Antiparticle: Plagiarism is dishonesty. It passes off another person's work as one's own.
If the OP had included the link s/he copied it from, it would have made a difference but not a big one. A large fraction of NL front page posts are copied from another website. Even when the source is acknowledged, the problem is that the content is stolen without authorization from the author. It's one thing for the OP to create a post that is inspired from another online source, it's another thing to just copy 100% of another person's writing and paste it on Nairaland. This is stealing.
It is stealing because it robs the website that was authorized to host the content from advertising revenue.
The biggest issue with chronic plagiarism is that it is a sign of intellectual laziness, an unwillingness to think and come up with one's own ideas and writing. A copycat mentality. This attitude spills into many facets of one's life, work, and society.
It befuddles me that a vast number of popular posts on NL are completely copied from other websites. I hope @Seun does something about this before he gets sued sometime in the future. An academic work that the source is acknowledged ceases being a plagiarized work Sir. I have no way of determining though whether a vast number of popular topics on NL are copied but if they are, it behooves the copier to acknowledge the source. An original intellectual owner can sue even on things we think are so minor |

Eagle has characteristics that stand it heads and shoulders above other birds and flying creatures. Just tie those qualities to the career search and expectation. Although it is easier to justify being an ant. |

Bt I believe that the effectual prayers of your parents or your partner paid off. It takes grace my dear NOT MERIT. APPRECIATE GOD Comprehension can't be so difficult. Please read and copy my last sentence. From my end it reads "but God has the final say though"...... Perfectly ok to rely on God but make no effort and let us see what he will bless. Even to the Jews leaving Egypt to Canan , they had to engage the original owners of the land in wars. It is their effort at invasion and conquering that God had to bless. We use the God factor and man know man to becloud any attempt at making efforts. |

Antiparticle: Plagiarized post. Here's the source: https://www.datsi.fi.upm.es/~frosal/docs/25mdq.html
Someone needs to do a study to see how many front page threads on NL are plagiarized from another website. Why did you not copy and post it yourself for the benefit of readers. You could then have cured it by acknowledging source and yet let people have the benefit of the knowledge. At OP, All those questions sound familiar. They also ask questions about your strongest point and your weakest point; why do you want to leave your present employment; will you be ready to relocate?, etc For those saying these questions do not make sense, how you perform with these questions gives you an edge over others. All my jobs, I mean ALL my jobs were applied for and got on merit. I never knew any one within the system. My career has spanned Legal Practice, Banking, Telecoms, Non Bank Financial Services.......(I am not trying to be immodest or proud here) Infact in my second Bank interview, I got angry when i saw my name listed as number 19 on the waiting list, i had letter a of offer in another telecom company, i just left the bank premises and went to collect my letter in the other company. Next day i traveled and my phones were not reachable for a while, i later received text messages reminding me of the interview, i negotiated a new date, attended the interview, met with 2 HR bosses, my direct boss, one ED and waited till around 9pm to see the MD. The next day i got a congratulatory text message, the only challenge i then had was which job to accept. The Telco paid higher but the bank appeared to have stronger propensity for career longevity. I opted for the Bank and it paid off. Reason for my story? jobs are still gotten on merit without envelopes or who you know. A beautiful CV is the first step. How you perform at it the interview is a great help. God has the final say though. |

Different shades of reasons justifying the level of discipline. Beating the girl, well, that is ok. Allowing the image to go to the public space, rather silly. The internet never forgets. My dad used to tell us when we were getting admitted through JAMB to go out there and explore the world, make mistakes and learn from them but note that some mistakes are irreversible, so think before you do. That guiding principle continues to guide us. Will this girl ever grow up to aspire to become a political figure? doubtful. Several inhibitions will follow her all the way, even the local stigma will trail her and like someone said elsewhere, if she has the traits, you can't rule out suicide.
Have we ever wondered why children and young people are not tried in open court? Have we wondered why reported ra.pe cases are few? Food for thought for the father disciplinarian and others who are beating their chest.
I am a good example of a bad child from strict and very religious and serious disciplining parents....
They did their best, but i chose my part. The father in this matter under reference could have done his part but then the girl had her own ideas.
To each his own. |

