berem:At least? How does having your own biological children make you a better leader? This is one of the most disturbing things I've read on nairaland. In all of my years as a nairalander, this is the worst comment I've ever read, I swear! It is people like you that keep Nigeria in the state that it is. Children are children! Whether that are adopted, gotten by ivf, whatever! They are children and they are a blessing! I think accepting someone else's children and loving them as your own is a show of good character. Goodlucks family should be used as a an example to Nigerian families that there are options for couples who have not been blessed with children. |
Godmystrength. I am not married and I am not in your situation, I am advising as someone that has seen 2 family members in this situation. You have tried. Now stop feeding your husbands laziness. That man is USING you to get his meals for life. He is SELFISH and would not hesitate to betray you if he finds a juicier deal. I understand from your story that he resorts to shouting/anger and any other means to get you to do what he wants. He is also MANIPULATIVE. I am glad you have realized this yourself because some people in your situation do not see it till after a long time. My aunty has just moved into her retirement home and her husband who has never worked a day in his life shamelessly moved in with her. You best stop making excuses and make changes now! Or you will continue like this for the next 20-30 years of your life. My other aunty, after she paid the rent and fed the family year in, year out, her husband just disappeared after 15 year of marriage, when she went to his family they told her she is not their business. She was just like you, very submissive, constantly borrowing from family members, all our family knew her, after a while they know not to expect their money back. The man showed up more than ten years later with an oyinbo woman. I am sharing this because I truly feel for you. Please I beg you, stop making excuses and make changes now! You have received some quality advice on this forum, choose not to be this mans meal ticket. As I am typing I wish I could just snap a finger and get you out of your situation, I have seen this with my eyes and it never ends well for the woman. My prayer for you is that 2-3years from now, you will have a different story to tell. |
I am an introvert. I enjoy my own company. I can enjoy sharing space with many people for a limited time, after a while I withdraw into my shell. Even at big family occasions, the first few hours with them I'll talk alot and then my mouth begins to physically hurt. People that don't know me wonder if something they said pissed me off, they have no clue in just resting my mouth. I also have conversations with myself alot! My family has gotten used to me. My mum just chatters away because she knows she won't get response from me most of the time. As for meeting the right person, I need God's intervention, I'm in my early 20s and I guess I should be building a relationship now but its just not happening as I don't keep many friends and I don't attend many social functions. |
I really hope this thread does not degenerate into some Islam bashing thread to avoid its deletion. Usermane, I couldn't have said it better. The voice against Islamic terrorism is very weak in the Muslim community. I really wonder why they always claim not to be in support but are very sluggish to openly and actively condemn these activities. I really feel that if the true followers of Islam speak up more actively against terrorism, they will drown out the false teachings some Muslims receive which lead to terrorist activity |
madridguy: Oh God, please hear the cry our your children. You are the only one that can save us. I am here celebrating eid filtri why my fellow brodas and sister were @ their religious center praising and worshiping you in their own faith. Some bad foxes went there and kill them claiming they are fighting for you Oh God. This is against your will, I am asking for your anger upon every organization, sect , society causing mayhem on your name. You are love of God. R.I.P to you sisters and brothers. Allahu yarihamuhumn ajmohinaa.I commend this madridguy, I rarely see a Muslim sympathizing with Christians whenever BH attacks them. Open and active condemnation of the killing of Christians by BH will help convince people not all Muslims are in support of BH. |
Stewee, you should take the meningitis shot if you do not have it on record that you have taken it in the past. In my school clinic, you would have to pay for a meningitis shot if you have not had it. They take meningitis pretty serious. |
Good write-up Muhsin. This is the second one I've read on nairaland drawing attention to the discrimination of Muslims in multi cultural environments How about your next write-up be about the discrimination and murder of non-Muslims in predominantly Muslim territory in Northern Nigeria. I am not talking about killings by Boko Haram, but killings by non-BH Muslims. I'm talking about killing of corp members and so on. Until Muslims like yourself, who are the good ones, start addressing how non-Muslims are treated by your fellow Muslims, it would be very difficult for non-Muslims to be sympathetic to your plight. just once, just once, I would like to see a Muslim addressing the plight of non-Muslims in the North. Just once. |
