CareerRe: Why This Discrimination Between B.Sc & HND? by ishmael(m): 12:08pm On Aug 08, 2006
You blame them? Me i no blame them oo, na govt wey allow dem to dey hide behind their certificates i blame. We know where to catch them, make them try us for neutral ground see; we go clear their doubts.
CareerRe: Why This Discrimination Between B.Sc & HND? by ishmael(m): 11:40am On Aug 08, 2006
HND syllabus is really too broad. One of my lecturers (a Phd holder) in my final year in school (HND II) made it clear to us during one of his lectures with us on a particular topic in Experimental Design, that he did what he was teaching us as a postgraduate student and not in undergraduate school. That we will not have much problems when we go for postgraduate studies as the same topic still appears in the syllabus for the Msc program. And this was true when i finally saw the course outlines for MSc, and that gave those of us with HND advantage over those with Bsc.
EducationMsc, Mtech & Phd In Nigerian Polytechnics by ishmael(op): 7:46am On Aug 08, 2006
One of the demands of ASUP is that polytechnics should be granted the rights to run Degree and post graduate Degree programmes. In your own opinion do you think Nigerian Polytechnics should be allowed to run postgraduate Degree programmes leading to the award of Msc, MTech and Phd? Lets hear your own view.
CareerRe: Should HND Holders Go To Hell? by ishmael(m): 7:21am On Aug 08, 2006
Since HND holders know and believe they posses more skills than Bachelor degree holders, i advice we teach them to become skillfull like us; else our country will still remain where it is and crime rate will continue to increase and it may affect even the HND holders in one way or the other.
CareerRe: Why This Discrimination Between B.Sc & HND? by ishmael(m): 7:05pm On Aug 07, 2006
infact dont even try to compare polytechnic syllabus in any course with dat of the university. I vex the day i see Bsc statistics and Bsc computer science course curriculum for nigerian university. They are far far behind what HND statistics and HND computer science do; yet dem go open their wide mouths dey talk. The whole work na polytechnics dey do am jo, dem just dey relax. Even uni graduates who lecture in polytechnics will tell you that polytechnics do more than they themselves did in the university. But some of them dont want to accept it.
CareerRe: Should HND Holders Go To Hell? by ishmael(m): 1:58pm On Aug 07, 2006
Laffssssssss, HND-holder lets show to dem dat we know wat they dont know. We go help them with advice free of charge or else crime go too much 4 our society oo. Lets do it 4 dem so that dem no go carry gun attack us one day, becos they too ve to eat food; and when man no see food eat, him fit do anything just to eat food oo.
CareerRe: Should HND Holders Go To Hell? by ishmael(m): 1:14pm On Aug 07, 2006
I'm already giving some of them lectures on how to improve their lives. They are idle doing nothing after graduating with Bachelor degrees. I had compassion on them and decided to help them out with the skills i acquired in the polytechnic so that life will be meaningful to them. Imagine engineering and science graduates sitting down idle or roaming about the streets of nigeria looking for jobs. Can't you create your own job with the skills u learnt and acquired in school? Most of them are already living in hell on earth.
CareerRe: Why This Discrimination Between B.Sc & HND? by ishmael(m): 7:51am On Aug 07, 2006
Kitaun, u,re correct oo, its not about what u read in school or the qualification u hold but how well u can make use of the skills u acquired in school. You can imagine where we are in the 21st century in nigeria. Technical/Technological education should be given attention or else it will be hard 4 nigeria to catch up with countries like southAfrica. Polytechnic graduates are the type of graduates nigeria needs at the moment for technological growth. Kitaun pls help us pass the message across.
CareerRe: Should HND Holders Go To Hell? by ishmael(m): 6:38pm On Aug 04, 2006
Those of them that read irrelevant and unaccredited/disaccredited courses in the university should go to hell oo, because as far as we are concerned they are of no use to the society. No place for them here. One of my friends that is affected is already making plans to go back to the polytechnic to see if he can get a National Diploma in any of the engineering courses, whether him fit use dat one take get work for nigeria becos age is on his side already.
CareerRe: Should HND Holders Go To Hell? by ishmael(m): 2:49pm On Aug 04, 2006
No be lie u talk oo, some of them are already in hell right here on earth. Some have started learning wat they ought to ve learnt long ago if they had gone to polytechnic. May God help us.
CareerRe: Should HND Holders Go To Hell? by ishmael(m): 8:57am On Aug 04, 2006
NUC don dey bring them out small small. We will soon know who and who are real graduates because some of the noise makers in this forum are graduates of some of those unaccredited courses. No hiding place for them again.
CareerRe: Should HND Holders Go To Hell? by ishmael(m): 7:32am On Aug 04, 2006
That s the right way to get to the top; not going to do a Bsc degree again like some wet blankets with HND did.The time u spend in doing a BSc program again after your HND should be spent in doing a PGD and MSc.

