Education › Re: First Class Student Barred From Graduation For Refusal To Shave Beard by efficiencie(m): 10:44pm On Jun 11, 2016
Foolishness is no respecter of persons...or even race! Here is a guy who spots a beard, looks like an average ghetto rapper and even has a tattoo yet he is the BEST IN HIS CLASS! Making him cut his beard for a single event will not change who he has grown to be and neither will it have any impact on the proposed path of this bright mind...and for goodness sake, if spotting a beard is a crime why didn't the school authorities signify that in his registration form (or whatever document necessary) and why did they indulge him all these years only the dig out a dumb norm - of no beards on graduation day - from no where...indeed foolishness is no respecter of persons...

You are right Because you have some Good points But don't you think the Marginalization and the hatred of the Igbos are unfair?

The Igbos are blessed because they can survive and build an empire anywhere they are of which the rest of the Country hates them for being Productive..

Yet the situation has not improved in anyway...The British Government are still chopping from the Nigerian economy which can be used to develop some parts of the country and you are all comfortable with that?

The best solution out of this is for the government to pitch together and Negotiate with The IPOB members for a lasting peace.
Bros this tacit blackmail will help neither you nor the non-igbos.

Who hates you and your people? Yorubas are marrying your daughters at alarming rates at exorbitant prices while they leave their own daughters to marry whoever is available!

Who hates your people? Yorubas accepted your people into their land to do business unfettered and undisturbed!

Who hates your people? I am yoruba, my mom is igbo and my fiance is from Delta! Is this hatred?

The northerners who are aggressive towards your people are religiously motivated and they are hostile towards all non-muslims. The boko haram islamist sect also killed muslims that are not sympathetic to their own version of islam. These same aggressive northerners will kill a yoruba person or foreigner if their tenets are trampled on. But the learned and sympathetic hausas do not hate you or your people!

You must understand that the elite are not divided or united on ethnic, religious or traditional lines rather they are united or divided by SELF INTEREST and they use ethnicity, religion and tradition fueled by their MEDIA WEAPONS to divide us, fracture us and set us against ourselves to meet their selfish goals.

We need to snap our of this slumber and see that we are being manipulated to our destruction!

Is the phrase "true federalism" the title of soundtrack? Folks here are singing it like its the latest track of Terry G.!

During the GEJ administration, pipelines were not blown up, agitations did not reach fever pitch and these armed scoundrels helped themselves to the commonwealth of the country! True federalism was clamores for by all but not with violence, hate and disdain!

Now that the country is suffering the pains of enduring 16 years of gang ra.pe by the si called PDP and governance is becoming a arduous task some politically motivated riff raffs took up arms and claimed they are fighting for true federalism...and the blinded masses divided by religion and ethnicity think the war is about true federalism...

I now see that the best way to enslave a society forever is to first rob them of a sound education, control what they know using the media and widen their differences till social cohesion and solidarity is impossible!

May God help us!

And where is your proof?

As 'corrupt' as you folks claim they are, global firms, including world bank keep hiring them, that alone clearly questions you folks definition of corrupt person.
The private sector needs expertise and experience which these people have but the moral fortitude to stand up openly against misdemeanor and false judgment to the detriment of their highly treasured pay packages and perks is lacking and it is this lack that makes them irrelevant in the growth and development effort of the current administration.

If these people come in again, they will treasure their salaries and position above service to the people they will dance to the tune of the government to secure their billions instead of being firm and performing their due role as professional advisors...

They are technocrats, yes but they are also budget maximizing bureaucrats that inflate the budget to attain their pay, power, perks and prestige...public choice theory says a lot about them so please let's cut this B.S about these guys being technocrats!

op, honestly, I respect these people. They are people with brains, real working brains. In fact, many of the ideas and economic policies employed by the present administration is from them, especially NOI and Akinwunmi Adesina, but unfortunately, because of political sentiments, they wouldn't be recognized and appreciated.
Working brains indeed!

Their brain were working counterfactual!

