SportsRe: My Reasons Why Amodu Should Remain Super Eagles Coach by Gekko(m): 1:07am On Jan 29, 2010
Uche2nna:
So it took a loss to the STARLETS before u realized all this?  undecided
Most people that were appalled by Amodu's leadership raised the same issues (albeit in different manner and tone) but u labelled them as noise makers.

IMO, I dont need Amodu to lose a match before I realize that he is visionless. Amodu has no short term or long term for the SE. That alone is enough to give a coach the boot. The coach stated categorically that there are no players in the Nigerian league. What more do U need to ask him to leave?  undecided

Same thing is about to happen to the Indomitable lions. Le Guen submitted that the best players in Cameroon are playing outside of Cameroon. What a waste of dollars!!!!  angry Nope, the KNOWN players of Cameroon are outside Cameroon. However, the future Kameni's, Eto'o , Geremi's are all still playing in Cameroon. All U have to do is to dig deep and discover them.
seriously, we need a clean break from AMODU, this jackass is like poison to football.  He is too rigid and its even difficult to enjoy a win when he coaches.
He can't even accomplish the most fundamental task required from a football coach and that is to impart technical structure into his team.

I say we call up Samson Siasia and let him frame a new winning eleven that will compete in SA10.

naliakar:
Why all the fuss. this is not the world cup. We will do better in SA. Consider this a practice session and the SE coach was simply trying possible combination scenarios to choose from for the World Cup proper. I don't think he went into this game to win it otherwise the SE would have won--if that was his original intention. And you fellas cant even see his  foresight.
Rubbish!  practice or no practice, no one in their right mind would enter a tournament without intending to win, unless if you are loser, are you a loser?

Humanity/Humanitarian- with this political view there is no right, left or center, just active compassion for my neighbors. This is not a party for religious zealots, tribal junkies, extremist whores etc, rather its a party for enlightened souls.
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Zambia: Super Eagles Win On Penalties (Nations Cup) by Gekko(m): 4:14am On Jan 26, 2010
Tatase:
Yes we won etc etc. But the manner of the victory and in fact of all our performances in this Nation's Cup  was very disappointing. We basically SUCK! We more than SUCK! The only reason Zambia did not win is because they SUCK just as much as we do. They're equally bad, aimless, ambitionless in front of goal. And by the way, why should a team of our stature and football pedigree and World Cup qualification status struggle against Zambia whose biggest ambition was to make it past the group stagehuh Moreover, why should we have been so happy to beat common Benin Republic 1-0huh We've lost to the only serious challenge we've met (who by the way are not even going to the World Cup) and yet people here seem to be content. Why are we so very happy to accept mediocrityhuh

Quite frankly, we have not played well as a team in the longest time and particularly in this Nation's Cup. Why bring all these players struggling with fitness? Are these the only Nigerian players in the universehuh What about our youth teams (e.g. Nigeria 09 peeps) or our local league teams, why not bring a few attack-minded players from there? Why do we keep trotting out the same old cargo who can barely run (Yakubu, I mean you), barely complete a pass (I mean everybody), or who just come to be spectators (yes, Kanu, you!). Playing for the national team should be a privilege not a right, but it appears that some people's names are invariably on the list whether they're fit and in form or not.

As far as the Amodu debate. . . <sighs> He must go. Maybe the pressure is too much for him, I don't know. But I am convinced his lack of ambition and general mediocrity is rubbing off on the rest of the team. (I mean someone who was telling Nigerians in advance not to "expect too much" at Nations Cup  shocked shocked If we can't have high ambitions for Nation's Cup, is it World Cup, we should be ambitious abouthuh) But I don't think its an issue of foreign coach vs. local coach (which is what the discourse always turns into), it's an issue of coach with tactical and technical knowledge and leadership vs. one without. I like Eguavoen and Keshi and even SiaSia and would take them a million times over the "Nigerian Berty Vogts" (i.e. Amodu). I'm not too into the foreign coach mentality because quite frankly most of the foreign coaches we've attracted have been pretty much rubbish and besides, I'm not sure what the color of skin has to do with good football! Watching us play in this competition, it looks like there's no technical background, no plan, just a bunch of players on a field playing whatever they like at any given moment. We need a coach that is a technical advisor and/or a master tactician, who is also a strong character that can stand up to the NFF. We play like a team without a plan. Like the only time the players actually play together is on the actual match day at the match (as in it seems like there's no five-a-side in training or no tactical or technical work). I mean some of the team selections!!! You can just see the places where we're wretched and yet Amodu will sit down and just stare impassively at the field before making some absolutely random changes. I mean its amazing. It's like all our team is running on is luck and a prayer. There is nothing technical, nothing planned. It is so strange at this level.

However, what makes me the most unhappy about our manner of victory is that the team will have the audacity to pat itself on the back and think they've done a good job. There's nothing to be proud of in only managing to beat Zambia after penalties. I just wish someone could tell the team and the players that look, we thank God we made it, but we are not good and you are not doing well, you have two days to work and plan, get to it. But I'm sure they're all happy in the mediocre way we just think the end justifies the means. I'm not even saying oh we have to be excellent or even just good, or even just average, but please must we be so actively bad and below par and just plain painful to watchhuh The way we play, quite frankly there's no other way to describe it apart from AWFUL! The high point of the 120 minutes was that they eventually ended and ok the penalties after, but other than that. . . This strange passing game that we've decided to adopt when nobody in the team is a particularly good passer of the ball is ridiculous and makes us look even more foolish than our aimless play and general lack of ambition on the field. Even those that start of the matches enthusiastically (i.e. Osaze and maybe Mikel) soon give up because there's no point, the rest of the team either seems disinterested, hapless, or just plain lost. We have no sense of urgency and there's no passion and these are things that are needed urgently for any successful team.

