ebucha: All thanks to religion of peace! No, not really. If you read and understood the article, you would not hastily blame the religion of peace. Nigeria is a very lawless country, and this is largely responsible for the instability we are experiencing everywhere now. |
tonte: How can u label someone an 'illiterate' when you confidently used the word 'IMPLIE' instead of 'IMPLY'IMPLIES I suppose was what he/she wanted to write. He/she just missed the S. BTW, you writing U instead of YOU must as a matter of fact watch yourself more closely. Oro ti pari, emi kiise eleebo sha. |
Sirfergie90: Ari iru eleyi ri afi nderu beleru ni ooooooo, notin concern me oo i jst dey pass neOlorun oba o, iru kire? A o ri iru eleyi ri, a fi ng d'eru ba oloro ni. Ki lo le lati ko ninu gbolohun ti mo ko s'oke yii? O ga o. |
take dat: PDP, House of Commotion!!!In your mind it is only those who speak English that are non illiterate isn't it? I bet you are a bigger illiterate yourself. I would be very surprised if you can read and write in your own mother tongue. To hell with English. I just don't understand you these Young fellows who did not witnesse colonialism, yet are worst than the generations of those who experienced colonialism when it comes to destroying your languages and cultures. You guys believe speaking English itself is an end to education. I wish I could send ye all to a boot camp to learn to read and write in your very own native languages. Then, that should be the real literacy. |
Look at everybody blaming olopa and olokada while leaving out the Major culprit in this case. The truck Driver who did not secure his haulage bears the brunt of this catastrophy. If the haulage was secured, this wouldn't have happened even if he has to brake suddenly as it happened. There is just too many cases of haulage/Containers falling off a truck in Nigeria. In countries with 1000000times more haulage, this rubbish rarely happen, because a situation like this is always anticipated in vehicular traffic. The government should enforce proper security of haulage in Nigeria. This is an unnecessary accident irrespective of Okada or the Police chasing it. And the Major Person to blame is the truck Driver and the haulage Company. Abo oro temi re. |
Are Boko Haram and Ansaru registered organisations under any law of the federal and states government of Nigeria? |

Cele-pope:Which by your words means Nairaland is casting away it's mediocre image and embracing professionalism not? Well, I hope that's what you meant by your statement. Else, you would appear very much below average yourself. |
A lot of people have lost their limbs due to Sharia. Ojo wo ni won fe da sheriya fun Sanusi onipasanga, alagbere? |
An old man like me crying, it's very sad. The way people act on the steering and drive in Nigeria is nothing less than insane. We have bad roads yes, but should that make us mad on the road? I almost lost my life last year on the road, because a stupid guy thought he must u-turned on the expressway with his truck, where there was no exit. He completely demolished the middle divide of the road. If the driver of our vehicle didn't make a total breaking and maneuvered into the bush, we would have hit the truck and perished. May the soul of the dead all rest in eternal peace. |
Even though he could sometimes act very chidish, but I do admires how he has been able to offer Nigerians both at home and abroad and likewise friends of Nigeria a platform to interact. I have patronized several Nigerian fora in the last 15 years, but Nairaland has kept me hooked the longest. And that despite the idiotical word censorship. And even now that a lot of Young People are partaking of Nairaland, it has remained very vibrant. Seun, Yoruba bo, won ni: L'oke l'oke l'owo afunni ngbe, owo re yio ma r'oke. Tesiwaju lati maa gbe orilede re l'aruge. Nigeria should encourage entrepreneurship in the field of Information Technology and I am not talking of Blogging. Seun, take a bow! Nigeria encourage your children in the positive ways. |
Tinkybabe: Really impressive..congrats young crime fighterThat Frank guy is equally an Olodo. Pluto is no more recognized as a planet. Well, it is Nigeria sha. Mungo Park discovered River Niger epidemics is at work. |
50calibre: Very accurate! Dude you should write a book or a letter and send it to GEJ, you couldn't have put this any better.Come here, who you dey call dude? A je egbe ti o wa ng pe mi ni dude ni? Enu e bi dude yen. I wouldn't have minded MISTER. I would have appreciated OGBENI. But DUDE, hell no. I no be American. I am too conservative for that. |
Rossikk: But that was how South Korea and other Asian tigers developed. Foreign investment from the west and Japan, whose companies repatriated their profits. But you find that their doing so is fair shakes considering their initial capital investment in the said projects, and the actual business they generate in terms of direct and indirect employment, and the boosting of economic activities, which add to GDP.Who told you that's how South Korea and Japan developed? Let us put Japan aside - because she was far ahead of her Asian peers -, have you read any book about the economic development of the Asian Tiger States? If not, you should. There are many books about it. However, if you don't have the time to read a book, the development of China should serve as an adequate lesson. For instance, you can not establish a company in China with a 100% ownership. Apart from that, you will be required to share your technology with domestic companies either overt or covertly. The driving force of their economies is however not foreign companies, but the thirst to be technologically at par with the western countries if not better. To this end, they sent their best students to the best schools in the best countries of the world. Besides, they also copied all the technology they could lay their hands on. As Nigeria is constituted right now, the future is very bleak. It would be a great magic beyond comprehension if we would bs able to achieve a tenth of what Malaysia has accomplished in the next 20 years. Except of course we overhaul completely our ways of doing things. -Corruption -educational apathy -societal and general moral decadence -lack of coherent policies and continuity -infrastructural negligence Are just the most important plaques Nigeria has to get rid of. |
