topeorekoy: It was an emotion-laden moment Friday at the country home of the Osokogus in Boji-Boji Owa (Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State) when late Miss Cynthia Osokogu was buried.

Cynthia, 25, who was a post-graduate student at the Nasarawa State University and daughter of a retired Major-General, was allegedly killed by her facebook friends after she was drugged and raped at a hotel in Festac Town in Lagos, last July.

As early as 8:30am, a crowd comprising family members, friends, and community leaders started streaming into the compound of the Osokogus awaiting the arrival of Cynthia’s body.

Her remains arrived at about 2.25pm and were received by her father, Major General Frank Osokogu. Cynthia’s mother, Joy was not present during the burial.

Thereafter, Reverend Father Leonard Biachi conducted a brief funeral mass, after which she was laid to rest. Tears flowed freely when the gravediggers began to hurl sand into the grave.

Her father, while fielding questions from journalist shortly after the burial said the exit of Cynthia had created a vacuum in the family that Uwill be difficult to fill, adding that the family is optimistic of getting justice "now that the cases is in court."

He expressed appreciation to local and international media for the wide coverage and prominence that followed the murder of Cynthia, adding that it had helped to reawaken his confidence in the role of the press in the society.

You won't have a good traffic for this thread because it has been exhaustively debated yesterday.I refused to comment yesterday because I have some reservations. I agree with you to some extent, and an appraisal of yesterday's topic will explain why Nigerians abroad will be more cynical and critical about the country because no Nigerian will take delight in traveling to Europe or America for greener pasture if our acts are right at home. These folks seriously want things to be in good perspective to facilitate their earlier returns, however, understood, I strongly think that there is a problem of mindset. Most Nigerians abroad could have made it better in Nigeria than abroad but people had this mentality of traveling oversees thinking it is all bed's roses.. It's not a speculation or act of trying to demean that some of our country's men and women over there are suffering black and blue and I think there is no shame in humility if they find themselves back to their route and capitalize on the opportunity provided by the quest for economic transformation. They indeed will be accommodated.

That one! We should give kudos to her for summoning courage to utter a word in the chambers after two years of acting like a statue. Democracy and capitalism go hand in hand, they are spouse. You cannot have democracy without capitalism and when you have capitalism the cost of running government become expensive. 1. For the first time in over 50 years, we are experiencig astronomical increase in power, doubling what we have generated in over 50 yrs

Britain practise parliamentary system where parliaments elect prime ministers. Their system of electing prime minister doesn't allow popular participation by the generality of the population unlike our system which allows .. No doubt the Kwara State government has a robust and detailed policy trust for the state especially in the areas of agriculture. It is also good the governor building on the template laid by Saraki on health. Robust plan if I may say but hope he summons enough will to execute them to a logical end. Let the other states in the north central emulate the struggle for self economic determination by Kwara. Kogi should harness the vast natural resources of iron ore, steel and other mineral deposits in that state as well as farming opportunities.

Let see how this plays out. The FG in her wisdom wasn't cut out for this because it could amount to another wasteful venture but for the people's pressure. After listening to intellects debate on this, whether to call for a review of the judgement or not , without sentiments I understand that a political solution would have served us better putting many other factors into consideration. However, we must put the interest of Bakassi people first.. God bless the fed rep of Nigeria and may we have enough wisdom, intellects and evidence to win this case.
