obadiah777: VERY SHORT SIGHTED POST. YOU CANT ESCAPE YOUR DESTINY. WHEN IT IS TIME TO GO, DOESNT MATTER IF YOU ARE IN SOWETO OR SWEDEN. WHATS THE POPULATION OF NIGERIA ? 180 MILLION. I AM PRETTY SURE THEY WERE ALL BORN IN NIGERIA ( MOSTLY ANYWAY ) AND THERE ARE 180 MILLION OF THEM WALKING AROUND AS LIVING PROOF AND TESTAMENT TO THE COMPETENCY OF OUR DOCTORS
I disagree, a lot of people die before their destined time and there's no doubt this lady is one of them.

Very unfortunate cry that's why I don't blame people who travel abroad to give birth, many hospitals in Nigeria do not have the facilities as well as the right doctors to safely perform a ceaserian section.

ngozievergreen: Guy, remove Lagos from the equation.

Again, i only responded to the guy dat way because he respected himself in his comments.

But really, Ibadan no try. Truth be told. Aside the public buildings, nothing else
Shut the fck up and go get a life! What really is your problem with Ibadan? You don't belong there so keep your bigoted opinion to yourself. If you're really concerned about others you can book the next flight to Egypt. Shio!

Rossikk: They also show a lack of aesthetic sense among the govt and people.

It really wouldn't hurt to re-roof those houses using modern materials as opposed to corrugated iron, in some sort of state-led program.

A dash of paint on the houses wouldn't go amiss either.
Why can't you people mind your own business? Have they re-roof all the houses in your own town with modern materials? What kind of people are less concerned about the beam in their eyes but spend all their energy criticising someone with a speck in his eyes?

geeez: But why is there a KFC outlet open in Ibadan and none in any city in the SE?

The GDP of Oyo State is higher than that of any state in the SE

The landmass of Oyo is almost as large as that of all the states in the SE combined

These are unarguable facts

And just in case you don't realize, businesses like Shoprite, KFC and even Mr. Biggs do intense business analysis before opening anywhere

If any state in the SE can't attract KFC at this time, it only shows that the disposable income in that region is extremely low
You hit the nail on the head, those who want to continue to foam in the mouth and bad mouthing Ibadan can continue, they are mere noise makers.

PoliticsRe: UK High Commissioner Explains The £3,000 Visa Bonds by funnyx(m): 8:26pm On Jun 27, 2013
coogar: that's america for you, an advanced 3rd world country. a man carried 143-pound tësticles for 5 years before he could be treated. that would not happen to anyone in the UK(legal or illegal) - law abiding citizen or a serial killer.

the stüpid medicaid in nevada couldn't cover it. the doctors had to do it for free before the man could be treated and yet that afam that wears atlanta-tinted glasses would still tell you life in america is better....a country that cannot provide free health is crap to me.

the difference between the US and nigeria is mosquitoes/electricity!
It is ridiculous to say the least, the US govt should be ashamed of themselves, they are able to spend several billions of $ on war mongering but couldn't look after their own in time of need.
People like Afam just want to belong at all cost, he is completely ignorant of what he argues about grin grin He may not even know that Scandinavian countries like Norway, Sweden, Denmark etc have far better standard of living than the US or even the UK.

By the way I have just finished watching a documentary about a 10 stone testicle man who was neglected and allowed to rot away by the American govt just because he has no money.
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/bodyshock/4od

This type of incident will never ever happen in the UK, each time I see things like this happening in the US coupled with several cases of hailing Americans who resort to crimes just to get treatment I cannot but laugh at ignorant folks who believes USA is eldorado, their heaven on earth. cheesy cheesy
See how your insulting the personality of Mr. President...
Can you talk to your dad like this?
Honour your Father and Mother, so your days may be long...

Don't let fallacies block ur sense of reasoning, be a constructive critic.
GEJ remains my mentor.

No apologies.
It is myopic, dumb and ridiculous to compare the president to your father. Your father is your father and not the president, if you hire a manager to manage your office will you regard to him as your father dumbo?
The job of a president is not an appointment by birth, those who feel competent enough applies for the job and if they are hired they should be ready to be criticised, abused and verbally battered. If your mentor cannot stand the heat tell him to get out of the kitchen.

People like you are always quick to attach yourself by force to people you deem successful just to belong otherwise who in their right senses will call someone he never met nor contribute anything personal to his life as his mentor? How does he mentor you? By teaching you the act of corruption, political bullying or cluelessness?
PoliticsRe: Google search on grammatical blunders -Patience Jonathan by funnyx(m): 7:20am On Jun 27, 2013
@OP do a google search on Yoruba, you'll also see a lot of unprintable and ridiculous statements about Yorubas posted on the Internet by fellow Nigerians. You can do a google search on other tribes and it won't take you long before you conclude that Yorubas are the most abused ethnic group in Nigeria courtesy of fellow Nigerians because google don't manufacture these links it merely direct you to the websites where they originate from.

