A pig kidney has been transplanted into a human being for the first time ever, without triggering immediate rejection by the recipient's immune system, according to Reuters.

This is a potentially major advance that could eventually helpalleviate a dire shortage of human
organs for transplant.

The procedure done at NYU Langone Health in New York City involved use of a pig whose genes had been altered so that its tissues no longer contained a molecule known to trigger almost immediate rejection.

The recipient was a brain-dead patient with signs of kidney dysfunction whose family consented to the experiment before she was due to be taken off of life support, researchers told Reuters.

For three days, the new kidney was attached to her blood vessels and maintained outside her body, giving researchers access to it.

Terrorists from the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah
wa'l-Jihād on Sunday attacked the Army Special Super Camp at Ngamdu, a border town between
Borno and Yobe States, killing over 6 soldiers, military sources told SaharaReporters.

Ngamdu is under Kaga Local Government Area of Borno and about 100km to the capital, Maiduguri.

SaharaReporters gathered that the
terrorists came in no fewer than 10 gun trucks and could not be counted.

A source said about six Nigerian soldiers were killed, while others including the Brigadier General in-charge of the camp, were injured.

The insurgents also went away with a military operational vehicle, different arms and ammunition.

“They stormed the unit withabout 10 gun- trucks and 4 MRAP. They beat the security checks and pretended to be friendly forces.

They first attacked the Brigade Commander, wounded his ADC also. They later killed like six soldiers,” a source said.

The attack comes a few weeks after the insurgents killed over 25 soldiers who were also on patrol in Monguno area of Borno state.

Monguno is North, about 70km drive from Maiduguri, the state capital and hosted thousands of Internally Displaced Persons
mostly from Dikwa and Marte council areas.

“At least 25 soldiers have been confirmed dead, the authorities have contacted some of their families, their bodies are already
deposited at the morgue,” a source had told SaharaReporters.

Boko Haram and its offshoot, Islamic State West Africa Province, have killed thousands and displaced millions in North-Eastern Nigeria.

The Nigerian military has repeatedly claimed that the insurgency had been largely
defeated and frequently underplays any losses.

In the past months, soldiers have been targeted by the insurgents.

Over 500 soldiers and officers have been reportedly killed since January 2021.

At least 33 soldiers were killed early in the year when two vehicles loaded with explosives rammed into a military convoy in
Wulgo.

The suicide bombers were identified as Abu Bakr al-Siddiq and Bana Jundullah. The group also claimed four military vehicles
were destroyed.

In February, about 20 soldiers were also killed in Malari, Borno State by the insurgents.

SaharaReporters gathered that the soldiers were on patrol to clear some Boko Haram elements in the area following a credible
intelligence when they were ambushed by the group.

There was palpable tension as a man who allegedly poisoned his friend's drink at an eatery was forced t take the drink.

In a video shared online, the man accused of poisoning the drink is seen sitting weakly on the floor as other men surround him.

Some of the men are seen hitting him as they accuse him of poisoning his friend's drink when the friend went to pee.

Soon, he begins vomiting but this doesn't stop the men from continuing with the beating.

Someone claiming to be an eyewitness said he saw the man remove something from his pocket, open it, and put some of it into his friend's drink before covering the drink back like nothing happened.

It took the intervention of mall security to stop the
men from further attacking the man who was already
too weak and was rolling on the floor.

Bandits are now reportedly demanding for cooked food as ransom following some measures instituted by state governments to fight insecuirty in their states.

A youth leader in one of the villages in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna state, Babangida Yaro, told Daily Trust that since the ban on weekly markets as part of measures to tackle insecurity, bandits operating along Damari, Kutemashi and Kuyello villages only asked for cooked food each time they abduct people.

Revealing that the ban on sale of fuel in filling stations located in rural communities had also helped to restrict movement, the youth leader further disclosed that when the bandits abduct two or three persons in farms, one is allowed to go and get them food from their relatives as ransom since there is no communication network to make contact.

He said;

“There is relative peace around Damari, kuyello, Kutemashi because the bandits have stopped attacking our communities. They usually stay in the forest and seiz food items mostly cooked ones from vendors."

Yaro also told the publication that Dogon Dawa area is still not completely safe because villagers are still scared of accessing their farmlands. He lamented that the ban on use of private motorcycles in villages has increased hardship on residents.

A photo of Abubakar Dan-Buduma, the dreaded commandant of the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād in Borno State, has been released.

SaharaReporters had in July 2021 reported that Dan-Buduma was appointed Operational Commander, Timbuktu Triangle by the group’s Interim Council during an emergency meeting which was attended by Wali (Leaders), Qa’ids (Chiefs), Commanders and all other structures of both ISWAP and Boko Haram.

He is said to have killed so many Nigerian soldiers and civilians during different attacks by the terrorist group.

Unconfirmed report has it that Dan-Buduma was recently arrested by the Nigerian Army in Sambisa forest, Borno State.
ISWAP, which split from the mainstream Boko Haram in 2016, has become a dominant group, focusing on military targets and high-profile attacks, including against aid workers.

With the death of Abubakar Shekau and the realignment of various factions, an interim committee headed by one Abbah Gana aka Ba-Lawan was appointed to lead the ISIS Islamic Caliphate of Africa (Wilaya of Africa), covering parts of Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Cameroon.

The Nigerian Army has repeatedly claimed that the insurgency had been largely defeated and frequently underplays any losses.

The terror group has caused over 50,000 deaths and displaced millions of individuals mainly in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states.

Dr. Chike Akunyili.

