That statement means that you should always seek equal partnership with unbelievers, and never an unequal partnership.. undecided

It is this very brainless practice of relying on the vomit of your clergy that has led many to abandon the literal meaning of the statement in bold only to adopt a meaning that does not align with reality itself.. lipsrsealed
Seek equal partnership with unbelievers and not unequal one? Does that make sense? In your folly you failed to see it was actually chastising against having any partnership whatever with unbelievers. "What communion hath light with darkness?" followed suit in that passage.

One of my parents sold my first house at roofing level, I got wind of it from a friend, I asked and I was further lied to. As if that was not enough dem pressure me to bring money for roofing for house wey dem don sell oo.

I made up my mind that i won’t send #1 for the purpose of that house again and they won’t know anything I do going forward.

2 yrs later I asked my sister to buy another land and start a project, I told her I’ll lodge you in a hotel near the project so that she can finish the project before going back home, I even beg her husband we agree oo she do am to roofing level her husband asked her to come back home. Na so them leave the house, 3 weeks later her husband tell me say dem see one very good land suitable for hostel make I come buy, rush rush I pay oo, they said I should just start the building project immediately, I ask my in-law can you handle it he said yes, na so I begin pump money oo, I give my in-law the job, he gave his friend the job and his friend gave a contractor. Dem chop me nor he small but I didn’t complain because the money dey then and I thought they were using the best materials only to come naija meet 21 cracks for house wey dem complete less than 2 months before I come naija. Before I come I don buy car for my brother in law, when I got to the house I was so disappointed right there I told my sister I will never talk to her again. I went and completed the one she was building before by myself. Long story short I sold the hostel last December the same day I bought another house with money I got from selling the hostel. The hostel was just there, nobody goes there to check, even the agent I gave to help me manage it dey do me anyhow.

Because I nor get anyone else to trust I went to my parents to help me build my living house… this one na another long story.

Me, my sister and her husband are cool now, she is even going to check the house I bought in December on Saturday. She has the documents to all my properties since wife never join but I tell her say if you hear say I close my eyes forever make sure everything goes to my son.

I be senior brother, I carry everything wey happen as part of life, I love my family
Tomorrow if she sells your properties you will come here and cry. Why does she have the documents? Wetin do your hand? Wetin do bank?

Slizzords:
Good day familylanders, i consider this part of nairaland as a place with lots of reasonable and mature people so i would like to table my matter here.

Am a 27yr old guy and I have been dating this girl of mine for the past 3years now, she's 24yrs and we have been good, she works in a corporate organization and i also hustle for my daily bread too. I have been able to save a good amount of money, though i don't have tertiary education but have got a very sound mind.

Recently she brought up the issue of marriage and asked me when i intend to come and do the needful, i have met her mom and siblings on a few occasions and the vibes i got from them looks positive. I know she loves me and i also share the same affections for her.

The issue is i don't know if i should relocate abroad with the funds at my disposal because of the situation of this country or remain in naija and proceed with marriage with her.
How do you intend to relocate abroad since you don't have tertiary education? Most people that relocate go through the study route

She also works, so her job workload and household chores might be too much for her. Taking care of 2 children alone can sap someone’s energy, talk more of adding cooking and house chores to it.

Tell her to split some bills with you and then you can help out with the cooking and the house chores and also looking after the children to give her a break.

Her heavy workload might also be leading to a low sex drive. An exhausted wife is an unhappy and angry wife.
Heavy workload that has no impact on the family. What is she working for? She is presently not cooking not taking care of any house chores, they have a maid for that.

thanks bro, divorce is not an option for me for different reasons:

1. The bible is against divorce, I dont want to disobey God
2. What people will say, we come from a spiritual background my parents and her parents are pastors, alot of people look unto us role model.
3. My children, I dont want to deny my children access to good parenting, I am someone who believes the role of a father and a mother is very critical in raising a child, my dad taught me many of the values i have imbibed today such as confident, financial discipline, hard work etc. Mum taught me to be patient, tolerant and have to empathize this balance is important. I enjoyed this while growing up and dont think it would be fair to deny my children the benefits.

I think me, she doesnt respect me that the issue. if I sit her down to talk, she goes on a defensive mode and gives all me attitude. I have told her lately she needs to watch her temperament, even the way she yells at the maid, my children, our guard is strange. Very little thing she flaws up for no reason. Sometimes the way she respond to me when I ctry to give her feedback, I have to tell her why she is raising her voice, I only asking her a question.
Clearly you are an idi.ot. Keep playing the second fiddle in a relationship with someone that doesn't care about you. I'm sure she already has lots of investments in her name preparing for when you eventually split up, whereas you've got nada. Oh no, you've never thought about that!

BusinessRe: Old Notes Circulation: CBN Begins Monitoring Today, Banks Set Two-week Target by emmyN(m): 6:58pm On Mar 26, 2023
mcquin:
Wrong. Didn't want to quote you but we need to properly inform members of the public.

First, the policy caused artificial inflation. A trader who buys the naira inorder to restock will simply push the burden to the buyer by raising price of commodity.

The economy itself shrinked because some businesses could not cope, resulting in loss of jobs. In my office for example, we are major importers of frozen food (fishes). Retailers who purchase from us could not sell off their stock for nearly a month because people had no cash to make purchase and because they couldn't sell, they had no use returning to us to restock. That led to us having very poor sales in January.

This government has a knack for pushing out unsustainable policies leading to policy summersault. How do you invest in an economy that is not predictable?

