Does any one know about VISUAL FORTRAN? Is it like VISUAL BASIC and C++? |
I pity those who believe in obtaining a university degree after HND. This really makes you look like someone that is not too sure of his/her qualification. The problem HND holders in nigera have is the inferiority complex exhibited by some of them. But for some of us that know what we passed thru b4 grabbing the HND certificate we will always feel like every other graduate no matter the institution. After your HND go to UK and do a Masters program directly or start a PGD here in nigeria b4 doing MSC. You will be in the same class with other uni graduates, so try and prove to them that ur qualification is as good as theirs. Dont waste your time going back to do a BSc, after all there is no assurance that u will get a job after the BSc program. |
Part time graduates no longer do the one-year NYSC scheme in nigeria. But you may be given an exemption certificate at the end of the service year. They stopped going for NYSC 5 or 6 years ago. |
Hotsepper why did u say those days? Give us ur reason(s). |
Its not a big deal now, the guy was a bit confused, the house can still pardon him. Transcorp bought Nicon Noga hilton hotel and they just bought NITEL/Mtel recently. Nicon group is different, they are into insurance, energy, airlines etc. ABIOYE take note of the difference. |
Where can graduates of mathematical sciences (Mathematicians, Statisticians and Operations Research Analysts) work in nigeria? |
Do you think with the advancement in Information Technology and access to the internet, graduates of those old days are better and well-learned than graduates of this present era in nigera? If NO, why is it that people are complaining everywhere around nigeria that nigerian graduates today are not well-learned or rather half-baked, and still rate those who graduated in the 60s, 70s and 80s as better and well-learned? |
HND-holder, where ve u been all these while? Hope all is well sha? How far with government and polytechnics in nigeria? Any new development? |
No harm in trying. But let ur case not be like that of Abraham Lincoln oo!! |
Kitaun, that is the truth o,HND ar employed as contract staff. |
Yes, they may employ HND holders; but what will be their entry level? Most Banks employ HND holders as contract staff; after all no work for town and you must accept it. Thats how Elumelu of STB/UBA has been operating since, using Polytechnic graduates(ND/HND) as contract staff to work like jaki in his Bank paying them less than half of what he pays university graduates. Na God go judge Nigerian employers and Nigerian Polytechnic graduates. |
Pls tell them o!!. kaduna is a liberal city; atleast better than places like Onitsha and Ketu/Mile12 and Mushin in Lagos where MASSOB and OPC have taken control of government. There is no state in nigeria that has been peaceful since 1999. Kaduna state has even tried better to maintain peace and order than so many states. What do you want states like plateau to say? Kaduna is not the worst state in nigeria, lai lai. Even the niger-delta is more volatile now than the north; na lie? Kaduna has been very peaceful for years now, no body harrasses you or intimidates you. People have come to realize that politicians have been decieving them to fight without sending their own children to join the fight. No more crisis in Kaduna again by God's grace. |
We should be talking about who has the skills best to do the job and not who has a degree or HND. After all a lot of guys in nigeria are disappointments to their so called Bsc and HND because they have failed to prove it to people that they actually own it. Education in nigeria is in shambles. May God help nigeria. |
make una no mind shango. people no dey fight 4 Lagos, abi people no dey die for Lagos sef. Naive talk. How many people were killed in Lagos btw last year and now? And how many were killed in kaduna for the same period? Mind you no body don fight for kaduna since 2002, but Lagos its everyday they fight and kill. My guy kaduna is safer to some extent than Lagos. at least we are leaving there and we are still alive. May God help us. Shango u need to see a psy Doctor and Psychologist for help. |
Is Lagos the only state in nigeria? Every body cannot serve in Lagos. |
Sendtodeji, i have tried several times to get NBTE website on the net but could not see it. I doubt if they even have a website. You know how things are in nigeria now; imagine a body like NBTE not having a website. I stay in kaduna, and some months ago i went to NBTE HQ to buy the course curriculum but was told it was under review and was not yet ready. Mind you i was told this same story in 2002 when a friend in lagos ask me to get one for him too. I could still lay my hands on it sha but it may be the old one. I could send a soft copy for you. whatz ur email address? Mine is ishmaelxy@yahoo.com. Stay blessed!! |
Which brewery do u have in kano? They dont brew alcohol in kano state. They import beer from kaduna and Jos breweries. find out from people who live in kano or lived in kano. Have you ever heard of NB plc kano before? or Guinness plc kano? But we have NB plc and IBBI in kaduna. We have breweries in Lagos, PH, Enugu and other southern states. Kano has NBC plc, makers of coca cola products. |
bisisexy, you.re probably not in the right place. Where are you doing your primary assignment? You may be one of those unlucky corpers. Kpele oo!! |
Shango, point of correction Kaduna is not a sharia state, even before 1999 the moslems had sharia courts to try cases based on islamic religion for muslims who wish o! (Penal code). Can a sharia state house giant Breweries? Impossible!!, becos in a sharia land drinking of alcohol is prohibited. Kaduna has 2 giant Breweries which i know you dont know. Stop insinuating that kaduna is a sharia state. Its not true. You were even talking about Jos as being better in the north; have u forgotten the number of times people were killed in Jos and plateau state at large, and the declaration of state of emergency? Pls get facts and figures before you talk. Every part of the country is now volatile and prune to crisis becos of one reason or another. |
