Who noticed that the DS160 now ask you to state your departure date from the US?
Sign that a lot is going on in the background.

She's mad.
What has sars got to do with tourism? What would she say about BH, herdsmen and all?
To even think she was talking about government and not SARS.
Attention seeker
She is not seeking attention; she is speaking up for you and your unborn children, and if you are a mother, your children!!!
You see, Nigerian government is not trying at all. We need to restructure and put an end to this experiment, because it is not working!
SARS has to do with tourism because the news of people killed by SARS in abroad is not encouraging.
For Boko Haram, herdsmen, etc, we have them because we have failed government and a national structure that is not thriving!
You should learn to reason before you write on social media.

We told them to stop the unnecessary protest...
It is necessary! Your father said the same thing and now, look at you? You cannot comfortably live the life of your dream. Will you let your children suffer the same fate you're suffering now. Nigeria needs to be restructured, and this is what this agitation and protest is systematically demanding.
Are you this stupid? If you are an educated youth, you should know better!

I was also shown a dream in 2013 pointing to 2021 as when Nigeria as a Nation will be shaken and might even break to pieces.
So, this protest is a precursor to something bigger.

My thoughts exactly. I've been denied access to my means of livelihood for about a week now by the road blockades. It is their rights to protest. It is also my right to have access to a public road. It is an infringement on my rights to be denied road access. Protesters should converge on one side, while others who wish to go about their lawful duties can go about their activities.

Thought like this is the problem. What those on the street is demanding for, will help you, your children, and their children.
Those who cannot sacrifice for a better future today, will not have a better future tomorrow. Many of those on the street left their work too.
You are not the only person affected. People are trying to change a bad country, you are here talking about food.
It is a pity that your selfishness has consumed you. I hope you don't benefit from the country when it is finally changed for the better.

Good day my people. Please oo, I'm here again with a question. We're about to get a bank statement and our branch is in a somewhat rural location where the staff can easily make format mistakes. Is there supposed to be a covering note attached and addressed to the Consular section before the statement starts running? The staff here said they can just print and stamp the bank statement at the branch and that's all. We're using First Bank. Thanks in advance because I know I'll get an answer soon.

There's no need for cover letter from the bank. Just tell the bank to print a 6 months statement for your sponsor on a clearn sheet and thoroughly stamped. Some banks log the request for statement for embassy in their system in case the embassy contact the bank. I am sure the bank official knows what to do once you request for a statement for visa interview.

Your attitude is very annoying. You may be academically sound, but you need to learn to be understanding and listen to those who knows better than you. Most of the people who have been on this thread for a long time, contributing, advising, giving listening ears and even supporting strangers financially, are not your mates. Lagosismyhome is trying to correct and educate you, yet, you remain defensive.
This manner will likely make more people ignore you. Classroom education should not be subtituted for manner. Learn and move on!

The general mentality is that the person will come and take the portion of his own assistantship or funding.

It’s just like some dude here who went to US to study with borrowed money and refused to come back then got married either hook or crook to be able to stay grounded there but they are now preaching for some folks with different advice not to leave naija and study abroad instead of telling them how to do the right thing that will work out for them. They even go extra miles to condemn people with good intention plans, I wonder if the plan ain’t friendly why haven’t dey return grin grin grin

Hi Evans... Congratulations. Please I have a question. I have just been offered Graduate assistantship at LSU however the program director it worried that I might not be able to meet up with the program by January, he has said he will give me a letter stating the offer, now my question is must the assistantship reflect on my I-20 or I can send a statement to request I-20 and then present the assistantship award letter at the embassy.? Did your own I-20 state your assistantship ?
Thank you

Assistantship on the i-20 is enough. Rarely has the US embassy entertained documents that is trying to influence their appraisal of the applicant, except where requested by them. Have all your documents intact, but prepare for your interview.

Make sure the assistantship is documented on your i-20. If you are offered asstantshi, tell your school to share a softcopy of the i-20 (in case hardcopy is to be sent to you for your interview). Once you get the i-20, pay visa fee, sevis fee, and then request for appointment from Lagos consulate through email. Let us hope abuja embassy will open in November.

All the best!

