claremont: I think there is a thin line that separates human beings from animals, and that is our capacity to show empathy and sympathy. The day we loose this basic trait is the day we stop being human beings, we become no different from animals. Shame and woe unto those who disrespect the dead for whatever reason!Young man, some animals do show sympathy too. Chief among them is the human being. So in essence, you are not much different from the animals you look down on. Some of her policies were much needed, while some were just pathetic. If she never respected the living, I nothing when the disrespected living, protest against her dead remains. BTW, if we should use the same measurement employed by her, she doesn't deserve the elaborate state funeral being given her, especially now that Britain is still feeling the ripples of the financial meltdown. |

oluomad: Firstly, the church is such a satanic church for wedding a lady who is pregnant!! Its very wrong! So the church is for you satanic to have attempted to wed a pregnat woman? Are you really sure? Have you experience satan before? If not, how do you know the wedding attempt were satanic? If you believe the wedding were satanic, then what would you call the case of Mary? Afterall, when Joseph took her, she was also pregnant. |
Ibanga p: If i wan go do ashewo, na Dubai of all places? Mtcheeew, Sill.ly girls. I hope sharia laws catches up wit dem pretty soon. There are many of them in that kind of business in Dubai despite Sharia. As long as you know your way and your pocket is deep, you will get unlimited supply of ashewo. You should go there and see. But be careful not to take them into your hotel room, because you might end up behind bar and loose more money. Since the hotel will also be heavily fined, if ashewo is discovered there, they won't even allow you to bring in as ashewo anyway. |
blancason: No substance or point, just insults.....if you are an example of an educated person, then i don't want to be educated. Please read my post again, this time slowly.I gave instances and real life experiences, you said nothing. i pray God grants you understanding (Amen)Why do you feel the need to repeat yourself to fill up the pages? Spamming doesn't cast a shadow of honesty on you at all. Make your points and spam not the page. I thought you were making a genuine point until you started spamming the thread. Doing business is all about risk, but laws and execution of these laws is what help to minimize the risk of doing business. In Nigeria, there is no easy lawful way of seeking redress, if one falls prey to the sharks This is the reason it is extremely difficult to do business in Nigeria. I'd rather buy expensive, but with all papers, than buy cheap and have unending headaches with omo onile, Fraudsters, Govt sanctioned gangsters. |

Sunny_bobo: @Op, You forgot to state that the oil producing area of Ondo state is actually the Ijaw area and not Yoruba.I normally do not like to engage myself in this kind of Nairaland discussion, nevertheless, there is a need to correct this your erring Submission. Whoever told you that the oil producing Region in Ondo state belongs to the Ijaws does not know anything about the people of Southern Ondo State. Almost all the oil produced in Ondo State comes from Ilaje local Government. It used to be ILAJE ESE ODO local Government. However, after the Ijaw induced Ijaw/Ilaje conflict of not so distant past, the local Government was splitted into ILAJE and ESE ODO local Governments. Ilaje lga is inhabited overwhelmingly by the Ilajes with pockets of some few Ijaw settlements here and there. While Ese Odo is mostly inhabited by Arogbo Ijaws and Apoi Ijaws with some Ilaje and Ikale settlement here and there. In any case, there are more Ilajes in Ese Odo than we have Ijaws in Ilaje lga. Besides, the Apois are linguistically more Ilaje/Ikale than Ijaw. And Ese Odo has no coast. The entire coast of Ondo State belongs to the Ilajes. Therefore, it is a myth to say Ijaw area is producing the oil of Ondo state. Please do take Note, because it has caused a lot of bloodsheding and the spirit and memory of the innocent dead on all side needs to be respected. Thank you. |
beejazzy: The Yoruba Council of Elders is celebrating this year's edition of the YORUBA DAY celebration in a grand style. Are you going to be part of the Dubai 2013 thingy (Yoruba International Convention) starting on the 15th of this month of March? |

emmysenior: This question is as old and worn out as time itself. Yet, nobody seems to be able to come up with a definite answer for it. Really, Why do most Nigerian students (including those from wealthy homes) either have sugar daddies OR engage in prostitution? I took time out to ask some people around me this question and here are some of their responses. Why do you refer to your questions as MYTH? Did you mean to say MYRIAD? Or are the questions REALLY unreal? |
