Education is a companion which no misfortune can depress, no crime Can destroy, no enemy can alienate, no despotism can enslave. At home a friend, abroad an introduction, in solitude a solace and in society an ornament. It chastens vice, it guides virtue, it gives at once, grace and government to genius. Without it, what is man? A splendid slave or a reasoning savage? Failure isn't fatal because: Failure Humbles Failure Educates Failure Liberates Failure Challenges Failure Motivates. If a man has not discovered something he will die for, he is not fit to live. After all, death is inevitable. It is a democracy for all the people. Kings die and beggars die; learned men die and ignorant men die; Since death is neither the prerogative of the rich, strong and influential Nor the opium of the weak, poor and the oppressed people, But a common factor, we need not fear it. OUR THEME FOR THIS MONTH IS POLITICS From pre 1999, our national day was basically October 1st. But when Obasanjo came he established May 29th as democracy day. It was initially not supported but here we are. Just like the Americans have January and July 4th, we have our May and October 1st. This month stands for when inaugurations are done and remembered. So far what have we achieved? Seven deadly warriors against character of a nation are: 1. Politics without principle 2. Pleasure without conscience 3. Knowledge without character 4. Wealth without work 5. Business without morality 6. Science without humanity 7. Worship without sacrifice. Culled from my folder. Original authors unknown. ... be inspired, motivated and encouraged!

i want to say something... when i was in school (a public school) my schoolmates used to bend the ceiling fans and puncture the ceiling boards. also in another public school i used to attend lesson in, guys in the area used to play ball, and it used to destroy the roof of the school. Finally some other people used to destroy these schools by poor maintenance culture. you match the painted walls you write on the walls you scratch the tables and inscribe on them you sign "Dapo Ike Ahmed Ebi" waz here on the door, wall, chair and even pillars! well some things just need maintenance others need minor repairs before they become severe and the rest need intervention (government, corporate bodies, the communities, the alumni, etc) my 10 kobo. God bless

OUR THEME FOR THIS MONTH IS EASTER In the Spirit of Easter let us embrace unity and shun prejudices. It may not be easy, but God will bless your efforts and intention. Sadly many people even Niaralanders do not seem to be making any effort to extend love and acceptance of one another from different tribes. I think I got this write-up from a Nairalander’s post some time ago. I do not claim to be the author, but the issues therein are real and relevant. Please read. Once I watched a documentary of the Rwandan Genocide ( Ghosts of Rwanda). I wept after seeing this documentary. I wept as I saw men and women butcher fellow countrymen to pieces in cold blood without a blink of conscience. This occurred in a country where more than 90% were Catholics. In 1994, during the genocide, Christian unity was on vacation. Catholics inflicted pain and death on their fellow Catholics on tribal grounds. As I meditate on this, two popular quotations made sense to me. One, “After humans, hyenas are the most ruthless aggressors (Nat Geo Wild). Two, Mahatman Ghandi, after studying the life Christians in India made this statement “I love Jesus, but I hate Christians.” Tribe and religion are already dovetailing (interweaving) in our electoral process. In all of this, Christians are concentrating not on the furtherance of Christianity, not to obedience to the mandate of Christ which calls us to go and make disciples of many nations. We are not interested in sustaining the Gospel of Christ in Nigeria. Rather, we are consumed with our individual comfort and convenience. Christians are concerned with financial and social security. We are interested in praying for God to grant us promotion in our offices, for money to buy cars, houses and all kinds of luxury; for breakthrough in our businesses. Good as these may be, we should never lose sight of who we are as Christians and what our primary tasks as Christians are. Read Mt. 28: 16-20 and we shall see our primary mission. Christianity is not a call to success, but a call to faithfulness and discipleship. The Church has stopped grooming disciples but wealthy youths, women and men. Remember, whoever is married to this world will be a widow in the next. Nigerians must be conscious of what the Nigerian politics is turning into. Christians must be focused and united in both prayer and action. Nigerians, be cautious and vigilant. “Let anyone who can hear, listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches." (Rev 3:22 NJB). Shalom. God bless the original writer of this piece, amen. ... be inspired, motivated and encouraged!

