/ Do you blame them? Look around you. Nigeria is still stuck in the 18th century. Children have no passion because their parents selected careers for them for their own egos.i.e mama of a doctor, engineer, lawyer. These kids pursue these courses as titles. The end result is that Nigeria rely on expatriates for real engineering works, they travel out for serious medical check ups and many graduate lawyers are under the mango trees outside the court hustling for clients. The graduates? They rely on appending every certificate after their names to boost their inflated phantom egos. One is likely to encounter Chief. Dr. Engineer. Pharmacist Tunde Umaru Okeke only in Nigeria. And everyone accepts it as the norm. The rejected stones (comedians, writers, footballers, musicians) are now the cornerstones of success making in a month what the so-called professionals cannot make in a year. The difference is clear when you see folks thst studied professional courses out of passion and those who did because mummy and daddy insisted. \ |
TonyeBarcanista:/ You have no idea. If FGN signed a lien with his law firm for 40%, you should hold the officials of Nigeria responsible for ineptitude, incompetence and ignorance. If there is a signed document, Nnaka will get the fund. Guess what? US court will gladly pay him because the IRS will get a big chunk as well from his $220m. To avoid cases like this, hold your elected officials accountable because once the looted fund is wired out of Nigeria, it is up for grabs. Do you know how many Nigeria officials that died with untraceable looted funds stuck in foreign banks? Foreign banks love your criminal leaders. |
/ Nigeria is notorious for not paying her bills. From attorneys' fees to black out in Nigeria Embassy, the story is the same. This is a repeat of the Emeka Ugwuonye's saga. Emeka jacked $1.5m of IRS tax return due to Nigeria Embassy for nonpayment of fees to represent Nigeria/Abubakar in US courts. Late Amb. Adefuye fired Emeka and replaced him with Barr.Aluko(a fresh graduate/ inexperienced attorney son of Bolaji Aluko) a close family friend. The case lingered on and EFCC detained Emeka in Nigeria. The case resulted in dismissal of Waziri as the EFCC chairlady. Amb. Adefuye died thereafter while US court ruled that Emeka must refund the money. Now we have Dr. Nnaka's case brewing. All these follow the same pattern--debt, litigation and Attorney General asking for percentage cut from attorney fees, refusal, more litigations and delays. Did they sign 40% lien fees with Dr.Nnaka? This will form the center point of the case. There must be a merit to his claims and that's why the US courts are entertaining the case all these years. Anyone that brings patriotism into this should have his/her head examined. The same fund will be looted as soon as it is wired into Nigeria anyway. Nigeria cannot wish her debt obligations away the same way she treats her salaried workers in Nigeria. FGN had paid foreign law firms more in percentage than what Dr. Nnaka's firm is demanding. Nigeria is a basket case. |
/ This is the best article written about Nigeria that I have read in recent times. The saddest part in this whole saga is that the people who are bearing the brunt are not asking for good governance. Instead they waste their times comparing Goodluck times and Buhari times. The comparison is not about which one is better but which one is worse. I believe that there is no point fighting for Nigerians. Dele should keep quiet and let natural selection do its job. You fight for Nigerians, they turn around to fight you back instead of joining hands together to fight the common enemy. Then I looked around, it is the lot of blacks everywhere. It must be a racial curse. \ |
/ Are things bad in Nigeria? OR Are things returning to normal? This is a very tough question because anyone born after 1980 will not know what is normal. Something is going on in Nigeria. I don't know what it is but there is a pattern--catastrophic problems come and disappear overnight. From fuel scarcity, ebola, tomatoes, rice to forex. Someone or some group are really working hard behind the curtains to take over Nigeria. Most great nations were borne out of recession. US had great depression. Japan, Russia, China had periods of recession. But they all came out great. Necessity is the mother of inventions. Are Nigerians inventing? Or are they resorting to being cry babies? \ |
rusher14:AK-47 or any gun(s) is not the problem. The problem is that the damn bullets are very cheap. For a few bucks, you will have a box of bullets to spray around. Guns are nothing without bullets. \ |
Kings2rule:/ Of course. But it is always better to err on the side of caution. Trust might get you killed. \ |
GREATP1:/ There are many variables when it comes to fuel consumption. My car has 16 plugs. Yet I can't tell any difference in fuel consumption vs. my V6 engine. Newer 4 cylinder cars have considerable power to get you around. If fuel is a big concern, then you cannot afford a car. \ |
saints2:/ WHERE ARE OUR ENGINEERS?!!!!! REAL ENGINEERING GOES BEYOND CRAM AND PASS. \ |
/ If I were you, I will go. 1. The meeting must be in the lobby (no private room) 2. Go with an escort/friend. Under no circumstances should you go by yourself. \ |
southernbelle:/ Of course. Actually the costs of design, excavation, reinforcements and building alone can build a complete house. Necessity is the mother of invention. The fact is that there is no need for it because it serves no purpose in a hot and humid climate. \ |
Kings2rule:/ Those ladies are people's wives, babymamas and girlfriends. Your decent girlfriend may be doing it behind your back. Do you follow her all the time she travels? Don't be naive. Protect yourself. \ |
tkovie2002:/ Haven't you heard of flooding? The ones living above ground are not comfortable. Yet you want people to bury themselves more than 6ft below ground level in Nigeria's hot weather and no steady electricity. Perhaps you should ask why there are no igloos in Nigeria. Better, why do people live in one-storey buildings instead of skyscrapers in the village? Some other fellow is already using the opportunity to inform others that he lives in Maryland, US with a realtor's listing of a house he intends to buy in two years. SMH. \ |
