Forget the degree and focus on your career. All those science courses in our universities are waste of time. Nigeria's economy is not productive and diversified to absorb those from natural sciences. I am not discouraging people, but studying natural science courses in Nigeria now is becoming waste of time. I studied Engineering but couldn't make a breakthrough to secure a place in the oil industry. I got offer with an investment bank, with good starting salary as a trainee after passing the numerous aptitude tests and interviews. I enrolled for ICAN, starting from the foundation papers and qualified. Did masters abroad in finance and have since, became authority in finance and accounting. Currently, I am on my own as a chartered accountant and management consultant. Science graduates have edge over their art counterparts. As an engineering graduate, we are better placed to pass the aptitude tests because of our strong background in mathematics. Many of my mates that scaled aptitude tests had background in engineering and sciences. So, learn as much as you could. Go to YouTube and read about your functional area in the bank. You have to put extra efforts. A lot of Bankers majored in disciplines out side the finance and accounting courses. Lucky you. Once you are able to secure a graduate position in the current Nigeria labor market, just thank your God, as a good career path has been created for you to follow. Those not lucky will be moving from one contract jobs to another; from one low position to another. Please, utilise this opportunity to the fullest. Don't waste it or take it for granted. Use it to build your capacity for the future as learning is a continuous thing. I am grateful that such path came my way when it did. It is always difficult for people to find their footings in the corporate world once they miss that opportunity of being hired as a graduate trainee in reputable firms like banks or multinational. Good luck to you! |
Men will never learn. It is good to toil and work hard for your family. But please, take care of your health and your self. Once in a while,I totally disconnect from my family, find a comfort hotel or eatery and enjoy myself. Taking care of myself has become a great priority for me now. Is it selfishness? May be. |
OP is trying to gather some statiscal information for her employer. It seems she works for Arise tv. Nothing wrong with your intention o. Sometimes, you take stock to know how your activities affected the overall outcomes of any undertaken. |
Maduka has concluded plans to sue Alex Reporters. ![]() The guy and his crew members chop the man money wella and were giving him all the hopes. I said that Maduka should have exercised patience and wait for APGA ticket after Soludo's tenure. He is more fitted with the APGA way of reasoning. |
I go outside on a long walk. Find a quiet place after the walk and start visualizing all the goals and the things I would love to achieve. Then if time permits, I visit the blessed sacrament in my church for meditation. |
Stella Obasanjo! That was the same fate that befell her. People were shocked when they heard of her death as she was full of life. Just maintain the way you are - nothing do you. Don't mind all the gossips and the hypes people show on the social media. Sometimes, you may have to disconnect yourself from mainstream social medias like facebook for your sanity. Anyway, apart from LinkedIn, Nairaland and Whatsapp, I don't do any other social media. Is it weird? My choice! |
Good fact! Nice observation. My father trained a lot of "Umu boy" then in his hey days at Onitsha. Mostly from Enugu and Abakiliki. At the peak of my father's trading business in the 80' and early 90s, we had about seven of them in our house. All were settled and were doing relatively well. There is no more youth willing to learn trade or apprenticeship. Everybody wants the fast money. The "Nwa boy" or "Umu boy" apprenticeship system helped built and distributed wealth in the Igbo families and supported the great social mobility witnessed after the unfortunate civil war. Families that were hitherto very poor, saw their situations changed because one of their sons has been settled by his "Oga" and is now doing very well in Onitsha or Lagos. Before you say jack, he has demolished his father's old hut house and erected a befitting structure. The neighbor, seeing what Mazi Okeke's son did, will encourage his Son and even pushed him higher to meet up with his mates. Healthy and sometimes, unhealthy competition and rivalry, bestrode the Igbo communities, especially in Anambra. |
OlawaleBammie:They did not say "election" would not hold. They said "erection" would not hold. True true, "erection" did not hold. What we are seeing in Anambra holding is "election" |
I like this guy. Very matured and decent. No drama |
Nigerians and gullibility!!! Fake fake and fake!!! Friends over seas are the ones that runs their friends in Nigeria street because of desperation in an average Nigerian residing here. There is no Job for those with PR and citizens and you are being deceived with a fake offer. What skills do you have that could make a Canadian employer to take you before those residents in the country? Employers go through a lot to hire a foreigner and some wouldn't want to pass through the stress except if the candidate is highly exceptional. Be wise o! |
