This protest they say must reach 30 days ,they have been told .so let them not retreat .The doctor in London propelling then is still going to work daily and been paid .Yes ,the Nigerian youth deserves to protest but don't hide under SARS to achieve hidden agenda .We shud not deceive ourself ,if the populace want buhari to go,let them open up and say they want Buhari to step down .I can bet you that nothing can Stop this protest ,the aim is for buhari to step down ,and maybe ad they were told ,UN will intervene after 30 days .Has it ever happened anywhere in the world ?.did it happen in Venezuela ? So pls let's not decieve ourselves, the protest is now #buharimustgo

I heard several people saying that if they continuing protest for 30 days ,UN will intervene and ask Buhari to step down Lol .I am laughing lol.Gullibe people ,so make them continue .After ,covid destroy the economy and every nation is trying to recover and finish the year on a good ground .some people thinking destroying the economy and UN taking over will solve Nigerians problem .instead of relaxing the protest and give the authorities time to make changes before firing again They simply want to pull down, anyway let the protest continue ,I want to see result .

The sweet protest dat started last week has turned into something it was not initially meant for. We should have all sticked to the Endsars campaign without any deviation. Sars has been disbanded, we should have sticked for prosecution of killer sars personnel and freeing innocent victims of police brutality. Proper justice for victims of police brutality and an end to police brutality. So much progress has been made in these areas

Until some stuppid ignorant individuals decided to turn into a call for good governance, buhari must go and other political gibberish all in the name of revolution. Leading to the widespread violence we are experiencing today.

And am asking, presidential election was just last year, where did the youths stand - Behind Buhari and Atiku
Edo election was few weeks ago, where did the youths stand - Behind eze iyamu and Obaseki
Ondo election just passed, where did the youths stand - Behind Akeredeolu and jegede

Ask the youths if they knew about the young politicians that contested those elections they will tell u no.
When it was time to speak, they stood behind the same old leaders

Revolution kee all of them there
I wish any miscreant caught should replace the freed prisoners immediately

2023 will soon be here, u will soon start hearing we Igbos are behind Atiku, we yorubas are behind Tinubu bla bla bla
The truth of the matter is that Government can't provide job for everybody .even in the developed countries ,only a minor percentage is employed by Government.in Nigeria ,we want government to provide job,.I think the government ought to provide favourable ground for private investors ,people shud be encouraged to provide and create jobs ,the government need to provide a corrupt free atmosphere and our country need to be peaceful to attract foreign investors to create jobs.our people also need reformation ,so as everyone is calling for reformation,we also need to reform ourself ,people ought to fish out people who engage in dubious lifestyle like yahoo ,yahoo .expose bad politicians, expose yahoo boys ,expose thieves in the neighbour hood.

In my opinion, governance is only one half of the problem. Attitudinal change is the other half. 90% of the people protesting will do even worse if given a chance

You are right ,that is how it's done abroad.the police and the bank work hand in hand .when an unusual amount of money enters somebody's account ,the bank will notify the authorities and they will also invite you to come and explain the source of money.in Nigeria ,even the banking sector is corrupt and facilitate corruption and looting .so far as they get their share .if our bank system is working ,every movement of money within and outside the country is monitored and reported.you can't receive money without the origin and reason know .

Vickmanny22:
first of all it is very illegally and unethical to check someone's phone because you suspect he might be a Thief or Yahoo boy, it is against the human right of that person. there are other ways you can investigate someone. the police and our banks should be working hand in hand so if there's any significant increase of money in someone's bank account the bank can alert the police, who in turn will call you in for questioning and if your answer is not satisfactory enough they can get a search warrant from a judge with good reasons then they can search your phone and house simple. they can do this without violating any bodies right.

In Nigeria ,we only pay rent once in a year and not monthly and in some European countries ,u may be paying more than 300k naira monthly on rent.

