L'obatan. Tinubu's so clueless. If this situation isn't properly managed...I rest my case |
Nollywood in general is an avenue for the promotion of advanced whoredom. They sleep with each other for fun at locations. Women are said to be sleeping with men for roles. Smh |
Phranx1:The poorest region on earth with the highest number of out of school children |
FairlyUSEDpussy:How much is that, compared to the free PR, 10kusd, etc? With the free PR, she'd make that money in a year. She's made for life. This is the mistake our leaders have made by not encouraging French as a second language in schools since independence. I still don't know the benefit of being a member country to ecowas. This should be one of their agendas as a regional bloc...common language. This doesn't have anyrhing to do with who colonised who. Whereas, hardly would you see a Franco fone country who doesn't understand English. There are lots of benefits in being bilingual. I used to hire a translator each time I travelled to Benin for projects cos not all of them speak yoruba. They speak French in offices. I got to France one day , wanted to buy stuffs at chatelet des halles, I couldn't speak French and the seller didnt understand English. I looked stupid lol. By the time i got home, I had to subscribe to babel by fire by force. Now, I speak French like locals, without hiring a teacher. |
Better. Niger is a sovereign state. They may leave ecowas or AU if they so wish. Its a voluntary organisation or union anyway. Morocco left the the OAU in the 80s and heaven didn't fall. They remained even stronger and better economically. Today, Morocco is among best developed countries in Africa, ranking far ahead of Nigeria. Google will put doubting thomases where they belong. Enough of brouhaha about Niger. Their people are in support of the coup. The army said they'd speed up transition to civil rule. That is encouraging enough. Buhari and his allies took over power by coup in the 80s and nobody sent army to Nigeria. Today, democracy has returned and we've been in it for over 2 decades with little or nothing to show. How many private hospitals did we have in the military era? Its because our public hospitals were well run. Abdulsalaam Abubakar commissioned the National Hospital, one of the nation's prides today. The military built the federal medical centres. Public schools were the best cos of infrastructure. The reverse is the case today. How many fed hospitals had the fed govt built since 1999 under democracy? Sadly, Nigeria hadn't witnessed much development than when the military was in power btw 99 and now. Military did far more projects than what the civilian administration has done and records have shown. If not their brutal style of rule, I prefer them to all these corrupt politicians shouting Hais and Nays in the NA. When the 3rd mainland bridge was being commissioned, I was like, who gave these people the vision they had? Meanwhile, they've been shouting 4th mainland bridge since 1999 during election period. Naira was so strong back then. Nigerian universities hardly went on strike because they were well run..there was discipline everywhere. But the west never liked it cos they didnt have access to our resources to steal from. Military would do projects without making noise. What they're stealing today individually is more than what ahacha stole. Mr emilokan alone has several accounts in foreign banks. Those shouting democracy back in the days only became beneficiary of it at the expense of the masses they claim they were fighting for. We can see how many private jets one single person had today. We can see how a super corrupt fellow with the efcc case dangling on his neck is becoming number 3 person in Nigeria today. Is that what's called democracy? Is that the way its being practiced elsewhere? Someone should remind me of the dollar rate today, what they once said was not okay at 250 naira. They're not even talking about it anymore. Nigeria is such a funny country. They'd leave leprosy and be treating eczema. Things they're supposed to stage a nationwide protest over, they'd be defending , out of sentiments. I wonder if being sentimental would put food at their table. How on earth would 1,000 naira which used to be exchanged for 10,000 cefa a few years ago become so worthless that the same cefa has now overtaken it in value. Is that a good omen?. Obasanjo met crude at about 30usd a barrel, managed the economy with a good team and our naira was as strong as ever. They accused Jonathan of corruption and mismanagement of the economy, gained power via propaganda. They said he enjoyed oil boom for 2 years but squandered the money. He squandered the money but most of his laudable projects which he'd have completed had he done a 2nd term were being completed by the apc in 8 years. We've been enjoying good crude sale for a reasonable period of time now but they're not saying anything. In spite of all these , naira keeps falling in value. They said you guys should be using gas to fuel your car and operate your generator but never led by example. They still travel in convoys all over. These people had done worse things that could cause military to come back to power and if care isn't taken, nothing is impossible. They