Debt in itself is not a big deal if it is being used for the purpose it was taken, Fashola is building the Marina -------> Okoko axis, do people think he is using sand? Meanwhile, our FG will be borrowing 2.1trillion naira for 2011 budget and most of it will go into recurrent expenses, abeg let the Yoruba, ACN, Tinubu and Fashola haters go and find something better to do. |
ekt Do not mind ndu and Dede1, the man says he is not an American citizen, they are making noise, I am a Nigerian and Canada PR and I have got a SIN (Social Insurance Number), does that make me a citizen, Akala should just prepare jejeli for prison. The Nigerian constitution allows dual citizenship, USA allows dual citizenship, the supreme court has settled the case, why are they stressing now. Ndu chucks you are falling my hand seriously o, you used to be objective but now u don change, abeg change again to the old ndu_chucks. |
Ezeuche says the guy is temperamental, he is more than that, he is a killer, one of the guys running against him had his wife kidnapped and violated by his boys, that man is seriously mental I tell you. |
Ezeuche, I was in Akwa Ibom for a wedding very recently and the developments there can not be compared in any way to what is happening in Surulere talkless of the whole of Lagos, please do not swallow the propaganda, the former governor did far more than this Akpabio of a guy, always verify your facts first. |
Eziachi may your days be long, you have always spoken for justice, please do not waste your time on these people, they will soon know that they are reaping the whirlwind, their messiah GEJ says he can not reduce the number of ministers, what of SA, SSA and Special Advisers? |
Alpha Beta does not take up to 25% of the tax earned, they take between 10 and 20 and that is dependent on their performance, I believe their job is not to collect the tax, it is to grow the tax by identifying people who are outside the tax net, they also helped computerise LASG activities. |
Private universities should not have recourse to public funding, public schools need the money, they ( private universities) should approach their rich patron for sponsorship, if ur papa is contributing to ETF, then attend public school shikena. |
Nigerians and their religious delusions. |
@leo Dont throw away your Gen yet, you will need to charge the batteries, by the way that cost will give you a 1KVA inverter (American) with three 12V batteries, that one can not last long ooooooooooo, with what you wrote up there, you need a 5KVA Xantrex inverter with up 8 batteries and an external charger (say up to 100A charging), let me do small calculations for you. Let us say you have a 5KVA Xantrex inverter with 8 24V batteries rated at 200AH, at full load (when you are using the full 5KVA), the batteries will discharge in 7.68 Hours, the formula is load divided by battery voltage multiplied by total AH (8 batteries gives 1600AH), now you will need a charger that can charge those batteries quickly (a 200A charger will take 8 hours to fully charge them), so, for eight hours, you are charging your batteries (imagine running 5 1HP ACs for 8 hours straight), of course all of the calculations above guarantees 24hours (8 hours to discharge, 8 hours charging, 8 hours to discharge again), what this means is you will need to run your Gen for at most 8 hours a day, if you have NEPA for 8 hours, you will not need to run the Gen but your NEPA bill will be something else. |
@manny Lagos state pays compensation wella, the road and track are passing through commercial centers that have high real estate costs, I believe there is a dedicated power plant as well, is the cost of the road infrastructure part of the 1.2billion dollars? Fashola is probaly 40 - 50% efficient because of the corruption in the country, the FG (una Jona) was going to spend $500M on a runway in Abuja or PH, the Lagos Ibadan expressway concession is about 2 to 3 times that of Lekki per kilometer (the guy nefa do anything on that road). |
@ekt_bear The ISPs connect via fiber cables to major service providers who have fibers running all the way to Europe, the challenge is in the distribution medium. The failure of Nitel also has repercussions for data services, we do not have cable in the ground, all of our service providers prefer going wireless as it is easier to setup, if you look at our phone service, everybody calls on mobile, that is not meant to be the case, the mobile is meant to be used when you are transiting say between work and home or on the move, what we have is the mobile being the primary means of communication, now we know that mobile technology is playing catch up with cable, also it is a shared medium and as I always say the real estate of a mobile firm is its frequency which is in short supply and is narrow (typically 5Mhz), I believe the best modulation techniques will give you roughly 4 times of that, now that is what is shared in a sector and companies do not usually have more than 3 of these 5Mhz spectrum ( dont try NCC charges for frequency spectrum, na die), so, maximum you can have 60Mbps at a cell site, now imagine that cell site having 300 subscribers with say 25% working concurrently and the 60Mbps is shared among them, so, even before you get to the transmission point, the distribution side is messed up as people are contending for bandwidth on a cell site close to them, building more cell sites is out of the way as it is expensive. The other challenge is what is priority for these mobile firms, for MTN, voice is number one, your MTN Data service is probably priority 3, infact when they did a capacity swap with MainOne, they placed mainone on priority 3 which was a best effort service (mainone people hala them no be small). The solution is to deploy more cell stations running wimax, but the dream of FTTH or even copper to the home is far far away as nobody is ready to build cable plants because of right of way issue, how localised cabling is and the bad belle that leads to cable cutting (those phone companies dey cut each other fiber oooo, serious bad belle), so, we are left at the mercy of the developed nations to find faster means wireless communications for us. We also need to peer these major ISPs, imagine me sending a mail to my wife sitting beside me, if I am using swift and she is using MTN, the packets go out to london and back before gets the mail, that increase cost and congests the network. These are all technical details, now imagine the administrative and political issues militating against broadband access in Nigeria Abeg hand dey pain me, I no dey write this much. |
