2LESS:Most of the things in the North that supports poverty are cultural. There are some cultural myths and beliefs system that need to be jettisoned. Some cultural practices and beliefs systems in North helps fuel poverty according to Emir Sanusi. |
Yet they will keep breeding children like rabbit. I don't understand why people that are under intense war and famine always have the boldness to bring kids into the world. For some people, having kids is just a formality. No means of training them. Come to Lagos and see kids without family and support system. That's why in Africa, human beings have lost its value. No more premium placed on human beings. It is just a number. With all due apologies, I hate it when I see poor people and people without means of sustenance give birth. For what exactly? This is going to increase your own suffering because you are no more catering for yourself alone but a new born as well. I fear for the future of this country as the out of school children and children without homes and parents are increasing on daily basis. In the future, most of them are likely to take revenge on the society for abandoning them through arm robbery and other social vices. Any time I pass through Oshodi and see army of kids and teens doing nothing, I fear for this country. |
He should also work on human capacity development. Physical development without equivalent human capital development is always a recipe for disaster. This is why I laugh when I see people praising government for constructing road. The quality of human being in any society determines the course of trajectory for that society. If he fails to develop the mental capacity of Ebonyi/ Abakiliki people, those beautiful infrastructure would not make any sense. When I see the beatification of Lagos, through planting of flowers and green grasses, I just laughed because at the end, only agberos and touts will occupy those beautiful parks and garden. See all the parks and green areas started by Fashola, Lagosians doesn't visit those places because they are all den of agberos and people mess up the lawns with impunity. It tells you the kind of quality and thinking of the human beings inhabiting the place, Kudos to Umahi any way. |
Citytrend:Chest beater!! What do you stand to gain? Your governor was seen crying after the herdsmen terror attack on your state. Focus on condemning the activities of the terror group instead of bringing your useless chest beating into this unfortunate incidence. |
Godwin2am:Very intelligent write up but sadly, most people here won't read it. I watched a video on two different types of economy: Religion Economy and Knowledge Economy. Nigeria belongs to the former. Until we discard religion in our thinking, we would continue to be backwards. Don't get me wrong. I believe in God and takes my faith seriously. However, I still believe that breakthroughs, success, innovation and economic development has no religious undertone. Success is achieved by using your God's given brain and intelligence. I love this your write up. Keep it up. |
BiafraforTrump:Be deceiving yourself. No go tell your governor to work hard and use his state allocation and develop your state. Be there and be wishing Biafra that will never be. I don't know why you people will never put pressure on your governors to perform but will be wishing for an imaginary Biafra |
And the Students voted him as their president the same way we vote in charlatans and cultists into power in Nigeria. Our electoral system needs serious reforms. Nigerians like to vote in people as long as say na their man irrespective of his character. I have since bided good bye to voting in Nigeria. I cant be part of people that put in unserious politician to power. Until a sound and good leader comes up to contest for an election, then I will go and vote. As long as the options available are same people, I doubt if I could still go and queue on a line to vote in charlatans. |
This is not the time to start attacking Buhari or the government. Fighting a jihadist insurgents is never an easy battle. Borno state alone is bigger than the whole of South East in LAND MASS. The soldiers and security forces cannot cover that whole swath of that area. But the government need to engage with the Syrian regime and Russia to learn how they were able to recover a large swath of land from the rebel fighters. Agreed that the rebels in Syria are more of organized fighting force compared to the Gorilla warfare tactics adopted by the Boko Haram Jihadists, let our government devise a more offensive way to tackle this menace especially in areas of intelligence gathering. |
Fgbread:You are right. I use pure coconut oil. No addition. Just coconut oil. It makes them looks long and soft. |
Start using coconut oil on your hair after shaving and start growing your beards. Beards makes bald people to look cute. I used to have clean shaven face before but when I noticed that baldness was setting in, I started shaving my hair, keeping it to a level of brush hair. I started growing my beards which were growing very fast and thick. A totally new look developed that always makes me to look so professional and bold. As they say, beards gang rocks. So, shave off and find a new look for your self. |
This life sha! I wonder what he would be thinking at that final moment. At the point of death, every other things becomes immaterial. Watch as the business empire he built collapses. Igbos and Nigerians in general, have serious succession planning problem in business. A lot of businesses built by the founder are now moribund as the second and third generation are not prepared to lead those empires. In Nnewi, where is Ekene Dili Chukwu, Izuchukwu and other notable businessmen and industrialists? |
Some may not even want to come back - they will rather continue with their hustle there. Some staff are staying out of work especially in factories and ports, migrants are the ones filling up the positions temporary to keep the economy moving. A typical Nigerian loading goods in container in Wuhan region wouldn't even wanna leave the job and come back home. |
Nigerians, always behaving and representing well when with Oyibos. Some will even be speaking and forming with fake accents. But once they step into Nigeria, they become something else altogether. Is there anything wrong with the geographical entity called Nigeria? |
Your contact and address |
