SEYIKP: There as being a lot of hullabaloos since the APC Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, announced his substantive running mate for the next year presidential election. Most of the outcry is coming from those of Christian faith, that the choice of the running mate, who is a Muslim, is insensitive in a country that is evenly divided along religious line, with Christians larger population in the south, and Muslims most in the north.

Iwo APC Osogbo and Olaoluwa APC. Boripe APC. OROLU APC Odo Otin APC. Ila APC etc PDP will get votes too but APC will win the election. My reasons are: APC is friendly with Osun workers unlike 2018. Excober08: "I Met My Engineering Classmate Riding Keke Five Years After Graduation"
Dayo and Rukayat Studied Engineering at a University in kwara State. They were both Classmates and after Five years of Studying hard, they both graduated. After graduation, Fate took them through different paths of life.
5 Years later, Rukayat after much frustration of securing a job, ended up as a Secretary in a Building firm earning 50,000 Naira monthly.
Meanwhile, Dayo on the other hand, couldn't Secure a Job and ended up a Taxi Driver, He makes At least 5,000 daily and if he works for only 20 days in a month, He makes 100,000 Naira that month.
One Evening, Rukayat closed from work and was at the bus stop waiting for taxi when Dayo stopped. She hopped in when she discovered the taxi was going her way but little did she know it was Dayo. All through the journey, she was lost in her Phone.
She reached her bus Stop and after alighting, just when she was about paying, she took a look at the driver and their eyes met, wow! They were both happy.
"Is this you?" they both asked themselves simultaneously as if they planned it. Rukayat gave him money but Dayo insisted she keep it. He was happy to see her and for old time sake, he left the money for her even when she insisted that she wanted to pay. They both exchanged contact and left.
Well, Rukayat went home that night and was lost in thought. Not as if Dayo was looking bad but Dayo driving Taxi? She couldn't wrap her head around it. She Pitied him. Felt Sorry for him. If Dayo had allowed her she would have paid him and beg him to keep the change.
Little did she know that, Dayo actually has another Taxi running for him, He is a Land owner and he is planning on developing it soon. But because he was driving a Taxi, She felt Pity for him.
On the other hand, Dayo felt sorry for himself too. Before he slept that night, he remembered Rukayat, how neatly she dressed and nice she smells, "She must be earning over 300,000 Naira per month" he said to himself. He felt ashamed, He felt like a failure and he felt she was way ahead of him financially and otherwise.
Little did he know that, If Rukayat removes the transportation fare and feeding money from her monthly salary, it will take her at least 3 Months to earn what he earns monthly.
Sadly, this could be some of our reality, you measure your progress and success with that of your friends, Classmates and Relatives even with very limited information you have about them.
You think yours is worse because you look dirtier, you think yours is worse because you are not on Corporate wears, you think yours is worse because the other person acts and looks Nicer.
Stay Focused and Face your life. It's not a competition. Stop Comparing things, you don't have the full picture. Every one is running on his own lane. Be contented.
Be focused.
Good report ! How did you know their thoughts after the first meeting?
EmzyT: Later when he's unable to cater for them now, he'll look for a truck, pack them in it and then go offload them in a different state with their rubber plate begging for alms in different streets while he keeps impregnating his wives. Then the female ones would be sold out to his like at that tender age all in the name of marriage, get pregnant too and start giving birth to Children like Rabbits.
When you ask him where are his kids? He'll tell you they've gone for the work of ALLAH!
Very anyhow Religion
I don't know how this man is coping. Did Islam say a man must compulsorily have 3 or more 4 wives? This is serious and later they become liabilities to the society.
buckeyemedia: You are a Yoruba Christian, who is talking about you?, I am talking of the Fulani Hausa Jihadist up North & their Islamic agenda, how many Yoruba men are heading security positions in Nigeria?
Tinubu is the most selfish idiotic politician in the history of Nigeria, even worse than Awolowo, that will sell his own people just for his personal ambition.
