MTN is going down. Most people have have migrated out of the network. People no longer recharge their MTN lines and only use the lines to receive calls. GLO, AIRTEl, and ETISALAT are offering their customers freebies but not MTN rather they only insul.t your intelligence. Ever since i acquired an etisalat line , i have been happy. I even feel happy recharging my etisalat line because i get 15mb free weekly, 10 free sms daily to etisalat lines, 10 free mms weekly to etisalat lines, make 20k/s calls to all networks and get 30% of my total monthly recharge given back to me to call all networks at thesame 20k/s. i just recieved N1,770 free from etisalat. Now tell me why i should be dashing my money to MTN. is it charm? Tell me why i should be making MTN to MTN calls at N30 per minute Please leave MTN alone, no one is forcing you to remain on the network. If they rip you of your money its your fault, you chose them and they will always remind you with ''thank you for choosing MTN''. |
We have lots of naive people on this forum. People just open their mouths and talk without thinking. OBJ did the right thing whether you subscribe to it or not. ObJ cannot visit BOKO HARAM without explicit clearance and permission from the presidency. OBJ is not just an ordinary citizen. Aside being at the healm of affairs in Nigeria twice, he's also a member of State Council. So whatever he does has implication on the Nigerian system. Do not be fooled to believing that OBJ went to beg anybody. (You and I know that OBJ is not known for that). He went there to spell some terms to them diplomatically though. Believe it or not, some top BOKO HARAM guys were at the meeting and believe it or not you do not know what images of faces OBJ was able to catch. The next line of action from the presidency will take everyone by surprise but surely. The fact that OBJ is now involved in this should send some warning tones to the leadership and sponsors of boko haram. Whatever OBJ gets involved in has vendetta written over it. Lets hope that the likes of IBB and Atiku are not involved with the boko harams. All the visit by OBJ is to establish a fact in the nigerian mind that ''Nigeria has used all forms of diplomacy to curb the boko haram issue and that has failed hence the use of this magnitude of force.'' Finally lets stop all these talks about Nigeria not negotiating with terrorist. What has your not negotiating achieved than more and more bombs. America negotiates with terrorists but not from a position of weakness but strength ( and diplomatically that is not called negotiation but simply spelling the terms). And thats what OBJ is initiating. Pls lets give it up for OBJ, he's doing what the likes of SHAGARI, IBB, BUHARI, ABDULSALAM etc should have done with he fact that he is not a northerner and not even a Muslim. |
hollandis:This shows how much regard you have for your father i.e if you were told you have one. The man is old enough to be your grand father. What kind of generation do we have today? Shame on you Hollandis. . . |
Guys, all these gimmicks are always generated by sales representatives of GSM companies in order to meet their targets in 'bad months'. There are some they send telling you of people that were blessed by forwarding to 10 people and people that died who deleted and didnt forward the text. if you look at such texts some are up to 5 texts in 1. Imagine sending 5 paged text to 10 people. Minimum you will spend is N500. Because nigerians are vulnerable, people now resort to loading their phones to obey. For the socalled killer numbers, it is always started by the sales representatives of the older GSM companies in Nigeria. They know that being the older companies most of the numbers people have are from their network and they know that people will end up not picking numbers they do not have stored on their phones. Hence new entrants into the market may have issues because people will now be forced to resort to using their old numbers to call which will favour the older networks, i suspect that this new case of killer numbers is started by MTN. This is because Etisalat and Glo have taken most of their customers. of course people are buying etisalat and glo so well these days. Coincidentally people that informed me today of the killer numbers are all MTN staff. |

Thank God i have been delivered from MTN. I usually subscribe for the monthly mobile 100mb at N1000. My megabytes were exhausted one day and i had to do an emergency subscription for 10mb at N100. before i could connect to the internet i got a text from MTN that my 10mb were exhausted. i thot it was network wahala. i called customercare after staying on the line for 19mins only to be told that they cant find my record hence cannot confirm my complain. My annoyance wasnt the N100, but why would i not get a service i paid for. Two days later they told me their record showed my megabytes were exhausted. I asked them to breakdown my usage of the 10mb. They couldnt. I disturbed life out of them by sending them mails everyday to customercare. I guess they got tired of me and MTN refunded my N100. I was surprised they did that. I have made up my mind to leave MTN alone. i only receive calls with my MTN line. |
