feelgood:

Any s/b in the house? I bought Fidelity at 3.95 and now it is going for 8.70, Do I sell?

Do not sell your Fidelity Bank shares. There is still room for appreciation.

Besides, they will have a share reconstruction that will double the price, followed by a stock split.

Look at Bank PHB and learn some lessons.
Family / Re: Should A Husband And Wife Operate A Joint Account? by enolase(m): 3:12pm On May 17, 2007
Joint account- yes. For joint expenses like building a house, investing in the children's future, etc.

Individual accounts-yes. So each party can take care of their own needs.

Of course, the husband being the head of the house should take the major responsibility for providing from the family.

What is the need hiding money from each other? This only occurs where there is distrust. If there is no trust, then what is the marriage all about anyway?
Career / Re: High Paying Job Or Postgraduate Degree In Medicine? by enolase(m): 2:58pm On May 17, 2007
Yo my brotherman,

As a Doc in the house who has tasted the two sides of the coin, let me give u my candid advice.

GO FOR THE JOB!

Medical practice in Nigeria is not worth it. How can you spend six years in the university (we never count ASUU strike o), then one year internship, and then another year in NYSC, before you can either go for post-graduate training or work in private hospitals for little pay is certainly not worth it.

As I talk to you now, I can tell you that my medical practice is the LEAST PAYING of all my income streams. My versatility is what is keeping me and my family happy, money wise.

My internet businesses and stock trades is the key to my current financial status, not my medical job. Indeed, I do not see myself practicing medicine for much longer. I will end up a CEO in the next few years.

Go to my website http://www.nairastocks.com, scroll down, and take a look at what I made from a stock trade in three weeks.

Which medical job can give you that kind of money in Naija? NONE!

I can hear some people say it's not all about money.

Men, forget that crap. Why do human beings go to school for so many years? Is it not to get a qualification that can get you a good job and guarantee that there is food on your table and money to live on?

If your profession cannot guarantee you that, then sc*** that profession. angry

Tell your man to grab the job with both hands. As far as I am concerned, if he is going to remain in Nigeria, he should forget the medical practice.

However if he wants to make money from Medicine, he can either go abroad for his post-graduate (which is not an easy road) or he should get a Masters Degree in Public Health and aim for the WHO.

Peace,

Career / Re: Is This Marketing Job Worth It? by enolase(m): 2:46pm On May 16, 2007
Eraymond My brother,

You need to discover some truths.

The owners of this firm (who have spent money to set it up) want to recoup their investments badly. Don't forget they have about 19 months to raise =N=1billion or else they have to close shop. (I am assuming they are a stockbroking firm).

They will surely drive you like slavemasters, and will look for the slightest opoortunity to deny you your salaries. (salaries constitute the largest chunk of administrative costs in any establishment).

My advice to you is this:

If you want to work there, you have to lay by their rules. The conditions are pretty difficult.

2nd Option: You can simply quit and get yourself another job.

3rd Option: Start your own business. There are several of them you can start, if you are prepared to equip yourself adequately to handle them. You can go into stock or forex trading.

You know why I like Forex Trading and Stock Trading? You do not have to do any physical work. You simply let your money and your analytical skill do the job for you.

I personally make more from stock trading and internet marketing than I do from the course I spent six years (plus extra 2 years from ASUU strikes) to study.

Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Michael Dell, Mittal, Carlos Slim, Jimoh Ibrahim, Aliko Dangote, Tony Elumelu et al do not have two heads, neither were they born with silver spoons in their mouths.

Did I mention Tony Elumelu? Great example!

How many people know that this guy who now sits atop arguably Nigeria's largest bank was a bank employee who was sacked from his job during a staff rationalisation? shocked

He had an idea, spoke to some of the high networth clients he got to know via marketing, and convinced them to finance it. That's how he bought over Crystal bank to start STB. Then he got low income earners like students, market women, etc to bring their penny money to open accounts with just =N=1,000.

Before you know it, STB had large amounts in depositors' funds to trade with, and he simply went into the businesses banks do for money (u need to read the home page of http://www.nairastocks.com).

