Living in Onitsha as it is now is a stress itself. The multi-storey buildings are so jam packed that you could be in one building and stretch out your hand to collect something from someone staying in opposite building. The city itself is just too congested, rough, disorganised, lawless, crude and poorly planned. |
Nigeria my country! Every where you look, you see poverty starring you in the face. From North to South, East to West. Our politicians are just heartless albeit with stupid followers. |
SharonLoveth:Akuko! Some of them have ran away from duty especially those in the government hospitals. But you don't blame them as they are not adequately motivated and lacks protective equipment. There is so much gap between a developed world and undeveloped world. |
Please we should be careful and follow events happening around the world. Coro is a serious illness and all hands must work together to minimise the impact |
rotecch77:Bro, is those brown doors imported or locally made? Could send a full picture of those brown wooden doors |
I hope this Chadian president and people are not using style to mock our "darling" president and our "darling" country. |
Igbo man and rivalry and competition eve when nobody is fighting or competing with him. Must everything be tribalised? So irritating. What has this got to do with " Igbo Amaka" He said "Nigeria" and not "Igbo". Make una get small sense bikonu! |
Good one. They should use them to generate revenue for the running of the court. That's how it is done abroad. Celebrities are charged to court and huge money collected from them after conviction to be used to run the court and the justice department. That's why most of them are careful and the careless ones always have a date with the court. |
slimanyd:UK is even worse. Most whites have put in for sick leave and some have claimed one sickness or the other. Most nurses on the front lines are black. Some said their leave requests were turned down. However, majority are there because of the huge bonus. A nurse from my town in Nigeria working in Bronx area said he is paid $200 each day as bonus hazard allowance apart from his salary. |
Mehn, I doubt if we are following the news of what is happening in other parts of the world. Warnings came before the deaths but were ignored by people. My prayer and hope is that our immune system and weather are fighting off this virus for us. |
I am doing everything to let my children imbibe our local language but it has been so difficult and my wife is not helping matters. I speak local language to them now and if they don't understand, I explain but my wife is the type that forms the so called porch and tushed and is not supporting me in this mission. She has continued with the English language mentality. I am trying to see if my 14months baby will pick up but my wife speaks English to him like his siblings. |
Nigerians and tribal stupidity. Do the man even send all these stupid Igbo Amaka? The man is doing his business and some idiots are here claiming my tribesman. Near the gate of Air peace and claim na my brother get am without official invitation make Mopol use koboko finish you Our youths are becoming irreparably daft these days. |
The poverty level in this country is mind boggling. The people should also help themselves as too much children is a contributory factor to poverty. I don't know why people in remote village should be having 7 to 8 children without any means of sustenance. |
I respect this man because of his intellect but now re considering my opinion of him. Just imagine what he is saying. People that should know better are now causing confusion everywhere. He should please respect the laws of the land |
Feex:You did not do anything wrong. People are just emotional and sentimental. I fully understood as some people had committed time and resources to scale through the process. I consult for a client in the sector. In 2016, my client won a drilling contract and hired some engineers. The contract was cancelled by powers that be and my client informed the engineers that were hired and terminated the appointments. About 13 of them. Circumstances beyond a business may warrant termination of employment. This is Nigeria and the uncertainty in everything is usually high. The minister of finance has already said that an embargo has been placed on employment except in case of replacement. |
Please show real things and not Internet pictures or artist impression. |
Lock down can never work in a developing country. People are simply poor and lives from hand to mouth. See what is happening in Europe and US with food been distributed to the homeless. Men, there is so much gap between developed and undeveloped countries. Covid 19 have exposed that social divide and government in developing nations needs to work hard to bridge that divide. But corruption and greed will never allow them. |
See hypocrisy. You collected thousands of dollars from them as tuition and because of the current situation, you are now telling them to go home. I never liked this prime minister |
