes where marked or not. The one who left his house to collect bribe and didn't come as a sting operation and went back to the house to exonorate Otedola and denied he didn't take the money and later agreed he took it, then finally cannot produce the money is definitely a criminal.

PoliticsRe: Police Contact Banks In Search For Lawan’s $620,000 Bribe by edicolove: 11:29am On Jun 19, 2012
abdul4hire: A VERY POSSIBLE SCENARIO; Lawan collects a bribe from otedola as evidence in order to indict the Zenon boss for bribery attempt. This might not have been limited to the ongoing probe but perhaps a much more extensive oil racketeering ring to which otedola belonged to.
Otedola records this and exercises extreme caution just in case sumtin goes wrong. Lawan chooses not to reveal this just yet as the probe was still ongoing but removes zenons name from the probe list as this wont influence the probe nd to futher give otedola assurances of his cooperation while documenting/reporting this to certain members of the house. Doing so in an attempt to further drag otedola deeper.
Somehow Otedola gets wind of his ploy, being in a tight spot nd understanding the devastating effect this would have on his business empire and public image as well. approaches his political associates equipped with the video recording. Understanding the looming ripple effect this will hv on them all, they influenced the sss into distorting the events that actually happened while claiming they had been privy to all that was happening nd that it was actually a sting operation. With otedola easily being able to recollect the serial numbers of the notes as well, they claim they also supplied the notes nd they were marked.

Hence their inability to trace the notes from the onset and their desperation.

AS I SAID POSSIBLE SCENARIO.
A round of applause for this master piece celebration of corruption! You definitely hold a Phd in corruption! Let's drink to this. Bumkum!

The problem on NL is that there are so many 1d1ots who come here and post crap and try to sound like they know a darn thing about leadership, security or government procedures.

The SSS does not need to tell you anything. This is police or EFCC job. They have done the only thing they can do. The police have obtained the videos from them, simple.

They are thinking far more intelligently than most of you 1d1ots posting here. They are creating a bigger case than just catching Lawan. You think you know anything but all you really know is how to post crap on NL. Let them do their job. Journalists are reporting sensational stuff just like they always do. They don't need the cash to establish a case. They need the cash to establish accomplices. The video is all they need to jail Facrook for good. That is overwhelming evidence anyday. If you don't know what to say, just go watch 24 before u come back here and display gross ignorance!

PoliticsRe: Farouk Lawan Provides Evidence Of Otedola's Attempt To Bribe Him by edicolove: 10:40pm On Jun 18, 2012
Kobojunkie: This scandal has grown so many tentacles in just under two weeks. My jaw drops open when I read people proclaiming the version they have conveniently chosen have for themselves, is the right one.
What versions? Are u hallucinating or you are just downright partisan and dishonest like farouk? A case where the facts are so clear, you think u can twist because ur hero farouk has been found out to be a blackmailer and common thief.

Explain these tentacles then:

1. Farouk goes to Otedola's house
2. Farouk collects marked dollar notes
3. Farouk asks house to remove otedola's name from final report, after initially indicting him(its on video).
4. Farouk denies collecting money from Otedola
5. Farouk changes statement after 24hrs because Otedola declares everything is on tape
6. Farouk claims he gave money to house member for safe keeping but member denies it
7. Farouk can't provide the cash and claims it has been stolen
8. SSS finds 10k out of the money in Farouks house
9. Otedola has video, audio recording and call logs
10. House suspends Farouk from committee and leaves in out to dry
11. Farouk stuffs money in his cap

