White elephant project. Nigerian politicians no dey use their heads. We need serious investment in human capacity training, hospitals, good rural infrastructure, poverty interventions programs, well developed good roads network, mass housing schemes, running water. Government should bring back DFRRI( Directorate of foods, roads and rural infrastructure). It's an enabler to rural development and poverty alleviation. I am not hating but we do misplace our priorities. Honestly, corona virus pandemic has exposed the wide gap between developed and undeveloped countries. |
OJURONGBE1:We all had our dreams when we were doing our courses in the University. I wanted to be a mechanical engineer in a top most organization or work in an oil and gas company or further my studies abroad with specialization in thermodynamics and fluids engineering. All these were dreams and the expectation was to get that mouth - watering offer in oil and gas sector. Sadly, after the NYSC, reality started setting in and I am not the type that lives in self denial. I always weigh my options and focus on the one most suitable towards the realization of my goals. I did all the aptitude tests for almost all the oil companies - Transocean, Slumberger, Halliburton, Total E & P, Chevron, Global Energy Company, Eni SPA (AGIP), Statoil Hydro, SNEPCO, NNPC, DPR etc. I passed the aptitude tests of all these organizations but couldn't make a head way after the interviews despite my brilliant performances. I wasn't looking at the banking or financial sector at all as it was not my thing even though I was seeing call for application from almost all the 89 banks then as they were recruiting graduates at a record level then. I finally applied to one of the new generation banks and was called for aptitude test which I passed and was called for an interview. one early morning, I was walking down my street and got a congratulatory message from the bank that I should come for medicals. After the medicals, I was asked to resume at the training school with all other trainees. I resumed and after the 6 weeks training, I was posted to the financial control department in the head office with four other trainees. The head of the department welcomed us and after reviewing our qualifications, he told me that I had to buckle up to catch up as I didn't major in accounting and finance. The head of department told me that he also graduated in civil engineering with a first class and today he is the group head of the financial control and that I must enroll in ICAN professional exams. After going through ICAN syllabus and studying it for like two weeks, I mustered up courage and registered for the foundation which I passed. I continued till I qualified. When I sat for the PTDF exams, my intention was to see if I could go back to my engineering field. PTDF questions those days had each of the courses under sponsorship. Geology, Petroleum Engineering, oil and gas accounting, petroleum economics, petroleum finance, civil engineering etc had their own respective questions. When I opened the questions booklet, I couldn't remember much in mechanical engineering that I wanted to write the exam on . I opened the questions in accounting and finance and finished the whole questions before time. When the result came out, I was part of the 10 people shortlisted in my state. That's how I went to UK to study petroleum finance under PTDF scholarship and came back to Nigeria to continue with my finance work with a company in oil and gas. Since then, I have been into accounting and finance and don't intend leaving it now. I have already set up my own consultancy in that field, Though the challenges are still there as getting clients are difficult but I am happy with my achievement. I told myself that I would be on my own once I clock 40 years and that's exactly what I did when I left the company I was working for to set up my own consultancy. The good thing is that the company signed a retainer ship contract with me as I am being paid based on job delivered. This has given me opportunities to also work for other people in areas of taxation, management consulting, international development and audit. That is it - I took time to do this for others to also learn. You must not insist on practicing what you studied in school. look for where opportunities could come from and develop your capabilities in those areas. |
brunofarad:Ok |
twinskenny:Oh thanks. I will reach him |
brunofarad:Bro, I need someone to replicate this type of tile cladding with space. One of the attachments is your work I saw. Look at the design very well
|
valencia2012:Hello bro, have you gotten any artisan with this skill? I am also looking for who could replicate this type of cladding. Most of them will claim knowledge of the skill but will end up messing up the whole thing. I want to do same in my property |
This man is truly hungry and jobless. He couldn't even afford a good book shelf and AC. See the small table fan he is managing without AC. See how his office is looking. The man needs government appointment by all means. |
Nigerians and wickedness. Something must have made her to do that. Why go extreme to humiliate her. Our politicians and leaders are products of our environment and behavior. We're not different from our politicians |
Nawao, from states house to a local cemetery. If someone had fore told this to ABBA, he wouldn't have believed it. This life is complicated. From the comfort and luxuries of power to a grave yard where silence is the order of the day. What a mystery. |
Just like that. From the comfort of the state house to a lonely cemetery in a space of one month. |
Nigerians. I am sure most of them are from SE. They like beer die. |
LibertyRep:They did attend Cambridge alumni together. I saw an old picture of the two laughing together. I am sure if not for Abba, the government would have used EFCC to finish FFK. Abba seemed to have interceded for him in his corruption case. No one is hearing about it again. Lesson to the youths: leave all these politicians. They know themselves and must have met somewhere. Don't allow their squabble to make you hate your friends. |
Ironic:Stupidity on the loose! Be deceiving yourself. With Covid -19, there is no border |
Even those praying for his death are hypocritically typing RIP as if they cared. His death does not change your situation. Don't judge anybody for you are not even perfect. |
I hate racism in any form but truly, black man sometimes misbehaves. As a student in UK in the late 2000,sometimes, I felt ashamed of the behavior of some of my fellow Nigerian students. Some were simply notorious and got hailed by the typical Nigerian back benchers student. I failed to identify with a lot of them. |