could still come back and if they do, we should hold all these thieves in power responsible. Retiring a large number of general compulsorily as tinubu did recently which still angers the affected can't stop coup plans. The onus is on the government to do the needful by letting the poor breathe. His economic policies aren't working. I learnt he invited Okonjo Iweala recently. He should do more. Its about developing Nigeria which should be a collective agenda. He should stop chasing shadows. Apc said it was aboki fx who was responsible for the free fall of naira , later they said it was BDCs, later they fingered commercial banks whom they've stopped disbursing fx to. Now, they're saying its the diversion of diaspora remittance to the bdcs that caused naira to lose value, they also blamed emefiele as if he's still the cbn governor...those sending money home from abroad didnt start doing so yesyerday. I remember the era of western union, money gram, etc. Once you received money through them, you'd go to bdcs to chahge it to naira yet, it never affected naira value. People are asking for a reduction in their excesses but they care less. If coup takes place today, I'd just say its long overdue. Last week, over 25 military voluntarily retired due to poor remuneration and welfare. But those they're defending are living large, sharing allowances for a vacation. It's well with Nigeria. We're still sleeping |
Slaying without sense, smh |
Aonkuuse:Is tinubu a leader? Don't mind that guy . You want to invade a sovereign state when they didn't take your land. No be juju be dat? How many African countries invaded Nigeria when buhari unseated shagari in the 80s? That's why buhari has been quiet. He has no right to say pin because he too was a former coup plotter |
Ikaeniyan0:FYI, the people of Niger loved the take over by the military. Stop staying glued to nairaland and national news always..dey watch foreign news small small. . My partner in Niger is also in support. See his response
|
brain54:Please tell them. They even downed our military fighter jets twice. Fighting a war no be by how many battalion or ammunition you have but how strategic you are |
Ikaeniyan0:If ordinary boko haram could deal so mercilessly with our military, to the point of downing their fighter jets, you've got no reason to compare them with Nigerien military truly. Look at how fierce-looking they are, compared to our fashionista generals. Dem get no joy at all. I'm Nigerian and I remain loyal to her..truth be told. We will disgrace ourselves if we dare send military to a sovereign state of Niger. |
No be aboki fx and commercial bank sabotage again?? . How much is being remitted sef from diadpora and being diverted to bdcs, which is now weakening naira? Na today dem.dey remit money nii. Werey lawon eleyii oo ![]() Na revolution go stop all these nonsense. We're not ready yet |
CaptainFM1:No. They rather came back home after being taken into slavery. Rhey were lagosians who returned home. They all spoke yoruba when they came back while some chose to remain there. You can call those ones s slave descendants. |
Oluwabukolami Adeyemi and Mmesomachukwu Okonkwo, both teenagers and students of Chrisland School, recently put Nigeria on the global map as they received the British Council Outstanding Cambridge Learner’s Awards, following their stellar performance in the 2022 Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge AS Level Examinations. The duo spoke with YEJIDE GBENGA-OGUNDARE on the feats and the opportunities opened to them. I am 18 years from Ega in Kogi State and a student of Chrisland Pre Degree College, Lagos. Unlike Mmesoma, I did not write IGSCE, I wrote Cambridge International AS levels Law exam commonly known as Cambridge A Levels, Prior to writing that exam, I have never done any other Cambridge exams, so it was quite strange to me when I started preparing for it, but I had support from my teachers and principal, Dr Agomoh and my parents. With A Levels, there is a lot of independent study that has to be done, so I had to prepare for my summer in 2022 to prepare for the exam coming up in October. Throughout July and August, I was in school preparing for exams, I had to do past questions, analyse the maths scheme and read a lot of textbooks. I put in a lot of hard work and sacrifice as I couldn’t do a lot of what I was doing when everyone was on holiday, but I think everything just worked together for my good. I am being celebrated because I recently received recognition for an award from British Council and Cambridge International Assessment Education for having the highest mark in the world in Cambridge International AS Level Law, that is Top in the World Cambridge International AS Level Law and High Achievement Award in Cambridge International AS Level Psychology. What is the next thing for you? A levels is a step further than IGSCE, so it’s giving me direct entry into the university in the UK. That means I have only three years to study Law in a university in the UK. So I think the next big thing is for me to take opportunity of the admission I have gotten and resume school and continue to further my academic journey. I have numerous offers from schools in the UK, so in due time, I will pick my