This is the most consistent story I have ever seen. The only inconsistency is from Farouk who keeps changing his words. And now people like you want to come here and celebrate corruption. Like someone said, how do you want other people to come out in the future and whistle blow when people like you are angry that a criminal has been caught just because you don't like certain people? Corrupt and bigoted nairalanders like you!
PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Wants All Christians To Convert To Islam by edicolove: 6:16pm On Jun 18, 2012
abbey621: Atheist:-D : Perhaps you misinterpreted my statement, I'm not saying the Holy Roman Catholic Church was the oldest church, I'm saying it is the foundation that expanded Christianity. Yes, the original Church of Jesus. The apostles with the Great Commission took territories: St James, in Jerusalem; St Peter in Rome, Andrew in Constantinople, Ignatius in Antioch [originally founded by St Peter], Mark in Alexandria. The apostles creed called it ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH; catholic as in universal. It was called the Jesus way, the Holy Church with HQ in Jerusalem and St James as its 1st Bishop. Unfortunately, the Jerusalem church was disseminated by the Jews and Muslims later. Christianity could have been annihilated without the Roman Church. By the design and will of God, the Roman Church [founded somewhere in 44 AD]headed by St Peter then gained strenght and wisdom; It is still the only church that can lay claim to completing the first and most recognizable version of the bible.
This is one of the most ignorant account of Christianity I have seen. For the records, the catholic church was setup to destroy christianity, not to promote it. The Roman empire were persecuting and hounding christians everywhere, starting from the killing of apostle James. They however realised that the persecution only expanded christianity because as the christians ran away from the empire, they carried the message to new territories. So they came up with a devilish idea; merge the church and state. Declare that everyone was now a christian. That was the birth of the Roman Catholic church. Roman catholic church was not founded by Apostle Peter. That was a cooked up bare faced lie from the Roman Catholic church to promote their new religion. The true Christians were killed throughout the dark ages by the catholic church until the reformation.

No jew would ever use graven images in the worship of God like the catholics do or pray to angels. So please don't spread those lies that the Apostle peter formed the catholic church.

The Roman catholic folks carried out the crusades, not believers in Jesus. Believers in Jesus were also victims of the crusades as well as Jews. Both the Roman catholic and muslim massacared Jews and christians.

Jimmy Boy: So if Facrook was not willing to play ball, why did he move the motion for Zenon and Synopsis to be delisted ?
Million dollar question! This is all that is required to nail him in court.

Second question: why did he deny at first then rescind after Otedola said he has video and audio evidence?

Third question: why did he not record the encounter with Otedola?

Forth Q: if he had correspondence with the house, why has the house denied him?

And sixth Q: Where is the darn money? That the money was stolen is the most bare faced and insulting lie I have ever heard. Does he think we are all f00ls. SMH!!!

acidtalk: You people should stop putting up threads on the front page that are likely to distabilize the country.

Boko Haram Doesn't represent Islam and are not fighting for the interest of muslims. Even Christians who are none sentimental know this fact.

Boko haram is more of a political implanted miscreants to distabilize the nation in order to attract self pity and easy means to divide Nigeria when the need arises.
While I wouldn't want to join in the insults and war of words, I do have a simple question for you:

Are the terrorism and destruction that are going on in Afghan, Iraq, Sudan, Palestine, India by muslim groups also caused by Nigerian politicians? Because I see a clear pattern here. These killings and destructions have been on since the sixties. BH only increased the frequency and sophistication. So you have to do more to convince us here that it is not a fundamental characteristic of Islam as a religion.
PoliticsRe: Constituents Move To Recall Farouk Lawan by edicolove: 10:48am On Jun 18, 2012
The beautiful thing about this saga is that it will change Nigeria for good. I have always said that the executive is not the problem of Nigeria. While they are very corrupt, the real problem are the institutions that are supposed to check them. The problem of Nigeria is that checks and balances don't exist. That is why I lay the blame of Nigeria's woes on three key institutions: the legislature, judiciary and the press. As long as these 3 independent institutions don't do their job and are laden with corruption, nothing will change.

There is corruption all over europe and America, but the legislature, judiciary and press are what keeps the system in check and ensure things do go out of hand. In Nigeria, these institutions are, unfortunately, worse than the executive. So let these things continue to happen to the Judiciary and legislature and we can then hope that the result will be a more credible check and balance machinery that will help take the nation out of its travails.