Romance › Re: Should A Lady Spend On A Guy She's Dating?. by hardbody: 11:27pm On Jul 27, 2016 |
Benita27: Never develop the habit of spending on a guy you're dating, there's no harm in helping them when they're in need, What real men want is a faithful lady, not one that spends on them.
To some spending on them reduces their self worth, even in marriages when a lady is the bread winner of the family, the men are not so happy, so why should your boyfriend be happy when you're the one doing virtually everything for him?, when such a relationship crashes, he has nothing to lose but you.
Imagine if all you do is:pay his school fees, pay rents, cook for him with your money whenever you visit, change his wardrobe, when there's no guarantee he will even marry you, neither are you his sugar mummy, is he handicap?. He will take all these and still cheat on you, and dump you when the need arise.
We ladies are naturally emotional, while the male counterparts are naturally logical, when he dumps you suicide is inevitable, he's likely to move on sooner that you.
He asked you out, you didn't ask him, why should you two go on a date, and you're the one buying everything, while he's collecting?.
Spending on a guy is not healthy, even your parents will frown at it.
Expecting the ladies you date to spend on you is like patronising a prostitute and asking her to pay you.
We're not in India where women marry men. Most silly post I have come across in recent times. Truth be told, no sane man will want to live off a woman if he can fend for her, but to have a mentality that it is ONLY the man that has a duty and obligation to give you is to say the least silly and greedy. What gives the woman a better right to always receive? you receive gifts, you receive fvuck, you receive compliments, you just receive but if the guy has any challenge, you remind him it is his business to provide. God is faithful, HE will never lead me to your type. Babes who know that to give and receive is reciprocal are getting the best guys and having the fun of their lives living happily, stay there and be concocting stories from kids below 12. What am i even saying, i might be responding to a teenager yet to know what the world has on offer. Sorry |
Romance › Re: When A Lady Claims To Be A Virgin. by hardbody: 7:57pm On Jul 27, 2016 |
Toks2008: It is no longer news that being a virgin is the pride of a woman and while those who have lost theirs take fate, we also have some who waste no time to announce to anyone who cares that they are still virgins.
Nevertheless there is one question that always crosses my mind and and I keep asking myself; "What is the true definition of a virgin lady"
Many ladies claim to be virgins but have been involved in several relationships where guys have really ransacked their bodies.
Some ladies have taken part in oral with guys and even worse enough some "virgins" are so deep in self servicing yet they still claim to be virgins even when the hymen is gone.
Its so funny that some ladies now categorize virgins as primary, secondary and even tertiary not forgetting the fact that some ladies do anal while keeping the hymen intact yet claim to still be a virgin.
I really want to know what it means for a lady to be a virgin because it has become so confusing....so nairalanders biko tell me what you think. A virgin is a guy or lady that thinks she is one. Read up the definition of jump in Michael west dictionary, it defines to jump as an act of jumping. But seriously what is it about virginity that we make such a big deal of it, when last i checked, you don't draw a cheque on it and worse still, the said virgin may turn out a log of wood when the chips are down, that status guarantees nothing. Give me a decently experienced lady anytime. But that is me ooo. We don't have to be aligned in thoughts. |

queenfav: Biko read your law well.Provocation would have been a good defence where she found him in bed with another woman, and picked the first weapon close by that was used to kill the husband. The moment a person is assumed to have had tome to cool off and think about his/her next actions,it becomes premeditated murder. It was just a text for heaven's sake! And she even went ahead to set him ablaze after stabbing him.Her actions were carried out with a clear intent to kill. She had a bad case from the word go,no lawyer would have gotten her off.Besides actions cannot be reasonably said to be an equal and justified reaction to whatever the deceased husband allegedly did.The evidence was just too overwhelming to attract a lesser penalty. Brilliant girl. |

