It will take almost two years to bring back confidence in the sporting world.

Our standard of living is terribly low in this country and our leaders will be doing as if all is well. Living in an unimaginable affluence.

That's why most western countries usually object to appointing people from Africa and developing world into sensitive UN positions.

They are not usually strong and could easily be manipulated for lack of confidence and sometimes low self esteem.

I am using this lock down to retool and up scale my skills.

I have watched a lot of videos in youtube in areas I want to develop competence.

Honestly, youtube is a full fledged University. Learnt advanced use of SPSS and Info graphics tools and am I now a pro, using SPSS to analyse a lot of data.

I love historical sites and monuments. That's why I took at time to visit historical sites in UK why I was doing my masters.

I visited both Cambridge and Oxford universities to see the labs of those famous scientists that I read about in my secondary school advance physics like Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Rutherford and co.

Visited a lot of ancient buildings in Scotland. We should cultivate the habit of preserving buildings and not destroying to elect new ones.

My university in UK is more than 200 years and some of the buildings were the stone and brick buildings still standing up till now.

Go to UNN, Ife and co and see dilapidated buildings built in 1960 without adequate maintenance.

We lack maintenance culture in Nigeria.

Stupid youths! Fighting and insulting one another over incompetent leaders that have impoverished them over the years.

This is not good. I feel the hunger in people but we should observe all the social distancing measures.

Second wave of spread won't be funny. Onitsha and Aba are simply too congested to allow any social distancing.

God should save Africa as our society and systems can't cope with lock down

Poverty distorts human thinking and good judgement.

I blame the government for making poverty as the centre peace of their policy.

Nigerians are very poor and could do anything to have a decent meal.

This corona has exposed the wide divide between us and the developed world.

You will weep when you see the type of abject poverty ravaging people in the remote villages in the North, South, East and West.

That was my maternal cousin in 2019. We went to the same prestigious but very expensive catholic school where his father struggled to train him there.

The family wasn't doing well but the father was bent on training his children with little assistance from my father and my mother.

We finished university and search for a decent employment was a struggle for him.

Sadly, his father died without seeing the fruits of his labour as all his children he laboured to train were all struggling to find their feet.

Later, my cousin got a job in an engineering construction company and within 4 years rose through the ranks as the owner of the construction firm placed so much trust in him.

Later, he was able to complete a beautiful mansion in the village and bought the latest toyota spider, thanks also to the generosity of the owner of the company where he worked.

Two months after his house opening and dedication, he developed a strange illness that nobody could fathom.

When I called him over the phone while on his sick bed, he told me, " naa, this people almost killed me, but thank God, I am making a recovery. Let's hook up when I come to Lag as I would be in Lagos to meet some turkish contractors on behalf my oga".

That was the last discussion and in the evening of that same day, my sister called me to tell me that Noble is dead. I almost passed out.

Just like that and all the dreams vanished. May God rest his soul.

My wife's libido is high. Before the lock down, my work do take me outside Lagos for weeks.

But this lock down, the woman is enjoying me bad! I am to give it to her the way she wants it.

It has been good just that I have been dragging her to come so that I teach her certain things and get her ready for future job after the lock down. But she hasn't shown interest which sometimes get to my nerve.

It is in Lagos. Tenant gave my uncle trouble before he was introduced to the lawyer. The lawyer signs agreement with you and pay the annual amount as agreed.

The lawyer recharges that back to the tenants with his mark up and he also has the right to increase rent on your property without your objection as long as he has paid you what two of you agreed.

Part of the agreement is also that my uncle should not interfere any time the lawyer wanted to eject any tenant or bring in new ones. He is fully in charge.

The contract is reviewed after every four years. My uncle is happy about the management of his property so far.

Those insulting the guy are not Landlords. When you build a house, you will understand the sacrifices required to put up a house.

I passed through it and I know. Every hard work deserves a wage. The tenant could have put it in a subtle way rather than being aggressive in responding to a rightful demand for rent.

That's why I like to use heartless and no nonsense lawyers as agents/caretakers.

My uncle's house is managed by one Ogbomosho lawyer with heavy Yoruba tribal marks.

Every year, he pays my uncle the whole rent money as agreed with him and the lawyer then goes after the tenants to collect back the money with 15% mark up margin.

Since then, my uncle dey enjoy him money without any tenant wahalla. The lawyer has taken over the wahala and those tenant traders that were tough and stubborn don humble once Baba lawyer talk.

Another citizen failed by her country's institution and infrastructure.