Slowly and quietly, he built a financial empire that was enough to buy off Hakeem Bello-Osagie's stake in UBA, and VIOLA;

HERE HE IS TODAY AS MD/CEO OF UBA PLC.

This post should encourage you. You can be anything you want to be. You only have to look inwards and discover some things about yourself that will catapult you to the top.

Cheers my brother! wink
Car Talk / Re: Your Car Is 'Not An Investment!' by enolase(m): 12:59pm On May 16, 2007
Cars are definitely not investments, but there are exceptions to this rule.

I know of someone who got a contract worth millions, but lost it when the MD of the company sited him on a bike in town the day after.

It is common knowledge that in our society, the kind of car u ride can determine which doors open for you or not. In such circumstances, a car would be an investment and not a liability.

Second scenario. Has anyone bothered to find out how much Agofure, Iyare, Peace Mass Transit, IFEX Transport, ABC,  etc make from their vehicles on a daily basis?

If I spend 20,000 a month maintaining a car that gives ten times that figure in the same month, can the car be called a liability?

Remember that concepts were created by humans. We give names to situations. So in the scenarion I painted above, what would you say a car is?  wink

Family / Re: Husbands Who Ask Their Wives To Resign Their Jobs by enolase(m): 12:34pm On May 16, 2007
I think the problem here is that there is a lot of misunderstanding from both modern day men and women on what marriage is all about.

Personally, I don't think it is proper for a man to ask his wife to stay at home, especially if she is a graduate. Most times, the over-riding factor here is more of financial insecurity, not necessarily the interest of the children in their formative years.

On the other hand, I also do not see the wisdom in a woman keeping a job that effectively makes her an alien to her children. It is simply not on.

You see, that's why I call courtship a "simulation of marriage". Courtship is not just about going to suya and ice cream joints. Courtship is when such issues should be thrashed out.

My parents both worked, but my mum got a job that gave her time for her kids. Besides, who says that we cannot create the kind of jobs we do? Everybody cannot be an employee.

It's all about couples deciding ahead of time how they will live and the necessary adjustments they will make in the interest of their family unit.

Business / Re: Why Are Major Oil Companies In Nigeria Controlled By Yorubas And Hausas? by enolase(m): 1:26pm On May 11, 2007
There is something my pastor always says: A MIRACLE OCCURS WHEN OPPORTUNITY MEETS PREPARATION.

Look at the examples of miracles in the bible. If the recipients had not positioned themselves where God had programmed the miracles to occur, they would have missed out on them.

Let's apply this to the topic of this post.

The owners of these firms did not just happen to fall upon the positions they currently occupy. They had to prepare themselves for it.

Let's face it. The Yorubas have been at the forefront of financial education in Nigeria. Talk of shares, they were there before anyone. Talk of industries like the conglomerates that produce goods that are used EVERY SINGLE DAY by millions of Nigerians, (toothpaste, soap, detergent, packaged food items, etc) they are there. So is it a wonder they are at the forefront when it comes to company ownership, etc?

Now before I go on, I will like to state that I am not Yoruba. My parents are from the South South and South East.

A typical Igbo businessman is only interested in buying and selling. If you come to the South South, the mentality is simply centered around grabbing a piece of the oil wealth. There is no innovation to create something new; to develop new technology that will push Nigeria's development forward.

Crying about being marginalized is not an excuse. Look at Japan. Did they use the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki as an excuse not to be counted in world economic affairs? NO!

The Japanese decided within themselves that they would rise above the ashes and scars of WW2 and become an economic powerhouse in the world. Now Japan is the home of Toyota, KIA, Honda, Yamaha, Sony and other products that are world leaders in their respective categories. You cannot talk of cars and electronics worldwide without mentioning Japan.

Even Americans prefer to buy Japanese cars than American cars. That's why Toyota has overtaken Ford as the world's leadng car manufacturer.

Why can't the so-called marginalized ethnic groups learn from the Japanese example?

This is what we in the South South and South East need to correct. We have to make a radical shift from what has been the norm to do something more positive in the area of carving out a niche for ourselves.