I have a good school and a couple of people there. Visa approval is quite high for the school (Still depends on an individual's circumstances anyways)

And yes, I'm a student in Ukraine currently (But only studying the language course,it's for a year)

Age 24 and Self sponsorship with 2x of the Tuition fees (No funding from school)
What you suggest?

Looking your profile and considering trend of approvals and refusals at the embassies in Nigeria, at least for more than 2 years now, you don't stand a chance.
1, Your age is weigh too up for undergraduate, except you're a transfer student (meaning you're into a program in Ukraine and going to the US to complete it). I normally suggest that if you are above 22 years old, undergraduate visa approval is not safe. 23 may fly with funding on the i-20, but 24...the chance is very, very slim.

2, You said you're self-sponsoring this. Okay, let us say for example, the TCA is $25, 000, and you have $50, 000 in your account (since he said X2), what happens when you're out of fund is that you will become a public burden and probably drop out of status. This is how the consular at the embassy look at self-funding for applicants as young as you are. Now, I am asking you: where will you get money to continue in studies when your current fund is expended? I know you want to say you'll manage and survive and hustle, but looking at it from a consular point of view, it doesn't work that way. These people simply won't see it that way for you.

3, You don't have scholarship. My dear, my 1 cent advise for you is that, finish your undergraduate degree in Ukraine, and while you are doing that, plan for your Masters in the US. In my opinion, coming to Nigeria to reapply for the f1 is a pipe dream. Don't waste more money. Chances that you'll be refused is very, very high, but as Lagosismyhome advised, you choose what you want.

US Visa Approved!!!

Sent a strongly worded email with convincing points for an emergency visa appointment on Tuesday Night - 6th.

Received an email from the US embassy at 7.30am the next day - Wednesday, scheduling me for an interview on Friday at 6.30am.

Today, Woke up at 5.00am, joined hands with my sister to decree divine Favour.

Bath, dressed and booked an Uber, got to VI at 6.20am.

Went in for my interview at 7.00am

Sent back out because I did not print my DS-160 confirmation.

Rain flogged me, some soldier men even gave me umbrella my who cloth was wet.

A lady helped me to print the DS - 160 form, said I should pay her 5K, I didn’t have any money on me. Begged the lady and eventually paid 3500 outta my reciprocity fee.

Went back into the embassy.

VO: Good morning
Me: Hi, Goodmorning

VO: Pass me ur I-20 and visa and da-160 form

VO: where are u going
Me: Going to ...Ivy league school

VO: Great school, but very expensive too, how are u funding it?
Me: Received 80,000 USD in Fin Aid and taking a loan of 20K from my uncle to complete the rest.

VO: Ok, what does ur uncle do?
Me: My Uncle is a real estate developer and deals in wichtech roofing sheets.

VO: Any evidence of ur uncles ability to pay?
Me: before I could Pass him my uncles statement, he said I shouldn’t bother, he believes me.

VO: Have u travelled out before?
Me: Yes, I have been to the US, Germany France, Qatar, Kenya, Uganda...etc

VO: What did u go for?
Me: Explains

VO: Your visa has been approved, do u have the reciprocity fee?
I knew my reciprocity fee was short by 3500 but I answered yes, I did not want wahala.

VO: Go over there and pay, and enjoy ur stay in America
3500 to print just a paper. Na pandemic fee the lady collect from you grin grin grin
Congrats.

Guys good day. I greet you all. I had my F1 Visa interview (Bachelor's degree) this morning in a foreign country and with legal status but I was denied, the official refusal letter aims at they fact that I didn't provide strong ties to my home country which isn't really true because I made it known to them that I had businesses in Nigeria and that I even had some supporting documents with me. The consular, at the of the interview claimed and advised that I should have interview in "ABUJA or LAGOS" as it's the best for me. If I plan on reapplying in Nigeria, I'm afraid i'd be given a later date and might not meet up with my resumption, my school resumes Jan24th. What do you guys think about this? Please let me know your views and this. Thank you!

I said this about 2 months ago on this thread...it is better you apply from your home country. Those who knows better said I was wrong!
Fly to Nigeria and try again! The US embassy in Lagos will grant you an appointment. But it is risky. Which country are you right now? If you are given closer date, will you be able to fly home to appear?