Lilimax: Empty threats. If that happens, I pity all the arabs in Nigeriapakis are non Arab. The people that would suffer would be Indians. They look more alike. They used to be one country anyway until 1947 or 48. Can't recollect well now. |
Toaskarity: Lol igbos now equals to pdp.. lisen any so call sane nigerian that votes for buhari needs his head checkPlease for goodness sake, stop muddling hearsay with facts. You were actually doing good until you said he did not achieve anything. If nothing at all, Buhari/Idiagbon brought a lil bit of discipline to Nigeria. Now you can argue HOW it was achieved. Another thing they did was reducing the national debt and cancelling some contracts with the creditors. You can also view that in a positive as well as a negative light. At least they did not lie that we wont be borrowing from IMF to go behind and sign IMF's SAP. You said there was oil boom when Buhari was at the helm of affair; what were the cause of that oil boom? If I remember very well, the world economy was in recession actually in early 80s. Or are you mixing Gowon and Babangida regimes with that of Buhari? The reasons I would not want Buhari as president can be enumerated thus: He is not incorruptible as he is been portrayed, only not as corrupt as the rest. He is also not impartial. And beside that he is too old, the guy is somehow too vindictive. |
Garri the 1st: This thread won't be complete if folks with extreme low self esteem and unimaginable inferiority complex do not come to vent their frustration over the backwardness and direction-less movement of their gully-zone.You don't need to dare them to come to the thread. Ahaa, eyin omode wonyi sha, se gbogbo nkan lo ye ki e fi ma to ija ni? Why dont you appraise or critique the topic of the thread and leave those people you implying out of it? |
HolyTruth: May our good God grant common sense and wisdom to these set of Nigerian leaders.Shebi Obasanjo only imposed Lamido as the PDP candidate ni? What would you say to Akpabio who on National TV and Radio said, because a particular area has not produced Senate, that he used his own hand to strike out the name of the person that won the election, replacing him with someone else from that area? Nigeria is not a Democracy, but by and large a Thugsocracy. |
ochallo: How difficult is it to read and understand what has been stated above before commenting. The monies are sent to foreign embassies that have 24 hours electricity supply. The same applies to you too. The money is not sent anywhere, it remains in Nigeria. Else, the Ambassador that was interviewed wont be surprised. The people that drafted that appropriation bill should be lined up for summary execution. That's all! |
olason: I weep for this great nation called NIGERIA, a country God has blessed so much with HUMAN and NATURAL RESOURCES , but put into misery by wicked and callous leaders. ONE DAY, there cups will b full and they will have no were to hide! Please brother, you write that Nigeria is a great nation, could explain the features that makes Nigeria a Nation and also great? |
Hoodrat: War in Africa: it is the imperialist elites who insist on inventing imaginary, shadowy, enemies, when the enemy is the Imperialist elites themselves. Imperialist media War propaganda manipulates us into intensifying genocide as the imperialist capitalists corporations rake profits. You have a very biiiiiiiig problem. So it's the imperialist that hampered the development of your country? They are the ones responsible for the killing in the name of allah and duping of poor people in the name of Jesus abi? Don't worry, keep on blaming an invisible imperialist while the rest of the world is making giant technological advances. Africans are arguably the most religious people on this planet, yet they are the most backward and unreliable, especially Nigerians the most dishonest people in the world. Have you asked yourself why despite IMPERIALISM, Taiwan, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and even Vietnam (that was totally destroyed in War) etc. are able to develop and put their foot on the path of economical and technological development? Tesiwaju lati ma wa nkan to wa ninu apo sokoto e ni Sokoto o. |
360command: Okay now! I am ready to sign up to become a soldier for the Nigerian govt so as to fight this new group. PM me if you need my service .Mate, if ur narration is true, you are already too old. You will be a hindrance to the operation as a combatant soldier. |
I really never liked Nigerian english songs. Her only song I could identify with back then and even now is: Oghene me! She had a very good fan base in West Africa. I met a guy from Burkina Faso in 1995, who was really really crazily into her songs. He could play her songs a whole day non stop. I could not understand why he liked her songs so madly, because this guy didn't speak english. |
Akshow: common shut up. Them de talk children of 80s and 90s de talk. There was once a time Nepa was not an issue at all.The question asked was a legitimate question. From ECN to NEPA to Power Holding Company of Nigeria, when was power not an issue? If you tell the fellow he is a 80/90 child, you can definitely not say such about me. I repeat, when was electricity not an issue in Nigeria? |
Ayoobscom: Every hour a British /American soldiers are in iraq/Afghanistan/palestine killing the innocent people and raping their women,me and you are not aware because no BBC,CNN to cover the footage of their terrorism on these innocent lives and broadcast to the world like a Sample British soldier hacked down and everybody is here everywhere with trumpet Islamist, terrorism etc.I do not understand why you as African should be fighting for the Arabs. It seems you do not know your history. The Arabs are as guilty in terror as the Europeans as far as Africans are concerned. It was infact the Arabs that gave the Europeans the taste of enslaving Africans. The most important difference between the Europeans and the Arabs is, the Europeans sought wisdom and enlightenment, while the Arabs are still trapped in the medieval when they were more enlightened and more progressive than most of the rest of the world. |
