New International Version (©1984) A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this. New Living Translation (©2007) "A woman must not put on men's clothing, and a man must not wear women's clothing. Anyone who does this is detestable in the sight of the LORD your God. English Standard Version (©2001) “A woman shall not wear a man’s garment, nor shall a man put on a woman’s cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD your God. Deuteronomy 22:5 That's the verse in different translations. What is your point ![]() |
I can't just understand where those who teach a Spirit filled Christian can be demonized and hence needs deliverance get such teaching from. Show me one Christian in the early church that became a Christ and Spirit filled and still was attending more than one deliverance session. You people should just stop insulting the finished work of Christ. May God help the church. |
New International Version Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said. - 1 Corinthians 14:29 The difference between prophecy and fulfillment is TIME. According to the time of life (specified in these prophesies), we shall look into the matter again. However, these looks heavy especially with DIRECT names calling involved. |
^^^ Thank you my sister. I hope to add more nuggets should this thread expand further. Otherwise, this will do the work of the ministration. You know one of the fruits of the Spirit of God is SELF-CONTROL. That involves a conscious use of your Holy Ghost permeated mind to engage in the thing of the Spirit. The Holy Ghost helps us to control SELF while we consciously yield to such help. |
@ Pastor Kun, I "suggest" you leave the name calling out of the matter. The OP has explained his reasons. I guess name calling will further raise controversies or generate further arguments and we should avoid that as much as we can. I believe we can disseminate the truth from here and it will spread with time. @ Zikky my beloved, That was a perfect scripture reference. |
eddy18: Jesus came to fulfill the law and abolish it (Ephesians 2:15). Tithes were not part of what was abolished because it came before the law of Moses came, in the days of Abraham.1. You're right sister, that tithe came before the law. What kind of tithe was that? Was it commanded to Abraham? The tithe practiced in churches today is not Abraham's kind of tithe. Churches only hide under the canopy of Abraham's tithe to teach tithe saying it was before the law BUT the tithe taught in church today is ACCORDING TO THE LAW - They have to quote Malachi to threaten God's people. That's tithe ACCORDING TO THE LAW. 2. Hebrews 7 discusses tithe (PRE-LAW, as in the case of Abraham) and tithe (ACCORDING to the law which was commanded). It puts an END to BOTH tithes, pre-law and according to the law. The simple truth is, tithe doesn't make anyone rich or richer. The case of "before the law" basis of tithe is destroyed with evidence that Abraham was rich before the account of tithe and we're not told he became rich by tithing. |
Following the stories of many things going on around us as Christians in the body of Christ and hearing odd stories especially on this forum, I've decided to call my Christian brothers and sisters to what I called, sanctified Holy Ghost thinking and/or reasoning - Don't mind me, that's just what I called it. Many of us Christian had been 'programmed' by many erroneous teachings that everything about the faith is 'spiritual' and hence we cannot use our senses or reasoning faculty anymore. Many Christians attend worship service and while they are at it, they loose their senses which is often called 'common sense'. Brothers and sister, there is a place for "faith" in believing God for something but there's also a place for reasoning and thinking the word of God. Now, I'm not referring to 'wisdom of this world' which is of this world but I'm referring to reasoning out the scriptures in our new birth or sanctified nature unto God. God isn't gonna do what we are suppose to do by ourselves. Today, I can't but express pain in my heart when I hear stories of how 'young' Christians are being manipulated because they've been programmed to believe they cannot use their brain and senses to reason for themselves the moment they believe in Christ as their Lord and Saviour. This is a wrong teaching as we see Apostle Paul 'reasoning' the scripture with the Jews. New International Version As his custom was, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures. - Acts 17:2 New International Version They arrived at Ephesus, where Paul left Priscilla and Aquila. He himself went into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews. - Acts 18:19 The word of God also teaches that, those who will handle the word of God skillfully unlike babes using milk of the word are those who will engage their (sanctified) senses to exercise discernment of good and evil. King James Version (KJV) Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. - Hebrews 5:11-14 Brothers and Sisters, the fact that we are Christians doesn't mean we loose our senses of reasoning or thinking the scriptures in our place(s) of worship and our personal lives. Finally, we must study and know the word of God in order to able to 'reason' the scriptures as seen in the case of Apostle Paul. Reasoning that is not scripture based is 'wisdom of this world' and will distort the truth. |
@ MostHigh, There's no specification as to which law was set aside or which ones were left. The entire ten commandments, sacrificial, ceremonial and civil law was all set aside and done away with. I can begin to show you scriptures that SPECIFICALLY CALLED THE TEN COMMANDMENTS THE OLD COVENANTS AND COMMANDMENTS. So, when you read in another scriptures that the law was set aside and abolished, it means ALL of it with non exception. |
@ OP, If this story is actually true. There'll come a time in the body of Christ that members will begin to challenge their pastors. How can a preacher openly tell members that, "giving(sowing) to your parents or siblings who will only tell you thank you is actually "sowing to the flesh" and that it doesn't carry heavenly blessings but that when you sow to your pastor, you get heavenly blessings". ![]() She even said giving to your parents doesn't carry HEAVENLY BLESSINGS. Seriously? This are preachers that makes the weak in faith to backslide and/or turn Atheists. I mean, what nonsense is this? You mean my parents raised me, trained me and only for me to grow up and turn my back at them to start bring "seed" to a pastor ONLY? Mehn, this is ridiculous! |