Dr Akunyili, the widower of late NAFDAC DG Dora Akunyili,
was shot dead at Nkpor, Anambra State, on Tuesday,
September 28.

Following his death, Facebook users dug out an old
comment made by a certain Blossom Benjamin, threatening

President Muhammadu Buhari has been told to declare bandits as terrorists.

The call was made by the Senate on Wednesday.

This comes after bandits have for months ravaged the north, destroying lives and properties.

The Upper Chamber also called on the President todeclare known leaders of bandits in the country wanted and track them wherever they are for arrest and prosecution.

It also urged the President to direct the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to urgently support all victims of banditry in Sokoto and other parts of the country.

These resolutions of the Senate followed its consideration of a motion titled: “Banditry in Sokoto State particularly Sokoto East Senatorial District” sponsored by Senator Ibrahim Gobir.

Martins Odunayo, a Nigerian who is currently based
in China, has made a startling claim.

The man has cried out for help, saying he started
hearing strange voices courtesy of a brain chip
inserted in his brain at a hospital.

According to a narration sent to SaharaReporters by
Odunayo's friend, the middle-aged man was involved
in an accident in 2020 in China and sustained an
injury on his forehead.

Odunayo said he had visited the hospital to get a
stitch but the doctors allegedly implanted the Brain
Talker Chip into his body, unknown to him.

He said five days after he got the stitches done, he
started hearing some voices whose source he could
not immediately ascertain.

After a while, he said he was able to recognise and
the person at the other end asked him to travel back
to Nigeria to meet with a Chinese man who he would
travel with to the United States for a mission.

The Nigerian said he had to run to a police station in
China to make a report but he was simply arrested.

He alleged that the police had stopped all efforts to
reach the Nigerian consulate at Guangzhou.

He immediately called for the help of the Nigerian
government to help him so he would not be used for
terrorist activities against his will.

However, as of the time of filing this report,
Odunayo's friend told SaharaReporters that the young
man had since been offline after dropping an SOS
message for him.

Odunayo wrote, “Hello, they have come here now,
they said they're taking me to the hospital and that I
must follow them though I don't want to. City:
Liuzhou, province: Guangxi; country: China.”

Odunayo had narrated: “My name is Martins Odunayo,
I am from Ondo city in Ondo State, please, I am in
danger here in China.

“Everything started last year when I had an accident
and I had a cut on my forehead so I went to the
hospital to get a stitch, unknown that a chip has been
implanted in my body. Five days after I got the
stitches done, I started hearing some voices but I did
not know where the voice was coming from because
at first I couldn’t recognise the voice.

”So I was confused and I told my friend about it and
he said he did not know about anything like that.

That was last year August till November when I
started hearing a voice that I recognised so well’ then
the guy came out straight to me that they wanted me
to do something for them.

“So I told my boss about it and he said I should
ignore them. Until this year February when the guy
told me that he wants me to go to Nigeria to meet up
with a Chinese guy who will help me make
arrangements for an American visa that I should go
with him to the United States for a mission.

”At that point, I became very scared and worried. I
didn’t know what to do because he was threatening
me with different things and I couldn’t figure out
where the voice is coming from.

“So I decided to go to my friend’s apartment to
sleepover that night, that was on 8th of February, the
next morning the guy started with the threat again
that he is coming to my friend’s place to meet me.

“I was scared and I ran to the police station to make
a report. But to my surprise immediately I told the
police, they stopped asking me questions and they
went away and came back after 15 minutes and said
they had to make a phone call.

“After a while, some policemen came and took me to
another station where I spent the night without any
interrogation neither did they attend to my complaint,
they took me straight to prison where I couldn’t
contact anyone for a month.

“By March I was able to contact a friend and they
helped me contact the Nigeria consulate in
Guangzhou city and they told my friend that the
police had contacted them.

“The chip guys kept threatening me with my family
and my friends so I made up my mind to call the
America embassy to tell them about it just in case
those guys started using my identity, but immediately
the prison official got to know about the phone call,
they suspended me from making any phone call.
“They then told me they were working on my
deportation even with the chip implanted in me. I
couldn’t contact anyone since then until July 25th
when they took me to the airport.”

“After I boarded the plane, the guy from the chip kept
telling me to cool down that I would meet up with the
guy in Lagos but I was so scared. So I immediately
got out of the plane and requested the airport
officials to allow me to talk to my embassy.

“But it was already around 6:30 pm, the following
morning which is 26th of July the policemen came
and I told them I need to talk to my embassy and
they said no.

“So they drove me back to my city and then said I
have to be isolated for 28 days the next morning I
called Nigeria consulate and I explained everything to
them and they were so surprised because the police
didn’t tell them anything, the police lied to them just
to get me out of China with the chip implanted in me.

“Ever since then, I have been communicating with the
Nigeria consulate officials until last week which they
were supposed to come here to see me but then the
police lied to them again that they had moved me out
of here to the hospital just to disorganise their plan of
coming over.

“Now the guys communicating with me via the chip
are saying they are going to kill me if I insist on not
going to Nigeria or try to expose this issue. The
Liuzhou city police are also doing everything to cover
this up, I have tried to contact the Federal Bureau of
Investigation but I haven’t got any reply from them
yet.

“Please, I am dying slowly and my life is in deep
danger I want to come home but please, I cannot
come with this chip in me.

“You can check on Google. The name of the chip is
called Brain Talker Chip. It’s being manufactured here
in China. Please, I need your help; I don’t want to be
used for any terrorist activity.”