The first thing you notice when you visit African cities is the relative neatness, order, discipline and calmness that pervades the land unlike the chaotic, crude, dirty and unhygienic ghettos we have in Nigeria. God save this country honestly. We are too backward and our standards are terribly low. |
NextD18:You are just too stupid for Satan's sake. Very myopic. I hope this lockdown is not affecting your mental state. Why do you people always see things from the angle of tribalism? |
Nigeria's SMES operates under serious hindrance. See Chinese firms and the massive government support. That's why they are mass producing mask for sale abroad with huge profit. Government should support Aba to be competing with Bangladesh, Vietnam and China in textiles export |
Personal hygiene still remains the best protection against this covid. See them up there castigating what other states are doing. Nigerians are so myopic. Must everything be about 'my own better pass your own'? The fact still remains that our cities and towns are nothing to write home about. Unplanned, crowded, lack of mapping both physical and social. See the way European cities are and ease to navigate and fumigate public places |
Boko haram fear Chadian troops more than Nigerian troops. Boko boys knows who is more battle hardened. Chad haven't spent one quarter of what we have spent but are getting more result than us. |
Nigerian cities and towns are nothing to write home about. From Lagos to Onitsha to Aba to Kano to Warri. Lack of aesthetics, poor urban planning, open drainages, poor access roads, yet we want tourists to come to these shitholes. My annoyance is the way our people praise these politicians. They go abroad and see how aesthetically pleasing their roads and surroundings are and will come back to give us rubbish. Even some very poor Asian and Latin American countries have more beautiful towns and villages. We are just too backwards and our standards are terribly low in this country. |
Faber:Stupidity of the highest. No wonder someone said that the kind of illiteracy and ignorance being exhibited in Aba and Onitsha is mind boggling. You have started chest beating on top of this virus. There is no single testing centre in the SE and nobody knows the number of carriers and how far it has spread. You guys likes deceiving yourself a lot. This virus knows no boundaries. A single carrier can spread the virus to entire people if not detected on time and stopped. A lot of your people have left Lagos, the supposedly infected state and headed to SE to probably infect the oldies in the village without knowing it. Your concern should be on how to stop this virus in the world and not chest - beating for nothing. As long as there is still one infected person in the world, the world is not yet free from the virus. |
Honestly, this corona has brought out the difference between developed and undeveloped countries. The gap is simply too much. In developed countries, cities and towns are well planned, social mapping well entrenched, citizens data are monitored, social system top-notch. But check out undeveloped countries like Nigeria and India and see the mess. Managing the huge population is problematic |
See well marked roads. Nigeria will never mark their road for motorists to understand but will position one stupid LASTMA man to arrest you when you unknowingly pass the wrong road. Also, some that are praising the neatness of the place do drop things on the road. We praise abroad but we don't want to do simple good things in Nigeria. Nigeria situation is as a result of both the government and the citizens. |
Learning some new skills in international development and social intervention courses from World bank, UNDP and IMF websites. Other areas area: - technical report writing - info graphics - advanced power point and writing skills - program and project management. Above all, help my kids perfect their reading skills which I noticed tremendous improvement. Helping them to understand maths and numbers very well. I haven't been able to do all these because of work but now I am dedicating so much time to them |
See how people are insulting them. Yet, you all lined up and voted for them. They came from us. They are not different from the environment and system that brought them up. You could be worse if given the opportunity |
She will be fine. Her age bracket do survive. Nothing to worry |
What are our professors of microbiology and biochemistry doing? Mehn, watch news and see inventions coming in different places. A 3D printer capable of printing ventilators is out now. Scientists and engineered have all buried themselves in labs researching. If I was still a student, I for insult my science lecturers tire. Nigerian lecturers, they form God but hardly contributes anything to the body of knowledge |
The big problem is on tracing the contacts of index cases. Hear the commissioner, we are trying to trace about 2000 people that had contacts with the people discharged. The 2000 contacts may be somewhere infecting other people unknowingly. We should follow up with what is happening in Italy and Europe. We don't have adequate testing in Nigeria and so cannot confirm number of infected persons. |