truthislight: The bible says that "drunkards will not inherit God's kingdom".Honestly, I've been following this topic from the sideline. The same thought I'd wanted to ask those who support alcohol you just asked above. How can someone be a "drunkard" without drinking alcohol Abi na water or soda dey make people drunk ni? |
@ MostHigh, How then do we interpret your statement with this verse? Expanded Bible (EXB) [ For] Christ ended [is the end/culmination/fulfillment of] the law so that everyone who believes in him may be right with God [have righteousness]. - Romans 10:4 MostHigh: Why are you misinterpreting the words of the master |
Omo Alata: I just can't give up nowYeah, I love the Mary-Mary sisters. Their song are inspirational. |
@ Joagbaje, Is this not the same thing I've been teaching and you sometimes disagree with me? The word of God is forever settled and we can't amend the truth. Well, pastor Chris is 100% right! |
enilove: Your thithe is meant to be taking to church. The church will not exist if there are no funds to manage it.^ I'm sorry, you statement is false in the light of the New Testament. Tithe had ENDED in the New Testament - there're plain scriptures that ended tithe in the New Testament. What the church is to be supported with is the free will giving of God's people. The church can exist without tithe in the New Testament. I know MANY churches here in the USA that don't take tithe from over 10,000 of the members. |
^^^ No need for link. The story already existed in another thread here before. It's not new story but lemme see if I can get the other thread to share the link. Here is the other thread: https://www.nairaland.com/1174008/why-maltreated-son-prophet-elikanah |
OLAADEGBU: The problem of you guys is that you find it difficult to submit to leadership. Simples.Who says we don't submit to leadership? Haven't you hear me often talk about my pastor here before? What other leadership do you still want me or us to submit to aside of worship gathering and that of the country I reside? You're jumping into imaginary conclusion my brother. Besides, denomination is dividing us too much in the body of Christ. We might disagree on doctrines and some teachings. That's fine and okay but doctrines shouldn't divide us. I expected you to address the article not to say things that doesn't exist. Love you bro. |
Today, among Christians, we often hear things such as my denomination owns the largest seated auditorium in the world. Some say theirs is the biggest single cathedral in the whole world. Another say theirs is the largest camp meeting of the millennium. Another say their MoG is the most anointed and powerful of all. Some say, their church is the best of all in the world. Some say, my church is the first in the world to have or start this/that. Some Christians won’t attend any Christian function when it’s not organized by their own denomination. All of these however are among followers of different denominations. As these problems get worse, Christian leaders by themselves also engage in the spirit of competition, jealousy, strife, quarrel and contention among themselves. One leader wants to own the best Christian university, the other wants to out-do the initiator of such particular project. One leader owns a limousine, the other wants to fly a private jet. One leader controls the biggest or largest crowd, the other wants to control twice as much. Some leaders or preachers will even teach their members not to marry another Christian brother or sister that worships in another denomination or attend Christian functions with another denomination. We see all over the body of Christ the spirit of competition, jealousy, strife, quarrel and contention with one another. Brothers and Sisters, such is not the Spirit of Christ. We are co-worker together and not co-competitors with one another. Let every man stand in the Grace and calling wherein Christ has given to us. The greatest cankerworms eating very deep into the body of Christ are division, strife, envying one another, jealousy of one another and quarrel. Our carnal nature has ruled for too long. It’s time; we must come to the unity of Spirit in Christ Jesus. The only cure is to move from being childish, put away childish character displayed among us as Christians and move unto maturity. We must recognize that our human leaders are only tools whereby our Lord builds His kingdom and we’re all co-workers together with Christ. God bless y'all. |
Kindly find the part 1 in this series HERE Today’s church is a reflection of the carnal nature of the Corinthian church. Apostle had to deal with many issues among the Corinthians. I remember the saying to an advert, "if a symptom persist after 2 or 3 days, you’ll need to see your doctor immediately". The symptoms and problems with today’s church started with the Corinthian church and not with the apostolic leaders but among the followers or members of the church. As we also look in the mirror of God’s word, we behold the image of today’s church with the symptoms and problems of the Corinthian church and yet, we failed to be cured by the great physician – Christ Jesus. One of the causes of these problems of jealousy, strife, envy and division among the followers of Christ is that; like many of us today, the Corinthian church only knew Jesus Christ but didn’t mature unto the things of the kingdom from knowing Jesus Christ as Christ Jesus. By knowing only Jesus Christ in the flesh is to allowed division (Luke 12:51) but those who mature unto knowing Christ Jesus are ever united and not in competition with one another (1 Corinthians 1:13). "Jesus Christ" is the only the childish foundation laid and is clarified as the manly thing to do in 1 Corinthians 3:11; for the childish thing to do is be divisional in “Christ Jesus” but the manly thing to do is put away division, strife, envy and jealousy. |
