Hahahahahah! Another wahala wan start again. Very soon, they will start kidnapping Commissioners and special advisers. So it is not only oil company staff anylonger?? P/H don dey become dangerous place o! |
This is one of the things i think about when i consider coming back home to Nigeria. Will i have access to good health care? Even though we pray never to be in that situation, you can never tell what will happen. Imagine paying hundreds of thousands or millions, BEFORE you can even get any preliminary treatment? Sad, very sad. |
We dont need any hurricane Ike or such. We have our own local natural disasters, Hurricane Abacha, IBB, OBJ and others. They have done much more than any hurricane, earthquake or flood has done in America, Japan, etc |
I do not doubt this conclusion by world bank. Looking at the country, the infrastructure is not there for conducive business to be run. There is no constant electricity to run computers, trains, A/C's (owing to the heat), P/A systems, etc. Every business has to plan for generators (and include in their plans, the funds to purchase petrol and engine oil) The roads are poor and very very bad. Transporting goods around the country will proove to be an uphill task for many companies. I worked in telecoms where transporting base stations and switches from Lagos to benin etc was a herculian task. Imagine trying to get across the Benin/Sagamu road with the deep gulleys and breaks in the roads. Policy/Government attitudes. With each successive govt, new laws and policies are enacted. E.g. Yar'Adua is either probing or revoking the businesses that were signed into existence by OBJ. Whether these were fraudulently agreed to be OBJ's cabal is not the case. The mere fact that there is no continuity in govt is a poor indicator that the business climate in Nigeria is not continuous. These are some of the things that prompt the world bank to rate us low. |
I am about to say that only God will help naija but, wait, wait, i have just seen a vision that God sef just dey look us to see what we naijas will come up with next, ![]() |
This is what i will say to Yar'Adua, "Bros, which kind mumu you be? You know say you no well, na im you come dey take the responsibility to manage Naija? Even peopo wey get dem health correct correct dey suffer for the seat na im you, wey dey near grave, think say you wan come dey do strong man? Bobs, if you like ya self and ya family, make you quick resign go rest for house. Otherwise, na inside that Aso rock you go die and if you never perform, we go take your name drag am for mud o" "Bros, i no dey insult you. The advice i dey give you na the same i go give my papa if na im dey that chair". THAT IS WHAT I WILL TELL YAR'ADUA. |
carmelily:Yes o, my sister. You got this one right. None of those people set out to do the job they are doing. I can bet my next months salary on that. However, due to the hardship in the country, na wetin your hand see to do, na im you go do to earn small money. However, i really think these guys should be appreciated. A smile, handshake, small reward (N200 - N500 for them to buy 'coke') is not our of order. |
pearlyseed:Thot i was the only one that noticed this, panteleonk:Lol, Oga, small small now! I know you are upset but there is no need to explode - even though naija matter dey cause am sha! |
Hey Guys, its just a vicious cycle going round and round. They claim to have recovered money from Ladoja, which they will return to the state, Abi. But is it not in that same state that they are harassing Alao-Akala for embezzling some money? Meaning that - if they return the recovered money to the coffers of Oyo, Akala may just see this as a chance to enrich himself further. I sometimes wonder what happened to all the money they recovered from Abacha and his cronies. Ibori, Igbinedion, Odili and others are still out there too. We have all forgotten that at one time, they were also charged with some crimes, AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. Sometimes, the situation in Naija makes me want to cry. |
Seun:Lets not castigate the writer of the post because i can understand his point of view. Because there are no waste bins around does not mean we should throw waste around indiscriminately. Neither is that reason that people, grown men, women or children should defecate openly because there are no public toilets. For Gods sake, i have seen people doing their stuff right there in the open, at Adeniji, just coming off the 3rd mainland bridge and at CMS, just a little distance from the entrance into VI. THAT IS NOT GOOD. Even if there are no toilets around, simple etiquette warrants that they 'hide' themselves to do their stuff. Nigerians are in the habit of complaining, YES, why not? When the powers that be can not, or rather, WILL NOT, provide the amenities that they should, why wont we complain? Besides, it is not only Naija's that complain. EVERY BODY EVERYWHERE COMPLAINS. i live in the UK now and everyone is complaining now, due to the 'apparent economic downturn'. Americans are complaining because of Bush. The Israelites complained to Moses, EVERYONE COMPLAINS when things are not as they should be and certainly in Nigeria, things are not as they should be. |