This is the type of information we should be getting on PHONE SECTION. But its a shame that the whole section is full of rub.bish. We have more advertisement than the original intention of the section. ATTN MODS & SUPERMODS. If you cannot clean and keep clean the PHONE SECTION, the honourable thing to do is to resign, throw in the towel. NO REASON IS TENABLE FOR KEEPING THIS SECTION FULL OF JUNK. |
A new regime in mobile telecommunications in Nigeria is set to unfold soon as the Nigerian Communications Commission is expected to announce the nation’s mobile phone number portability service provider. Industry sources conversant with the bid conducted by NCC to appoint a service provider for number portability, have revealed that a consortium comprising US-based Telcordia Technologies and Interconnect Clearinghouse Nigeria (ICN) is likely to be announced by the industry regulator soon. Telcordia is the chief architect of the telecommunications system in the US, and has pioneered many of the telecommunications services used today, including caller ID, call waiting, mobile number portability and toll-free telephone number service. It was also appointed the service provider for number portability in South Africa when the service was launched in the country a few years ago. ICN, on the other hand, is a licensed interconnect exchange operator which was established over five years ago by the husband of the Minister of Petroleum Resources and former Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Alison Madueke (rtd), and other shareholders, to provide accurate billing of interconnect traffic for telecom operators in Nigeria. In a recent interview with Technology Times in Abuja, NCC Executive Vice Chairman, Dr Eugene Juwah, revealed that the telecoms regulator had selected a company from those who bid for the service to enable mobile phone users change service providers while still keeping their unique numbers. He, however, declined to disclose the identity of the company that will be licensed for the “Mobile Number Portability Administration Service”. The ability of mobile phone users to port their phone numbers from one operator to the other, will mark a major milestones in the industry and will engender competition in Nigeria’s telecoms sector of over 90 million active subscribers. It was also enable new entrants and smaller operators gain market share. The service will also be available to fixed line users after the successful execution of the project for mobile phone users. In the interview, Juwah had said NCC was delaying the announcement of the winner because some of the details of the porting arrangement "are being worked out." The telecoms regulator had recently shortlisted four companies, including Telcordia, among those bidding for Nigeria's mobile number portability operator licence. Apart from Telcordia, three others that were considered for the licence include Interconnect Clearinghouse Nigeria, Wagatel and TeleTeck. But the four companies were later to forge alliances into two consortia with Telcordia and ICN pushing a joint bid against the Wagatel-TeleTeck team. This was done in an apparent deference to NCC’s preference to issue the mobile number portability administration service to companies, which may have provided similar services “in other jurisdictions”, but must have a partnership with a Nigerian company. The two consortia presented their proposed service offerings, solutions and terms at a recent briefing held at the NCC corporate headquarters in Abuja where they made presentations to key decision makers in the telecoms industry, the regulatory agency and other stakeholders, in what marked the final phase of consultations and evaluations preceding the eventual grant of the number porting licence to one of the two bidding consortia. According to the bid documents issued to the bidding consortia, NCC plans to implement number porting in response to service quality challenges and also step up competition in the telecoms sector. Juwah, during the interview, said: "I am happy to tell you that we have now selected a service provider for the number portability. Don't ask me who it is but I can tell you we have selected the company and in the right time, we will announce it." Before the eventual selection, NCC held consultations with telecoms operators and stakeholders and also evaluated proposals and solutions proffered by the bidders for mobile number porting in which phone users will keep their mobile numbers when they change service providers. Under the plan, the number porting service is expected to commence after the completion of the ongoing nationwide mobile phone registration that ends September 28. The number porting service will be available to only registered phone users as NCC has directed network operators to disconnect unregistered