I always see their advert. My wife has been looking for an opportunity to work for an international NGO and was looking for something that will enrich her experience in humanitarian aid assistance work. She wanted to apply to them even on volunteering basis. I told her not to bother that they don't look legit. I can smell fraud miles away. Some of all these adverts in Facebook are fake jobs. Be wise while seeking for job. Scammers are on the prowl, looking for who to devour. |
She doesn't look like a medical student. Most medical students are conservative and reserved. This one looks like those that will be moved to Combined Biological sciences (CBS) after the first year because of poor academic performance. |
She should go and sit down. Using Ojukwu to weep up idiotic sentiments. That's what APGA is known for. Riding on the back of Ojukwu to deceive the gullible ones. Same way APC used Buhari to deceive the gullible Nigerians. |
That Femi must be very stubborn and combative. No sense of decorum upon all the wealth. He couldn't still get his project right with the government. This is how Nigerians behave when they are connected. They won't allow regulators and people to do their work. |
What is the problem with Reno and this Sahara? Is it a crime to go and see one's doctor? I don't blame them. I blame the Nigerian government that hardly come out to tell the people the truth. There is nothing wrong in seeking medical care or seeing your doctor. But as a public figure, your subject deserves to know and not be guessing. |
Honestly, I don't understand how celebrities fans do these things o. I cant remember being attached to a celebrity or to any person, be it a a leader or important personality that will make me to be so obsessed about the person. The way fans adore their celebrities, especially abroad is something else. If they advertise for a product, you see the fan queuing up to buy that product, whether they need it or not. I don't follow any body blindly o. |
I don't know how these guys dey get liver do all these things. And most of all these fraudsters are also educated and passed through the University. |

SE governors should know that buying and selling do not sustain an economy. SE is full of private and solo merchants, who pays next to nothing as PAYE. My PAYE is far higher than some billionaires PAYE. The irony in SE, especially Anambra, is that they have poor government but rich people. While in most northern states, they have rich government but poor people. |
The governor is the kind of people IPOB should be putting pressure on. IPOB hardly monitor the performance of SE governors. It is not about having an utopian independent state. It is about changing behaviour. They should start with demanding good governance from SE governors |
This Nigeria money, I go follow dem chop am. Na why japa no dey mind. The money go follow reach every body. A whole accountant general that should be frugal and prudent in money and resources management. When you see all these people, you will think that they have any atom of professionalism. Civil servants are the engine of corruption and not the politicians. |
The concrete run way seems better than the one in Anambra that looks like where they poured black bitumen on top mud red soil. It would soon wash off. Concrete roads are now bae. Go and see the quality of concrete road dangote is building in Lagos. |
Nawao, so Maduka no dey? ![]() They should consider all the efforts the man is making. At least, he should participate in the debate. |
Nigerian Architects and the same house designs. I was surprised that there were no pillars in front of the house. ![]() We should be innovative when it comes to houses and interiors design. Our houses and homes are all the same in shape and design. |
Honestly, being from a poor home in Nigeria is the most traumatic and dehumanizing experience for anyone. |
Game plan. The presidential candidate will now emerge from either the North West or north east. He would now step down as he said for the chairmanship position to revert back to South. That's why no body from either the North West or north east contested. They are going for the presidential ticket. |
The teachers in that school are terribly stupid. What message were they trying to pass. What rubbish?? Subjecting the kids to this cruelty. |
I enjoy all men and women of goodwill from the Eastto rise together against this monsters called IPOB. |
So sad! She is being intimidated. They don't want her to be the next chief justice of Nigeria. I think she should be the next in line. |
As usual, very poor quality job. It is not about Anambra. It is about Nigeria as a whole. Our standards in everything thing are terribly low. Look at South Africa and see the quality of stadium and turfs used by amateur clubs talk more of stadiums owned by cities like Capetown or Pretoria. I refused to lower my standards to Nigerians standards. The work is poor. We should stop gloryfing rubbish and praising these politicians. |
ezenwaez:My wife's status reads "Beneficiary" but she has not received any stipend. She concluded her physical verification last month. No stipend yet. |
This is the APC candidate in Anambra. APC will rig him in because of his popularity. He would later decamp to APC. Andy Uba is a bad market for APC. |
