Great experts in the house. I have been looking for glass window that will remain opaque at night when the light is switched on. That's, opaque to the outsiders. Not able to see the inside of the house.

Most tinted glass windows remains opaque to those outside the house during the day time only. I have an area in my build that I want to mount fixed glass without putting blinds or curtains. But would want glass that would remain opaque at night when light is on

Please discard this idea. Don't go there and waste your scarce resources. There is no job, especially in professional finance sector for foreigners. Depression will set in after the so called two years post study visa must have expired.

If you are from a rich home, no problems. But if you are self funded and intends paying from your hard earned money, please abort mission. They are interested in your money. Channel that money to better use in Nigeria.

The kind of depression and frustration that lots of Nigerians face after spending their hard earned money in UK without job after words is better imagined than experienced. It's not funny. One was practically begging for a call center job after close to two years sitting at home with all the drama from her family.

Alucoboard is not my thing though. Even stainless steel gates is not something I’m likely to consider too for finishing and strength.

I’d have taken up the challenge but my plate dey full right now. However, there are cool alucoboard sturvs to explore at Qualitik’s in Dopemu, Lagos.

https://www.qualitiks-mart.com/

Na there I dey do my perspex acrylic sheet, polycarbonate, foamboards, wood composite etc.
They seems loaded, but their prices may be higher compare to the open market prices.
Interesting stuff in their showroom. Honestly, I will explore the option of alucobond made sliding gate. I like my gate to be light and beautiful

I want my welder to use this alucobond to construct an entrance sliding gate because of its light nature. What do you think?

Dont yab me ooo..

Has anyone thought of using Aluco boards for gates? It's going to be lightweight and CHEAPER I guess.

My welder in Ajah has been sending me gate prices from 450,000 upwards..
Have you seen sample of Alucoboard made gate before? It would be interesting to see that. The finishing will look more beautiful but the durability may not be good.

Over to you n3xt. Take on the challenge

Educated citizens; backward country. Nigeria is an irony. I am not moved by these qualifications. You hardly see their impact on our national development. Their own is just to be answering Prof. and titles. I hope he doesn't mis-appropriate public funds. I don't trust all these our higher institution administrators. They are not different from our politicians.

I hope UGM wont come there to scatter the whole thing.

Igbos should note that cheering on these UGM will not do them good. They will end up damaging the reputation of the region.

No sensible foreign investors would invest in a region prone to violence and secession. They should allow peace to reign for the sake of posterity. Those calling for violence wont be there when the conflagration starts.

To be honest, I sometimes feel ungrateful by not liking my job. It's a job most people pray for. But that's life, sometimes you don't like what you don't like. At this point, I wouldn't even want to work for any organization again, even with a million pay monthly.

Sometimes, you just want to dedicate your time and effort to your own thing. The greatest thing holding me back is fear of the unknown. Leaving your comfort zone and then finding you made a terrible mistake. This is what keeps most people working for decades without being fulfilled.
I was in your shoes five years ago. The job was demanding and the commute from mainland to island was taken its toll on me. The stress was too much. I took a leap of faith to resign and set up my own consulting business.

It has not been easy. I haven't been able to gross my former annual salary when I was in the paid employment. I could do mostly five to six Jobs for clients in a year. But I am fulfilled and happy. My quality of life is top-notch. I don't worry about any crazy deadlines and stress of commuting daily to work.

However, my fees are still not up to my former annual salary. Money is not everything. Peace of mind, comfort, contentment and good living are paramount to me.

Think deep before making any decision

You can never under estimate the influence and importance of government patronage in Nigeria. Most rich people have one thing in common in Nigeria: Government patronage.

Once you are able to execute one contract and build the me necessary connection, forget, you will make it. Mine will surely come. I am waiting for the right connection.

The paint actually stayed on the block but the finishing is not smooth. Though it’s not deliberate screed.

I’ll give it a trial when the applicators come to do the fence.
This will be a game changer in the build industry. Bro, I am waiting for the outcome of this experiment. Anything to reduce the cost of cement will be welcomed.

I saw the gravitex paint used on a building at amuwo odofin area in Lagos and it was a beauty to behold.

