@OP, if you were sensible you would know not to make general statements like that. Nigerian girls? I am Nigerian and I live in Chicago. But before then, I lived 31 years in Nigeria. and I never visited a dentist, never flossed and I brushed (still do) once a day and I have the whitest teeth and don’t have funky breath. But i did have a lot of friends, in Nigeria, who flossed and bushed several times a day.
You speak of girls in the States like they have better dental hygiene than those in Nigeria but you fail to mention that many Americans rely on mouthwashes or mint flavored gums to freshen their breaths. Go to the nearest grocery store and you can count the number of people with nice, white teeth. Isn’t that the reason people here have teeth whitening and cosmetic/aesthetic dental surgeries?
You lived in the US for 5years and you’ve become better than everyone else? N.i.g.g.e.r please! No wonder you were deported.
NLanders incase you are wondering, he told us himself and I quote: “perhaps i should go look for a REPAT chick like myself?. . ”

OMG! are you serious about the "repatriated" part? I saw where the poster used the word "Repat" and didn't pay attention to that one bit, I was even laughing thinking that it's all NL joke when somebody mentioned here that he was deported. Bikonu my people if this poster was really repatriated, we must have mercy on him and stop making fun of his thread, we have chided him enough.

Let's have mercy on him, somebody that got deported/repatriated should be embraced back into the society and the abuses being rained on him is not good for his morale and spirit. It's not easy to get deported, I mean he must be going thru a lot trying to make a new living here in Nigeria and it isn't a good thing for all and sundry to be raining abuses on him like that, he has been corrected like an erring child deserves to be corrected and I'm sure that next time he will be more tactful about relating in Nigeria. Make una forgive him abeg my people, thank una wellu wellu -o-o. One love people!  kiss kiss kiss

Excerpts from Inked Nerd's post
Although a person can get HIV/AIDS through the trasmitting blood from another person's mouth, the chances of that are slim. You'd need to swallon gallons of the persons spit to really be infected.
Girl wait till you hear that you can be infected by simply using the same needle that has been used by a person infected with HIV. I guess you will faint then, ladies have been advised to be buying their pack of needles when going to fix weaves. The poster actually raised an important health issue that our society should emulate but the way he went about the topic came across to people as "snobbish".

@OP,
This one is old.
Though I can immediately predict how this particular thread will play out:

- The Igbo chaps will claim her immediately, as proof of how intelligent the Igbos are, and how dumb the others, especially Yorubas, are.- The Yorubas will bounce back by listing 10 other Yoruba chicks who also write, sing, or act, while immediately dismissing Chimamanda as a mere pop tart, plus also remind everybody how a Yoruba man is the only Nobel Laureate.
- The dudes from the Romance section will applaud her frontals.
- The conspiracy theorists will move the thread in the direction of how the white man has suppressed our great authors like Chimamanda.-
The NL intellectuals will start a debate regarding which school in the US she attended, and how well it compares to the one they currently attend, and throw in a lament of how Nigerian education has gone to the dogs. Plus an analysis of what her IQ is likely to be, whether or not she's a member of MENSA, and so on.
-Maybe Musiwa might throw in a map of her ancestral home, plus the waypoints to where she currently lives.Nobody will bother to discuss the talk itself.
Ivynwa rolled on her desk and laughed and laughed and laughed.
@Ajanlekoko
Old boy you too much o-o-o, thanks for giving me NL Laughter Number one of the day.

In my own opinion I will say that we humans are the ones that constrain ourselves to "the danger of believing a one-sided single story", it results from small mindedness and the inability to broaden the mind in thinking. Sometimes the environment contributes to it only on this condition: if you yourself that hears ideas from the people around you, believes it without questioning, researching or verifying it. Yet there is no denying the fact that some single stories have an atom of truth to it, we should only be careful not to generalize and conceptualize all people from a story.
As per the Tribalists of NL, I have learnt to avoid their sickening rantings and not bother with reading their posts. Some Africans that were affected by the slave trade (that is the descendants) are out there broken hearted that they do not know their origin or tribe and some of us(the tribalists) in Africa that should embrace ourselves in oneness are here castigating and pouting to ourselves like " tongue  tongue  tongue you are from so so tribe and your people ain't no where close or can't be measured to my people". Just the very way kids pout when they play. grin   grin kiss kiss kiss. Isn't it ridiculous? One love people!

Do you think that God worries and bothers about whether you worship him from a catholic or from a pentecostal church? Mttcheew, just give him some sweet praises and worship, communicate with him from the depth of your heart in spirit and in truth and Baba God is chilling and smiling.

ogugua88:
Probably because the one they have is real.

No nothing or no anything? Lol.

