BoldBrainz:Gen Abacha had the seasoned Anthony Ani as Minister of Finance and still fleeced Nigeria. Look, appointing a seasoned economist as figure head Prime Minister doesn't stop Junta from looting. The appointment is PR. Nobody argues with a man holding an AK47. Soldiers are not trained to govern any country. They are trained to kill enemies of the country. They give orders and orders are obeyed strictly in line with some rigid hierarchical structure. |
This sanction stuff looks like a script written by France and US. But at least it saves ECOWAS face and defuses tension in Niger. Interesting to see how long the Junta will keep up with this cat and mouse play before settling down for actual governance because as it is currently, the country is standstill. The current situation doesn't help Niger's economy. |
1. Sacking France and bringing in Russia is like changing a benevolent slave master for a ruthless non-caring one. Russians are NOT known to assist other nations economically including even the former member countries of USSR. 2. Bringing ruthless Russian Wagner fighters gurantees the following: - Riding the back of a tiger, - Extended military rule with creation of corrupt dictators, - Wanton exploitation of natural mineral with little revenue going to country coffers, - Recruitment and arming of young men with prospect of proliferation of militias in future Francophone African countries will look back at this period in future and say NEVER AGAIN! |
Turning back ECOWAS is understandable. Rejecting AU overture can be forgive given the status of Nigeria. But rejecting UN intervention is absolute naivety. The Junta is gradually walking into a trap from which Putin can not save them. They are turning Niger into a pariah. From recent history, the irony of this coup and the passion of ordinary Nigeriens is that the soldiers who took over from the politicians often end up as bad as the politicians. It is like Orwellian "Animal Farm". The facts are: 1. Coupists don't have any economic roadmap to follow just like the visionless politicians they removed. Their policies and programs are based on the whims and caprices of the junta leaders and they are not accountable to any one. 2. Having taken great risk to over throw a legitimate government, they will corruptly enrich themselves, their families and associates as compensation. Subsequently, they would become power-drunk dictators. Eventually, Niger and these other anglophone countries will be back to square one. And the situation might even become worst by swapping France for Russian ruthless Wagner fighters as they will continue the exploitation of minerals and will recruit many young people and arm them with the prospect of many of them breaking away and forming militias. The key question is, what has happened in Mali and Guinea since the Col. Assimi Goita and Col. Mamady Doumbouya took over in those countries respectively? The one in Burkina Faso just goes around in trendy military gears surrounded by armed guards, posing like a superman. |
Military coups and military government are aberrations. It usually start with the people rejoicing at the prospect of a messianic leadership and end up with a dictatorial leadership that suppresses the people into silence by power of gun and the stump of jackboot. The eternal fact is that coup is a risky venture in which successful participants compensate themselves bountifully. This will play out in all Francophone countries with military junta in charge. It is matter of time. |
Ask him who voted for as president first. I want to check something. ![]() |
President Tinubu throwing his weight around. Congratulations Festus Keyamo! No need to say go and sin no more because I know you will still say or do another one. ![]() |
Omalicha! |
As at now , the issue between ECOWAS and Niger is a Mexican standoff situation. I think President Tinubu was a bit too hasty and naive in leading ECOWAS to give deadlines in order to impress the West and particularly his personal friend and 'landlord' in France. Now, he has to manage the embarrassment of not carrying out the threat. ECOWAS should buy time and save face by stylishly tell AU to come in beg them to stay action until AU talks to the Junta in Niger. ![]() Personally, I believe the ship has sailed and ECOWAS' workable option now is to pressure the junta to draw up timetable to return Niger to democracy within shortest possible time. |
gentlemate00:He carries a gun around. Only a fool questions a man who has a gun. ![]() |
gentlemate00:Why should his business be in Ghana and not in Niger Delta to create jobs? |
Safety first! |
Festus Keyamo will be like which kain wahala be this after surviving being initially overlooked and doing praise worship? ![]() |
Jackson Udeh's bread and butter is making wild and weighty allegations against other people. He wakes up and posts whatever comes to his minds on Social Media and then watch the people he mentioned sweat to clear themselves. He seems to enjoy it. But one day the Cyber laws will catch up with him. |
So sad to lose in this way. Working hard all day and then lost it to poor penalties. I still doubt whether Super Falcons prepared for penalty and drew up list of takers according strengths before this match. We had this match when England lost their first penalty but the managers order of penalty takers killed it. Still super proud of Super Falcons. Made the European champion English Lionesses look ordinary. Made Nigeria and Africa proud. Now, time to go for African Women Cup of Nations as the least compensation while preparing for next World Cup. NFF should swallow its pride and retain the manager to continue moulding the team rather bring in another new hands. |