Just like a member rightly said in an earlier post, why did Alams not think of leaving behind a legacy for is people? Can the other South South govs really say that after 8 years, they left a legacy that can be built upon by their people?

These are questions that we need to answer.
Business / Re: How Much Does It Cost To Verify A Certificate by enolase(m): 5:21pm On May 05, 2007
the most important thing is that u need to have a CSCS certificate. Whatever the case, the amount of money you are talking about is not too much.

stockbrokers have to eat my brother. simply get one where u will pay the least and get ur stuff verified.

most good things in life cost money. u know why it's called currency? because it flows like a current, from one person to the other.

Investment / Re: How To Turn Dividend Warrant Into Cash? by enolase(m): 5:12pm On May 05, 2007
would love to know what the "it did not work" means.

Has the warrant expired? That is, is it more than six months from the date of issue? If that is the case, then you need to get back to the registrars of the company in question and apply for a re-issue of the warrant.

if the warrant is still valid, then pay it into a current account. If u have no current account, just open one.

SIMPLE!

The Nigerian Stock Exchange is one of the few emerging stock markets in the world. Emerging markets are great untapped niches for investors.

Nigerians have one right at their doorstep, but the knowledge about how to really mine the NSE for its hidden gold is limited.

Then you have to go to http://www.nairastocks.com NOW!

Investment / Re: Obajana Cement IPO When Will It Happen? by enolase(m): 12:52pm On May 05, 2007
Rough Cut,

A company does not have to be listed on the Stock Exchange prior to having a private placement.

There are a lot of companies whose shares were given away by private placement that are not even listed yet. Transcorp gave a private placement of =N=3 before it was listed.

Investors with the bucks do not wait for IPOs. They go for the private placements.

So my question is not out of place, OK? smiley

Hello,

I am a doctor myself who is also into stock analysis.

I gained my analytical knowledge from attending lots of seminars and reading lots of books on that subject matter, and also from my own personal stock market investing experience.

Knowledge is acquired by reading, learning and experience. KNOWLEDGE DOES NOT RESIDE IN PAPER QUALIFICATIONS. wink

If it did, Bill Gates (Harvard University dropout) would not have been able to start Microsoft, Steve Jobs (high school dropout) and Steve Wozniak would never have started Apple Computers.

It might interest you to know that the profession I spent 6 years (+ 2 years ASUU strike induced extension) is my LEAST income generating stream.

I am about to take the CIS exam myself. This is the professional exam for the Chatered Institute of Stockbrokers that will license you as a stockbroker.

Go to Google, do a search for their website, logon to the site and read all about it.

I give you the thumbs up. wink

Romance / Re: Should I Marry Her Without Courting Her? by enolase(m): 7:19pm On Apr 30, 2007
courting is all about simulating marriage. short and simple.

U live in UK. Of course every girl wants to date a guy with pounds to spare, and will be at their best behaviour.

But marriage is a different ball game. U see the good, the bad, and the ugly side of the other person. if you do not see all those sides now (so u know whom you are marrying), how can you know the character of whom you are marrying?

Let me advise u brother. Forget about this girl u are dating on phone, and get another person with whom you can PHYSICALLY spend time with to get to know the face behind the mask, the person on the inside.

Don't forget. External beauty will fade. But the person on the inside will remain the same.

SO FORGET THIS "CYBER" (or is it VIRTUAL) dating you are going and get real!! wink
Investment / Re: Dangote Sugar Refinery Shares: 18 Naira At IPO, Now 56 Naira! by enolase(m): 8:33pm On Apr 28, 2007
Anyone who bought Dangote shares and received share certificates will not make money with this stock. Why? It takes time to demobilize the certificate and convert it to electronic form (CSCS number). By the time an intending investor passes through this process, the stock would have depreciated and eroded the profit margin.

Only those who had pre-exisiting CSCS account numbers and who filled this in the form can sell and make money from it.

To those who need to know more about how to make real money from stocks using sound analysis and not guesswork or trial and error, go to http://www.nairastocks.com.