lines at the end of the mobile phone registration exercise. “The registration is expected to be completed by September 28, 2011. After this period, all unregistered SIM cards will be disconnected from the networks,” the NCC had earlier announced. Juwah said under the terms of the selection deal, network operators, rather than mobile phone users, would pay for number porting by their subscribers, adding that finer details of the licence are currently being worked out among all stakeholders. Asked if the operators will not transfer the cost to their subscribers, he said: "Well, not directly. At least, they cannot say because you transferred your phone number, this is the cost. As far as we are concerned, the cost of transfer of porting to a subscriber is free. It is zero." He said even if the licence is issued to a Nigerian company, part of the licence term is that the partnership forged during the licence bids must be retained. According to him: "It is not really a consortium but a partnership which must go on in the operations. It will be part of the agreement that these partners that came from day one in competition for this licence must be retained during the operations. So it is a partnership rather than a consortium." He said the decision is informed by the need to guard against a situation in which the partnership is severed once the licence is issued to the successful company. NCC had earlier said SIM registration would precede number portability not only to generate a database of phone users but also to assist security agencies in resolving crimes and by extension to enhance the security of the state; facilitate the collation of data by NCC about phone usage in Nigeria and enable operators to have a predictable profile about the users on their networks; and effectively implement other value added services like number portability, among others. Under the plan, NCC's non-mobile market expansion plan is to expand number portability to the other telecoms markets, including operators of fixed and VoIP, among others, that will see the mobile number portability administrator offer and manage the service between fixed, VOIP operators, fixed to mobile and mobile to fixed, among others. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/nigeria-moves-closer-to-mobile-number-portability/98220/ |
@Kobojunkie, why do you take pleasure in always insulting people and making them feel they know nothing. If you claim to know all why not start your own social site. Your comments are ir.rita.ting!!! |
You informed the government of the threat? Which government are you exactly talking about. Is the one whose national police headquarters was bombed? or the one whose security strength could not prevent incessant bombings in the country? UN or whatever you call your name stop leaking for trouble, nigeria has enough in her hands right now. |
I have said it oh, and will keep saying it. M.TN has deployed guys to fix their fast falling image on all nigerian online media. I am not surprised by some of the speeches by guys here in favour of M.TN. And to answer someone's question here, the reason M.TN has more subscribers is that they were amongst the first to open shop in Nigeria. And most people are known by their MT.N Bottom line, M.TN has nothing to offer nigerians than to reap them of their hard earned money WHAT JUSTIFICATION DOES M.TN HAVE FOR CHARGING 50K/S ON M.T.N. TO M.T.N CALLS WHILE OTHERS ARE CHARGING BETWEEN 12-15K/S TO OTHER NETWORKS? RUB.B.ISH NETWORK. Seun and MOD's ban me again i have said it again. |
Are the moderators here asleep? how can you allow such a sensitive post and even putting it on home page without an authentic source. Please if the source of this topic cannot be traced, it should be deleted |
fellow nairalanders, Word is out that MTN is feeling the hatred of nigerians and are out to 'fix' the picture of what nigerians have made of them. They are deploying their online arsenal to online fora to achieve this. so dont be surprised if some guys here are defending MTN as though their fathers own the company. I bet you when these guys are defending MTN its the salary speaking and not the guys. MTN IS A RUBBISH NETWORK. NO AMOUNT OF WRITE UP CAN CHANGE THAT. Thers is no doubt that MTN has the 'highest' subscriber base (NOT SUBSCRIBING BASE), this should have given them the advantage of the cheapest tariff. I dont know why this is not so. Is it because they are not indigenous and have to send funds abroad? but so is airtel and etisalat yet having cheaper tariff. MTN, your cup is full and will soon be overflowing. |
sorry, who is MTN again? is he the new president of Nigeria? i must have been outta naija for long. mstcwewwwww! |
So you guys prefer Governors to make their girlfriends advisers and not their sons. Or are you saying if Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala (pardon my spelling) were Goodluck Jonathan's daughter she should not be made minister of finance? kai! Nigerians and their are-you-the-only-ones mentality! Allow the guy to advise his father jo. Una no want make him upgrade him resume. |