I agree with you ,running electricity business for the Nigerian populace is bad business that no business man will want to venture into for now.Government is running at a loss ,why do you think that Nigerian business men like dangote don't venture into electricity generation to general public .it's because most people cannot pay for it because ,so even when they build small generating station, they supply to companies who can pay for it .The truth of the matter is that electricity production is expensive and not just as easy as people think .when you produce ,you have to maintain production ,today you are producing 5000, tomorrow vandalization and other factor has caused production to drop.some people don't just want things to be good in Nigeria.the problem is not only the government but bad people in the country.

Look, I blame the government too, many government agencies don't pay for power

But power has been in private hands since 2013.

And the problem is up till recently it cost 53 naira to produce one kWh of electricity. And we were paying 30 naira or less for that kWh

Add the fact that in some areas 40-50% of people were not paying their bills.

And before you about meter , people bypass their meters. And threaten disco workers who catch them.

Power is being run as a business. And we Nigerians are not paying enough for service. In fact government has has to bail out powe sector with 1 trillion naira yearly, and it is estimated they need one trillion naira more

You can call me a Buhari supporter. I am not. I don't even support PDP or APC. But one thing I know. If you were running a business and 50 percent of your customers did not pay for the things they buy from you you would be broke in months.

Let's get real.
Politics / Re: What's Exactly Stopping Nigeria From Having 24/7 Electricity? by ekerintee: 5:26pm On Sep 06, 2020
To have steady electricity like developed countries,we need to pay much .producing electricity is expensive,in the developed countries, you cannot owe electricity bill,u can't owe rent that is why things work .on the other hand ,I think if the government can make 24 hours electricity available ,people will become creative and find a way to pay the bills thru businesses they do with the electricity.some small African countries have constant electricity because they have small population and only need to produce small compared to the large population in Nigeria .

Because we sell power at a cost less than what we produce it, complicated by the fact that as much as 40-50% of people don't pay their bills, and even when there is meter, some bypass the meter....that means that the power sector does not have enough money to make the needed improvements

In fact the power sector is in a one trillion naira hole financially . All the discos and gencos are running at a loss.

Modified

Going through the thread I see that people are ready to blame everyone, Buhari and GEJ inclusive for the power problem.

The reason why we don't have light is because in Nigeria we think we can get a Ferrari for the price of a bicycle.

Yesterday I told someone the actual cost of power in this country as related by ex CBN bigwig Moghalu, and he accused me of lying.

We know power costs a lot of money, but accepting that truth, that in order to have stable power we need to pay as much as 60 naira per kWh is too painful

So we blame the Hausas, Buhari, the IMF, GEJ, the discos, the gencos, the executive list , etc etc.

Meanwhile most of us refuse to pay our bills, chase electricity workers with cutlasses , bypass meters, and cheat on our bills and we expect light 24/7

I think Nigerians tend to live in sugar candy land too much
Some people said it is a fight against the church, and I ask, which Church?

If the Bible is right, the Church is the congregation of believers. It is not a building or religious organisation. And believers don't need any formal nomenclature or organisation to worship. The Bible says where two or three are gathered, CHRIST is present. The Bible never said people should establish organisations, neither did the early Christians establish organisations.

Now let's look this....

A man wakes up on a faithful morning, he approaches CAC (Government) to register his organisation, which he names XYZ Church

He lists himself, his wife, Kids or associates as Trustees

He gets certificate from the government to operate...

Yet, he argues with the government that they have no right to regulate the activities of the same organisation that he went to government to register.

He shouts persecution, war against the church and God.

Meanwhile, he is the final authority and CEO in the religious organisation, and won't hesitate to show the exit door to anyone that questions his authority.

The irony is that he abides to similar laws abroad...

As much as I'm not a fan of this administration, I support this CAMA... Although Nigeria politicians are useless

FACT:

FG or any other government cannot regulate the "Church" (congregation of believers). Even the Roman government couldn't regulate the Church.

However, government can only regulate religious organisations (formal organizations) that are registered with the government in line with the constitutional mandate.

The rule is simple, don't register your organisation with government if you don't want to be regulated... Same way you don't register your business and NGO with government if you don't want their regulation...

