@stillwater
I'll have to take blame fo that . . .
When I first became mod, errfin here was Modenine, Saucekid and Rugged, with a lil bias here and there I created many American hiphop threads on this section . . .
I even made one to spite Noel Gallagher fans and got it to the homepage grin grin
I got what I wanted though . . . but I ended up sending you guys away, kinda like replacing one addiction with another.

I'll try to start another Indie Rock/Death Metal drive soon, let's hope you guys come back . . .

Yes, Blueprint 3 is taking too long to be released. . .not like I can't get the songs anyway, lmao.
I've only listened to 'Jocking Jay-z' (pretty short if you ask me or is it just me?) and Swagga like us, I thought that was T.I's song. Anywayz, I loved Jigga's part, know the lyrics by heart. lipsrsealed
History is like a fusion of Nas and Notorious B.I.G
Metaphorical masterpiece?? . . . I'm thinking more in the line of Hiphop's next landmark.

About Success:
Now success was like lust shes good to the touch
Shes good for the moment but shes never enough, she's nothing like victory

@A-40
This is Jay-Z working hard to give something back to hiphop
No more 'I'm a hustler disguised as a rapper' . . . he's trying to engrave his name in hiphop history
I remember 'half orphan, Mama never had an abortion, Papa sorta did' . . . I'm thinking, this is genius disguised as 150 million a year earning rapper

I don't bother coming here again. I know people will say "ehn create your own threads" and even use 'sarcasm' to probably say you're whining, grin but who cares?  Even topics that ought to be general will turn into some rap thingy. There was a topic here about Rhythm and lyrics. The next thing I knew it became a rap thread. I totally lost my appeal for it.
Come on. . . why're you taking a cheapshot grin grin

Aight see how it goes, open a thread like The Killers- Day and Age Review, no idiot will come there to discuss Modenine
Afterall, the Rock music lovers thread dominated the section for about two weeks . . .

In the rhythm and lyrics thread was just misinterpreted, even the first poster kind of implied that he was talking bout hiphop
Same thing with my 'Artistes that should take the bow' thread . . .

Ask Karma, I've held my ground on hiphop threads by arguing from a music/pop culture perspective, if everyone rock/death metal/classical music fan can do that, you guys will be the ones claiming hiphop threads.
All we need is a few more radioheads and we'll change the section

Anyone that follows the Sports Section will see how English the section is, but now we've seen how only one bloke has brought in the German League and stuff like that . . .
Right now, the French Open, The NBA and the Formula One have busy threads thanks to these people.

History and Brooklyn Go Hard are the tracks I like so far from the upcoming album Blueprint 3.

I seriously do not care if Jay-Z delays the release of this album till year 3008, these tracks will definitely define the place hiphop holds in pop culture.

Confirmed tracks include:

Jocking Jay-Z ft Kanye West
History
Brooklyn ft Santagold
Swagger Like Us

I'm still trying to imagine what an album with these four songs, but apparently, I'll have to wait till this September.
It's easy to know why Hov would make this kind of album at his prime, he says it himself in History

But I think you're using the wrong analogy . . . the closest thing to this is the ban of the sale of alcohol in some nothern states.

Not true.
Most of the Caribbean blacks are second or third generation and therefore have a UK education.
Most Africans are first generation and have an African education.

In politics, Caribbean blacks far outnumber African blacks.
Concentrating solely on MPs is also misleading. Nearly every single authority in the UK has black councillors.
Are you having a laugh?? Everyone knows that Black-Africans are more educated than the Afro-Caribbeans

By using councillors instead of MPs, u're enforcing the concept of the glass ceiling.

How come you said Italy dominated the 90s . . . did they win every year??

For heaven's sake, we've been represented in every final since 2005
We've won two of the last four, had three teams in semi-finals for two consecutive years, had an all-EPL Final, we even beat out all three Italian reps without any assistance. And you say that's not dominance??

Blacks are definately more than 1.1 million as shown by the link above . If Nigerians could amount to btw 800k and 3 million then blacks will be around 4 million at least.

The asians especially indian and pakistani in the 50s to 60s ensured their children had high education while the blacks in the UK then were of carrebean origin did not really go for education.