Anyway (a quiet) congratulations to all us Super Eagles fans.
Spot on!! u spoke my mind.
PoliticsRe: Yar'adua's Mobile Ambulance Arrives by Gekko(m): 4:34pm On Jan 25, 2010
londoner:
If this story is true at all (I'm not sure it is), then my guess is that he is coming home to resign FORMALLY.

At the end of the day, the people have been stirring over his absence and PDP cannot afford to have such obvious chinks in the armour, otherwise people may get too ambitious and actually give the party a shock at the next election. If the story is true, then there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Yaradua is just a puppet for OBJ. Two months of no communication whatsoever with the people of Nigeria, even through a listing as a terrorist nation and a crisis erupting in Jos, yet mere days after OBJ asks him to resign, he is well enough to fly home, even though in an ambulance. Its clear whose really pulling the strings here.
I highly doubt yaradua is coming home to resign. as a matter fact, his homecoming will effectively empower Turai to rule Nigeria while pretending to be carrying out Yaraduas instructions.  Yaraduas return is most likely a diversionary tactic to remove all suspicions and render lawsuits against his office obsolete.

True story,  i moved to naija when i was 10 from U.S and use to hear so much of these myths but was never a believer.  Although, one day I plucked a Guava from a farm where the owner visibly placed some kind of charm to deter people like myself.  As soon as I got home and walked into my room about an hour later there was a snake lying right in the middle of the floor.  I was so terrified i ran and told my grandmother and she just casually kills the snake without battering an eye.  I wonder if it was pure coincidence or was it the charm

all of this one-sidedness is so unnecessary. instead of holding on to a brutal past we should be seeking ways to unite as brothers and sisters. if we remain towards this path we are just going to end up splitting Nigeria into bits and pieces.

We need to get our act together and even dare to unite the rest of West Africa.

Breaking away from Nigeria requires bold action from courageous leaders; Daniels, Akala, Ooni, are not the type of leaders to lead such a move. Even a courageous and well-meaning leader like Ojukwu was unable to free the Igbos from Nigeria. Having said that, the circumstances are different from the 60s. All in all, unless there are some credible leaders somewhere, the others are a bunch of jokers.
you can say that again, these men ran out of integrity credit long ago, if a breakup ever occurs they need to ship to exile.

GBAM!

You guys have spoken well. When he YAR A'DO NOTHING WAS HERE, all we hear is 7 pointless agenda, visionless 2020, ruse of law , due process. I do not only see a contemptous person but a daylight liar and corrupt ridden first Nigerian graduate President in 2010. He does not understand leadership or diplomacy at minimum assuming that was him.

He cannot address not only Nigerians but world leaders in the wake of Muttalab Terrorist threat that has led to 150million Nigerians being put on Terror lists all over the world when it was very clear that Muttalab is an abberation. He, again does not see fit to allow the VP to be acting President and CIC pending whenever he may complete his 'treatment'

I smell Hausa/Fulani political gameplaying. The man in my opinion is dead longtime ago certainly before the 25th December 2009 and our brothers up north are just trying to figure out how to retain the presidency. PDP is a fraud ridden party. There is now no independence in all our arms of government. It is very clear from these events. If an employee whatever the rank and position is medically unfi for 50 days and just want to keep everyone  waiting is simply unacceptable.

One day monkey will go market, one day surely he will not return. I think we need a complete overhaul in this country of our political syste and machinery.

YAR A'FOOL is making mockery of Nigerians. 'He came out to speak 1 day before the start of the worldwide demonstartion for 3 minutes to Hausa based Radio station, and only 1 minute in English' Mr YAR A'CLUELESS we are more smarter than you 1000 times.
Things fall apart the; center cannot hold. Perhaps this is when the cookie crumbles.

PS: I was priviledged to listen to the purported BBC interview of 'Yar'adua' and he said he would soon come back home to perform his duties. Am quite surprised to hear him speak like someone that has a sense of responsibility about the office he held. If for 1 day u were unable to come to work in a structured organisation for a few days you would have to communicate in writing or verbally to mgt (the people to whom u are accountable). Yaradua's 'i dont care' attitude and lack of respect for and an insult to140 million nigerians was evidenced in the callous manner he left his shop, the choice of medium that he chose to speak after keeping mum for 50days. Personally I dont think the man should have a job waiting for him if and or when he returns what do u guys think?
Yaradull is making a fool of Nigerian. its quite fascinating, that he remembers the super towards the end of his speech, im mean come on, if the current state of affairs is anything to go by, how insignificant is the Super eagles in the grand scheme of things?  After all the prayers, patience and consideration he has attracted from Nigerians, he couldn't even address the nation directly via nta, ait or any of the local media.  I wish he doesn't fill the vacuum he created.

I posted this simply because folks on this forum take much interest in tracking development in diff states in NGA.  We discuss the progress made by some states and the lack of in others.  I am based in NYC and have no connections whatsoever to politicians in NGA.  Judging by the pictures I was highly impressed by the rural transformation taking place in Jigawa.  You can see for yourself the well constructed roads, housing estates, hospitals, water projects, and schools all built within 2 years that he took over office with the 3rd lowest federal allocation from FG.