There is so much gap between developed and undeveloped world.

Sometimes I don't blame those jetting out to canada, UK and Australia to settle.

They want a safe and secure future for themselves and their children especially.

The Corona has exposed the wide gap between developed and developing nation.

I had maintained that I wouldn't be leaving this country but my wife has started putting pressure for us to enrolle in the Canada federal skill immigration and leave.

Sometimes, the behaviour of our leaders makes some of us that still wants to stay here in Nigeria to look insane.

So sad. If not the lock down, he would have been taken abroad.

There was so much delay between applying for a special airlift permit and approval both from the Nigerian authorities and German government as all flights operations have been cancelled.

My people, build your networking skills. Develop capabilities and skills on things that could independently fetch you money.

2020 is going to be a tough year. It will be hard to see companies that are willing to recruit officially. Build contacts with those that are working in case of any opportunity in their organization.

I spent so much to get my kids born in US. Though all of them are here with me in Nigeria.

White elephant project. Nigerian politicians no dey use their heads. We need serious investment in human capacity training, hospitals, good rural infrastructure, poverty interventions programs, well developed good roads network, mass housing schemes, running water.

Government should bring back DFRRI( Directorate of foods, roads and rural infrastructure). It's an enabler to rural development and poverty alleviation.

I am not hating but we do misplace our priorities. Honestly, corona virus pandemic has exposed the wide gap between developed and undeveloped countries.

Sir , you're one of those monikers i respect a lot on this forum. You're a thoroughly bred ,educated and well rounded person. However, I must ask why you changed career from Engineering to finance ?

We all had our dreams when we were doing our courses in the University. I wanted to be a mechanical engineer in a top most organization or work in an oil and gas company or further my studies abroad with specialization in thermodynamics and fluids engineering.

All these were dreams and the expectation was to get that mouth - watering offer in oil and gas sector. Sadly, after the NYSC, reality started setting in and I am not the type that lives in self denial. I always weigh my options and focus on the one most suitable towards the realization of my goals.

I did all the aptitude tests for almost all the oil companies - Transocean, Slumberger, Halliburton, Total E & P, Chevron, Global Energy Company, Eni SPA (AGIP), Statoil Hydro, SNEPCO, NNPC, DPR etc.

I passed the aptitude tests of all these organizations but couldn't make a head way after the interviews despite my brilliant performances. I wasn't looking at the banking or financial sector at all as it was not my thing even though I was seeing call for application from almost all the 89 banks then as they were recruiting graduates at a record level then.

I finally applied to one of the new generation banks and was called for aptitude test which I passed and was called for an interview. one early morning, I was walking down my street and got a congratulatory message from the bank that I should come for medicals. After the medicals, I was asked to resume at the training school with all other trainees.

I resumed and after the 6 weeks training, I was posted to the financial control department in the head office with four other trainees. The head of the department welcomed us and after reviewing our qualifications, he told me that I had to buckle up to catch up as I didn't major in accounting and finance.

The head of department told me that he also graduated in civil engineering with a first class and today he is the group head of the financial control and that I must enroll in ICAN professional exams.

After going through ICAN syllabus and studying it for like two weeks, I mustered up courage and registered for the foundation which I passed. I continued till I qualified.

When I sat for the PTDF exams, my intention was to see if I could go back to my engineering field. PTDF questions those days had each of the courses under sponsorship.

Geology, Petroleum Engineering, oil and gas accounting, petroleum economics, petroleum finance, civil engineering etc had their own respective questions. When I opened the questions booklet, I couldn't remember much in mechanical engineering that I wanted to write the exam on .

I opened the questions in accounting and finance and finished the whole questions before time. When the result came out, I was part of the 10 people shortlisted in my state. That's how I went to UK to study petroleum finance under PTDF scholarship and came back to Nigeria to continue with my finance work with a company in oil and gas.

Since then, I have been into accounting and finance and don't intend leaving it now. I have already set up my own consultancy in that field, Though the challenges are still there as getting clients are difficult but I am happy with my achievement.

I told myself that I would be on my own once I clock 40 years and that's exactly what I did when I left the company I was working for to set up my own consultancy. The good thing is that the company signed a retainer ship contract with me as I am being paid based on job delivered.

This has given me opportunities to also work for other people in areas of taxation, management consulting, international development and audit.

That is it - I took time to do this for others to also learn. You must not insist on practicing what you studied in school. look for where opportunities could come from and develop your capabilities in those areas.