New Living Translation (NLT) Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you I couldn’t talk to you as I would to spiritual people. I had to talk as though you belonged to this world or as though you were infants in the Christian life. 2 I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger. And you still aren’t ready, 3 for you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn’t that prove you are controlled by your sinful nature? Aren’t you living like people of the world? 4 When one of you says, “I am a follower of Paul,” and another says, “I follow Apollos,” aren’t you acting just like people of the world? 5 After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. 6 I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. 7 It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. 8 The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. 9 For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building. 10 Because of God’s grace to me, I have laid the foundation like an expert builder. Now others are building on it. But whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ. 21 So don’t boast about following a particular human leader. For everything belongs to you 22 whether Paul or Apollos or Peter, or the world, or life and death, or the present and the future. Everything belongs to you. 1 Corinthians 3:1-11; 21-22 |
"Some Christians who do not understand the administrations in Scripture and who thus believe we should observe the Sabbath, etc., cite Matthew 5:17-19, where Jesus said that he had not come to abolish the Law but to fulfill it. First, to whom was he speaking? Jews. The Mosaic Law never did have anything to do with Christians. A key phrase in what Jesus said in Matthew 5:18 is that nothing would disappear from the Law “until everything is accomplished.” Jesus did accomplish everything he needed to relative to the Levitical Law, and that’s why it is no longer in effect. Today, we have no Temple, no Levites, no Aaronite priests, no animal sacrifices, etc. For both Jews and Gentiles, adhering to Romans 10:9 is the way to salvation. In closing, perhaps you are aware that a good number of Christians today are arguing about whether “the Sabbath” should be observed by believers meeting together on Saturday or Sunday. This needless conflict would evaporate if they understood that (a) the word “sabbath” means “rest,” and (b) neither day pertains to Christians as a special day, because for believers in the Administration of the Sacred Secret, every day is special. The argument is fruitless anyway because, based upon the consensus of Church historians, it cannot be definitely determined just when and why the early Church came to observe what we call “Sunday” (“the first day of the week”) as the day to gather together for fellowship, prayer, teaching, etc., rather than what we call “Saturday,” which was when Israel observed the Sabbath". Those who want to teach Christians to follow the Mosaic law by using Matthew 5:17-19. Since Christ already fulfilled the law, what then is the need to still adhere to the law? Everything already set aside. We were never under the law in the first place. Why tell us to obey the law of Moses? Every Christian MUST study the book of Romans and Hebrews to set themselves free and plug into the New Testament Grace. |

wiegraf: On the slavery issue, I get confused. Is there any strong condemnation of the act in the bible?I don't know what you and my brother musKeeto wants to hear. Are you guys not getting my gist? There're two definitions to slaves or kinds of slaves in the bible. Do we, Christians still fight physical war today? The slave in the Old Testament was a "Captive" Slave that existed by war captives. The NT slaves is "Subjective" by the will of a person to a master. In fact, the OT also taught that "captive" slaves should be treated fairly. |
Joagbaje: ^^^^^First, I believe you understand too well this is a public forum and there's a way or there should be a way we address issues like this. I won't have questioned you if your comment had stopped at this level below, Joagbaje: Why not get your own pastor to pray if you need a minister,...It is wrong for ministers to demand money for healing or for any ministerial work...But the moment you begin to distort your words with the things I edited from the above quote; you're presenting the Gospel in the way Christ never did. Second, you forgot that from the OP's statement, it was the MoG that demanded money by the reason of the so called danger he saw for the family. You must remember the faith of the young Christians are at stake if this kind of practices go on in the body of Christ. When the centurion came to Jesus having his servant sick, did Jesus tell him to bring or pay #100,000 before he could heal the servant? Where is the faith of the MoG himself? Must he go to the family physically? Can't he speak the word from where he resides? Must he go there and/to collect money? The story portrayed here revealed that the family is not that too financially strong and yet, you're telling them, "if you must get another man from another state to come with his so called team. You must bear responsibility for him and his crew. So you should organize a a vehicle for them and hotel to stay. And of course , give them a token of what you can afford. But it's proper to give ministers money in appreciation but make sure the money cover their expenses and extra" What kind of EXTRA are you talking about to a family that cannot even afford #100,000 in the first place? If you're getting this training of every man of God MUST be given something IN APPRECIATION to spiritual gifts in ministry, I think (from scriptures) you're spreading a Gospel MOTIVATED by necessity (of MoGs) and not out of love. |
ifeness: If you believe this story,do you believe the superman comic books too? Do you think spiderman is also real?I believed in the God that showed me redemptive plans. He had shown it in shadows and fulfilled the reality. What else you wanna hear? |

ifeness: How did you know? Any bible verse to back it up? Except you are the Bible god's private lawyer. And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. - Genesis 22:7-8 And concerning Christ, it was said, The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. - John 1:29 That's an imagery shown in that account. It's a shadow of God's redemptive plan for mankind. |