Isso whether n’t President Buhari APC a colossal failure, what does Tinubu APC want to do that Buhari hasn’t already done to destroy Nigeria?
Jehovah will definitely destroy him & his ill gotten wealth, he will see Aso Rock, but he will never sleep there for 1 night.
. Let me tell you the truth I have said about BAT and all the contestants.None of them can salvage Nigeria.I repeat none. However if PDP feilds aYoruba man SW will have a choice to make. The only party that fields SW is APC. So whether he is good or bad SW is behind him and cannot go with Hausa Fulani again for another 8years. As to the issues yiu raised about Hausa taking over the juicy positions, the North has fully arranged everything after the end of the Civil War The region is not interested in education but its interests on matters. That is why they are better in Nigeria! Hardly vwill you see them criticizing one another. All they want is unity of the north. On the election day yiu will see them on queue as from 3am when we will wake up in entire South at 8am. How many of our children want to go to and join the Force? What do you expect later years? The North is strategizing. We need to follow suit
buckeyemedia: Quite obvious that APC is about themselves, & not for the people.
. I don't think so sir! What is important now is winning and the only magic is to take a Shettima. BAT is from a minority Muslim in the SW he cannot take a Christian in the North whose gtouo is minority too He will lose woefully. He needs a VP from a majority Muslim. It is a political calculation for the reakisation of BAT and SW project. There are no religious issues in the SW.We will resolve everything . Till the World is over no man can Islamatise or Christianize Nigeria. I am a Yoruba and a Christian too. We should not allow sentiments now. Hausa Fulani president must go in 2023.It is our turn and we are determined to make the sacrifices
famology: Shame on those newspapers carrying fake news. Everybody is on the same page.
More tears please!
Mynd44, lalasticlala
. Fake News and propaganda will continue to flourish on the social media! I know from the beginning that tlall the APC governors had a say in the choice if Shettima. He comes from Borno which has the highest number of Voters in the NE
Lanrelagboi: All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu receives his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima at Abuja Airport ahead of their joint visit to Osun State for APC mega rally in support of Governor Gboyega Oyetola's campaign.
InsideOAU: July 10 is one of the most popular dates on OAU campus, infact if as an OAU student you have no idea what July 10 is, I think your studentship should be questioned. That date should always ring a bell, everywhere you go.
Why is July 10 so popular? Why is everyone talking about July 10, why do we post candles on this day? Sit back and enjoy.
We are celebrating our fallen heroes, George Iwilade popularly known as Afrika, Yemi Ajiteru, Eviano Ekelemu, Babatunde Oke and Efe Ekede. The heroes we lost to the battle of Cultism on OAU campus.
Everytime you see OAU students bragging about walking 2am in the morning without fear, remember, these 5 people died for them. Whenever OAU students voice out in the face of oppression, they don’t want to be cowards, we didn’t lose our five heroes to be cowards.
What led to The July 10 killing?
Without March 7, 1999, there might not be July 10, 1999 killing.
On the 7th day of March, 1999, nine members of cult were arrested by the students’ union in a boy’s quarter of the residence of a university staff on campus. Many dangerous items and uniforms were found in their possession which included submachine guns, AK 47, an axe, ammunition, dagger and local firearms. They confessed to their crime and the student leaders handed them over directly to the police for prosecution (after informing the university authority).
The accused were later charged to the Ile-Ife Magistrate Court on the 23rd day of March, 1999. But, in what could be described as the fastest criminal trial ever, the Magistrate found that the accused had no case to answer and discharged them but ordered that the sub-machine guns, AK 47 and other ammunition seized from them be transferred to the Police armourer and the remaining exhibits were destroyed. The students’ union were not informed by the police, the university was not involved and only the Investigating Police Officer gave evidence.
Who is Afrika?
Afrika, a vibrant and active comrade in the Great Ife Students’ Union who was also the Secretary General of the Union was massacred, the other four died due to gun shot injuries, but our Afrika was butchered.