Henryphyol, is kaduna the same thing as kano? When people were killed in the north becos of Denmark cartoon, did you hear that any one was killed in kaduna? My guy you should find out about things in details before you comment on them. Kaduna has been relatively peaceful for more than 2 yrs now; but i bet you 2day in Lagos area boys and police or OPC will have a clash and people must die. It happens in Lagos everyday. You are only lucky not to have been a victim of such clashes. May God help us. |
Actually what Nosu said is correct. Mathematical sciences (Mathematics, Statistics, Operational Research and Computer Science) are very good and lucrative courses. But the problem is that Nigeria and Nigerians are yet to realise the significance of Mathematical sciences in the growth of the economy. People believe if it is not Accounting, Economics, Business Admin, Medicine, Pharmacy and Engineering then you are not a professional. But that is not true. All these course i have mentioned cannot do without the mathematical sciences. Medicine and Pharmacy for example will be incomplete with out Statistics; Accounting, Bus Admin and Economics will be incomplete with out maths and statistics; Engineering will be incomplete without Mathematics, Statistics and Computing. U need to study statistics deeply to see what enginneers, Doctors and Pharmacists do with it. Mathematical Sciences is necessary for every other course, and taking a Hons Degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Ops Research is not a bad idea. But the BIG question is : Can it fetch you a good JOB in Nigeria? Most mathematicians and statisticians work as Database administrators, programmers and systems analysts while some go into accounting and all that. It is a GOOD course any way. You can try it if u wish!!! |
henryphyol, i disagree with you completely. there is no where in nigeria 2day that is free of crises either religious, political or ethnic. Infact we, ve had more crises in Lagos than any other part of nigeria. Is it becos people dont so much emphasize on it? Even last month there was crises in Lagos; and nothing has happened in kaduna for years now. So what are u talking about? People are being killed in Lagos everyday, we know that very well. Alheri pls help me ask shango to tell you the G.R.A. he lived in kaduna. Na him know where dem dey call G.R.A. alone oo.Since i dey KD i never hear that name before. All i know about is Malali G.R.A., Barnawa G.R.A., Angwar Rimi G.R.A., Angwar sarki G.R.A., Makera G.R.A. in kakuri. So help me ask him the G.R.A. he lived in kaduna. |
Shango, pls we were talking about and still talking about kaduna, the capital of kaduna state. Jos is not a state, but a state capital, Badagry is in lagos state and not Lagos, PH is the capital of Rivers state. So if u're talking about PH it has nothing to do with towns like Bonny island, Okrika and Abonnema. PH is the state capital. Pls take note of that, we are being specific now. It is kaduna and not kaduna state. Shango I'm still in doubt if you, ve ever lived in kaduna b4. Which G.R.A. did u live? Where and where do we have xtains most in kaduna? And where and where do we have moslems most in kaduna? |
Shango, which G.R.A. did u live in kaduna? Stop giving people wrong impression about Kaduna. As everyone knows kaduna is the most developed city in northern nigeria, that was why Lord Lugard chose it as the capital then. Kaduna is a cosmopolitan city just like lagos and portharcourt, but up north. I have lived in Lagos and portharcourt in the south and can only live in kaduna and abuja in the north cos these are the only cities in the north that can be compared with lagos and PH. Dont try to compare Jos with Kaduna. I have worked in Jos before. Jos is only a Town and not a city. Jos can only be compared with a place like Zaria. Kaduna is a city. Wale if u want to catch the fun u get in the south up north just come to kaduna and you will be glad u came. As for sharia, Shango there is no sharia in kaduna. It can never hold becos of the cosmopolitan nature of the state. Infact we have more xtains in the state than moslems, although politically the moslems play their cards well and get control of the state. My brother there is a place like Lagos and PH up-north, that is kada city. |
i have about 150k for now, although i,m still expecting some money which may not be more than 50k sha. |
Most advance countries encourage people to go into the mathematical sciences, but Nigeria is a different country. If you study anything mathematics just get ready to be a teacher. |
What and what would one need to buy before starting? I really want to set up one. Please help me. |
How much do i need to start a computer business center in nigeria? |
Mathematics is a good course, but not in Nigeria. Try countries like Uk and US. |
A lot of mathematicians, Statisticians and O.R. Analysts have gone into other professions like accounting while others go into IT and work as programmers or system analysts. Nigeria is yet to know what Statistics and Operations Research is. |
yes oo, they dont make use of O.R. Analysts and Statisticians in industries and companies in nigeria, thats why things are not moving well. You see companies folding up everyday. Nigerian managers are not yet aware of the dangers of not employing and using O.R. Analysts and Statisticians in the smooth running and operations of their companies/industries. I want to believe that is the reason why most Nigerian industries/companies are folding up. |
O.R. Analysts & Statisticians Do you know of any job vacancies for Operational Research Analysts and Statisticians in Nigeria? Do companies and firms look for them? I have never seen any advert/vacancy looking for them in Nigeria; except in Asia, Europe and America. |