I think it has to do with lifestyle and assess to health care,in some part of Europe ,the retirement age is 65yrs .At age of 70,most of this europeans are still strong ,they do a Lot of excercise from youthful age ,some of them don't even have cars but bicycles .sometimes those who have cars drop them at home and use bicycles ,nothing like driver abroad.so our own elders once they have money ,na to buy several cars and have drivers ,no excercise .however those elders in the village are strong assess to good health care is also another factor ,our health care system is not so good and diseases are not quickly detected and manage. Finally stress join matter to make our elders age quickly lol

The present day generation have destroyed the good name our great fathers built for us .it took time to build a good reputation but now we see young guys destroying reputation as Nigerians.ubfortunately our children will inherit a bad Nigeria ,when you say you are a Nigeria ,people look at you like a criminal , fraudster ,as someone coming from a very corrupt country.Reparing Nigeria will take a great effort and only tough and harsh policies can do that.

FacelessKing:
Nigerians are quite desperate people.

This desperation for success, though a good thing, is mostly badly controlled.

Every way na way for Nigerians.

That will be a free car my brother.

Not everybody can get a degree ,going to the university is not a solution to all problem, how does she sponsor her self there .it's not bad going to the uni but it has to do with if that is the direction she wants to go in life ,some succeed in business ,if she is intelligent and have the zeal, she can go to the university or do a part time degree.polytechnics also have part time options ,the option of open university is there .but I think survival comes first

chinchum:
If this is true, because i have doubt that a J.s.s 2 drop out can write this okay. This appears scripted IMO.

Giving this writeup a benefit of doubt, You must be clear about the complete implication of giving your daughter up for adoption. To the religious hypocrites who are all just coming up with the one way religious solution, get down from the high horse, prayer without works is dead. A vicious cycle is a natural phenomenon until something practical is done to stem the tide. My practical advise is to save to sit and pass the Senior School certificate exams, give up your daughter for adoption legally to a home that can take good care of her. Channel your anger in to a deep thirst to succeed and break the vicious cycle. With at least a School certificate in the next 2 years, give yourself a goal of getting a degree before you clock 30 years. When yokes get broken, forces align you to succeed. Pray without ceasing. A vicious cycle does not get broken without a strong will to get it broken even if you pray 23hours a day.

Sometime Nigerians think life abroad is easy .people pick money on street lol.when somebody lose so much dollars or euros ,it can lead to suicide .just imagine sombody hating all the blacks in America just because he is a victim of a Nigeria ,just imagine sombody shooting blacks because he is a victim.Nigerians shud learn to work ,things are not easy anywhere ,there are people homeless even in America .there are lots of beggars in Europe ,who have nothing to eat .hardwork pays ,if you need help, ask for help and not chose scam as a way of life .people are not given job just because they are Nigerians .

quote author=FanOfMyself post=92759785]The truth is that if there's truly a Nigerian lady ( i.e not a yahoo guy) then you need to see things from the perspective of this lady. Yes she might have lied (we ain't 100% sure that all she have told him are lies), but she might also be willing and ready to meet up with this your patient and even marry him at the end. Nigeria is really messed up economically and people here are struggling.
Let me just tell you this.
I'm in a similar situation also and the only difference is that I am a guy. I met this African American lady online sometime in February and we got acquainted pretty fast. Fast forward to today, she's really been helpful to me in financially and by extension, people close to me. In fact, I have been able to pay for tech skill and got certified all because of her. Yes I do lie to her sometimes ( infact most times) in order to get some dollars, but I really appreciate and I have feelings for her and I hope to meet her in person one day. So please consider the lady.

I have a question... Are you a lady or a man? Just curious oo
Just imagine if the guy ends up vomiting suicide because of finical debt, all thesame,u will still be tagged among the bad Nigerians for failing to help a victim of fraud.

ALEX182:
So I have this American patient who I recently came across. He's a fat dude who is like in his late 40s but has a very jolly and likeable character. I introduced myself and we got talking afterwards.