Hmmmm! Question is, if it was GEJ or a member of his cabinent that is in Lawan's shoes, would you have made this same statement above? Absolutely not and that's the big problem right there. It is yet another evidence that most of you are partisan. You are so quick to come out to accuse and insult GEJ for even wild rumours but when Farouk Lawan is caught pants down and the house decides to go on a vendetta, you suddenly realise it is not your war? Do you see the Occupy Movements in other countries doing anything similar to what you suggest OCCUPYNIGERIA ought to? jeezz . . THINK FIRST . . POST AFTERWARDS!!
@Kobo kobo cocaine, you are an covert CPC member with a soft spot for ACN. Reading most of your posts between the lines shows that clearly. But this one you churned out is probably the worst so far. How can you say it has nothing to do with the welfare of Nigerians? If is has nothing to do with Nigeria's welfare, why are you then calling for the subsidy report's implementation? You are calling for the implementation of a report that was compiled on bribery and you say you are against corruption. Like Otedola said, you are celebrating corruption. What a pity. You are too transparent man!

#Occupynigeria protested, house took the initiative to probe. The man in charge of the probe created a list, added those who didn't settle and removed those who settled, he took it back to the house and they shouted "aye" in one voice. Now he is caught pants down, in anger, the house says the name that they said aye to before is now nay since their man is down. They also say the cooked up report should be implemented. And you are totally in support! Hmmm! You must be soooo corrupt yourself! You are just like farouk, trying to take a saintly posture while corruption flows in your blood! Lol

Funny Nairaland peeps and their ignorant posts!

You can't charge him to court. Its weekend. And you can't detain him for over 48 hours. They've only followed the normal procedure. The same people talking here were shouting about GEJ not following procedure when MAU was renamed. Double speak I guess.

Why is it that ACN supporters are trying to defend Lawan? I thought they are for the fight against corruption and they always preach that there should be no sacred cows? Its amazing how we discover each day how partisan these peeps are. They figure the integrity group will undermine PDP and that's what's important to them, not Nigeria's progress. I know MBA will come out to back Lawan too, just watch. They will claim it is a ploy to destroy subsidy report and ask everyone to ignore the Lawan issue.

Its getting clearer that we have no viable opposition in Nigeria, just a bunch of hypocrites seeking power change so they can loot for themselves. Look at the way their house of reps members shouted 'aye' to the Farouk request without asking questions and are also part of the group trying to cover for Lawan. PDP will win 2015 easily. Fact!

Today, the Nigerian house of representatives shamed us and called us fools, asking the entire 160 million Nigerians to go do their worst! They rose from an emergency session and instead of tackling what is one of the worst corruption cases in Nigeria, they have decided to come up with a cock and bull conspiracy theory!

They have just shown that they are all accomplices in this corruption saga. From the speaker down to the last man. They have shown that Nigeria cannot move forward as a country as long as those who claim they are helping us check the corrupt executive are the real crooks and blackmailers. OBJ said they were thieves and robbers and they shouted him down only to come and show us on National TV live, that they are real barawos! Shameless to say the least.

Where is the Save Nigeria Group when it matters most? Or do they only come out when they have a cheap political point to score against the government?

Where is the NBA? Where is Labour? Where are the #OccupyNigeria people? Or is this a confirmation that they were actually sponsored to protest in January?

Passing a vote of confidence on the house leadership and claiming the already tainted report will stand is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in a situation like this. That report is not worth a patch of tissue paper in the light of this scandal. Instead of them to sit down, do the right thing and if need be, do a fresh and credible investigation and report, they are there deceiving themselves. How on earth will you admit a report whose author is seriously indicted, in this manner, in any court of law. These guys are fools of the worst breed. How did we ever vote these kind of lawmakers into office in the first place? Even the so called opposition lawmakers just sit there and shout "aye" or "nay" to everything. This is so disheartening!

This is just too much. Let us collectively insist on the following:

1. All the members involved in this saga be immediately tried and if found guilty, jailed accordingly.
2. Government should ask a new neutral body with credible elements(if there are any left in Nigeria) to conduct a thorough probe of the subsidy case.
3. Membership to the National assembly should henceforth be a part time job.
4. The NASS members should immediately stop collecting ridiculous allocations for so called constituency projects. Imagine a NASS member collecting over 45 million per quarter. For what? They are not contractors. They are elected to make laws, not to construct projects. And you have over 360 members in the house alone!!!
5. All their excess allowances should be slashed and reduced to reasonable standards.