Gradually Nigeria was going cashless. 6 years ago, POS was not a thing but today many people execute transactions using POS. Government should have allowed us evolve gradually and in no time more Nigerians will go cashless. Instead people ended up losing their lives, businesses, only for us to return to square 0.
That was expected at the start of the policy. I also pointed out in my post that the policy was badly implemented by the FG, then there was the bottleneck from the banks who deliberately tried to sabotage it, and the courts who finally buried it. The economy did not shrink, I'm not sure where you got your info from.

It is in the news that FG made over 11 billion naira in February alone as a result of this policy. With less currency in circulation, the FG could also save up on printing and maintaining excess notes.

You do not transition cashless economy through that means of lesser new cash. Why didn't the old and new money run concurrently for a year like other developed countries.

It's had nothing to do with Supreme Court abeg. So if there was no supreme court judgement the issue would have been resolved immediately?

Emiefele and Buhari failed woefully because the policy was never meant to fully transition us into a cashless economy.

I am ready, and I know a lot of other persons are. There can never be a better time for its implementation, else we will stay waiting forever. I learned the FG gained over 11 billion naira just last month through this policy. Imagine how much more would be made if it was fully rolled out. We try to emulate the Chinese in their economic advancement, but they use mobile payment for most of their retail transactions. See?

It is not about the court Bro.

The New money wasn't printed enough to stabilise the old cash withdrawal.

If the new monies completely replaced the old ones this scarcity would have ended in January already.
That was the point, I don't know why a lot of you don't get it. The new notes were not printed as replacement for the old ones. It was printed to withdraw the old notes from circulation so as to transition the economy into a cashless one where people do more of e-transaction for bulk sum. I still see people struggling to get 100k in cash. For what?

I think the policy was a good one but was badly implemented as they did not do enough sensitization prior to its rolling out. The banks too were lazy and did not lend their support which is the reason for the hardship most of us are experiencing. Then the supreme court came with their black market judgement that essentially usurps the power of the executive.

UBA? I'm almost certain it would happen again. Last year, A friend had his salary wiped off his account as soon as he was paid. He complained at the bank and requested they block his old ATM and issue a new one. They did. Last month, he got a cash inflow of 30k and in less than 30 minutes after the money got in his account, it was gone! This just has to be some inside job.
FamilyRe: Wife vs Husband : Family vs Career. Help Needed please by emmyN(m): 10:56pm On Mar 17, 2023
Kobojunkie:
1. Are women equal to their men in marriage? If the first answer that pops in your brain is NO, then it is clear you are aware that marriage in Nigeria is a master/slave union. It is obvious since a majority of you on here insist a woman has to obtain permission from her husband to register to take a course to better her life as an individual, so let's not drag this any further than we should. undecided

2. That is not a lack of communication at all but an expression of individuality. We are all born as private individuals from birth. Our minds are carved out separate from that of even our parents for good reason. So when in marriage many of you decide that you must know all that your wives are into while you keep your own private self's going, what you do then is strip the women naked of their individuality in order that they may depend on you for who they can or can not be. That is what a violation of another human being is. undecided

Realize this! A woman is born with the same brain structure as a man — there is no such thing as a male or female brain. It is instead society through gender-related biases that cause the gender inequality that we find in places like Nigeria. There is no natural reason why a man should pretend himself better or smarter or wiser than a woman. Instead, there are societal myths and biases that cause individuals to develop such thinking all a result of ignorance. undecided
I don't know you, but you come across as combative. This is not to spite your person though, just an honest observation. It's apparent you have some underlying issues you want addressed and don't mind lashing out at the next available person, because I'm not sure how any of these things you've typed have anything to do with the simple suggestion I made to that lady.

I'm sorry, but I can't do this with you.

What kind of sad marriage? If the marriage did not explode or implode when kids where young will it implode now that children are in college and we are warming up to be grandparents. Lol.
Doesn't change anything though. What I'm pointing out is the communication gap between you two. Well, I've seen marriages with two strangers living together for donkey years, so this shouldn't come very surprising. I would love to wave it off that perhaps it's not your style to share important events in your life with your significant other, but the knowledge that intimate communication is the bedrock of successful relationships just won't let me. Anyway, if this arrangement is working for you, then it may not be that bad.
FamilyRe: Wife vs Husband : Family vs Career. Help Needed please by emmyN(m): 10:00am On Mar 17, 2023
Kobojunkie:
1. Wrong! Outside of the shores of Nigeria, what she described is in fact the typical picture of marriage. It is not a master/slave union as most in Nigeria are used to but a partnership where partners maintain their individuality even in marriage. You can do that permission thing down there in Nigeria where life is slow and predictable and not much attention is paid to the woman and how far she wishes to go as an individual in the world. undecided

But out here, unless the man or woman is trying to dig into the family coffers or is attempting to sell the house, no need. No point! There are babysitting/nanny services for when one spouse needs to travel last minute and you can all have family in a chat group where you can keep up and inform each other where you are headed 24/7. undecided
I don't think marriage in Nigeria has ever been a master/slave union. That is an extreme adjective, and at least the one between my folks and friends isn't, and I don't think yours is either, so where are you getting the idea from? Anyway, the reason I made that comment has nothing to do with the OP's story but the obvious lack of communication the lady I quoted described in her marriage, and that certainly is not the perfect picture of marriages abroad, neither in Nigeria.

Please rest. My spouse did not know I had applied to go back for a second degree until I showed him my admission letter. Till today i find ceritifcates of courses in his wardrobe that he completes and doesn't remember to share with me. It has not killed the marriage. She gave him 2 months notice for a week long trip. That is fair.
What I don't understand is why the couple is unable to find someone to take care of the kids for one week.
They have enough time
No offense, but you are painting a picture of a sad marriage waiting for implosion.