I usually don't support these kind of things. I didn't like the way Saddam Hussein's body was plastered all over the news when he was hanged. This is different though. With what he did to people in Kenya, England, and the US, he doesn't deserve any kind of respect from anyone. So, I can definitely understand the outcry from Americans.

At the same time, the US is walking with their heads high. When Iraqis and Afghanis were killing western troops, dragging them in streets, mutilating them, hanging them on bridges, it hurt American/UK morale. They looked like barbarians though. I don't see the need for the US to stoop to their level, even if it is Osama bin Laden we're discussing.
@Ogugua
Thanks Ogugua, your wisdom got to me. The world need more modest-thinking persons like you who have respect for the dignity of the human race.
Politics › Breaking News: White House Won't Release The Photos of Dead Bin Laden! by Ivynwa(op): 7:52pm On May 04, 2011
Just this morning I was musing on the pros and cons of the release of the gory photos of Bin Laden and for the sake of peace and safety of people wished that it will not be release, my thoughts then were as expressed in the thread below

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-659971.0.html

I was happy to hear in the news this moment that the photos won't be released after all and that was good judgement on the part of the US administration. It is true that the sight of the pictures will assuage some doubting ones yet what is being achieved in releasing it when it can only escalate more negative feelings. Obama has my respect for that decision.

You can read the details below

Foreign Affairs › Should The Pictures Of The Dead Osama Bin Laden Be Released?What's Your Opinion? by Ivynwa(op): 3:07pm On May 04, 2011
Many naysayers have arisen after Osama Bin laden was declared killed by the US administration. People are saying for the pictures to be released before they can believe and the US admin are debating the pros and cons of releasing the photos.
Releasing the photos they said could dispel doubts that bin Laden is indeed dead. Their worry, though, is that it would feed anti-U.S. sentiment and could be seen as a "trophy" that inflames U.S. critics and makes it harder for members of the American military deployed overseas to do their job.

Methinks that for the sake of Peace in the world, human dignity and to avoid more killings that the photos should not be realeased, the sight of that picture is enough to make the small minded beasts we have in some part of our country for example to take  take up bows and arrows to kill people. Reports have even filtered through that right now in Kano State that there is much Panic with many taking refuge in barracks and police stations for fear of being killed. The US are concerned about sentiments against them forgetting that this whole issue has touched people across the world, the religious intolerance that increased after 9/11 affected Nigeria greatly and have indirectly caused the loss of lives here. A Nigerian youth has been influenced into soiling the reputation of us all so we have been greatly affected indeed.

I will love to see things get back to when we all had peace in our world and tolerated one another's religion, how about you?
What do you think about the release of that picture, releasing it will dispel doubts but is that conviction worth more than the lives that may be lost for doing that? Should the US go ahead and release the photos for us all to see?
Celebrities › Re: Unroyal Wedding by Ivynwa(f): 12:29am On May 04, 2011
I am very happy for the recently wedded couple, it was heart warming that people across the world showed them much support and love on their wedding day and wish such love and support on other young couples of the world too.
The traditions of people should be respected but I don't like it when people monopolize posts and power and are at the same time getting smiled at by the very people they are cheating. Methinks that posts/positions of power/royalty/kingship should be rotated among  people based on the ability of such persons to qualify to hold and deliver the service that is expected of that post.

I don't see why royalty or presidency(as in the case of Ghadaffi and other life presidents and even some kings in African villages) should be held down by one person, there are other people in a community that qualify and have the required capabilities to handle those posts and fairness demands that such people should be given the opportunity. Children and great grandchildren of a family should not be adored and worshipped and waited upon  and be given positions they may sometimes not even be able to handle and live up to simply because their great grand parents held that post. It is very unfair to others, which is what makes me wonder how a country like Libya can fold their arms and watch a person rule them for 4 decades as if they are all nimcompoops only to awake when other countries started revolting.

If the british contribute to the upkeep of this people and worship and adore them in the name of royalty that is their business, that is the tradition they have chosen. I only think that it is unfair to others, they are not the only people in the country.

@Poster
You need not wish them divorce, they are humans like your siblings and friends are and we all deserve happiness in Life. We shouldn't wish bad and divorce on others. Williams on the other hand has been contributing much to his country helping in resue operations and serving  his country as a pilot and after undergoing the pains of losing a mother and all form of negative press coverage on his mum and his family, the young man deserves happiness so don't wish him bad dearie.

It was also on CNN that the picture being circulated was a work of manipulation used by a certain media to sell their papers, the US is still contemplating the release of the picture so nobody should believe that picture being circulated, the first time I saw it-----I went "how can a dead person's mouth be that open (the mouth is set as though the person is alive)".