Well, this is just another story we are used to. Bloody thieves! I say it over and again. Many of these politicians no go die betta |
dosbel:I feel you jare. We are indeed in a troubled spot and are not doing anything to rectify that. Your synopsis is spot on. There is one question though, how possible will it be to focus on kids whose minds are not yet polluted? There is no way they will not interact with the environment, thereby avoiding the possibility of being polluted themselves. I mean, parents, the teachers, friends etc will definately rub off on them? Whaddya think? |
Honestly people, why would there not be rumours? When the man himself (and the government) will not make public, the extent to his illness. Is it a bad thing if we know how ill our president is? Will people not get together to pray for him? But this one where there is so much secrecy behind it, why will the rumours not fly? Anyway, if the man die, make im die now! Death is a fact of life and it will happen to everyone one day. |
Good idea in theory but may be difficult to achieve. I agree that we should start somewhere - maybe pregnant women and children. The question is how this will be funded? |
Do we remember 'Coming to America'? That story may be one of fiction, but i think we should look at the morals. Not everyone is interested in the monarchy. Some people want a simple, very simple life. If what they are doing can pay the bills, so be it. He may not want to be an Oba of a small town, in which there is no electricity, water, good health care etc. He may not want to 'govern' people who are (forgive my words), 'illiterate' or 'villagers' or who still think the 'native' ways. Allow the guy jare, he may be experiencing the kind of FREEDOM many in Nigeria - including the present monarchs - are not experiencing |
bawomolo:Abeg helep me tell them o. Me sef no understand at all, why this obsession for Obama is hitting Naija. |
ICPC has done a good job and we thank them. So insightful. So on target. Wonderful. Excellent So, WHEN DO WE TACKLE THIS PROBLEM? Na the question be dat. We can continue blaming the north or east or south or west or whoever. We want solutions and not the finger-pointing that is going on. |
HHHmmmmm nna, have you seen some of these asian girls, LOVELY. i often say that if to say i never marry, me sef for marry asian girl. But seriously, the people on this thread have already stated the reasons. Asian women are more versatile than the typical western women. Many are well brought up, cook properly, soft spoken and easy to be with and talk to. Finally, they stay well maintained on a very low budget ![]() |
hollandis:I agree wit you jare, and imagine, her boyfriend of ONE MONTH |
Return home to what. Has any of you noticed that those who return home to try and help end up running back to where they came from because the system cannot 'support' them. Other than that, we Nigerians have a way of rubbishing the efforts of each other, even when the best motives are put into the task. Think of Okonjo Iweala and how she eventually left. Even after leaving, politicians started insulting her and claiming that she stole money etc etc. Yet, the World Bank still saw fit to employ her again. WHY DID NIGERIAN NOT FIND SOMETHING FOR HER TO DO? With the poor infrastructure, hopeless legal system, useless governement and an equally difficult people to manage, wetin go make some of us come home? Well, maybe when we are headhunted into foremost Multinationals on crazyyyyyyyyyyyy salaries, we can consider. I cant wait for my turn to be put in one of those companies. THAT IS THE ONLY THING THAT WILL BRING ME BACK TO NAIJA. Will Fashola give me a job? Will he provide the kind of comfort i am experiencing here in Naija? Will he provide good healthcare for myself and my family, good and un interupted education for my kids, good and safe roads for transportation, etc. NO. SO WHY SHOULD I RUSH BACK? |
I agree. Obj was DOING THINGS, even though they turned out to be futile or wrong. Yar'Adua is doing NOTHING. I mean, Obj was a man of the press (even though he often insulted them). What i mean by that is, he was always giving speeches, speaking on his talk shows, giving an opinion of something, travelling abroad (the first few years), DOING SOMETHING. The present guy na just siddon look. A bloody mumu. I dont mean to be tribalistic o, but he is behaving like a typical Hausa/Fulani man! |