ahahnow:/ After watching Nollywood movies, a lot of ladies rush to Abuja with tall dreams. High cost of living and high unemployment rate bring them back to reality. It is not out of order to have 5 or more ladies living in one self-contained room in the outskirt of the city. They resort to prostitution. I believe that even the gainfully employed engage in it too for extra income. A lot of them (especially students from out of state) come on weekends only. It may sound harsh but every single lady in Abuja should be viewed as a prostitute until proven otherwise. / |
freemeicid:/ Even better ... you can wait till iphone 8 is out. It should be out in 8 months. iphone 7 users in Nigeria will mostly be students. As soon as they hit NYSC, reality starts setting in little by little because sugar daddies and sugar mummies will dump "them" for fresh meat. \ |
joseph1013:/ I gave you a list. Yet your poverty-ravaged mind couldn't comprehend. No need engaging you. I believe Buhari' economy is doing enough damage to losers like you already. \ |
joseph1013:/ GMO foods are bad because of the underlying health hazards not limited to cancer. The western worlds are fighting hard to ban it or the least, label it as such so that consumers can make informed decision. There are about 26 countries that have total or partial ban on GMO foods and they include: Germany, Switzerland, China, Russia, Australia, Austria, France, India, Mexico, Belgium, Italy, Poland, etc. To prove naysayers wrong, they need guinea pigs to test it on and Africans fit the profile. If not for mental laziness, West Africa would have been the food basket of the world considering the region and climate. \ |
/ LOL. Try hanging out in a lounge chilling, drinking and smoking cigar with your peers who you later found out are banking $2m -$5m bonus per year outside of their salaries. In the beginning, it was very humbling. To think about it, Warren Buffet (the second richest man in the world) had only bought a new car in his life only in 2014. \ |
chloride6:/ There is no appropriate time for devaluation of naira. Devaluation without a manufacturing and exporting base is idiotic. Countries like China, Japan, etc that play currency manipulation games do it to favour their exports. The only thing naira relies on is oil which price Nigeria cannot control. Devaluation leads to inflation. But in an import dependent economy like Nigeria, it has led to stagflation-- inflation on top of stagnant economy. Let me see Nigeria wriggle out of it. Every policy should be tailored to the interests of a nation. As I stated, the textbook economists in Nigeria like to vomit crammed thesis without critical analysis of the underlying principles. Not only in economics, Nigeria is a country full of first class students in various fields that cannot stand the test of time because they lack the basic grasp of the applications of learned subjects. Remarkably, those empty barrels are the ones that are quick to show off the long list of useless certificates. Take a closer look at China. How did China become an economic giant? They bypassed R& D, copied prototypes and produce/manufacture with minimal overhead. What do Nigerians copy? Sagging, ear-rings, plaiting of hair. While the Chinese are building factories, Nigerians are building hotels. Do you want to know how shameless Nigeria is? Think about Rio Olympics. \ |
pippimp:Camaro? NO |
NaijaCelebrity:/ When $11k-15k Dodge Challenger turns to a vintage ferrari. \ |
/ And the cycle continues... Feel not sad. When they start reaping more months of salaries in arrears, they will be seeking for empathy. Their votes. Their choice. Their pain. Their wail. \ |
/ Am I surprised? All those textbook quasi-economists (even on nairaland) who were proponents of devaluation have gone deaf and dumb. While I argued that devaluation must have a foundation on certain indices, they embraced the phantom analysis of the IMF. Well...enjoy yourselves. I will like to see naira exchanged at N1000 per dollar. Like I always say, "not my problem". \ |
/ The mammoth crowd that will greet Buhari in Benin will lay credence to my thought about the gullibility of the masses and the high probability that Buhari may continue beyond 2019. Nigerians see suffering as a privilege. No sane person should bother to convince them otherwise. \ |
/ Employers in Nigeria are catching up to the global trend. People keep posting unnecessary information on facebook, instagram, etc. Many have been fired and more to go. Self-snitching is at its peak on social media. Employers and law enforcement agencies are having the last laugh. The only safe information is the one you keep in your mind. \ |
\ Nkem Ejiofor == D'Bell? / |
jaylister:/ The picture means nothing. Nigerians abroad know who they are scared of-- friends, relatives, enemies, business associates. After all, na person wey know person dey kill am. Kidnapping, burglary, home invasion and killing require careful planning, sharing of information and execution which is why it is always an "insider job" in most cases. \ |
/ Trust the so-called Nigerian celebrities. One of dem go enter US one day go begin knock Mark gate upon friends level. To claim friendship with wealthy people no dey hard Nigerians. Na then dem go know say level pass level. \ |
That's the problem with all these cults. They will not allow sacrificed fellows to be buried the right way--always attaching ridiculous conditions. Stella knows what will happen if the boy is buried in his father's compound. She can't go over there for midnight incantations. The boy's dad is wasting his time. Stella won't dare go against orders from the master. |
naijaboiy:/ You don't know the meaning of defamation. Do you? To constitute a defamation, a claim must be generally false. It is more of a Privacy act than defamation. The club stated a fact and acted accordingly. The club media rep might have acted in bad faith and in a sane climate would be penalized accordingly. But then the information came from kingfut.com. Who leaked the information to kingfut.com before the club media representative "confirmed" the news to the press? By the way, Confidentiality law is not universal. / |
naijaboiy:/ Before you shout "sue", did you consider the laws of Egypt? How do they handle privacy laws? It could be same as suing Saudi Arabian enforcers in a Saudi court for wrongful arrest when nabbed for wearing bikini on the street. \ |