CareerRe: Why This Discrimination Between B.Sc & HND? by ishmael(m): 4:28pm On Aug 03, 2006
Bros i can feel you very well. Superiority is the main thing oo. I always feel i know better than my colleagues who read the same course with me from the university.
CareerRe: Why This Discrimination Between B.Sc & HND? by ishmael(m): 2:55pm On Aug 03, 2006
HH, you're too much. I,m also a proud polytechnic graduate. I wish other guys with HND will feel and behave the same way most of us here feel and behave. Inferiority complex only affects those who really are inferior and not HND-holders. Infact i was diagnosed and told to be suffering from Superiority complex, which i believe every one of us(competent poly graduate) in this forum has. We shall and will always come out to defend the skills and profeciency of our HND certificates and also prove to everyone that the nigerian HND is superb and not the same as the 2 years Uk HND. In this same forum under computer programming section, someone was saying that polytechnics dont do much maths and logic in computer science; i had to list all the maths courses that must be offered from ND to HND computer science for the guy to see for himself. He was surprised to see the listed maths courses in our HND computer science curriculum. The next thing he said was that how many polytechnics offer those maths courses in computer science in Nigeria? The answer i gave to him was all polytechnics in nigeria as far as NBTE is concerned. He then said that probably poly dont go deep into those maths courses, that in Uk they dont do some of the maths courses i listed for him in HND computer science and computing. They must always look for something to use in discrediting HND, but i tell you it wont work. Pls those of us with Nigerian HND especially in the fields of science, engineering and technology shld always try and defend as well as prove it to those who care to know that polytechnics in nigeria are centers for high-level technological training where a certificate in Technology called HND can be obtained.

Yes o, we are winners. Pls help me tell Kaecy5 that Doctors and professors are not the most brilliant and intelligent people in the world. What break- thru have they made as professors? Bill Gates is not a professsor but has done well for the world, even professors bow for him. Dont use qualification to measure output, else you will be misled.
EducationRe: ND Holder: HND or 100 Level at University? by ishmael(m): 7:51am On Aug 01, 2006
Cynthia, u,re welcome. Dats why we are in the forum together to learn from each other.
CareerRe: Why This Discrimination Between B.Sc & HND? by ishmael(m): 7:28pm On Jul 31, 2006
Kaecy5, who told you polytechnic engineering students/graduates dont design? Who design for them during their projects? Who design the articles, items and machines they produce in the workshop? Is it university students/graduates that come to design for them? My friend stop being naive. A Technologist can design although to some extent, there is a limit. The truth is that some Technologist even design better than some engineers though the designing job is meant for the engineers. And secondly you did not do HND, u only did ND in engineering which only prepared you to be a middle-level Technician, so i doubt if you know anything about engineering technology. And who told you polytechnic graduates feel inferior? Well myself and other HND holders in the house are so proud to tell the world that we are products of Nigerian polytechnics and we can do better than some of you with Bsc. Point of correction again, Entry qualification into polytechnics is the samething as that of the university, they only waive english for science/technology and engineering courses by accepting a pass in o level english; but some schools like yabatech insist on 5 o level credits including english for all its courses. For business and mgt courses you must have credits in both maths and english. My friend's younger brother (Names withheld) had a pass in maths and he was to do business admin in the polytechnic, although he passed polyJAMB and was given ND1 direct, he was not registered for having a pass in maths; he had to start from pre-ND. But lucky for him his UME admission came out and he was given the same course (Bsc bus admin), this time around mathematics was waived and he was registered in the department of Business Admin in the university with a pass in o level mathematics. As i am talking now hes a graduate of one of the 1st generation universities in nigeria. So Dont talk about admission requirements again.

EducationRe: The Best University In Nigeria? by ishmael(m): 6:00pm On Jul 28, 2006
Pfowighz, i,m not in anyway sentimental; and i had to say Nasarawa state uni was the best becos everybody believes one out of the uni's in nigeria is the best. I,m not from Nasarawa state oo!!. But one thing you shld know is that you cannot say that UI is the best university in Nigeria and get away with it like dat. You dont expect everybody to believe, hope u know that? Even people who graduated from ABU, Ife, LAG and UNN will definitely claim that they are in the best. So how do we solve this puzzle now? There is one nigerian adage that says; "No body wey go say him mama soup no sweet". How do we know which soup is the sweetest among the various soup on ground now? If graduates from ABU, LAG, Ife and UNN begin to tell you about achievements from their own schools, will you ordinarily agree with them just like that? Please tell me the truth and i will stop talking now.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Nigerian Navy Recruiting Graduates! by ishmael(m): 7:59am On Jul 28, 2006
Zebudaya, dont mind them jo. Some of them dont understand wat we are talking about. Please oo!!, we are talking about the NIGERIAN NAVY and it does not affect the way and manner cadets and recruits get trained in the US, Britain, Germany, Australia, Ghana or SouthAfrica. Lets limit our discussion to nigeria alone pls. Training, organisation and administration differs from country to country, it can never be the same. Even British and US military are not the same in terms of training, organisation and administration. Like wat Txlonghorn said, the US army recruits spend 9 weeks in training, but in nigeria BASIC MILITARY training whether in the army, airofrce or navy and either as a cadet or recruit is 6 MONTHS minimum; some people in the airforce and navy have had to spend 9months before to be trained as recruits in nigeria. I will still say it again a lot of people in the NIGERIAN NAVY do not know how to swim and they are still there. Its not everybody in the NAVY that goes to sea mind you. Its like saying everybody in the airforce must know how to fly either as a pilot or aircrew, which is not possible. Lets not compare US and British military with that of Nigeria, they are far far ahead of us. Imagine in nigeria it is only the airforce that has airplanes; the army and navy dont have; which is not obtainable in the US and Britain. The army, navy and marines have their own airplanes and helicopters. The Us and British(Royal)navy even have jet fighters that take off from aircraft carriers on sea which nigeria does nt have; while the army and marines have combant helicopters which nigerian army does nt have. There is a difference btw nigeria and other foreign countries in terms of training, organisation and administration.