Sorry, whats the news here. is his son not a human being? or is it because he didnt even recommend him as a minister? if the guy is qualified, why not. More ever special adviser on special duties does not need any serious qualification. NEXT! |
instead of you to work at reducing your tariff after ripping us for ten years you are here playing hide and seek with nigerians. mtscewwww! |
why was this thread locked? |
MTN revised this current tariff to celebrate their 10 years in Nigeria. The new tariff is full of rubbish. below are the details of the rubbish plan MTN SUPERSAVER TARIFF PLAN ( text 408 to 131) on net 1st minute@58k/s, 2nd minute@20k/s from the 5th minute off net 1st minute@58k/s, 2nd minute@30k/s and 25k/s from the 5th minute. MTN FAMILY AND FRIENDS XPANDED TARIFF PLAN ( text 407 to 131) 8 MTN numbers @ 17k/s 1 offnet & 1 international number@ 20k/s all other local numbers @ 50k/s MTN FUNLINK RELOADED TARIFF PLAN ( text 406 to 131) HAPPY HOUR: 4hrs of free talk time, 3MB free data and 40 free sms daily ( from 12:30am to 4:30am) Daily call rates as low as 17/sec Call to other networks from 30k/s Daily access fee N25 daily. Fellow Nlanders, why are these guys insulting the intelligence of Nigerians. No tariff has been reduced here and imagine them giving you 3MB data, 40free sms only usable between 12:30am and 4:30am. MTN is still the rubbish network everywhere you go! |
I knew there is more to the earlier story. |
Disturbed by the claims made recently by one of the grand sons of their late father, against the church their father founded, and its current General Overseer, all the 5 children of the family of Pa. Josiah Akindayomi have denied harbouring any dissent nor are they formenting any protests against Pastor Enoch Adeboye or the RCCGalt In a press statement distributed in New York by Pastor Titi Akindayomi Adewale, the 4th born and third daughter of the late RCCG founder the family noted that " we would like to publicly state that Abiodun Olukowajo is not appointed to represent or speak on behalf of the family. Hence, all the statements against Daddy G.O and RCCG are entirely null and void." Pastor Titi, as she is fondly called, is a well-known New York based RCCG pastor of Holy Ghost Zone located in the West Chester County of New York, on the western shore of the city. She said after an emergency family meeting yesterday in Lagos, her 4 other siblings, authorized her to issue the statement on the behalf of the family. The other siblings who are based in Lagos, Nigeria are Pastor Mrs Olufunmilayo Olukowajo, whose son had issued the controversial protest letter, Pastor Mrs Olubunmi Deborah Akindele, Pastor John Kolade Akindayomi and Pastor Ifeoluwa Akindayomi. Below is the full text of the family statement: OUR RESPONSE TO THE CLAIMS by Abiodun Olukowajo claiming be representing Akindayomi family. Firstly, we would like to publicly state that Abiodun Olukowajo is not appointed to represent or speak on behalf of the family. Hence, all the statements against Daddy G.O and RCCG are entirely null and void Here is the true opinion of the Akindayomi family: 1. We are very satisfied with the running of RCCG since the death of Late Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi 30 years ago. 2. Regarding payments, the Akindayomi Family has received substantial financial support from RCCG in the last 30 years – with children and grand children and great grand children as beneficiaries 3. RCCG has grown from 40 parishes to an applaudable 20,000+ parishes across the globe with the primary interest to win souls as articulated in the mission of the church 4. The legacy of the Late Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi …(It is the responsibility of the children to reflect the legacies of the father in their conducts.) Galatians 6:4-says “Let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another”. Moreover, Late Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi mentioned during his lifetime didn’t want any ceremonies heralding him because his main goal was to always put Jesus at the fore-front. Hence, not even after his demise. 5. Regarding transparency, we believe that the running of the church is left to the discretion of whoever God has appointed as the General Overseer of His Church. We trust Daddy G.O and we know that whatever decision he makes is as led by God. Hence, we do not need to have an idea of RCCG accounts or any decision making processes regarding any building work, major or even minor project. The Akindayomi family doesn’t feel any disrespect because the church doesn’t report to us. 6. The vision of late Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi has been adequately preserved and even taken further by Daddy G.O. whatever improvements that have been made by Daddy G.O have been for the furtherance of the gospel of Jesus Christ and we are satisfied with that. Hence, we do not need a permanent representative of the family in the governing council to act as a police or signatory to any document. 