I clicked on this thread to learn which is better. This tpia lady, did you not see the title of the thread before reading it? If you did not like it, pass on by! The only person that has displayed " grossness, crassness, shamelessness and general lack of good home training on a public forum" is YOU! Do you think people were born to do your bidding? You have successfully reprimanded at least 2 people because they do not think the way you do. Every living thing on earth excretes waste so kini big deal? I am a woman and I say Sh1t, poo-poo and piss! Go and hang yourself. Nonsense! |
This threat is something. I've been angered, smiled and laughed while reading these pages. Thank God the issues have been resolved snazzylove and hispinkolo. I've put myself in your shoes and I don't know how I would have handled these situations. May God continue to grant you wisdom in running your homes. |
zeezahbee: none, its either you resume to your school for fall and transfer to another school for spring or you defer your admission now, chill in naija and start applying for another school then when you get to the us, you transfer to the new school of your choice. your visa will still be valid as long as you can present an updated i20 for spring. shikena@hayjayfeez, please note that if you intend to defer your admission like Zeezahbee advised and you do not show up for the fall semester, your school may terminate your SEVIS and render your visa INVALID. You should contact the school's international office and ask the necessary questions. |
Thanks Zeezahbee and Slimmy05. Now if I could just find where Imperouxx mentioned those insurance plans. |
Lol @zeezahbee. No worries, you can get those things at a spanish/african food store. |
@ zeezahbee the recommended health insurance cost around $1300 per year. Thanks for your suggestions, I'll call them. |
Hello thibcyrain, your rehearsal looks good. Here is my opinion. I think you could change your answer for "why did you choose to study electrical and electronics engineering?" maybe you could say that " during your training you realized the growing need to qualified electrical engineers in the country and would like to come back to develop Nigeria" I hope this was helpful |
Hey guys, any suggestions on a cheaper health insurance plan I could get? The one usually recommended by the school is expensive, I've heard there are cheaper ones. Please help! |
Hello people. The last time I commented here was on the part 3 of this thread. Its good to see the thread waxing strong. Oga imperiouxx I dey hail! My utmost respect to you. Anyway, I was at the US embassy at Abuja today for a new visa. It was granted. I realized that the rules have not changed much since my last interview and would like to re-emphasize some tips. 1. Get to know your school and program. Know everything, to the street on which it is located. Get to know professors names, titles and their work. 2. Try not to give generic answers like " I have loved medicine since I was a little girl". Show them you are a serious student by mentioning specifics about your course that only someone who has studied about it would know. 3. Practice! You have to practice your interview. Have a list of anticipated questions and your answers ready and then practice them. This will greatly build your confidence. Even if your mind blocks, your body naturally give your practiced response ( talking from experience). Lastly, just relax. Take it as conversing with your friend. I know you will be nervous but don't let it hamper your speech or composure. Goodluck to everyone who is genuinely seeking to go study. I hope these tips help you. |
I recommend Octavo. I used his services, he is reliable and efficient. Thanks for delivering Octavo. |
Thank you Ehonda for troubleshooting my sewing machine with me. God bless you. |
Ehonda. You are doing a great job here. My top thread keeps getting stuck on the bobbin holder. I have cleaned and rethreaded so many time. Its frustrating! Please help! |
Ah Efosa, how do I thank you? You are concise and clear in your explanations. please do we need linen for this project? |

Great work onnari. are there two open darts for each bust? |
First save that money in the bank. Then learn a trade, this is something that will stay with you forever. I would suggest you learn how to cut hair, or sew clothes. These are skills that are marketable in he school environment. if you know how to cook, get a tokunbo fridge and start a small restaurant/buka in your room. |
Aaarrrh! I have been trying to upload pictures of my fabric but it takes too long and the connection times out. Onnari, is it OK to replace the fabric stay with gum stay? |
donigspain: Incredible, you wrote the test in faraway Adelaide, Australia? No, I am home in Nigeria at the moment. But I wrote the shell one in Australia so it is not so unusual. |
whew! i just wrote mine. I wish everyone success. |
Gudy O, well done! Your work looks sooo good. I vote for the long, light brown chiffon dress, the first Onnari posted. I also support Cheries suggestion. |
ayodelebaba: The numerical questions were more of data interpretation, using charts. There were also word problems too. Total numerical questions was 25. Verbal was only critical reasoning questions and there was 30 of them.please, was the verbal reasoning different from the True, False or Cannot say style? |