With all their brain power, they had five years to diversify Nigeria's economy, to strenghten agriculture-industry linkages, to foster the growth of agri-business, to add to the stock of social capital, to increase the quality and relevance of our high level manpower and to strenghten ethnic ties but they did none of these rather they supervised the plundering and pillaging of the Nigerian economy, encouraged ethnic division, built more under staffed and ill-equipped universities and left an economy that would require the miracle of Cana to rescue...Lee Kuan Yew was one man that had brains and had results to prove it, i felt this team MEGA BRAINS would perform the feat of Yew but unfortunately their MAGA BRAINS left us with an exchange rate crisis, a lopsided regional development, crippled infrastructure, soaring debts, diminished reserves, decimated sovereign wealth fund and a title "fantastically corrupt nation"...despite our religious inclinations!

Asari, Tompolo and the like were paupers before the amnesty nonsense and after exploiting the fight for regional development (which is legitimate) they accepted to become billionaires with chieftancy titles...instead of pushing for the development of their land...So a new crop of paupers thought to themselves that they can repeat the same feat like Tompolo and Asari. Claim you are figthing for justice and for the people, blow up the revenue source of the nation, hold the nation to ransom, till the incumbent cedes the ND region or apportions total resource control to the militants and ND elite and voila, armed paupers and ND politicians become instant billionaires...poverty shoots up, internal unhealthy competition heats up, inequality reaches astronomical proportions and ND becomes another barren wasteland left for the poor NDs...ofcourse Dubai, US, UK etc will become the new home of the once-upon-a-time militants and elite!

Very soon the Niger Delta will have comparative advantage in the exportation of militants...and the weak (women and children) will suffer greatly!

All these could have been avoided if your cattle rearer of a president wasn't busy making stupid remarks. This country really needs to renegotiate its sovereignty. How can oil from South South be used to develop Lagos and Abuja at the expense of the original owners of the oil? How can a company be drilling oil in South South but having regional and head offices at Lagos and Abuja? We are tired of this injustice. We might come from a Minority region but our contributions to the economic development of Nigeria has been Major. I am a South Southerner and oil is my birthright.
Your own brother was there in power for 5 years and in full and total control of oil money...What did he do to benefit your region, his homeland? Your brother could have supervised the greatest development in the ND but sadly the ND is still so poor at least that is why the NDA have taken up arms...

Bro, your enemy is not the hausa or yoruba elite...The Niger Delta elite are responsible for the impoverishment of the ND!

Hate rules the heart of many...tribes have intermarried, non indigene trade with indigenes, our boundaries are connected by roads and in prayers we are seen as one but because of selfish gain we hate eachother, call names, malign dignities, insult leaders and call for war...in end, as a singer once said: we leave sorrow, tears and blood...Nigeria, repent of hate!

...but doesnt logic validate the scrapping of the Amnesty program? The ND people have always lamented that they want infrastructure, clean up of their land, social inclusion and participatory governance but an absurd government goes ahead to squander money on a few people who can weild AK 47s...Those monies should have gone towards building roads, schools, hospitals, recreational centres, research centres, plantations, land reclamation, development of new ports etc...Paying a few people money simply because they wield guns means if i can assemble a group of disgruntled elements, arm them and transport them to the Delta i can become a billionaire over night though i'm not a Niger Deltan or possibly even a Nigerian...We need to wake up!

We are talking problems, insults, symptoms and blames. ARE WE NOT TIRED OF THIS CULTURE!? We need solutions. My recommendations may be unpopular or frowned at, but nevertheless I'll put them forward:

i. We need a CULTURAL REVOLUTION!