PoliticsRe: Comply With IPOB Sit-At-Home In The North & Lose Your Shops - Arewa Warns by Focusmind: 9:42am On Oct 05, 2021
I support AREWA on this - sentiments, emotions and hatred wont get Igbos anything. I am sure those outside the East will never sit at home. Go to Alaba and Idumota and see beehive of activities. Igbos in the East should wake up and face reality. IPOB have outlived their usefulness. Those supporting them are supporting them just to spite the government and other Nigerians, who do not care. I feel for the businesses suffering in the East and the high level of graduate unemployment. That's why they are trooping in their numbers to Lagos and other parts of Nigeria to seek for jobs. Very soon, commercial banks would stop their expansion in the East. I remember in the mid 2000s, SE used to be a place of interest for mostly new generation banks because of large amount of traders, controlling huge transactions. COT and other bank transactions charges were huge in the SE during the quarterly business segment performance reporting. In fact, Onitsha was topping the dash board chart on transaction charges per city.

SE have not seen any foreign direct investment in the past 10 years. The region is now classified as "fragile" and no sensible investors would commit his resources to a region that is prone to secession. I don't know why the leadership of Igbos have allowed uneducated traders to champion the cause of Biafra. Biafra was a child of necessity that birthed when it did in 1967, and was championed by intellectuals, technocrats, foreign sympathizer's and clergies, and not these people without any means of sustainable income, feeding fat on the ignorant of the people and cashing out big time from their nefarious activities. The herd mentality among the SE populace is becoming a source of concern.

And that's the truth. The rich will ask police to arrest someone and keep him in detention till he is satisfied. One girl like that had to stay in detention for 4 days because she called her landlord out to fix a problem in her house.

But that bad experience humble the lady. She couldn't believe she could stay in Nigeria detention centre for once. I felt for her as it was a traumatic experience for her. Rich men in Nigeria sabi oppress people.

My brother, fear houses wey dem dey build for East. Competition is too much. I was at the Federal housing estate layout at Onitsha recently and couldn't believe my eyes. Everywhere was full of intimidating massive structures with the ubiquitous king post high roofs.

Yet, we are struggling with our kobo kobo project here. Don't just try these traders. That's why they have made Amuwo Odofin area to look like another heap of concrete structures. I remember how that Amuwo Odofin was in mid 90s. Some people get money abeg.

Go to your local planning district office and make further enquiries. They’ll still visit the site. It’s best you take them there first before doing anything.

I’m not sure there’s any special requirement for telecommunication masts.

For the most part, the radios are always up the mast and are free from any obstruction.

Your house is very unlikely to be that high as to be caught in-between the waves.

Whatever will make your house that high will obstruct line of sight and the radio will have to be raised higher or outrightly decommissioned/relocated

I have to also say that most big hotels have the radios supplying internet service right on the roof of the building. Some of them even serve as base stations having multiple radios on the roof.

People work in these hotels for years and to the best of my knowledge have not reported any medical issues caused from having those radios right on their roof.

Please go ahead, you have nothing to be worried about
Thanks for the response. Our concern is getting the much needed building permit from those overzealous and ignorant Lagos state building control agency.
Do they give approval based on the documents submitted or will they still visit the site location?

Hello Sir, I personally wouldn’t do it if my intention is to use it as a residential location.

If for commercial usage then no worries.

Communication mast as well as high voltage power lines have been alleged to cause cancer in prolonged proximity.

Good luck Sir.

“ At this time, there’s no strong evidence that exposure to RF waves from cell phone towers causes any noticeable health effects. However, this does not mean that the RF waves from cell phone towers have been proven to be absolutely safe. Most expert organizations agree that more research is needed to help clarify this, especially for any possible long-term effects.”
Thank you. I have the same concern. But WHO, on their website, stated that having telecom mast close is of no harmful effect. My second concern is getting construction permit for buildings that are situated close to telecom mast. For NEPA high voltage power line, it is difficult but lots of houses have telecom masts in their compound. I appreciate your response. Thank you.
PropertiesRe: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Focusmind: 12:29pm On Oct 01, 2021
Gurus in the house! Please, is it ok to buy a land and build close to a telecommunication mast?

There is a small piece of land that I am interested in, located in a very choice area. The compound is about 2 plots owned by a retired Director in one of the government's ministry. He built his house at the left end of the land in the 90s and currently lives there as a pensioner.

He leased a portion of the right end to MTN to have their communication mast, which have been there now for more than 8 years.

I am in talks with the man to buy the middle of the compound, which is equivalent to half a plot.

My questions are: Will I get building approval to erect a building there? Are there challenges of having mast beside your building? There are buildings at the front and sides of the masts. The buildings have been there before the mast was erected.