janellemonae:i pray it would be the last! i'm positive and hopeful like that. Hausas and Yorubas clashed in Ado-Ekiti some times last year remember. Believe you me, tribes clash! i have a whole research list of tribes that have clashed. Also, let's look beyond the tribes and focus on the cause. What if both the rider and victim were of one tribe? It's a case of giving a dog a bad name, just to hang it! Hausas, Fulanis, Ijaws, Igbos, Yorubas, Ebiras, Binis, Jukuns, Ibibios, Gwaris, and on and on, they have all in one time or the other been in the news for a bad thing, does not mean they are synonymous with bad. My God! let there be peace and love, save us from this fragile relationship we have as citizens based on tribe and religion, in Jesus name, amen. |
more... 1. donating blood for needy patients 2. Media people using their personalities to create awareness and encourage others to also visit homes like what Uti does and what Korede did recently. 3. another 4. RCPGF made by themselves liquid soaps and other items, and bought items they gave to the physically challenged! ... the list goes on. Someone wants 'accused' me on FB of showing people off by saying what they did and i replied with an epistle that i would not bother repeating here on NL. But when people see your good works, they praise and thank God Almighty. In giving you cause others to thank God. Also all the good we do is what we learnt from others. If our mentors or parents did not teach us charity how would be know how to show love?

OUR THEME FOR THIS MONTH IS CHARITY Kindly go through these thought provoking questions and give honest answers first to yourself then drop a line here. What if God decided to stop leading us tomorrow because we didn't follow Him today? What if God couldn't take the time to bless us today because we couldn't take the time to thank Him yesterday? What if we never saw another flower bloom because we grumbled when God sent the Rain? What if God didn't walk with us today because we failed to recognize it as His day? What if, God took away the Bible tomorrow because we would not read it today? What if, God took away His message because we failed to listen to the messenger? What if, God didn't send His only begotten Son because He wanted us to be prepared to pay the price for sin? What if, the door of the church was closed because we did not open the door of our heart? What if, God stopped loving and caring for us because we failed to love and care for others? What if, God would not hear us today because we would not listen to Him? What if, God answered our prayers the way we answer His call to service? What if, God met our needs the way we give Him our lives? What if, we failed to send this message on? MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS The Lord is my light and my salvation. Nairalanders are encouraged to get more involved in charity, it should be a way of life, not a seasonal occurrence. There are so many ways you can extend God's love even if repeating or emulating what others are doing. Let us not be hearers only but doers of God's Word. It is easy to click like or share when we see people doing God's will but you too can. Remember love your neighbour as yourself. ... be inspired, motivated and encouraged!

HungerBAD:i can't believe you people did not see the pun intended. Infact this comment was more amusing that the picture! I know this NLer made that deliberate error to make fun but instead most people started attacking him and forgot about the gross error of that school's management in not correcting what the 'painter' did. |
... the difference between 6 and half a dozen! Those who have ears let them hear.

...to think i have all 3 tribes in my family is simply amazing. Nigeria will be great i shall see the Lord's goodness in the land of the living in my lifetime. Please let us embrace love, peace, progress and unity and shun envy, jealousy, ridicule, complexes and tribalism. God bless |

good man. had similar experience by Preboye's in 2012 i went to the police station by Bodija market came back the victim had been carried away so i also went my way. there are good people around us. God bless them all in Jesus name, amen |
Today i was able to get up and exercise! Once Monday passes and i do not the zeal to on other days grows thin Exercise is a thing of the mind and body after exercising you would not see the immediate effect but as time goes on with constancy and determination not only will you see the positive physical changes in your body but you will be mentally alert and you can have the assurance that if you set goals, you can reach them. Personally on alternate days i jog, when i am approaching my finish line and it seems i will collapse, i push myself by asking, 'what if this is the race of life? won't i finish strong?' and trully i not only cross but i am energized to continue my daily routine. let today be your start day God bless