We need to change the way we think, speak and act. IPOB thinks they are sufferring in isolation and the Niger Delta thinks they are sufferring in isolation so they think it is them against Nigeria but they fail to realize the poverty, unemployment, crime, socio-economic inequality and exclusion do not have ethnic faces but are problems faced by us all. If we all took up arms, if we all started violent protests to fight for our selfish interests Nigeria would be a replica of Somalia today.
We need to change our orientation, we need to recognize we are in the same class (igbo, yoruba, hausa), we need to recognize our common problems, we need to recognize our common foes (the elite), we need to recognize the burden of the future and we need to recognize we must be the solution we seek.
Sensitization programs should be pursued via social media to promote selflessness, sincerity, solidarity, class consciousness, nationalism, anti-elitist interests, anti-political interests, communalism and godliness.
We need to stop focusing on the government irrespective of who is there in power and focus on what the youths can and must do to propel growth and development in every region of the country.

2. We need AN AVENUE FOR THE EXPRESSION OF REVOLUTIONARY IDEAS

Information as people say is power! But unfortunately we, youths, patronize rumours, gossips, propaganda and a media that has become the instrument of manipulation of the masses. We as youths need to bury ourselves in independent research; we need to create a forum for the dissemination of empirically verifiable and logically coherent information; we need a forum for the sharing of revolutionary ideas that would positively boost the economy, society and nation; we need to destroy sentiment once and for all and talk facts and reason and we need to make information accessible to all (the educated, less educated, rich and poor among us, youths).

I suggest to do this we need to create an online journal where formal research on new ideas, methods, principles and advances can be archived, reviewed and availed as the basis of decision making. In addition we need a media for a less formal discussion of our ideas and thoughts and i suggest a dedicated thread on nairaland for a CONSULTATIVE FORUM FOR REVOLUTIONARY YOUTHS (CONFRY).

3. We need to MAP OUT A STRATEGY

We need to clearly articulate what we want to achieve, the resources at our disposal, the limitations of our operational environment (legal, political and insititutional) and the opportunities that abound in our operational environment.
This strategy will birth a plan with time markers, instruments, operational targets and targets. We didnt go to school for nothing. We need to take the census of educated youths (we can do this via this forum). Afterwards we can classify them into well defined groups and assign tasks to them that would facilitate the creation of a strategy for national growth and development by the youths nationwide!

4. We need a SERIOUS, REVOLUTIONARY, PASSIONATE AND INGENIOUS COUNCIL OF LEADERS

Nigeria is a mess partly because one man leads a nation with over 250 ethnic groups. We need to be governed by a council. We need a council of youths representing the major ethnic groups in Nigeria. These youths must be selfless, revolutionary, outstanding thinkers, nationalistic and committed to the emancipation of this country from the shackles of its social, economic, institutional and political problems.

Ordinarily, this should be the initiative of the NANS but it appears the students are asleep as well.

The youths must wake up! Necessity they say is the mother of innovation...now that we face a crisis, we must prove to the world that we are not retrogressive, selfish and intellectually lazy youths. Youths started the revolution in Iran, a youth triggered the arab spring, Che Guvara was a revolutionary youth...We must strive to be enlisted in this hall of fame.

Our fathers have eaten sour grapes but our teeth need not be set on edge, because we can decide to brush our teeth if our fathers have failed to.

Now our slumber must cease...youths arise!

Research is a tedious exercise and it easily becomes a pain in the neck when you lack the requisite tools to start and finish it.

For the sake of those stuck in their third chapter: EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS or DATA PRESENTATION/ANALYSIS, I am willing to offer DATA ANALYSIS FREE OF CHARGE and give necessary guides on how to interpret the results. That way you get your problems of data analysis solved and you learn the methods involved in the analysis (what most supervisors sadly can't help you achieve).

However researchers (writing thesis and/or papers) with other research issues can get solutions at affordable charges as well.

Avail this opportunity while it lasts.

Very Delightful attitude, but not so thoughtful
Then quite a number of people are not so thoughtful because men are disposed on the average to express enthusiasm and optimism when presented a utopian mirage...youngsters from poor homes still attend Nigerian universities in droves though they see the teeming unemployment, why? Well the mirage of a bright future via education puts in them enthusiasm and optimism which ironically are sine qua non ingredients for success in life...in the end what started out as a mirage to thoughtful people, like you I guess, becomes a successful reality for folks like me!