choice. What’s your Chrisland experience like? My Chrisland experience started when I was one year old; I attended preschool, nursery and primary school in Chrisland School, Ladipo Oluwole. Afterwards, I left high school and came to Chrisland for my Cambridge A levels which is what I did in Chrisland pre-degree college. It was a very welcoming environment. I didn’t resume early, but I had people who were trying to get me into the system fast like the housemistress, A levels coordinators and lecturers and helped me to settle into the system properly. Academically, I would say the lecturers were intentional about everybody’s individual journey. Mmesomachukwu Okonkwo I am 17 years old and from Anambra State. We wrote the exam in May/June last year, six subjects for most of us. This year, I went to the British Council to receive the Top in the World award for English IGSCE as a second language. So out of the millions of students that wrote the exam, I emerge as Top in the World in English; the English exam was theory, there was no objective. It was in three parts, all theory. We had to do writing and listening and speaking for the exam. While preparing for the exam, there were challenges, as I said it was theory-based and one of my first exam, unlike my WAEC exam which was theory and objective. It was a bit daunting for me. What’s the next step? The next thing for me is to go to the university to study Business Management. Hopefully by this time next year, I will be studying the course. I am also thinking of internships and learning a few skills as well before going to school. Why the choice of study Business Management? I chose this because it is something I am passionate about and I feel I could do it very well. I started a small business when I was in year seven or eight and it was something I loved doing. I also feel that business management is very versatile. So in a world where Artificial Intelligence is emerging more and more, you want to take a course that is versatile and you can move around with. If you were to choose any other course, what would it be? I would journalism because it is not necessarily an English -based course but with my knowledge of English, I will use it to write as well. So I think I will like to do journalism How was your English before now? I have been doing very well in English and it is my best subject. Sometimes I get the best in English Language in my set and some other English awards such as best essay writer, etc. How did you prepare for the exam? There was a preparation I did with my mates at school. Not everyone took the exam, only a few students who were interested did, so they separated us; while the regular students did school work, we in the other classroom had educators coming to take us in all the six subjects that we offered. We would spend the time doing past questions on Cambridge website; we would have mock exams similar to IGSCE. Our teachers will make us pick a few topics on essay writing; I think that was what really helped. I treated the past questions one by one until I covered most of it. Which countries are you looking up to study? United Kingdom and United States. What’s your Chrisland experience like? Chrisland is all I have always known, not only because of the academic backing that we got, my teachers in particular have been helpful from the start, part of the reason why I am always motivated to do well. I also enjoyed the extracurricular activities. They are always looking for experiences to make us grow. Aside from the school things we do, we go out for multiple debates, competitions and arts as well. So they are always getting us involved in things that will incite our passion. https://tribuneonlineng.com/we-emerged-top-among-millions-from-across-the-world/ |
BOSSkesh:If you truly do, why don't we participate actively in lagos politics but always allow non-indigenes hold sway? We're too entangled with books and professions. We need to wake up. Lagos deserves better. Dad is from Akoko side of edo state, born to the family of a man whose grandfather was among the early educated people in Lagos. The Pearse family. In essence,.my great grand dad was lagosian who was a forest guard in the colonial era and was posted to ondo, now settled in an old ondo town which was later merged with edo during state creation. There he gave birth to granddad, who gave birth to dad in Lagos and dad married a lagos lady. It's like retracting the roots. Pearce isn't Ondo or Edo name but that of Lagos. Great grandpa's House on Lagos Island where he lived before his posting to the town where he settled down and married is still there till date on bangboshe Street, near Upper campus area. I was there recently. |
FreeStuffsNG:I wonder why these people don't participate in Lagos politics actively. Most of them are either lawyers, academicians, engineers, etc. Its high time we begun being relevant in our land. I was discussing this with my uncle recently, the last born of uncle Femi-Pearce. 2027 will be interesting. Details later. |
incandescentena:Emefiele isn't there anymore. Dollar was 720 before he was picked. That I & E window fx policy introduced by tinubu caused the current economic woes. He was warned against it by some economists but he refused to listen. GBP is going to 1,200 naira now...just one pound. Benin Republic Cefa, which used to be 10,000 cefa to 1,000 naira has now overtaken naira in value. I don't know what else to call this if not madness. |
