I don't know why we are different from the rest of the world |
Not a single penny has been traced to the man. Is it that he didn't loot like past head of states? Abacha's loot has been coming back to Nigeria since his death Rest in peace Yar Ardua. You didn't loot like a typical Nigerian leader. |
Trust me, very soon the federal government will lift this ban on inter state movement. Once the northern politicians starts complaining of the "harassment" of northerners by southerners, the FG will lift the ban to allow them move. I was shocked when I closed work late in lekki phase one around 10:15 and saw a truck offloading people and bike. I wondered how they passed the check points and estate gates. |
I always advise employees, if you have a good boss, stick with the company even if the company is toxic. Your good boss will always fight for you. If you are in a good company but with a bad boss, you will regret your career. Employees don't leave companies. They leave bad bosses. I will pick good boss, bad company above bad boss, good company. Your boss has a great role to play in your career progression. Your current boss must have donated you for exit on the basis of LIFO - last in first out. |
Another avenue for extortion - typical Nigerian government. permit this, permit that To obtain that permit now, you will asked to cough out 100k minimum |

TooMuchStuff:Mehn, I couldn't stop laughing on reading this - please send this analysis to NBS as a response to their publication. Your analysis vividly captured the current poverty distribution in Nigeria but our leaders and politicians will continue to live in self denial about the enormity of poverty in this country. |
FG will soon start wasting scares resources on the containment because of the ignorance of the people the same we are wasting scarce resources fighting Boko Haram because some people felt that Boko Haram should be allowed to exist. |
Litmus:We are not sustainable in this part of the world. A simple sustainability way of doing things like aggressive tree planting would have stopped all these erosion instead of awarding all these corruption - infested contracts. We don't know how to engage international development partners like UNDP, UNEP to tackle environmental challenges at a minimal cost. We like to award big ticket contracts to compnies. The erosion will still come back. Indonesia and some other south east Asian countries have the same erosion menace but are using sustainable mechanism to curtail them. |
helinues:My brother, I have been saying this but our businessmen and government are not creative. The sand surface of the south east is one of the best in manufacturing the kiln fired red bricks for building. Go to USA and South Africa and see brick industries producing bricks from red soil. Some south African companies imports red mud soil from Lesotho and Zimbabwe. Why not set up a brick industries that will use kiln furnace to produce high quality bricks for building. We spend millions of dollars importing bricks from south Africa for exterior rendering in buildings in Nigeria when we have the main natural resources - the red mud soil. I bought each pack of red south African brick for 6,500 to use for my exterior covering. I would have loved to cover the whole building with red bricks but the cost is just too high. I love brick feel of buildings. It brings out long lasting aesthetics than the paintings we usually do here. Check out Stanford University in US, red brick houses every where. Nigeria's red soil doesn't need colour addition to bring out the redness as the soil itself is earth red rich already. If I have money, investing in high quality red bricks production would be my target. |
Black man and wickedness. That's why most times I don't blame the whites for racism towards us. They devalue the black man when they see these kind of images. |
There won't be any international competition for the next two years because of Corona. That's what some people in FIFA are thinking. It will take almost two years to bring back confidence in the sporting world. So, Rohr will be doing nothing for the next two years |
An average Nigerian lives in an unimaginable poverty. The picture shows a congested one room apartment for a five family members. Generator fumes or food poisoning must have resulted to this. Our standard of living is terribly low in this country and our leaders will be doing as if all is well. Living in an unimaginable affluence. Rest in peace lovely family. |
That's why most western countries usually object to appointing people from Africa and developing world into sensitive UN positions. They are not usually strong and could easily be manipulated for lack of confidence and sometimes low self esteem. I feel pity for the man. He must have been arm twisted by China. For one, he failed to call the virus "Wuhan Virus" against known previous ways of coding virus names. Spanish flu - Spain Ebola Virus - Ebola in Congo Lassa Fever - Lassa town in Borno State Korean swine flu - South Korea Newcastle cow disease - Newcastle in England Even Siamese twins came from a town named siamese in South East Asia. Tsunami is also a town Indonesia. |
I am using this lock down to retool and up scale my skills. I have watched a lot of videos in youtube in areas I want to develop competence. Honestly, youtube is a full fledged University. Learnt advanced use of SPSS and Info graphics tools and am I now a pro, using SPSS to analyse a lot of data. |
I love historical sites and monuments. That's why I took at time to visit historical sites in UK why I was doing my masters. I visited both Cambridge and Oxford universities to see the labs of those famous scientists that I read about in my secondary school advance physics like Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Rutherford and co. Visited a lot of ancient buildings in Scotland. We should cultivate the habit of preserving buildings and not destroying to elect new ones. My university in UK is more than 200 years and some of the buildings were the stone and brick buildings still standing up till now. Go to UNN, Ife and co and see dilapidated buildings built in 1960 without adequate maintenance. We lack maintenance culture in Nigeria. |
Stupid youths! Fighting and insulting one another over incompetent leaders that have impoverished them over the years. |