Series of events before the black day
According to eye-witness reports, some days to the incident, every street light that led from campus gate to academics and halls of residence suddenly stop working. After the incident, the management claimed the streetlights were destroyed. The security unit as well as the management feigned ignorance (if you know OAU campus, you’ll know no one can destroy the street lights from campus gate to academics without getting caught, it’s very impossible)
Few days to the incident as well, a huge amount of money was withdrawn out of the institution’s account, without proper records. The bursar who initiated the withdrawal claimed to have disbursed the funds N350,000 (Imagine, 350k in 1999) for “security needs” and the funds were handed over to the Vice-Chancellor’s right hand man, Femi Idowu. During inquiry, one of cult boys, Efosa Idahosa confessed that they received that amount from the University. Remember, Wale Omole, the then VC was suspected to be a godfather to cultists.
The black day – July 10, 1999.
July 10, 1999 was a black day in the history of Great Ife, the entirety of Great Ife mourned!
The day of the incident, Afrika, who was supposed to be inducted as a Kegite went to rest after a long week, he instructed people around to wake him when induction starts properly. Females used to have access to every halls of residence, regardless of time, in the middle of the night, a student suspected to be working for Wale Omole rushed into Awo hall to inform Afrika and Olanrewaju Adeleke popularly known as Legacy (the then Students’ Union President) that a strike was about to happen, Afrika was dead asleep, Legacy was no where to be found, she ran back to her hostel.
If you’re really familiar will halls of residence, you will know that 4 people in a room in male hostel is almost impossible. Afrika had slept with a squatter they called friend, not knowing he was a spy for Wale Omole, as soon as the strike was about to happen, the squatter ran to Fajuyi hall and left Afrika all alone in the room. The shooting started from the lawn that leads to rooms that was where the remaining 4 were killed and Afrika, in the room.
Lanre Legacy’s alleged disappearance
Lanre Legacy didn’t disappear as claimed by many stories, he was held back by a friend when he wanted to rush out, that was what saved him from the death that came knocking, Legacy saw the killers even though it was dark and late. According to him, he still saw one of the masterminds of the attack sometime in 2018 at the airport.
After the black day…
The case was reported in the police station, but unfortunately, the cultists had the backing of the powers and principalities and they were discharged and acquitted alongside Wale Omole.
The death of Afrika shook the whole country that people came from far and near to Ile-Ife in mourn and demand justice. Well, the deed has been done, our heroes have fallen, but they live forever!
We join the entirety of Great Ife in remembering our heroes that didn’t die in vain. Wherever you are always Say No To Cultism.
This story was written based on what the Author can remember after listening to Olanrewaju Adeleke (Legacy), Students’ Union President 1998/99 testimony at the 19th year remembrance of the 5 heroes.
. Aftika , Yemi Ajiteru, Eviano Ekelemu, Babatunde Oke and Efe Ekede. Afrika was in Law Tunde Oke in Philosophy Efe Ekede and Eviano Ekelemu ..Medical students The Ife 5 were courageous in thier determination to ward OAU off cultism. The 5 still live on.
. BAT is a minority Muslim in the SW If he chosses a minority christiqn in the north, he will crash in 2023..(A lule ni) So we now have a minority Muslim in SW and a majority Muslim in the North. The victory is assured No sentiment for now
The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Murtala Ajaka, on Monday, called on Nigerians to ignore opposition parties’ sentiment of religion, saying the choice of Senator Kashim Shettima as vice presidential candidate had unsettled their camps.
This was as the New Nigeria People’s Party warned that fielding Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate would be the final nail that would seal the ambition of the former Lagos State governor.
Tinubu had announced the former Governor of Borno State as his substantive running mate after he had a closed-door meeting with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), at his residence in Daura, on Sunday.
The announcement also coincided with the withdrawal of the APC placeholder, Ibrahim Masari, who earlier stepped down as the vice presidential nominee.
Masari, the surrogate running mate, stepped aside to pave way for the name of the substantive running mate to be submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission five days to the deadline.
Tinubu, who revealed in his statement on Sunday that he had always been a decisive man, added that he shared same ideology with party leaders, including Shettima.