Stockbrokers are generally only interested in making money for their firm, regardless of whether your stock is losing or not. Of course, stock investments are also risky. Ask the Cadbury investors who are still dipping their hands in cold water after getting them horribly burnt by the financial overstatement scam.

Best bet? Get a financial analyst on your payroll. At least since what he earns from you depends on how much he is able to grow your investment, a financial analyst will be more accountable.

Check out http://www.nairastocks.com. Might like it.

All those who are laying the phenomenon of cybercrime on "igbo boys" are a bunch of ignorant people. Are the igbos responsible for all the crimes in this country?

Nigerians should stop this tribal shit and fight the Western imperialists who are always painting us black.

Check your bulk mails. How many are sent by Nigerians (or do I say IGBO PEOPLE)?

Westerners are the main perpetrators of cyber crime. People like Oprah Winfrey should be ashamed that she is allowing herself to be used by haters of the black race to paint black a country with the most industrious people in the world.

Religion / Re: Why Are Some Christians Poor? by enolase(m): 3:27pm On Mar 03, 2007
Let me spell out the answer!

I am a Christian, and so no Christian reading this should be offended.

Tithes, offerings, prophetic seeds, firstfruit offerings and vows, are all necessary so that the practising Christian will have an "open heaven" over his life. This means that the road to accessing the blessings will be there.

The problem is that Christians do not recognise the opportunities and avenues through which those blessings come. That is the problem.

If I open an account for someone and pay in N5million, and the person I opened it for does not even know that he has such an account, how does he access the money?

This is where majority of poor Christians miss it.

How many Christians are sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit to find out the various opportunities that God has placed here on planet earth for His people to be rich?

God has placed a gold mine for Christians, especially in Nigeria. But how many realise it?

I will list out here the various means open to any Christian who wants to access the blessings of God in 2007 and beyond.

1) Trading in forex.

2) Trading in the Nigerian stock exchange (NSE). I have personally made so much money since Jan 4 2007 from this. Stocks like Tripple G (500% returns on investment), Bank PHB (200% ROI), NAHCO (500% ROI) and the Insurance stocks are the hottest in the market right now.

3) The current cassava craze is a money spinner that is there for the taking. How many people know about the new Cassava ethanol refinery to be built in Kogi State? How many people know that Crown Agro Allied Investment Ltd, the company building this refinery is raw materials that are readily available locally?

4) Breeding and selling pure breeds of dogs is a goldmine. Alsatian pups go for as much as N25,000 each in PH.

5) Fish farming

The list is endless.

My advice is that Christians should open their hearts to the leading of the Holy Spirit and their ears to the news and what is happening around them and capitalize on the opportunities that currently abound.

So my fellow Christians, wake up and be counted among the rich in Nigeria today so the gospel can be sponsored!

Religion / Re: Prayer Warriors Say My Boyfriend Is Not The Husband For Me by enolase(m): 5:57pm On Feb 06, 2007
Let me tell you my personal story. I dated my present wife for four years. In one of those years, I lost my job and hit real crisis financially. By then she had a good paying job, and she stood by me through my period of trials, even when heavily wadded suitors were coming.

Just when it was time for us to get married, the "COMMITTEE OF CONCERNED EXTENDED FAMILY MEMBERS" (who never contributed to my education or even helped me in my time of need) appeared on the scene, and tried to convince my parents to refuse her as a daughter-in-law. Reason? Her parents are divorced. My mum was almost taken in by their argument, but my dad supported me all the way, and eventually my wishes were respected. Today, my wife and I are happily married, and I tell you she is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

My advice? You should be careful of these so-called prayer warriors, especially when it comes to the issue of choosing a life partner. God Himself does not impose life partners on people. The first and only time he did; Adam the recipient blamed him for it after eating the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden. After that, it became a matter of choice and freewill.

I think your mum deserves some education in such matters, if in the year 2007, people still resort to such methods and cause their children so much pain.

STICK TO YOUR CHOICE VEHEMENTLY! YOUR MUM AND DEFINITELY NO "PRAYER WARRIORS" CAN MAKE YOUR CHOICE FOR YOU. IT'S YOUR LIFE, AND YOUR HAPPINESS IS AT STAKE.