This is not good. I feel the hunger in people but we should observe all the social distancing measures. Second wave of spread won't be funny. Onitsha and Aba are simply too congested to allow any social distancing. God should save Africa as our society and systems can't cope with lock down |
That place be like Python and Puff Arda habitat. Typical snake environment Let his one eye be open as he prays as those two snakes are dangerous and dem no send you. Na to sink their fangs on you. |
somez:So, indirectly, you are accepting that Nigeria is a Zoo. You should have ignored the guy than lending credence to his assertion. |
Poverty distorts human thinking and good judgement. I blame the government for making poverty as the centre peace of their policy. Nigerians are very poor and could do anything to have a decent meal. This corona has exposed the wide divide between us and the developed world. You will weep when you see the type of abject poverty ravaging people in the remote villages in the North, South, East and West. |
That was my maternal cousin in 2019. We went to the same prestigious but very expensive catholic school where his father struggled to train him there. The family wasn't doing well but the father was bent on training his children with little assistance from my father and my mother. We finished university and search for a decent employment was a struggle for him. Sadly, his father died without seeing the fruits of his labour as all his children he laboured to train were all struggling to find their feet. Later, my cousin got a job in an engineering construction company and within 4 years rose through the ranks as the owner of the construction firm placed so much trust in him. Later, he was able to complete a beautiful mansion in the village and bought the latest toyota spider, thanks also to the generosity of the owner of the company where he worked. Two months after his house opening and dedication, he developed a strange illness that nobody could fathom. When I called him over the phone while on his sick bed, he told me, " naa, this people almost killed me, but thank God, I am making a recovery. Let's hook up when I come to Lag as I would be in Lagos to meet some turkish contractors on behalf my oga". That was the last discussion and in the evening of that same day, my sister called me to tell me that Noble is dead. I almost passed out. Just like that and all the dreams vanished. May God rest his soul. |
My wife's libido is high. Before the lock down, my work do take me outside Lagos for weeks. But this lock down, the woman is enjoying me bad! I am to give it to her the way she wants it. It has been good just that I have been dragging her to come so that I teach her certain things and get her ready for future job after the lock down. But she hasn't shown interest which sometimes get to my nerve. I don't know if she is just ok with de small monthly allowance I give her. |
wura2u:It is in Lagos. Tenant gave my uncle trouble before he was introduced to the lawyer. The lawyer signs agreement with you and pay the annual amount as agreed. The lawyer recharges that back to the tenants with his mark up and he also has the right to increase rent on your property without your objection as long as he has paid you what two of you agreed. Part of the agreement is also that my uncle should not interfere any time the lawyer wanted to eject any tenant or bring in new ones. He is fully in charge. The contract is reviewed after every four years. My uncle is happy about the management of his property so far. |
Those insulting the guy are not Landlords. When you build a house, you will understand the sacrifices required to put up a house. I passed through it and I know. Every hard work deserves a wage. The tenant could have put it in a subtle way rather than being aggressive in responding to a rightful demand for rent. That's why I like to use heartless and no nonsense lawyers as agents/caretakers. My uncle's house is managed by one Ogbomosho lawyer with heavy Yoruba tribal marks. Every year, he pays my uncle the whole rent money as agreed with him and the lawyer then goes after the tenants to collect back the money with 15% mark up margin. Since then, my uncle dey enjoy him money without any tenant wahalla. The lawyer has taken over the wahala and those tenant traders that were tough and stubborn don humble once Baba lawyer talk. |
Another citizen failed by her country's institution and infrastructure. There is so much gap between developed and undeveloped world. Sometimes I don't blame those jetting out to canada, UK and Australia to settle. They want a safe and secure future for themselves and their children especially. |
Nigeria's idiotic youths. Always fighting and insulting themselves over irrelevant matters while their leaders loot them dry. See them up there chest beating and insulting one another over palliative materials. |
The way Nigerians will apply for the canada PR after this lock down ehh. The Corona has exposed the wide gap between developed and developing nation. I had maintained that I wouldn't be leaving this country but my wife has started putting pressure for us to enrolle in the Canada federal skill immigration and leave. Sometimes, the behaviour of our leaders makes some of us that still wants to stay here in Nigeria to look insane. |
So sad. If not the lock down, he would have been taken abroad. There was so much delay between applying for a special airlift permit and approval both from the Nigerian authorities and German government as all flights operations have been cancelled. Rest in peace man. Your health challenges came at the wrong time. |
My people, build your networking skills. Develop capabilities and skills on things that could independently fetch you money. 2020 is going to be a tough year. It will be hard to see companies that are willing to recruit officially. Build contacts with those that are working in case of any opportunity in their organization. The way you design or embellish your cv is becoming irrelevant. |
Igwe, anyi ekene! |
He shouldn't withdraw American citizenship from children born to foreign non resident parents. I spent so much to get my kids born in US. Though all of them are here with me in Nigeria. |