EducationRe: The Best University In Nigeria? by ishmael(m): 6:24pm On Jul 27, 2006
Stop decieving yourselves, else i will have to say that Nasarawa state uni is the best in nigeria.
CareerRe: Why This Discrimination Between B.Sc & HND? by ishmael(m): 6:16pm On Jul 27, 2006
My brother i like wat u just said, lets continue to pray to God for all these nonsense to stop in nigeria; where a man that has little skills or knowledge is put on top of skillful people becos he has a 4-years BSc forgeting that HND holders spent the same 4 years in school too plus 1year compulsory IT in btw making it 5 years. Let God intervene Pls.
EducationRe: ND Holder: HND or 100 Level at University? by ishmael(m): 6:05pm On Jul 27, 2006
Cynthia, point of correction; you did a DIPLOMA course in UNIABUJA and not ND. Universities dont run ND programs, only polytechnics do ND programs in nigeria.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Nigerian Navy Recruiting Graduates! by ishmael(m): 5:53pm On Jul 27, 2006
Yes Kuntakinte, you understand me very well why i said swimming was not a pre-requisite for joining the NAVY. Some of them work in administration units far away from the sea. A lot of them work in Navy HQ Abuja, NDA kaduna and AFCSC Jaji in kaduna where there are no ships and no ocean. We will only be naive to be thinking that you must know how to swim before joining the NAVY. Its like saying you must know how to drive a car before buying one. Its not true becos some people buy cars before they start learning how to drive.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Nigerian Navy Recruiting Graduates! by ishmael(m): 3:11pm On Jul 27, 2006
Nutter, NDA Kaduna is for the BASIC MILITARY TRIANING. You do all the basic military training like the airforce and army cadets there; shooting, marching, obstacle, bush exrecise etc. It is after passing out from the academy that you go to PH for NAVAL training as an officer. But during the six months training you may spend up to a month in PH and Lagos to learn about NAVAL equipments and installations before passing out. After passing out you MUST attend course(s) in any of the NAVAL Colleges or Training school before you can can be posted out to any of the NAVAL units to work.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Nigerian Navy Recruiting Graduates! by ishmael(m): 11:58am On Jul 27, 2006
Nutter, dont get me wrong. I said swimming is not a pre-requisite to join the NAVY. Many people from dry lands in the norther part of nigeria who have never seen a stream b4 not to talk of swimming join the NAVY by virtue of quota system. I tell you they dont know how to swim but they were recruited as officer cadets into the NAVY, and they did their training in kaduna before moving down to portharcourt. NAVAL Training college and SEA school is in PH, you may be trained on how to swim and go into water using other swimming gadgets that divers use when you get there. But for BASIC MILITARY training which is 6 months for short service commision officers you do most of your training with the army and airforce cadets as combatants. Get my point, you do not need to know how to swim b4 joining the NAVY; you can join and you,ll be trained on how to swim effectively.
CareerRe: Access/Marina/Capital Banks to Sack All Polytechnic & State University Graduates by ishmael(m): 6:36pm On Jul 26, 2006
Ondogi, pride goes b4 a fall. So you think u,re the only one that is doing MSc. Naivety!!! May God help you. Most of the HND holders in this forum hold more than HND certificate 2day and for your information again we did well and better than you when we were undergraduates in the polytechnic. You are only moving ahead by virtue of your parents money and not because you are hard working. Lastingly, take this into your empty brain, HND-holder is a Phd holder in Engineering. What you are struggling to get most of us (HND holders) already have it. Try and get the Msc first b4 coming to challenge us. We are not mates in anyway at all!!! Well i dont think there is any need 4 me to blow my trumpet here. Make i no hear you say you pass JAMB again. You buy JAMB is the correct thing to say. JAMB of these dayshuh?