In a statement released Monday in Abuja, the APC deputy scribe assured Nigerians that the fear of the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket being nursed in some quarters only existed in the imagination of opposition.
Describing Shettima as a man of knowledge and courage, Ajaka disclosed that the opposition parties, especially the Peoples Democratic Party, had been thrown off-balance and still reeling from Tinubu’s choice of Shettima.
He said: “The sterling qualities of our vice presidential candidate, in person of Senator Kashim Shettima, has once again thrown the opposition parties off-balance. They (PDP and others) would have preferred our presidential candidate to settle for the less so as to make it easy for them to win election (God forbid), but the choice of the trusted and trustworthy Shettima must have disorganised their evil plans, we understand them in the APC.
“While we sympathise with the opposition parties, we appeal to Nigerians, who will eventually be the beneficiaries of good governance under Tinubu-Shettima presidency, to see beyond the sentiments of religion and tribe. Both Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima are not religious fundamentalists or ultra Muslims, their records in public offices are testimonies to rely on.
"As a two-term governor in Borno State, Shettima enjoyed the support of the Christian community throughout his tenure. In fact, the Borno chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) testified that ‘In the history of Borno State, there is no Governor that has been fair to the Christian Community as much as Governor Kashim Shettima.’
“For example, it was Governor Shettima, in the history of Borno, that has sponsored the highest number of Christian Pilgrims every year since 2011 till he left office. This and many other records of mutual respect for all faiths are there to verify in Borno State.”
Ajaka said the APC and its presidential candidate will not be distracted from the goal of winning the 2023 general election at all levels.
“If Borno State has the largest votes in the North-East where Kashim Shettima has been governor for 8 years and now a Senator and still politically relevant, if the APC has enjoyed massive support from this state and the entire North-East and the emergence of Shettima as our vice presidential candidate will deny the candidate of the PDP the smooth ride in the zone, I think the APC and our presidential candidate are politically correct because our main goal for now is to emerge victorious in the coming elections, not forgetting competence which Senator Kashim Shettima represents.”
Reacting to the allegation, National Publicity Secretary of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Major Agbo, said no serious candidate should be scared of Shettima.
According to him, the APC vice presidential candidate is a well known person that does not have any form of credibility.
“The choice of Shettima is not an issue to any serious minded politician in this country. These people are just looking for what to hang on to for survival. The APC knows that their situation is getting worse. The choice of Shettima has made the job easier for the rest of us, especially for my party, because of his antecedent. His antecedent calls for concerns.
“Remember that the Governor who handed over to him accused him in 2017 of being the main sponsor of Boko Haram. It was all over the media. His choice as running mate is the final nail on the coffin of the APC. We don’t see him as a threat or anything to worry about,” he said.
Efforts made to get the reaction of the spokespersons for the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party proved abortive.
However, Emeka Obasi, media aide to Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, told our correspondent that the ruling APC is just seeking attention.
. If BAT chooses a Christian northener he will fail completely.PDP and others want him to make that mistake. Tinubu indeed is a stratesgist with his perfect political calculation. The votes in the NE will be divided now and APC will take NW. SW for BAT .He will get 25 % of votes in SS and SE too.The coast is clear for BAT victory!
Basilekeh: Actually you're right it's kind of hard to fathom that a bank will pay an entry level 350K......for the case of stanbic...their entry level starts from the Grade of ABO....if you pair them with the ABO pay grade of other banks it's kind of below what other banks pays that Grade.
Other Banks grade starts from ET/GT and after that you move to EA and after EA you move to ABO whereas, that of Stanbic starts from ABO that is why the satrting salary is 350k wheres other banks own is 200+ or 180+.
Thank you sir for yiur painstaking clarification and explanation. I appreciate greatly. The difference acconfing to you is the entry point. Once again, thank you for your contribution!