MS247:Google is your friend. No need of proofs. It's all over. Yiu can check it yourself |
helinues:You don't have to be surprised my friend. This is Nigeria where leaders lack integrity. They easily swallow their vomit whenever they're desperate to grab power. If his name still surfaces tomorrow on the list and they say its a mistake don't also be surprised. You and I must ensure we wash this country clean and rid her of corrupt practices and other vices, instead of supporting the so-called leaders. It's not for our sake, but cos of our children. They must not experience this rot. |
MS247:They've started again. Which United nations exactly are you talking about? If its the same UN he attacked with a body bag comment, better rest your excitement. |
Hahaha haha. Where are the he will still be confirmed apologists? El-Rufai isn't only a bad figure in the society. He's also not someone you could identify with |
Lanretoye:Get to work guy. People have made millions today already. No be every comment you dey respond to. My 50 cents |
Smh |
theophorus:Who would blow it up...terrorists? Niger is one of the safest countries to live in Africa. Or is it war that will blow it up? Niger is a sovereign state, just like Nigeria. If the ecowas wahala is much, they may leave the union amd stay alone. People should stop treating this country like its a Nigerian territory |
Acekidc4:You made sense but the federal government policies aren't good at all, to encourage growth of the local industries. Why do you think multinationals are going to Ghana while some others left for their home countries? These companies have been here before independence. Those producing locally don't have fx to order raw materials and where available, the rate is so high. By the time they now produce, they look more expensive than the imported ones cos they need to make profit. You don't blame those patronising imported goods and am sure you'd do the same if you had the opportunity. The quality of the locally produced ones has also been compromised due to harsh economic conditions. Locally produced goods are supposed to even be cheaper due to access to.raw.matetials and loan but you find out that the reverse is the case The federal government, while encouraging local production, should ensure there's enabling environment for local industries to thrive. In the 90s , up to early 2000s, smes could easily access loans from commercial banks. It doesn't happen anymore and where its available the interest is killing. Our givernment isn't serious yet. |
Here they come again. When last did the cbn allocate fx to commercial banks? Can you give what you don't have? We've been waiting in the line for form .Q transaction of ordinary 20,000usd which we're legitimately entitled to on a quarterly basis since March, but the cbn had refused to disburse fx to commercial banks. The last time emefiele said it was aboki fx and later they accused BDC agents and now the CBN is fingering commercial banks who don't even have xf and are asking customers to sell thehr fx to them. They can only deceive their blind supporters, those who always seallow their lies hook.line and sinker. |
Bluearrow:Let's give them benefit of the doubt. They've said urgent steps were being taken to return the country to civil rule. They still reiterated it today. Gowon era, up till the 90s were a different ball game. This is 2023 |
chillychill:The military won't even be there for long. They're already orchestrating programmes that would lead to transition into a democratic rule but ecowas seems to be blind to this. I urge Nigerian leaders to caution tinubu so he doesn't lead our country into chaos. If boko haram could invade us and unleash mayem for over a decade yet, we couldn't defeat them, we should thread with caution . It's easy to know the beginning of the war. Its end could be a decade after. |
ppogba:I've never seen any rough drivers like those in lagos. If you drive your car to another state say, oyo or Ogun, you'd be amazed the way tother cars would wait for you on the right of way. Driving here is crazy. You can confirm this |
Bunkbars:Their job is to look for private cars for extortion |
Sadly, most of the drivers in lagos didn't go to any driving school, talk less of owning a licence, either valid or expired. This is unacceptable |
Dawn91:Eyah! Lol |
Dawn91:No worries bro. Success isn't defined by how many As you had in waec. Go and ask Dangote,Otedola, Sabiu Dantata, Adeleke, Elumelu. They'd tell you they weren't best students in their time. I know of one of them who said he combined 2 waec results just to meet the 5 credit passes as a criteria for entry into the university during their time. Just stay focused and trust in God. You can be whatever you aspire to be. |

Just note those Lagos family names again.

He who comes with equity should come with clean hands... How's democracy fairing in all other ECOWAS countries? They should leave dis ppl let dem taste dere military regime if it pays dem let dem continue. I really don't want dis war at all.