After a while of chitchat, he asked me where I was from. I told him to take a guess and he said said, you sound like you're Nigerian. I told him (regrettably) that I was Nigerian. He started smiling and told me that he had a Nigerian girlfriend and that we both had similar accents.

He then started telling me recent occurrences that had befallen his girlfriend in Nigeria. He said the lastest story was that she was in Abuja and as she was on her way to the airport in a taxi, the taxi had an accident and she was seriously injured and had to be rushed to the hospital. He said that the hospital demanded money before treatment started and he had to hustle about $4000 and send to her in order for treatment to start.

He said that after a week of her being in the hospital, they wanted to discharge her despite her still being in pain. Because she had exhausted all the $4000 on treatment, he said the hospital had threatened to discharge her on the streets and he was trying to borrow more money to see if he could send it to her so they could continue with her treatments.

He furthermore told me that the girlfriend said that she was a Nigerian American citizen who was currently stuck in Nigeria due to her passport having expired and also due to Covid lockdown at airports in Nigeria. He said she had asked him for $300 to renew her US passport from American embassy in Nigeria.

Another thing that he told me was that just before covid struck, there was a similar pandemic which happened in Nigeria early this year and that his girlfriend had contracted the disease and he had to send her $2000 for treatment. Right now he said he's broke but is waiting for like $2000 disability check from the US government next week which he will send to her as soon as the money clears.

As he was telling me this tale, I was so angry with Nigerians and how they take advantage of people in love to scam them. I wanted to swear for the scammers angry

I'm at a dilemma here. Do I tell him that he's being scammed by Nigerians or do I continue to be professional and just ignore it. Because I don't want him to think I'm involved with it because these oyinbo people can turn everything on your head and accuse you that is your people in conjunction with you that are scamming him. They are that crazy.

The good part of me wants to help him but I'm hesitant that it may turn out bad for me. Please matured responses.

Most people forget that some of this countries have gone thru very tough times before they got to where they are,do u know how Germany was after the 2nd war, they rose up to build their economy.you think they are happy to see foreigners come to enjoy what they laboured for.The bond in EU is very strong,Africans are not United,we complain of Nigeria,we ar yet to see other African countries .the western world are happy to see Africa underdeveloped, and African youth migrating to do odd jobs in europe and America,.no place like home ,make money and go back to develop your country.the sacrifice we make today is for our children not to be slaves to western world tomorrow

You see, I know that I have a strong connection with my home...that's why I may not be able to live elsewhere.

I think you people tend to lay emphasis on the positive aspects of living in the advanced countries while you downplay the downsides.

Sincerely, I love this country, and I don't want to live in a place where someone will have to constantly disrespect me because of my skin color or how our leaders have messed up our country.

I want to carry a passport that immigration officers from around the world would have some regards for.

If we all run away from this country, who will fix it? The place we are all running to, some people sacrificed their blood, time, resources and sweat to make it the envy of all.

Like I always tell people, the richest Nigerians live in Nigeria.

I think marriage shud be free from all form of interference,at an early age, couples shud be allowed to be alone irrespective of whatever the mother has done for him,he can still take care of her and she can always visit him anytime.when a third party is involved in marriage, there is bound to be clashes.like the wife not doing things to mother's standard.so it's better to avoid such,if the woman is not comfortable with the mother staying with them, she can even end the relationship and look for another person ,am a guy and won't support my inlaw coming to stay for long when marriage just start.asuming the woman self come say make her own mum come and stay ,is it not confusion,in-laws can come and visit, but to sit down permanent,no way lol

.

When it comes to age am older than you are,
I am talking based on wisdom and experience am not a social media bully, troll or warrior.
Am married and if you are, am older than you in marriage.
He staying with the mother or the mother staying with him is not an issue.
If you had said he does not have a trade or does not earn an income that would have been different but staying with the mum not an issue at all.
You don’t know what they might have gone through together .
I rest my case.