BluntCrazeMan: So you think the SE doesn't have some fears and uncertainties about the North too?? .. You talk as if everything is about the NORTH. .. Kill that thought immediately. Everything is not about the NORTH. .. Whatever that should be sold, should be sold to the whole of Nigerians,, and not just the North. .. And a promise of a better Nigeria is something worth selling. Or, is it not worth selling??
. My brother regrettably all is about the North! A critical look about our country shows that many things have been arranged to favour North.Igbos fear them too. A lot of things were done to favour the region in decision making. Till today we are still following them. The population favours them and they promote thier interests at all times. SW can't rule without the North and vice versa . We need them and same applies to the SE too and SS. If SE strategises well without crises SE presidency will be a reality
press9jatv: I watched it and read what Shettima said all through the conversation he has with ibikunle Amosun, it really shows vividly that the northern elites will never allow Igbo politician to be in power in this nation till Jesus come. Peter Obi shouldn’t waste his money and resources in 2023 presidential election, northern electorates won’t votes for Peter Obi . I project Atiku to win the 2023, the Christians in Nigeria are strongly behind him. Atiku has come to win 2023 presidential election this time around.
I agree with your thoughts that it will take a long time for the SE to produce a president. However it is possible if the region strategise and form a coalition with the SS and SW. As for the christians in the SW,however, we will vote BAT as our SON ! No South West man will follow another Hausa Fulani in 2023 after this tenure. The turn of the South to rule is 2023
. Adeleke made attempts to write his NECO through machinery at a village calked AISU in Ede .He was caught. It became a case and was remanded at Ilesa correctional center. It may interest you to note that BAT and Deji Adeleke are close and that made BAT to intervene in the crisis after the SC judgement on the election. Three years later he claimed he had had a degree! Did he write GCE ? Is their any GCE record? How did he study abroad? Machinery? If you listen to him carefully yesterday he hardly spoke English correctly for two minutes. Errors upon errors! It is logical that people are still raising questions about his education.
BluntCrazeMan: For people who talk like this,, the topic is all about TRUST, sheey?? .. Now,, if you don't trust someone, what would you do to the person?? Continue staying in the same house with him and hoping you learn to trust him?? Or find a way and get him out of the house,, or you leave the house if the house belongs to him...?? Which one would you do??
The house ,Nigeria, belongs to all of us.Nobody is leaving it. What to be done is to take steps that will establish the trust so as to feel a sense of belonging to our House. The North has some uncertainty about the SE and the fear can be allayed. Instead of doing this my great people in the SE are creating tension in the region with various movements leading to mayhem and blooddhed even of their fellow easterners. The North is weighing everything and is trying to tread carefully. Why did Kwakwanso not want to be a running mate to Obi ? If he does that his people will disown him for taking that step. SE must strategise. We all have Nigeria and are all entitled to presidency. Without this it will take a long time before we actualise SE presidency. Obi project with due respect to the SE is a waste of time, resources and energy. It can only be achieved through a mega party created out of peaceful coalition which will be sold to the North like APC in 2015. The way and condition of your room will determine how you will sleep there.
sosanova: APC Bloody janja-weed jihadist terrorists party
lies unlimited! Leave us in the SW we sort ourselves out! We are behind our SON regardless of his choice of VP.. If we don't follow Tinubu we will Atiku - Hausa Fulani ---- for another 8 years? Tinubu has the SW and his choice of Shettima will make him have block votes in the North. Mention the name of the christian in the north that can win massive votes in the north.if you want to become a president think about the North Factor.
Naijabad: APC has shown whom they really are by presenting a Muslim and Muslim ticket.
They have spelt out their intension for Nigeria and every right thinking Christian should wake up.
Think of the Christians slaughtered in Southern Kaduna, think of the Christians slaughtered in Benue.
Think of the genocide going on in plateau state. Remember Ruga, remember Cattle colonies, remember cattle routes.
The presidential candidate of APC never for one day directly condemn the killing of Christians in Nigeria.
Remember the owo massacre.
God will not fight for you Christians. It will never happen. Stop the prayers and go get your PVC.
Muslim and Muslim ticket is a slap on the over 110 million Christians in Nigeria.