Please we must do something, if not for ourselves, but for future generations. Don't fold your hand and watch as your country is driven aground. BetaThings: Jonathan promised on Labour day, May 1 2010 that he needed 3 months to give labour a new minimum wage. On Aug 1, 2010 that self-imposed deadline expired.
3 months after, in Nov 2010, Labour went on strike on the matter, Jonathan said "please it is not me, I need to take it before National council of states"
The minimum wage bill was signed in Mar 2011, a month before the 2011 elections. Of course we know why
9 months after signing, in Dec 2011, the minimum wage had not been paid by Jonathan's FG

Youth Corper are supposed to earn more, but as at May this year, for the first time in the history of this country, youth corpers were being owed 5 months stipend
Now imagine being a youngster living 500km away from your parents and being owed by FG. How do you eat, go out, connect with the world etc?

According to people like you, the Benin-Ore road was fixed by Jan 2011, just before the elections. The story was discussed here on Nairaland.
It is either the road was fixed with a lifespan of 1 year, or it was propaganda
I hope you know that Jonathan became Ag President in Feb 2010 and by Aug 2012 (2 months from now), he would have spent 2&half years, the total number spent by Yaradua in office
And that would be 10 months more than Buhari who spent only 20 months

Let us respect facts
Lol! You are the one trying to distort facts out of your hatred for GEJ. He fixed the Benin Ore road and no amount of propaganda and lies can change that. The major part of the road road was basically completed in december but some finishing touches are still going on even now. Buhari did absolutely nothing in 20months. No plan, no idea, no road map, nothing except to rule the country in sharia style.

GEJ promised minimum wage increase and delivered. Doesn't matter how long it took. Stuff like that normally takes time because a lot of factors are involved. For your infomation, that minimum wage issue was the genesis of the fuel subsidy removal because the governors insisted that the FG should remove fuel subsidy to fund the workers salary increase. So don't come here trying to distort facts and spread your hate propaganda.

Mandelaguy: If Gej decides to contest in 2015, I will give him my vote. No sentiments. The president has done in one year what some of his predecessors could not achieve in their whole tenure. If not for any other thing, construction work has begun on the Lagos-Ore-Benin road. Onitsha-owerri has been completed. Afikpo- Okigwe has been awarded.A friend of mine told me that He passed thru Zaria-Gusau-Funtua and then keffi-Akwanga-lafia that construction work is ongoiing by stalini & co. At the same time, all the major airports in Nigeria are being renovated. Even Enugu airport was completely shut down and is under serious rehabilitation. In less than 1yr, Gej set up 9 universities across the country. He equally established 2 additional campuses of Nigerian law school. He has built and commissioned the Almajiri school system. He has also increased funding of Nigerian universities and upgraded the retirement age of university lecturers to 70yrs. In transportation, GEJ has succeeded in reforming the ports. Lagos ports are now billed to operate 24 hours. The number of law enforcement agencies @ d ports have also been reduced from about 15 to 6. It's now easier and faster to clear goods at the wharf. The light rail projects are under construction. The Abuja light rail construction appears to be nearing completion and a drive through central area to Garki will clear any doubts. The Govt has initiated its cassava bread campaign which is intended to encourage local production and consumption of cassava bread so as to discourage importation of wheat as it kills our economy. The govt has also eliminated the cartel that feeds fat on distributing fertilizer for farmers. Fertilizers can now easily be accessed by farmers in the open market. Within a year, Gej has completed the construction of the Mambilla and Zungeru power stations and it's expected to add about 2000 megawatts to the national grid. He is vigorously pursuing his power sector reforms agenda which includes the privatization of PHCN and the new cost reflective electricity tariffs. Gej increased minimum wage to N 18, 000 . NYSC members now even earn higher
Add to that:

FOI bill
Official secrets act
Electoral reform
Deregulation of power sector
Deregulation of railway
And most exciting renaming of University of Lagos to Moshood Abiola University!