Righteousness2:I am sure if you were following Jesus when he walked the earth, you would have been among those Pharisees who cringed at - Jesus intervening to save the adulteress that was about to be executed - Jesus interaction with a woman with loose virtues alone who came draw water from well before his apostles arrived - Jesus visit to Zacchaeus and other tax collectors - Jesus allowing a woman to anoint his feet with expensive nard The Pope is saying that no matter how you feel about yourself, come to Jesus for resolution and most importantly to hear his word for a 'visa' to the heavenly kingdom where he will rule forever. He is saying that nobody should adjudge themselves as unworthy but should just come with their mental, physiological, physical, social and even financial burdens in addition to a sincere heart and allow God to be God. |
Tompolo and his boys doing the Lord's work and making Asari Dokubo have high BP. ![]() The worrying thing is that if (1) Tompolo tells his boys to back down on the suspicious vessel and (2) if the Chief of Naval Staff had cleared that vessel on telephone, it would have been left to sail. So, the system is still not transparent and it is very much subject to abuse. Therefore, there should be an online real time system whereby the name, description and particulars of any vessel that has crude oil on board with official clearance should be uploaded and can be viewed by any one. So, any vessel that is not on list as having been loaded and officially clearly by all authorities concerned should automatically arrested by either the Navy, the private security company or even DSS if its has intel of its movement. |
War is usually the last option. Looking obvious that President Tinubu was a bit too hasty in creating war impression before even sending Gen Abdusalam led delegation to Niger. Interestingly, Northern political leaders are against military adventure as Northern states will receive the brunt. So, Tinubu should slow down and apply diplomatic pressure. |
If I don't worship the Almighty God who made the heavens and earth, I will rather become an agnostic rather than worship some gods and goddesses that inhabit filthy shrines or some elemental spirit beings that live in body of water, trees, stones, anthills, etc with burden of never-ending bloody sacrifice imposed on worshippers. |
Jaw jaw before war war. |

Deji Adeyanju took Asari Dokubo to the cleaners. He stood up to the rotund loudmouth and cut him to size. I have a feeling that Asari Dokubo may have frittered away the handsome fortune he made from Nigerian government's amnesty program fund as NOISIEST militant of the Niger Delta several years ago. Now, he is desperately a*se-licking President Tinubu for a second opportunity. Meanwhile, Tompolo dey one corner dey lookam with one kin eyes. |
Not a big deal. Even here in Nigeria, protest contractors can gather impressive crowd with well-designed placards at very short notice. The fact here is that a coup has taken place and has set in motion some irreversible actions. Therefore, the only issue to be negotiated is drawing up of a timetable to return Niger to democratic rule as soon as possible. That's where President Tinubu's choice of Gen. Abdusalam as leader of delegation is excellent. He has worked this same road and successfully handed over to a democratically elected government. |
Military operations is always the last option. |
Deliverables with f*cking timelines. That's it. Sounding more like it, Mr. President. |
Dear President Tinubu, you are becoming more of baba-go-slow Buhari than the Jagaban we know. Hitting the ground running should go beyond taxation and removal subsidy. Start active governance. Fix the economy. Improve security. Pay attention to crop, animal and fishery production. Improve power supply. Encourage entrepreneurship and create more incentives for SMEs. Create environment and incentives for investor-industrialists to thrive. Standardize vocational training, certification and practice to run side by side with formal education, etc etc. Roll out your economic roadmap. It is about time, meeeen! |
This is a message to those in government. Message to President Tinubu. NLC strike may engender more of this kind of looting. Commence actions to counter the inflationary effect of your policies. Roll out your economic roadmap and commence implementation. Hit the ground. Run like a man being pursued by a mob. Time is of essence. |
Stop this register of the poor scam. It exudes of poverty of ideas for a nation with millions of super-intelligent people |
I laugh when some people tag Peter Obi's conscious and smart sowing of PR seed as sign of weakness. He knows what he is doing. Look, Peter Obi is more ruthless, more rigid and tougher than Soludo. He is a harder nut to crack. With Soludo, what you see is what you get but with Peter Obi what you see is often not what you get. There is always more hidden in the simple lifestyle he displays. |
Persecution based profiling such as this one is one reason I will always speak against state police in Nigeria. |