. Stop spreading lies I am Chritian and BAT choice has no effect on our existence. No man born of human can islamise or chritianise the whole Nigeria. Enough of this ignorance!
Statement by Alhaji Ibrahim Masari on his resignation as APC Vice President Nominee.
BAT has finally chosen carefully a VP.against expectations of many who want him to take a community candidate as his vice. With his choice his massive votes in the North are certain.
. BAT has got a combination that has won the hearts of the North. No christiqn northerner in the North can get massive viotes for him. You must think about the north when you want to go for an election
BluntCrazeMan: The Vice Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Datti Baba-Ahmed, said that he had always been prepared, being that he was once a Presidential Aspirant.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IebXmSJtGqo .. .. .. But there are a lot of things he declined to comment on...,, And that includes “The Diezani Case”... For him to still be curving and avoiding the discussions whenever it rotated around “The Diezani Case”,, it means that the case is still very very active, and is very far from ending,, and that it is still not being handled very well by those who are handling it. .. .. Nothing about the case is still supposed to be secret or classified up till now,, that is, after 8 full years. So, what is exactly about “The Diezani Case” that everybody is shying away and running away from talking about.?? ... .. Na Waa for this our nonsense country sef.
. I have said it several times that each region is entitled to presidency. As for the South. East ,with due respect to my people there , the region lacks strategy and still dwells on the aftermath of the civil war in thier quest for recognition. A friend possibly from the region once said on Nairaland that the Civil War is affecting the SE chance to become president. He got it perfectly. How can the region achieve the goal of producing a civillan president? SE will form a coalition with the SS and SW.SW will present the case for the SE presidency. Arguably the only tribes the North can trust are SW and SS. Power given to them by the North can be returned to the North. The North does not have same belief in the SE. If the SE does not belong to the central parties and thinks a community party will make the region have a president it is just a waste of time and efforts regardless of the ]combination of the aspirants they are presenting!
kenedyx: These are very common errors I observe on NL almost daily.
Definitions and Examples Quit: to give up or give in as in "I no do again". Example: I just quit my job. Or, Shasha quit the partnership. Or, He quit smoking.
Quiet: to maintain silence or minimum noise as in "no noise". Example: Keep quiet. Or, He was quiet when I asked who took the money.
Quite: to what extent or degree do you agree or align with something. Example: I don't quite fancy Chinese food. Or, I'm quite hungry actually. Or, Today is quite lively isn't it?
Being: has to do with a person's nature or essence - also means existence. Example: He is such a kind being. Or, Being an introvert, I declined his invitation to attend the party.
Been: is the past participle of "be" and has many uses. Used to mean "visited" example: I've been to London. Or "arrived" example: The driver hasn't been here yet. Or "Express continuous action" example: the baby has been sleeping since noon".
. Nice one! Been however does not show continuity but the -ing verb that follows it does that as in I have been going to school since last year The tense is Present Perfect Continous tense. Additionally Being is a variant of Be as an auxiliary verb which must be used with a main verb. Being is preceeded by am, is ,are ,and were depending on the number and tense. Being must be followed by a verb in a past participle form. Eg. I am being tried or beaten by the man. Been unlike Being is used with variatnts of Have namely have, has and had depending on tense and number.
Who is the christian running mate in the north that can win massive viotes for APC in the North? In my opinion a Muslim from the NW or NE is logical. Senate president can be a northern Chritian while the speaker will come from the SS. Anybody who understands the voting mentality of the north will appreciate the need for Muslim Muslim ticket now for BAT 2023 project
Peacecore: Now don't u think that the implication of this judgement as the first defendant has proceeded to appeal is that if he loses d appeal n at SC that PDP won't have candidate since the plaintiff wasn't declared winner.
There is tine frame for the process. PDP is aware of this too still has time to logically complete the process .The party will ensure it plays safe in order to avoid another Lyon
fergie001: The case will be decided before the election because INEC did well this time by pushing it backwards to avert Lyon and Matawalle problem, at most November.
