MXrep:What exactly is the point of this thread? Why don't y'all just behave like adults and stop this childish bickering? |
She was invited for questioning or she was arrested? You don't just arrest people like that. |
Lol... if all the ladies on this platform were like this OP, maybe this place would be more fun. ![]() |
It's unbelievable the way everything burns down to tribalism on this platform. |
Wiseandtrue:You defined illiterate as someone who can't read or write. And now your argument is that you don't know if the person you quoted is an illiterate? You read the person's comment and you replied knowing he'd read yours, and yet you don't know if the person can write/read. Lol... smart. |
Lol... Nairaland people. Someone is clearly not an illiterate, you call them an illiterate with the obvious intention of spiting them, and then turn around to ask if it was an insult? |
Does this your title make sense to you? |
What is the essence of this concept called state of origin? What role does it play? Why does Nigeria still have this in 2023? It makes no sense to me. Can someone please explain? |
Aust1n:No, sir. Going by past data, they're mostly people from Libya seeking refugee status. I don't know why Nigerians like to put themselves at the center of every news. Y'all need to go to some other African countries to see the kind of suffering that would make a man take his pregnant wife and kids through the hell of crossing dangerous water bodies in wobbly boats. |
ForG:Thanks sir! |
ForG, without saying the exact place, is it possible to let us know the area where this happened, please? |
optionalY09:Oga, who are "them"? Y'all always like to find some imaginary entities to blame or call out in all situations instead of contributing constructively. Did you build yours with mud? Were you planning on building your future house with mud before you saw this thread? Did your parents build thiers with mud? OP, when you say mud houses, do you mean houses constructed with pure mud or houses constructed with clay/red bricks? If it is pure mud, then the reason cement is preferred is not far-fetched. Cement is definitely stronger. There's a limit to what mud can hold in terms of both structure and weather. They both age in the opposite direction; mud gets weaker while cement gets stronger. Kano and Benin walls are just walls, they don't support much. A good alternative would be to get the best of both worlds by using stucco coated clay/red bricks bound with cement. They're durable and unlike concrete bricks, they don't lose thier aesthetics over time. But then again, that's not necessarily cheaper than concrete bricks. NB: I'm not into construction. I've only been involved in one. |
Hhmm... It's probably not real. Even if it wasn't AI generated, it's just a winter jacket which everyone wears including the Pope himself. Personally, I don't know why anyone would see a winter jacket as being "fly" especially when you consider the fact that people mostly wear them only out of necessity, but as they say, to each thier own. |
TheManPregnant:This is why I say most of you don't know how the society operates. You just say things out of sheer ignorance. Asking people to go vote in thier respective states does not only undermine the sovereignty of the country but also goes against common sense considering the fact that these people don't live and work in thier states of origin. Why would they have a say in the leadership that doesn't directly impact them and then no say in the one that impacts them? How is it a solution to tell people not to have a say in how thier tax is managed when they're not foreigners? Please, y'all should be thinking these things through. Let's not allow tribalism erode our sense of reasoning. |
IyaebeTheGreat:Did the lady complain to you? Did she tell you she's not getting what she wants from the relationship even if it's a temporary one? Or you just assume only one party knows how to play? These people are out there making decisions they consider best for themselves. You don't know the terms of thier relationship, you don't know the stakes, and you certainly don't know what Paul is up to more than the lady herself. So if she's still hanging in there knowing everything you know and more, then your pity is the last thing she needs. |
The car belongs to the state. The plate belongs to state. What exactly was he meant to do? Refuse to enter? |
Samfloxin:That's exactly what it means to be a star. |
Urheadmaster:Hahaha.... he said "hey excuse me. Can I at least change my ties? Man gotta look fresh for the camera, you know". |
johnaruson:I'm not on Facebook but thanks! |
Where I can I get the full interview, please? |
How is that bad? Being an expert in a field is a form of business especially when you know your onions. The truth is, we are all selling something to make money. The so-called boss is selling goods or services. You as an expert, you're selling your skills. As a career driven person, you're the boss of yourself when you attain a level where employers seek you and not the other way round. You can be a director, CEO, etc. in a multinational publicly listed organization without having to start your own business. It doesn't get more "boss" than that. The CEO of KPMG did not start any business of his own, yet he's a boss. He is a shareholder and his share is worth more than many businesses out there. When he retires, he'll still be making money from the organization like a typical business owner. Of course, that is not an easy height to attain just like starting and running a successful business of that size is also not easy. They say being a boss is cool cause you decide when to go to work. But the reality is, business owners work more than most employees who have been in the labour market for the same number of years. They say business owners are richer, and that's true for the most part. If you are a nurse, the owner of the hospital is likely to be richer. If you are a profession salesperson, the owner of the business is likely to be richer. But this is not enough to generalize cause people are in different fields. You starting a purewater business doesn't guarantee you'll be richer than an employed software engineer. The shoe manufacturer in Onitsha isn't necessarily richer than the CBN governor chose career. Let's also not forget the business owner is a risk bearer and your peace of mind counts towards your standard of living. The more people create businesses, the more people need professionals. You're not wrong for choosing to be the professional. Even if you want to be a business owner, you're not obliged to take that decision now. You can pursue your career now and decide later. It's not a waste of time cause you're gaining capital and experience. Businesses run by owners who don't have the necessary professional experience are more likely to stagnate at a particular scale. You're more likely to succeed and have a happier life when do something that appeals to you, not something you do cause others are doing it. The only important thing for everyone is to invest. Whether you're a career driven person who just wants to practice or you're a business owner doesn't really matter. Investing is what secures your future. |