When Geologists and historians writes and say, one million years ago, my people, do you know what one thousand years looks like? Mehn, it has been long that this world started. It has not been long since Christ came as historians usually says he came about 2000 years ago. This means that life and human have been existing millions of years before the coming of Christ. Some believed that animals metamorphosed into human. Honestly, the story of life and evolution is too complicated to understand. The stories of cave men and Eskimos are always interesting to read |
Kai, please nobody should ever refer to Nigeria as a Zoo. From all indication, Zoo seems more serene and better organised than this jungle. Savage kingdom should be the right word. Look at the faces of those that burnt the man. People of this country looks and behaves crudely in everything. I am so sad right now. Imagine the fate that awaits the six children of these two people that died. I pity them and the rough road ahead in this un forgiven country. |
My Lord Bishop, I support your statement fully. Mbaka is seriously spoiling the image of the Church. I wished that Cardinal Okogie was the Bishop of Enugu Diocese. He would have ex-communicated the man sharply. I don't know why Catholic Bishops in the East are docile when compared to West and North. If you are a Catholic priest in those area, do any how, and see any how. Talk of Adewale Martins, Okogie, Mathew Hassan Kukah, Onaiyekan and co. The Bishops in the East are always soft with priests that are misbehaving |
helinues:Ignorance!!! He just replaced Mr Nnana from South East. The appointment was based on the constitutional requirements of representation of regions in CBN. All regions should have someone from the region as a deputy governor of CB N but the president can appoint the governor from any region. |
When in UK, EU and US, they are treated with respect and accorded special treatment as belonging to minority group of LGBT. One even got admitted to the prestigious Brown University, an Ivy University on account of being a lesbian. |
Nostalgic feeling. Going to Church in my Dad's 504, he played the songs all the time. All those cassette hawker in the 90's liked playing their music. Then during burials. Very common in the East. |
This immigration overseas, especially to Canada by Nigerians has claimed a lot of professionals. At least, I could count about 19 of my former colleagues. Some of us that are still in this " jungle" are seen as insane. A friend asked my wife when she went to put to bed in US what we are still doing in Nigeria. The hopelessness in this country is driving a lot out of this country, even the professionals that are doing very well still forms the highest chunk of people leaving. Some of these professionals do not believe that their children would be lucky to have a decent job and living as they did. Lastly, the insecurity of lives tops the list on most people"s mind. When you are not sure of your life when you leave your homes is a compelling ground to seek safety overseas |
See what the death of one man has caused. I didn't support US killing the Iranian General but the burial of the General and other aftermath effect has caused the death of more than 250 Iranians. |
CSTR2:I think, N500 paid through "verify me" according my niece. I don't have all the information. When I got PTDF scholarship in 2009, there wasn't anything like NIN verification. |
The bottled leopard made me not to sleep well while in boarding school in early 90's. 1991 precisely. I was always worried about the story after we read it in our literature class in my JSS |
Government agencies and poor coordination. NIN is using some agencies to collect money from Nigerians. They have penetrated PTDF, Immigration, JAMB, WAEC, very soon na NEPA, yet the process of getting the so called NIN is too cumbersome. My niece has been on this NIN for his PTDF application but no success yet. |
soberdrunk:I can bet you that I pay more taxes than some of these Nigerian millionaires and billionaires. Getting them to pay their fair share of tax is always a problem. That's why the poor are not feeling the impact of these so called millionaires and billionaires. In advanced countries, taxes from all these millionaires are used to support the poor and provide public goods. |
It is easy to loose faith in God in Nigeria because of the enormity of the problems and challenges that we face and most of them remain unresolved even after our fasting and prayer. Sometimes, it could be difficult to believe God in the midst of huge unemployment, unsafe road, occultic people and other man - made challenges that good governance should ordinarily solve without any recourse to God or spiritual intervention. During my student's days in Scotland more than 10years ago, I had so much trust in God. I wasn't asking for many things as what I would ordinarily asked have been provided by the government. It is very comforting and fulfilling being a good Christian and believing so much in God in a developed world than in Nigeria where the worries of life could make you to loose faith and compromise big time. |
My uncle and my father. Two brothers that loved themselves so much. Did everything together that it trickled to us their children and wives. Their bond and unity was out of this world. My father bought the 504 Peugeot from PAN in kaduna and my Uncle got the Beetle from Volkswagen in Lagos, all mint, the same day. Christmas of that year was the bomb as all eyes were on our families. Rest in peace uncle. Just as volkswagen have rested your beloved bettle, God have also rested your soul. However, sadly, the United family you laboured to build and sustain is fast crumbling because of enmity and outside influence. In Chinua Achebe's voice, an enemy has entered and used a sharp knife to cut off the rope of love and brotherhood that joined us together. |
One thing I have noticed among all these cities is the aesthetics appeal of the buildings, environment and landscaping. These are all lacking in Nigeria. Our architects and builders are not creative at all. The same building designs without consideration for aesthetics. Secondly, the chaotic, crude and overcrowded nature of Nigeria towns makes our environment unappealing for tourists. We are too disorganised in this country with absolute indiscipline in all spheres of life. |
gloriaunobi:Canada is too boring o. You better remain here |
Beremx:Unnecessary chest beating. People that always chest - beat have inferiority complex. Why use Hausa man in your narrative? |
And some are praising and happy that their Governor boarded first class.... we are just too myopic in this country. How does this improves the lives of Zamfara people? |