samm_miey: ...The Police as gathered, have arrested a member of a vigilante group in the area in connection with yesterday’s killing.Olopa Naija, o ga lara yin o. Why would you arrest somebody for witnessin the victim being chased? Incompetent lot. |

onila: I FEEL BAD FOR IVORY COAST!!Dont too sorry for CIV, be sorry for Drogba that the AFCON cup has eluded. I'm pretty sure CIV would make a come back soon. BTW, I saw one or two fine gals - omo pupa rodorodo - among the Nigerian supporters club. You could add them to the BEAUTIES of AFCON women sha... Bon soir cherrie! Eurosport commentator has got a heart for Victor Moses. He said he is a very good Strategist, so I concur, athough the team work really impressed me a bit au jeud'hui. German commentators are most of the time right. Daher bin ich auch der Meinung, dass Victor Moses MotM ist. |
Viktallbay: u re a f**l if our politicians must squander our money giving it to their wives is much better, atleast they cant spend all the money abroad a percentage of it will find its way into our circulation (dey've got to buy somethings ere) but give dat much to caf and nd dey wont spend a dime of it in nigeriaThat's not true. Every team get a slice of the cake. The better you are, the bigger your cake. if Nigeria wins the cup, the Nigerian FA get the biggest slice of the AFCON cake. And because the players get a chunk of the slice, they are also a good partaker of the Chop I chop. Subsequently, the wives and girlfriends or concubine get some trickle of the chunk. In essence, the CAF money does get into the Nigerian economy. |
Akshow: I still insist this is not enough reason for us not to watch afcon on our local stations. Ok 8mil euros is ridiculous but They reduced it to half of that. How much is that money compared to money earmarked for one stupid project or the other. When the first lady has billions allocated for her mission house. What I'm sayin is football is the only thin that unite us in this God forsaken country. This act goes ahead to prove that our useless govt dont give a damn about the masses! Why should government use public money to pay fifa/caf? No voice, no pay. Abi yello FIFA (CAF) ti abandon non-interference policy won ni? |
bibina: please highlight the reasons and state your recommendations1: Wastefulness has gone exponential with Jonathan 2. Infrastructure is just as dead as before 3. Jonathan is seemingly lacking in Vision 4. Many commuittees yet no tangible application of their recommendation If you go through my write ups, you might have come across some of my suggestions. I am paericularly interested in 4 area s namely: Security Transportation Health care Power. On Security, the most important security in a civic country is the police. Nigeria has to revitalize and reorientate her police force. And not only that, the police should also be devolved. State, local authorities should be able to have a police. I think I have highlighted how to go about that in one of my submissions here on Nigeria. Last year, I was in a car from Abeokuta to Ibadan, we encountered the FRSC and I particularly liked their counduct and openess. They did not demand bribe, and I did tell that I appreciate their conduct. One of them did confess that they do collect bribe though. Well, I am just relating that to say, that's point to build on. The govt need to build and maintain infrastructure or consession them. And moreover embark on massive campaign to reeducate the people using these infrastructure the right way too. I was almost killed on the Shagamu Abeokuta express way when a truck decided to uturn midway on the road without warning and where there was no uturn. If the driver was not so reactive, we would have perished due to a very silly and unlawful manoevering. Such a truck driver does not deserve to sit behind a steering. He destroyed the road demarcation and he got away, because who do we report such calous driver to? Law enforcement is very very wanting in that country, and what do I suggest? See above. Health care: Same thing. General overhaul. We got to train and retrain a lot of our health care workers, apart from revamping the infrastructure. However, I do not think Jonathan understands, he can afford to send his family abroad anyway. Concerning power, if understand their intention to deagglomerate PHCN very well, I believe they are on the right path. But I am really really sceptical about the whole exercise due to the laicadassical nature of doing things in Nigeria, especially this administration. I can give a lecture on ways to do some few thinga better, but I am rather apolitical and I do not posses a household name that gives the free ride to political position in Nigeria. I have ideas and a vision for a better Nigeria. I am afraid I might not have the adequate passion to get the political power that would get me working. Now, do you wanna hear more? |