In a way, i tend to agree. With our population, resources, capabilities and potentials i tend to think that we destined for greatness, regardless of what is happening now. That is why we see companies like Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Cisco, GE and other worldwide companies using Nigeria as their regional hub for West and Central Africa operations. |
Anybody and Everybody is most likely to cheat! You cant categorize people in this area. The rich cheat, the poor, the religious, men, women, etc. |
What the hell kinda post is this? Your friend should know the answer to this na! She should check herself properly and ask herself why her husbands friend is coming on to her. What is she doing to encourage it? I mean, there are some women you look at - beautiful, sexy, intelligent, etc etc - who have that aura of NO NONSENSE about them. Woe betide the man who makes that pass at them, Does your friend exhibit such a trait or attitude? If not, she should develop it for God's sake. Otherwise, the lady should tell her husband now, unless she is secretly enjoying the attention (Probably cos her husband is not giving her any). If all else fails, SHE SHOULD GO AHEAD AND SLEEP WITH THE GUY, and wait for the consequences. Hiiiiiiiiiiissssssssssssssssss! |
Errrrrmmmm, 20, 21 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ? I may sound a bit old fashioned but what are you doing thinking about relationships now. I think this is the time to build up and make something of yourself SO THAT LATER ON WHETHER THE MAN IS YOUNG OR OLD, you will be a self reliant woman and will be able to 'dictate' the pace of your desires. But to answer your question in the strict sense of it, you can find a mature guy of any age. I started dating my wife (who was then my girlfriend) when i was 22 and she was 19 (you may say i am contradicting myself because of my opening statement of 20 being a bit young). I am 34 now, married to her and we are still as lovestruck as we were then, with a 6 month old cute baby girl. |
femzy:Na true sha, i have not thought of it this way. Lolllllllllllllllllllllllll |
Hey guys, it is not just in America these things happen. I am in the UK and i hear it is extremely difficult to get a job here esp when you do not have a degree from their one of their schools OR come in with some flawless work (multinational) experience. Yes, i guess it is a case of them not trusting our degrees, or not believing that our 'third world' thinking, technology, processes etc, can sustain their high tech development. Secondly, when i left Nigeria a few years ago, i had about 5 years experience in some top multinational companies, that afforded me the opportunity of a lot of foreign trips. I schooled in the premier university in Nigeria too. When i got here, i enrolled in a Masters program in one of the top universities here and MAN, I REALLY DID FEEL THAT I WAS LEARNING SOMETHING. I regretted that i had my first degree in Nigeria at that point because the way we were taught in the classes here, words cannot explain. Needless to say, there were 5 other Nigeirans in my class and WE ALL CAME OUT ON TOP, beating students of other nationalities, including the British. Of all of us 6 Nigerians, only two of us have jobs. The other guys have been applying for over a year now and nothing has come out of those applications Meanwhile, it took a while for me to get the job i have now, even though i had very good results from their school, and top notch experience from the top multinationals. These two things are what even got me to the interview with my present employers cos in the interview, they kept on asking me about my experience in my former job and questions pertaining to my MBA. BUT IT TOOK A WHILE FOR ME TO GET THAT INTERVIEW, AND THE JOB. MEANWHILE, I HAVE BEEN APPLYING ELSEWHERE FOR OVER A YEAR NOW AND HAVE HAD A FEW CALLS, NOTHING HAS COME OUT OF THEM YET. PATIENCE, |
jassie:Bros leave that wan o, you never see am before? Na today? Nothing go do the man mouth o, Hahahahahahahahahahahhaha. You guys on this thread are killing me men. I am sure the guys in my office think i am mad, with the way i am laughing |
Lol. Hahahahahahaahhahha. All the comments on this post are killing me. Especially the one about the 8 yr old girls being sold. I have a little one year old girl and i definately will not want that to happen to her. In this world, there are rights and wrongs and there are some things that we cannot change. This may be one of them! |
