Printing per page at N200 is exorbitant. I guess it must've been the location you went to. Island, perhaps?
In mainland Lagos, some people print N100, some N50. I'm places like Yabatech or Unilag, it's usually N20 or N30. If you want to print voluminous pages, it's better to go to tertiary institutions. |

real777: I laughed when some children on nairaland are blaming this on short dating. Dating when most of una don turn to ashewo affair. Bleep and Bleep till una breakup? When I see a lady today that we both spiritually and physically connect, 7 days of waiting too far sef except for financial excuses. We don marry sharp sharp. Spiritual blindness, indiscipline and fornication here and there is why you keep testing all ladies out there yet you are as confused as before in knowing which is the "one" for you. When a man or woman sees their life partner, you will know. You will never know a person unless reveal to you by a supernatural Force or Power. All these so called dating for 1,2,5,10,20 years are all fruitless guess work to know the past or character of your partner
The young girl in this news didn't deserve this mad man if she has done her due diligence spiritually. Let the mad beast also pay the price for his crime This is deep and instructive at the same time. |

Being a Yoruba, and with all this news from SE, What's the preventive measure I should take because the wedding appear to be necessary for me to appear. People are coming in and out of Anambra every minute from short and long-distance travels. There's no such thing as "being a Yoruba" because there's no tribal war going on. Therefore that statement is unnecessary. That said, if you want to come, come. Nothing's going to happen to you. Let God guide and protect you. |

Funny enough the politicians are happy and benefiting from the tribal hatred, disunity and religious sentiments, part of the reason NLC and other groups that are supposed to put the government in check are now toothless It's a shame. |

I just felt we have a long way to go because there was no single spectator apart from those that came with the team or those that had business in the stadium. The grasses were brown because no one is ensuring that they're watered. We really have a long way to go. |

CioAngels: Unfortunately the bishops actions against the priest was too swift without first doing underground check why he did what he did. Was there check to ask if other tribes made a complain about such activities that they also be noticed of becoming of the Igbos. The indefinite suspension was too hesitatened and heavy. Dear, he was given a suspension and not a dismissal or an expulsion/ex-communication. While it is true that we see and interpret things differently, but come'on! Are you Catholic? This is an ordained Catholic Priest we're talking about. He is like a Pastor, who spent more years than a Pastor to get to where he is. A careless statement can incite violence and killings, a careless statement can get you arrested and questioned. But when you make such a statement in church, what exactly are you expecting? To do an underground check while still officiating a mass the next day or the next week? In the same church? Are you that serious? He was suspended, and during the suspension, investigations will be made. Eventually, if the heads of the church are satisfied, he'll come back and do the work of God. It is possible that you're not Igbo. I am. But it is important that we look at that situation squarely as a human being, as a Christian, and as someone who lives in a volatile country like Nigeria, where far little things have cost people their lives and destroyed property. But that's not even my main worry. My main worry is how he has lost sight of the Word. I am struggling as a Christian so the Word of the Lord can dwell in me so it will guide my thoughts, my words, my actions, etc. I am struggling. I want it to be ever-enduring because the devil is prowling around trying to force it away from me because he knows my Christian foundation is somewhat shaky. How much more an ordained Priest? |

omoyankee3: What fascinates me is that the discovery tells tragic story and how events in our lives are all interconnected:
A french man with seven children migrated to the US with four of his children. His wife and the other three children drowned in the Atlantic ocean while trying to join him in US. He and his remaining children were deported back to France four months later. His eldest son fought and died in an European war.
- If he didn't migrate to US, his family wouldn't have died while trying to join him.
- If his wife and children didn't die in the titanic, immigration wouldn't have known he was illegal and wouldn't have deported him.
-If he wasn't deported, his eldest son wouldn't have fought and died in WW1 Deep. |

mapet: I am careful not to base by judgment of the situation of a potentially skewed reportage of the media....
Even though the beauty of worship is seen in our local dialects... but reversal of it is despicable and in bad taste. Some churches being mere association of ethic collectives and village meetings rather than true house of God. Positions and service functions ends up becoming guided by ethnicity and the place of God is relegated.... trust me such churches become spiritually stagnant...
I am an Anglican. I lived in Ikorodu till 2010. I remember when our church newly started... the then Bishop Adebiyi had cases of churches some churches with ethinic-laced challenges which was affecting its growth. He came up with creative solution - All churches stated from year 2000 upwards will conduct services in English and not any Nigerian language. Prayers and songs could be sung in any language....
My Church St. Paul's Owutu grew fast, we had a well blended congregation and we were more like family. Any time I visit Ikorodu and the church, I feel at home with people of all races, peoples, ethnicity and colours. This is what Jesus wants...
I want to give the Revd. Father a benefit of doubt that this is a typical problem he was trying to solve...
PS: If this was the "offense" does it warrant suspension? or is there something else? Interesting. I lived in Owutu myself in the late 90s to early 00s. Was living close to Inglewood. Don't know if you know the school. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Catholic Church Suspends Rev James Anelu For Banning Igbo Songs In Parish by Hausa(m): 5:23pm On Feb 08, 2022 |
flokii: The official language in Nigeria is English to start with.. you can't force other tribes to learn Igbo or speak Igbo. It must strictly be by choice.
I understand a lil. bit of Igbo myself cos I attended Igbo classes in high school, just that I didn't write in WAEC. When I'm in a gathering and I see people from other tribes there, I switch tongue to English so noone will feel left behind or aggrieved and when I'm with my tribe guys, it's sweet Yoruba all day long.
The priest should have instructed the choir to do English to carry everyone in the church along but I guess we all have different approach to doing things. It is your first post that gave me concern: You said, "That's because some people don't respect boundaries or respect their hosts... How will you go to a church where the priest is not Igbo, doesn't speak or understand the language and start singing chorus in it. What happened to English or the local language in the area which is Yoruba? I'm sure the non-Igbos there met with the priest to express their displeasure over the turn of events in the church which prompted that statement credited to him. For God sake, people should respect boundaries and respect their hosts." Your post above was my issue and not your eventual response to mine. You mentioned boundaries. Boundaries to God or to man? I asked you what you'd have done if you were the priest and you haven't answered it. You also did not acknowledge that it was a screw up from the priest. There's something called the Laity in the Catholic Church. That's where the issue would've been discussed if congregants felt the one-sided songs was becoming a problem. Come'on! What is wrong is wrong!!! |