Swift is not bad, but all these services are not true broadband, the way it works with some of these ISPs is their speed fluctuates, their browsing speed decreases with the growth of client base. The reasons for not having broadband access are many, one is lack of cable infrastructure (DSL), wireless is still a shared medium that has not caught up with cable, another one is we mostly access everything outside the shores of the country, yahoo outside, gmail outside, msn outside, even nairaland sef. The ISPs have also not peered, if you are on MTN and I am on swift, our packets are routed outside the shores of the country before they come back, we need to keep local traffic local. I use Swift at home and it is good as per naija level, when I went to Canada, I had 10mbps at home, ol boy, some ISPs dont have that much. |
She has the right to challenge and should challenge in court, I believe after the court case, Ngige's margin will even increase. |
I am the internet access space, the prices are crazy o and the services are crappy, but wetin man go do. Internet access will not be fast until our ISPs peer and services are local, as it is now, all the popular sites are hosted outside. |
@paddy There is nothing fast about starcomms service o, u are probably on 2.5G service. |
See the Sanusi haters coming out of the woodwork. |
Jesus has spoken, c'est finis. We need you to speak more, especially to your so called Men of God. |
@debo The money used to pay legislooters comes from the federal purse, the money for the subsidy comes from the federal purse, you can have more money for infrastructural development by either removing the subsidies or reducing your expenditure, reducing public office holders salaries will make more money available for capital expenditure. Abacha had a man like Buhari to head the PTF, do you think PDP will allow anybody to do what Buhari did? We need a competent government first, a government we can trust, one that we know is looking after our interests, we do not see this in the GEJ led government, he needs to prove us wrong. |
@debo You dey disturb my CR clips but its all good, the objective is to have more money to spend on infrastructure or on the people, whether we get it from subsidy removal or we get it from savings on salaries, it is the same thing, we are business minded people in Nigeria, more money in the hands of the people leads to better economic activity, we need the wealth to be spread round not held by a few people who do not have our interests at heart. Removal of subsidies will not lead to local refining of crude, our leaders are too lazy to take the difficult decisions that need to be taken, they do not like rocking the boat. |
debosky It is not a feeling, it is what we know, the savings on subsidy can be got from the salaries of our legislooters, do you know how much is spent to run the presidency? We are wasting money on stuff that are not relevant and someone is asking for subsidy removal? Let them first reduce their salaries by 90%, we are a poor country that can not afford to pay the armed robber salaries we are paying our leaders, our economy is 3% that of the US, yet we pay our Senate President up to 4 times the salary of the POTUS, haba. The salary of the Senate President will pay over 50,000 the minimum wage every year, imagine that amount in the hands of 50,000 people in Benue where he comes from, the economy of that state will be uplifted, no to subsidy removal. |
@blacksta Why you dey mention my name now? I beg for Jonathan everything is herculean ooooooooo. |
Our software engineers need to start writing codecs and the like that they can license, I believe we need to leave all these entry level coding and go deeper into systems programming. Can we get someone to write an implementation of the spanning tree protocol in C? |
The last time someone tried to kill GEJ, it was his brothers down south, he should go after them and leave the Northerners alone. |
See PDP magic, I am sure the GEJ apologists are quaking in their boots. |
@Katsumoto Until we get a government that is at least competent in the key areas, nothing good will happen, our government is reactionary, is it the common man that is smuggling the fuel, do they use Jerry Cans for the smuggling? Why do we have the Customs and Excise department, abeg their apologists should tell us something else, our wahala is that our leadeers do not take decisions that dont favour them, imagine the senate passing a law that will benefit a few individuals. Let GEJ try to remove the subsidy, he will hear wen. |
@owo The answers to all your questions are in the article written by Sanusi on Buhari, ask Jarus for those articles, read them with an open mind then go to a corner and weep for your nation Nigeria, you had a chance to elect two honest men, you went for rogues, please do not complain that PDP is not performing ooooooooooo. |
@johnie The reason most people are not concerned about the LG is because the FG has 55% of the total money made by the country, what is left for the LGs is too small after the states have deducted their own and the chairman has whacked some, the LGs are just employers that is all, they do no serve any meaningful purpose, the only time that LGs will be effective is when we have true federalism. |
I have always pushed for a more efficient government who can regulate and also play a part in the economy while everyone has been shouting privatisation, we need to sort our government out before we ask for progress, unfortunately, we are stuck with the same set of people for another four years. I checked my electricity bill last month and it was 6K, I only got on average 6hours of power per day, now when they increase it by a factor of 4 later this month, I will be paying 24K for 6 hours, what happens when it is privatised? We had the best opportunity to vote out these thieves but people voted along ethnic lines, we are in for a very very rough ride. |
Another GEJ apologist with a new ID, abeg clearout from here, instead of asking your elected leaders why they failed to protect innocent civilians you are here asking foolish questions. |
We will soon find out. |
T9, you just admitted that you did not vote, so you rejected all the candidates, anyway, Buhari has gone to court, let us wait for the results of the forensics, if he Jonathan won fair and square no problems, it is not his father's property. I am just amazed at how people will come online to bash someone without any fact to back it up, no wahala sha whatever makes you guys happy, have a nice weekend. |
T9, can you explain how Buhari is ready to make the whole nation implode? Please note that I am a Buhari supporter. |