It is a known fact that African blacks are more educated comparaed to their carrabean brothers. Witihin the asian bangladeshi are the least educated as they go into restaurant business and other businesses after high school. You need quality education to get into politics in this country and if you look at the background of the MP's majority of them were educated in private schools (which is damn expensive here) , studied at oxford , cambridge (i think about 60% of intakes are from private schools). Not many ethnics have this priviledge but things will change here steadily i am sure but calling for a black PM might be 20 yrs away but it will happen if obama is a successful president.
Exactly . . . wha you just explained here is that the problem is socio-economic class, not race/ethnicity

Culture › Re: How Successful Has Feminism In Africa And In Nigeria Been? by eldee(m): 9:32am On May 25, 2009
presido1:
Feminism?
This has broken many homes and will still do. One time about this feminism of a thing is that those women fighting for it did not define it very well. Yes you can fight for equality in your office or where ever you work but you cannot come into your family house to fight for it with your husband. Itz natural that your husband heads the family, itz not by his making but by God and the society. Feminism is still not achieved in the western world and i don't think they will in this century irrespective of how they try. Infact the campaign is not even as serious now as it was during the Beijing conference(Third Wave Feminism).
'God made man the head of the house' . . . this has been the main excuse for a majority of unreported crimes/assault in Nigeria.
God also says 'Thou shalt not steal', 'Love thy neighbour as thineself', but all those ones are not as important . . . we choose this one because it favours us . . . bullshit.

A thinker once pointed out that the reason why male dominance has been reproduced generation to generation is because of the fact that women never learn to stand up against it as their mothers, who should be role models are weaklings.

presido1:
How many of you feminist can work up to a man and toast him? Many things need to be changed b4 any head way and i don't think you feminist can be able to do that.
1) If Men and Women are equal why change your name to your husband's after marriage, can it be the other way round? NO.
2) Why must it be the man to do the marriage rites(Nigeria and Africa in gen)
3) Women will start popping out the question "Will you marry me" or whatever.

Until all these and many more are addressed i don't think you women will achieve equality within the family system.
That's one good point though . . . the problem with feminism in Africa is that women end to want to pick the best of both worlds
They want to be 'independent' but they turn back and marry a man that can 'take care' of them
It's funny how most female 'role models' in Nigeria rode to success on the backs of their powerful husbands . . .

Feminism cannot work if some women actually believe they (women) are inferior and should be subordinate to men.
Feminism will work if strong women will first act as role models and then educate women to tear off that blindfold that makes them feel inferior to men.
It's a collective thing, but it will work if all women, and men come together to stop it.

How can anyone say Feminism in Africa is successful??

Do you know 12-year old girls are still being married off by greedy parents??
Do you know some women still count themselves as incomplete till they get married??
Which other continent do we hear B.S like, women shouldn't talk while men discuss??
Some families still tend to will inheritance to only male children.
There are some churches that only allow male clerics and pastors, infact religions are usually sexist.
Some families only educate sons.
It's perfectly legal in Nigeria to pay men higher than female counterparts going the same job and that's the main problem.

Gender equality is not about doing the same jobs, it's about educating women to have the right to choose what jobs the want.
It's not supposed to be about bullying men, it's about breaking the gender glass ceiling.

We have a black US President in America doesn't mean racism has magically disappared, does this mean that the Jesse Jacksons should relax?? It only means it's harder to prove that you've been discriminated against on basis of your ethnicity.

Even the UK still has feminists?? Why?? To make sure there's pressure on the society to move towards the politically correct society.
Nigeria still has a looong way to go.

Seconded.

IMO, his best work can be heard between 1996 - 2002. 'infinite' the ' slimshady lp' and 'MMLP' and the numerous mixtapes and collabos he featured on. After 2002 he loses it for me. His rapping voice begins to change, which is quite annoying and he starts to take himself too seriously.

I was a proper stan back in the day but when i bought the ' eminem show' there was something missing. I hardly listened to the album and have gone off him since. I still regularly bump his pre 2002 stuff but i wont even bother to get relapse if 'we made you' is anything to go by.

It was quite disappointing to see the video and realise that this was a 'stick to formula and make money' creative effort. . . . .plus he looks drawn and gaunt, like he's on crack.
The funniest part is the fact that he's trying to use this shock effect to get attention