7. There is absolutely no need for a family picture of the surviving members of late Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi to be included in any publication of RCCG. This is God’s church, not a business venture. 8. The Akindayomi family does not require any disclosure to be made in regards to purchases of buildings, transportations and salaries of decision makers. We also do not demand that this information be made public to the worldwide membership annually. The Akindayomi family is not requesting a full disclosure of the private assets of the decision makers at the RCCG. It is none of our business. 9. Daddy G.O is the General Overseer of the RCCG and it is entirely appropriate and responsible for his name to be clearly and easily located on any RCCG material/resource. This is an attribute of a good leader and it is entirely his decision wherever he would like his name located. 10. The Akindayomi’s family is satisfied with the spiritual direction of RCCG under Daddy G.O’s leadership. We trust his beliefs and we can bank on his integrity as a man that seeks to please God always. We believe in the advancements, so we do not demand that RCCG reverts back to its original position. “The Church is marching on”, We continually pray that God’s grace and anointing be increased upon his life so he can continue the good work in advancing the kingdom of God. 11. Contrary to Abiodun Olukowajo’s opinion, the Akindayomi’s family knows that God led late Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi to appoint Pastor Adeboye after him to be the General Overseer of RCCG for life. Thus, he has the divine right as directed by God to choose his successor after him too. We do not believe, and as a matter of fact, it is not in the original word God gave Papa to elect the General Overseer by ballot or election. We trust, believe and in submission to the authority God has set over us and not democracy. SIGNED: Pastor Mrs Titi Akindayomi-Adewale, New York August 2, 2011 http://www.nigeriavillagesquare.com/laolu-akande/we-have-no-grudges-against-adeboye-children-of-founder.html |
Hmmm SAGirl, Reading your posts just gave me some nostalgia. I wished we continued communicating but i guess your schedule is still tight. hope you are good. |
fork adict:Guy, your posts are really irritating. You have a lot of growing up to. I guess you just hit your teens. Even your username is a symptom of irresponsibility. I dont care what your response to this is ( and i know what the response will be), the truth is what i have written. haba, insulting people and making unnecessary comments. |
QUOTE FROM THE SULTAN ''If you have taken note of what I said about violence in the north-east, I did not mention Boko Haram because most of the violence are not caused by Boko Haram. So we have to ask ourselves why is there violence in the north-east, those who cause the violence, who are they? “The government must fish them out and say look, we know you are the cause of this thing from day one. http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/features/newsonthehour/2011/july/29/newsbreak-29-07-2011-001.html |
I have said it before and will say it again. The strength of boko haram lies in them being supported by the Muslims, Islamic leaders and the sultan. Now we know why the sultan has not condemned the actions of boko haram. The Nigerian islamic leaders with the sultan inclusive have always wanted to islamise Nigeria which they know it's not possible. But boko haram is fulfilling what their secret heart desire is. |
Seriously, how come the people who are condemning the soldiers for defending themselves are not condemning the bokoharams? Everyone talks about soldiers killing innocent citizen, so what faction of the citizen is bokoharam killing? Yet no one, not even the sultan or the northen emirs and islamic leaders deem it fit to condemn the bokos. The boko haram made it categorically clear that they have the support of the locals in borno state and the locals have not refuted that statement. How then do you blame a combatant soldier for defending himself by opening fire on people who shield the boko harams on provocation with a bomb. The genesis of all these insurgents in the north is because there is a christian president' which is what the muslims are not happy about. Boko haram for them is a means to an end. One question, all the presidential aspirants that threatened the peace of this country should jonathan win are of which religion? Isn't it obvious. One sure way to address this boko haram issue is for sultan, northern emirs, and islamic leaders to come out and publicly condemn the activities of the boko haram and stop shielding the bokharam guys. But i doubt if this will ever happen because they are secretly in support of the boko harams. The soldiers will hence not stop the shooting as long as the guys wont stop the bombing as long as those who know them want to keep shielding them. |