Alearna:Exactly! |
Alearna:The same thing, you don't tell people what to post or what not to post based on your preferences. In most cases, they post these pictures on thier own social media profiles; thier own profiles. In that case anyone seeing that is in thier space (either a follower or someone who searched for it). And you can't tell someone not to put a certain picture of themselves on thier own profile cause you don't like them. That's not logical. Even when you see these pictures on a public platform like Nairaland, the title mostly tells you what you're about to open, and yet you open it just to complain that you're seeing something you cautiously went to see. Let's not forget this internet space belongs to everyone and people won't and shouldn't stop posting things cause you don't like them. You, Alearna, had a diary you consider good enough to post on Nairaland, a public forum. Imagine if someone told you that you should have kept your private stories to yourself cause nobody wanted to read that all because the person saw something in the diary that didn't appeal to them. How would you react? You'd tell them to keep scrolling and leave you alone. So it's not so hard to do that when you come across something that doesn't appeal to you. |
Roon9:And you assume the world would have been a better place if people were abiding by your own definition of what is right or wrong? Imagine if we were all thinking like that. We'll all be at each other's throat all the time. In fact, your inability to understand that my business is my business provided no other party is getting hurt is the reason we have chaos in the world. Trying to get people to follow your lifestyle or ideology is the reason we have Bokoharam, ISIS, etc. Maternity pictures or whatever they call it doesn't hurt anyone. Just like pre-wedding pictures, it's a snapshot of memories for the couple. And while I don't fancy it myself, I'll never go out of my way to tell an excited mother-to-be not take such pictures cause I don't like seeing them. Don't take such pictures yourself, that's all you need to do. |
amigo1088:Why is it so difficult for you people to just be and let other be? Did anyone ask you to take such pics or even like them? Learn to let people do what makes them happy. Your preferences/lifestyle is not a yardstick for measuring anyone. |
Persephone1:Lol... sometimes, chatting with such people is just a way of creating awareness. My target is the wider audience who might not have given a thought to the issue. Sexism, tribalism, racism, etc. are not really very different. They all stem from our inability to accommodate differences. And it's not possible to decry one while accommodating the other because the same logic you use against others will be used against you. I'm not a lady myself. I am a man. I didn't say that cause I don't think our gender, tribe, race, etc. should be a factor when objective submission is the goal. It's just sad that many people on here are too narrow minded to see the negative impact of sexism on everyone including the men. Anyway, I'm done with him. Thanks! |
luminouz:I am the one angry and you're the one cursing and using multiple exclamation marks? Lmao... It's actually better you stop typing cause the more you type, the more you expose your shallowness. If you read my comment, you'd see that I didn't quote the individuals in question. Instead, I shared a general observation that has become a norm on this platform. I don't care about them as individuals, but I do care about the misogyny on this platform. I'm not surprised you'd ask why I do care so much. To you guys, if something isn't affecting your or your herd directly, there's no reason to care. You like the status quo. After all, it's the ladies being abused. None of you ever decries the unnecessary attack on the female gender on this platform, but the moment one person speaks up, you gather like desert vultures to attack the person. And you think you're okay? Just look at the irrelevant things you typed up there. Nobody knows me and what I do; how does that in any way affect the subject of discussion? Nobody knows me, yet you're here telling me how my comments follow the same pattern and how I see enemies everywhere on NL. Isn't that contradictory? This is my first time seeing your username, and I certainly don't care about your comments. Who wants to be friends with primitives like you who don't see the need to speak up when something is going wrong? If anything, I'm happy that people like you have been reading my comments. And from all the exclamation marks and curse words in your comment, I can tell the purpose is achieved. |
luminouz:If you were not as dirty as those guys, you wouldn't have left them to attack the one person speaking up. Of course, she did take it with jokes. What other choice does she have? If she shows any sign of displeasure, y'all would rain on her and remind her how Nigerian girls are only good for sex, and her thread would lose its purpose. Joke is nothing but a coping mechanism. You don't know this because you've never cared to see things from a lady's perspective. So instead of asking me not to see anything wrong with the comments sexualizing the OP, why don't you yourself stop being narrow minded and start seeing things from other people's perspective? You read these comments, you know they're wrong and you know the people that make these wouldn't wouldn't have the courage to make such disgusting comments to her face, yet you want us to accept it as "life". You want it to be the norm because you feel like speaking against it will be speaking against your gender. Is that not a herd mentality? Otherwise, why do you think that between myself and the people that made the comments, I'm the one that needs to be corrected? Do you know the backslash those guys would have received if they were women typing like that? Anyone that points out the glaring gender bias is bitter. You guys are the only sweet ones. Sugar. |
Lol... they want to use this one to destabilize the party. Politics. |
Nairaland... You see men create threads about thier health concerns and bodily insecurities, and we tell them things like "oh, see a doctor", "oh, don't worry you're perfectly OK", "oh, take this natural supplement", "oh, hit the gym", "oh, size doesn't matter", etc. And then a lady creates a thread on a similar subject and the first set of comments are already going dirty on her. This is not just about this thread. Ladies can't just create threads on this platform on personal issues like family, health, relationship, etc. without the usual backslash or unnecessary sexualization. Today, Nairaland is now 90% men, 5% women who hide thier gender and then 5% women who still have the courage to identify as females. And this makes me wonder, are y'all moving backwards in Nigeria or what? Doesn't this remind you of those days when women had to register thier works using masculine names just to appeal to the misogynistic public? This is a clear indication that Nigerian parents have failed the boy child. They focus so much on raising good girls that the boys are neglected. |
IyaebeTheGreat:Yes, I totally agree. And Nigerians are very normal people, very very normal. |