What happened to the defence of provocation to reduce section 221 to section 224 of penal code and the case of R vs Doughty (1986). Or reduce 305 to 303 criminal code(as applicable here) Provocation? Are you a learner? You cannot sustain the defence of provocation if it can be proved that you did not act on the spur of the moment and that you had time to cool off. She stabs the man first, then gets fuel and doused him, then gets matches and lights him up and you say provocation? There is a chain of activities and not just a one off. It might just be that her exit is blessing in disguise. When my elder bro married and my dad was having a convo with him and the wife, i recall him telling them that a good wife brings blessings to the family and i have seen this in their life, but where a lady wants out, let her go. divinehand2003: Tompolo is the cause of his family's mishaps.
If you claim you are innocent, why can't you surface in Nigeria to answer your case instead of remaining in hiding until Buhari leaves office? You may be right but i am strongly opposed to visiting the wrongs of an adult on another person. The law does not make provision for arresting , detaining or even brutalizing a father or mother for the supposed crime of the child. The mofos should get their acts together and sniff out the suspect. US zeroed in on Osama rather than looking for his relatives. For all you know, the father may not know where Tompolo is and probably never really supported him. It's just unfair to do any harm to an 84 years old man. This is why I feel no pain when pictures are put up telling us about the death of a young captain etc who was killed by BH. I tend to see nemesis at work. If you support what is claimed to have happened, may yours of same age be brutalised for something they know nothing about nor can stop from happening. |

AutoJoshNG: 2016 BMW 750i Xdrive. This N58 Million On Wheels Was Spotted In Lagos.
This 2016 BMW 750i xDrive was spotted on the streets of Lagos and I am sure many of us will be wondering why anyone should pay such humongous amount for a car that depreciates faster than the stock market crash of 2008. Despite the downsides, we would agree that this is one German Machine that is worth every penny after reviewing its features and specifications…
This Bimmer comes with a 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V-8 engine which produces 445-horsepower propelling this class leader from 0 to 100 kph in 4.3 seconds with smooth shifts from its 8-speed transmission that has both automatic and Manual shift modes. With a fuel tank capacity of 20.6 gallons (78 litre), it consumes an average of 19 mpg.
Other features and specifications include:
1) Standard WiFi hotspot: We are not even done with having Wifi in our homes and some people are already enjoying it in their cars. This mean you can complete your office task on your laptop while cruising at 120 kilometres per hour from Lagos to Abuja.
2) Massaging Seats: No more Thai or Indonesian massage at Four Point by Sheraton as your car gives you all that treat.
3) Display Key: It is amazing that a car key has more features than some mobile phones. These features ranges from checking the fuel level and controlling all the vehicle windows to checking the complete status of the car which includes the next routine service date.
4) Leg Rest for the rear passengers: This enables you rest your legs on the back of the front seat making you feel at home as all the road bumps are neutralized by the double tube shock absorbers.
5) Carbon Core Construction: The 7 series is built with a carbon core which is Stronger than steel yet 50% lighter, thereby increasing its durability and efficiency, whilst achieving reduced weight.
6) Wireless charging (Qi charging): This eliminates wires and distractions when connecting your phones to the car charger manually. This wireless charging system is also used to charge the car keys.
7) Full-Color Head-up Display: Several information about the 7 Series is displayed on the windscreen in order to prevent the driver from taking his eyes off the road.
Engine Stop/Start: Don’t go opening your car bonnet and disconnecting the engine cables if your car engine goes off when you come to a complete stop at a junction. This feature turns of the engine temporarily to reduce fuel consumption and emission.
9) Rear-Seat Entertainment: It comes with a 7″ Touch Command Tablet that enable you to control several functions from the back seat without asking and distracting the driver.
10)iDrive 5.0: This screen which is located in front of the driver uses gesture control, which means you can operate it with your body movement without actually touching it.
Tell us if you will buy or ditch this car and why…

Their negligence and incompetence killed my cousin. I should hate to remember what i want to forget. My cousin was that sick and your guys were doing trial and error. When my cousin was flown out, he was taken straight from the airport to the hospital, alas, the drugs that were prescribed for him in larger doses were the same drugs i googled for him, but then it had become too late.