austinsmat: Lg window phone 7.5 is worst window out there, dont go near it especailly E900 it has a lot of online complainant since last week my Lg E900 is not booting it only showing Lg logo and nothing more. I check online for the solution and sees that i'm not only one with the same problemIt is true! Atleast my developer unlocked E900 died on me last December when I least expected. So I got me self a Lumia 920 (windows phone 8 ). However, I have been able to reliven the damned thang now, and I'm keeping it for experimental purpose. If you wanna buy old windows phone 7 phones, get the Lumia 800 or 900 or even the Omnia 7 from Sammy. I wish windows phone with it smoothness and stability could be as versatile as the now defunct windows mobile. BTW, I love my Lumia 920, but the OS still got a lot of catch up to do. And I hope, stylus would be back soon. I mean usable Stylus. And less I forget, don't ask me to buy the Sammy Notes. |
Fellonigerians: It is very sad that people who gave their time and energy for the independence of this country are discussed here by people who have not even sacrificed anything for their nuclear families... I cry for this country filled with ungrateful citizens... If you cannot see the achievements of any of our founding fathers, then you are as blind as a bat...Why dont you tell them about his great archievements instead of bitching on their ungratefulness. You would be doing justice to the memory of the Heroes, and also helping the clueless ingrates - according to your opinion - gain some knowledge. |
Afam4eva: Like Obama, Like Goodluck Jonathan. Do you know what these two people have in common? From the get go, majority of people especially from majority groups have been praying for them to fail. While Jonathan has heeded to this call, Obama hasn't. Very soon they'll tell obama to resign for drinking a coffee that was made in afghanistan. This people are sounding like the opposition parties we know in Nigeria. You would think you are making sense isn't it. While you agreed Jonathan has heeded the call by the majority for him to fail, yet you turn to blame those asking the failure of a president to act up. What kinda logic is that? What you do not know however is, this Senator has no arguement, while Nigerians and oppositions in Nigeria have many reasons to send Jonathan to the creek. |
...because the land is full of many area fathers. If it were a motherland, it would have brought forth more compassionate leaders who do give a damn about uplifting the standard of living of their people. |
As an Ilaje man, I don't find this amusing. Why compete with the Queen whose country is relatively, nay, absolutely better runned? A lot of the kings subjects are living in poverty, while he squanders our Commonwealth on frivolous luxury. |
Nuzo': Not all Nigerians are ITK. The really educated and well exposed ones are definitely not in this your category. The thing is, Nigerian Government Agencies and Parastatals are terrible. The reason being that there is no checks and balances, decorum, work ethics, meritocracy. Your Govt does not give a damm, and so many, nay, majority of Nigerians too. Until we collectively start holding our Govt in stewardship, I fear things might remain like that for a long time to come. I had a similar encouter with the Nigerian embassy in 1995. And though things have improved a bit since the civilian regime, Nigerian embassy is the last place I would want to be if I really want be a happy man. But we have to go there. Either to renew our passports or to get a Visa to visit families and friends. If not for my families and friends, I would never bothered to wish Nigeria well. |
auwal87: I think more than half of Nigeria's population will be residents of Abuja and Lagos if State of Residency is introduced and State of Origin is abolished. Nigerians always want to associate themselves with the most popular places, and Abuja and Lagos are more easily identifiable than any other state in Nigeria. Back to the question, Where will you reside?Where did you get this impression? It is very wrong to be throwing unsubstanciated statistics around you know. Who told you Abuja or Lagos is better than the rest of Nigeria? To be sincere with you, the villagers have more freedom than you city people. They dont barricade themselves in a self imposed prison like it is in these 2 places. You got to go round Nigeria young man. |
dotcom_na_me_na_me: Complain 1Seems like complains lodged with a Nigerian agency. Es kommt mir sehr bekannt vor. War das nicht genauso in Berlin bei der nigerianischen Botschaft? Aber Oyinbos werden nicht misshandelt, sondern nur Darkies. Oh ye mene!!! Well, maybe it is so because they are in Nigeria. Occupy them. Atleast they wont send their own soldiers to quell the riot, they would just call the Nigerian Zombies to do the job. Pele aburo. Stand up get up! Stand up for your right. I must add that it is not a right to get a Visa of any country sha o. Aluta continua. Useless country. Lame duck of a government. |