Must it be a medical field? As a development consultant, I am sound in monitoring and evaluation jobs. I don't mind offering my services o. I think I will apply and see how it goes. This goes a long way to enrich ones field work experience. I will have to get my complete PPE if I am called. This is a call for national service. Over a million people volunteered for this kind of service in UK. Why can't I do same in Nigeria? |
I doubt if companies would pay. I haven't submitted my invoice to my client as they haven't received in flows from their own customers. That's emotional consideration from my own part. I also follow up on them to advise them on how to navigate through this crisis and follow through with their receivables. Their success is also my success. Though I need my pay but I am also mindful of the fact that they are facing challenges. |
The worst I have ever seen. The man himself is even predisposed to the virus considering his weight. Low quality standard in everything about the state. |
This thing should have been extended nationwide for a meaningful impact. Some countries are even looking at May 30th as the end of their lock down. I feel for the poor masses honestly and those on subsistence living. |
At least 15 hours and my inverter is always supportive. I enjoy 24hours power when Nepa and inverter are combined. Can't remember the last time I bought fuel. |
Get Supradyn multivitamin capsules. One of the most potent multivitamin in the world by Roche. |
Where are their parents? They should be arrested also. Those that do not have the means of raising kids should have no business with giving birth. There is a consequence for every child born in any a society - It could be a good or a bad consequence depending on the circumstances of the birth of the child. Most Nigerians give birth without adequate planning and consideration on how to turn the child into a useful adult. At the end, the child will become a menace to the society. Please give birth to the number of children you could wholly cater for. Even if it is one or two, quality is far more important than numbers. 99% of these guys were born by their parents without any adequate means to cater and train them into useful adults. |
Good write up. I remember my stay in UK between 2009 to 2010 when I went to do my masters courtesy of PTDF scholarship. I started in September 2009 and by 2010, I had submitted my thesis. I got a job in St. Andrews Community hospital, Scotland as an office assistant. The matron asked me to be assisting the nurses in some of the duties with an increased pay. Mind you, I wasn't trained as a nurse. My masters was on finance. But I enjoyed my work so much and my scottish colleagues liked me without any bias. No racism at all, and they were very free with me as I worked so hard to win their trust and respect. The lady nurses were so fond of me that they were always seeking for my attention and companionship. The Matron noticed it and smiled why we were having a private informal discussion and said jokingly that I was now a darling of the nurses. She said, " please make your choice quickly among the nurses so that others will know where they stand". I was just laughing and she said she meant her statement. There is no such segregation in the health care sector over there in the North. |
Theresa May's speech in Capetown, South Africa about Nigeria was captured aptly and I quote: "Much of Nigeria is thriving, with many individuals enjoying the fruits of a resurgent economy. Yet 87 million Nigerians live on less than $1.90 a day – making it home to more very poor people than any other nation in the world." Indeed, millions of my country men and women are living in poverty. |
So the most marginalized region has the lowest poverty index? It may be true going also by reports from UN, UNDP and other development agencies. Despite being marginalized, the region still boast the region with lowest incidence of poverty. That tells you that the greatest assets of any country is their human resources. Nigeria government should work hard towards improving the quality of her citizen. As I always said, poverty in the North is cultural and religious in nature. These two social lifestyles needs to be modified to reduce the endemic poverty in the North. |
Nigerians and poverty and yet people will continue to breed like rabbits. There is need for a strong policy on population. Over population is not good for Africa as the resources are not sufficient for the people. The rate of child birth among rural dwellers and those within the poverty bracket is alarming. Kudos to the man. |
Make oil price rally Abeg o. My client never pay me as he himself haven't received anything. Price increase is what oil producers needs now. |
Nigerians and culture of praising mediocrity in everything. I am not hating but any hard-working local government chairman could do more than this. This is small compare to what they were elected to do. I always believe that the amount looted in any project is far higher than the value of any projected completed in this country. |
Mehn, some businessmen and contractors are cleaning out big time in this corona era. I knew I would see oyibo man in all these contract. Them like money no be small. Even if the whole Nigeria is infected, they will still be here doing business while the locals will be lamenting. However, some of our local contractors are quacks. |
This is why I don't encourage single girls/ladies to enter this PR express entry. What the OP said is true. A lady that left us more than 6 years ago when we were in the banking sector told me that she was always feeling bored and intended coming back but have not been able to secure something decent in Nigeria. She said the place is too boring for her without any family member even though she tries to socialize with people but at the end you still go back home to your loneliness and misses the usual TGIF we do on Fridays, weekend weddings and other social events. Most important to her now is to get married as the chances of her getting hooked in Canada is too remote and fast approaching 33 years. Nigeria may have its own problems but as a single lady, if you are doing well in Nigeria, abeg maintain here o |
See how you now dot your son that you gave Shola money to abort. Abortion is never an option. When that baby you want to abort is born and start developing, you would be full of regret why you wanted to abort the child at first time. People should learn this lesson especially guys, never give your girl friend money to go and do abortion. |
Do you still have this your door