Gbawe: You guys still wasting your time with the ultra-ignorant Afam4eva? When a considerable number of diasporans based in the UK are busy facing the responsibility of providing financial support for many back home in Nigeria, this joker is here telling us he feels sorry for Nigerians in Britain because of some deportee pals. Like someone said earlier, doubtful whether ignorant home-boy has ever stepped outside Nigeria anyway.
Dude just hate the UK and obviously obsessed with the US grin grin its not anyone fault if many people he knows were deported from the UK and fed him with several tales of their suffering.

Afam4eva: There are still loads of opportunities in the US and Canada for those who are disposed to using them. These countries are much more open for people to achieve the greatest heights of human endeavor. Australia is also not bad. The UK on the other hand is all bad news. They're still living on the past.
On what basis are you making your comparison? For your info, apart from British citizenship I also have a Canadian PR which I don't even use, I knew a lot of people who relocated to Canada but are now on their way back to the UK. So its not anyone's fault if those returnees of yours failed to see the opportunities abound in the UK so to each their own.
PoliticsRe: UK High Commissioner Explains The £3,000 Visa Bonds by funnyx(m): 5:11pm On Jun 26, 2013
Afam4eva: The same Afam4eva has seen American returnees who are hustlers, and illegal immigrants making it big in the US. It just goes to show that the UK is not a country of opportunities and the opportunities therein are limited to a select few. Mostly the British. That's why the UK is not the best destination for immigrants. The country is just as dead as third world countries in terms of opportunities. The only positive in that country is for people who want to school or visit. Other than that the UK is a 1st 3rd world country. I pity any NIgerian who lives there without anything tangible to show.
He he he grin grin go and pity yourself.

Imanuelle: bros, what do you understand by the term 'nip off in the 'bud'?

Jona has really done us proud, once in the UK flight issue(or something related, I can hardly remember), the south Africa deportations saga, and more.
The high commissioner is telling us what we already know and mind you many UK citizens are against this plan and its unlikely it will see the light of the day. The opposition within the UK against this plan is enough to choke it so this have nothing to do with Jonathan's diplomatic prowess.

Fear for wia? Rather its people like you that are quick to jump to conclusion, the scheme has not been fully developed and may still need to get parliamentary approval yet some Nigerians are already cursing the UK and threatening retaliation but many of you are quick to say that the UK is finished undecided I cannot but wonder why many Nigerians are so much concerned about this 'finished' country undecided

CultureRe: A Short History Of Yorubaland With Pictures by funnyx(m): 8:19am On Jun 22, 2013
Katsumoto: The Fulani did not over run any villages. The Fulani successfully held on to Ilorin but Oyo was sacked by Ilorin whose forces were made up of Solagberu's Yoruba Muslims from Oke Suna and Afonja's Yoruba armies mixed with Hausa slaves (Gobirawa). Ilorin could only sack oyo after Lanloke laid siege to oyo Ile. There were several powerful kings/chiefs who were no longer the influence of oyo and who were all suspicious of the others. Some of there were Adegun (Onikoyi), Atiba (who would be Alaafin after fall of oyo Ile), lanloke (Ogodo). Alaafin Amodo in wanting to increase his power sought an alliance with lanloke by giving his daughter to lanloke. Unfortunately, lanloke killed the Alaafin's daughter and fearing that he would be attacked decided to attack oyo ile first. He successfully laid seige to oyo ile and after oyo sucummbed to his siege, Ilorin walked in and destroyed oyo Ile.

But you are correct in that Ibadan defeated the Fulani at Oshogbo in 1840.
Katsumoto, thank you for your priceless contribution.

anonimi: That may not be entirely true.
War is bad no doubt but it also allows for a lot of inventions that are converted to regular, daily peaceful use after the war.
I imagine the internal strife of yoruba city-states led to people being forced into alliances and building city walls, organising armies, greater metal works, organising markets and securing them etc.
Do you know how much "internal strife" there was among European nations up until as recent as 1945, the end of WW2 huh
Would you say Europe is undone?

We should stop thinking in simplex mode and try to look at things from a very comprehensive perspective.
That's why I stated that its the major undoing of course there were other contributory factors.
CultureRe: A Short History Of Yorubaland With Pictures by funnyx(m): 4:49pm On Jun 21, 2013
cogitoErgo: my heart skipped a bit on reading d jihad part! Yorubaland was nearly overrun by those jihadists, had it been that Nupeland was strong like the Tiv people, the game would have been different.
Internal strife was the major undoing of the Yoruba kingdom then, it wasn't as if Fulani could have overun Yorubaland so easily but because of the division it was easy to conquer village by village. The table turned when the great warriors of ibadan intervened and sent fulani back.