Methinks that in the interest of peace, decency, human dignity and all that the US should not release the picture as it will instigate the easily moved extremists of the world and I am sure it is one of the reasons dissuading them from splashing the pics all over the place. Releasing the pics may be a wrong and insensitive move on their part just like they have made the little mistake of announcing how they buried OSL, it should have been kept under wraps. The dissemination of that lil info may still instigate some extremists, I won't be surprised if some Osama followers go digging in the sea for his body to have and worship. The things we human do in the name of religion is unbelievable!  huh  sad

It also beats me that the naysayers are all singing "show me a picture before I can believe " and that "the Obama adminstration are deceiving us all", how in the world will the US administration stoop to cooking up such stories? even if anybody does, Obama for one will not go along with it. He is not a perfect person but he can't stoop to deceiving the world just to get accolades, I deem him more modest than that.

Let them hold down the pictures, there is no need to prove to the naysayers that he is dead indeed. What matters is that we all have peace in this world as all these stole the peace of our world, it gave birth to too many hatred and deaths. It's time for people to heal, forgive and live in harmony once again. Nobody should hate on others belief, we have been given the spirit of discernment and anybody is free to chose what he/she wants to believe in. Even if one is so s-t-upid as to choose to believe in the sand or in air or even take their fellow human as their God, it is their choice. We need peace in our world please.  kiss kiss kiss

Just knew Obama would kill Osama !!!
You nairalanders never cease to give me good doses of laughter, this is my second good laugh today.

Yeah boy! It's not really heartwarming to rejoice over the death of another person yet this is a person that engineered the death of thousands of innocent people and above all stole the peace of our world or hasn't anybody noticed that the world has been full of wars and hatred and deaths of innocent in wars after that 9/11 attack of his. It was during those wars that people became hardened as to be strapping bombs on themselves and killing and maiming themselves and others What wickedness!
IF NOT FOR ANYTHING THE WORLD CAN TAKE A BREATH OF RELIEF.
It was also that attack that increased hatred for moslems across the world even when it isn't every muslim that is bad and as Obama said in his speech the same Osama has killed thousands of muslims too.

I am hoping that his followers can chill and see the futility in warring and killing so that the world can go back to when we all had peace and people are minding their business and doing their thing religious wise without hatred from others. I am a christian yet I admire the devotion with which moslems do their religious worship. Let us allow love back into our world.

Omo,
I follow trip for that Obama's swagger as he walks out after his speech, that is one hell of a happy man and I am happy for him, in a way he helped vindicate Bush who is being blamed from alll angles for embarking on those wars. Yet I am still pained at the many people that have died in those wars. May their souls rest in peace.

Our Jonathan should hurriedly send down forces (military or otherwise) down the north to stop those killers that are denying us peace. Anything in the news is enough to make them kill and we don't want to mourn anybody again. The hearts of people are broken enough please.

LOL, your father must be a courageous man to be running such, how do these industries break even with no constant electricity? I am sure there are millions of people who were discouraged from running industries back home because of electricity. The money accrued from the oil should have been used to solve all those problems so that we can develop more, have more industries and more employment for people but the greedy ones will rather stash the money away for their generations that are presently squandering it and hanging their shoulders around in the name of elite families yet are being worshipped and adored by the very Nigerians their fathers have stolen from. We can't keep taking these rubbish, enough is enough. We need to move forward.

120? We are talking about 150million people and where do you see the hand-out from federal govt because I have never benefitted anything from the govt, everything my parents used to raise me was hustled for by them. I myself I am still hustling for myself, no water from the govt, no health care, no free education, no love even. It's hate all around because you don't feel like you belong, it may even be the hatred that the system transmitted into these killers and bombers that they are spewing out GIGA (Garbage in, garbage out). A very uncaring nation that calls itself Nigeria. What is the use of saddling us all along when nothing gets to people, should we all be suffering forever?  huh undecided undecided

people never gonna believe that nigeria might part away one day from god spoke through their prophet from gadafi but nigeria withdrawn their ambassador from lybia embarassed embarassed undecided undecided undecided
My stance long before Ghadaffi even said that has always been that people be given their countries (division into 4 or 5) so that resources may reach people as our population is outrageous much more now that some of us are greedily falling upon others in the name of f-r-e-a-king power and hatred for the religion of others.
They took away their ambassador from Libya as a sign of their wanting to remain united, tell me where is the U in the unity of this country?

@Virgo and LadyT
Do you know that for the past 24 hours I can't help wondering and wondering whether our forefathers and even the fathers and elders and so-called politicians of the south were blindfolded while those greedy people fell upon the deltans and the whole south and took away the oil revenues to dump for their generations abroad.
      I cannot allow somebody to fell upon me and take everything I want and I am still smiling and suffering, people should stop being afraid of them, their arrows and their threats of war and rise up to these oppressors. If they try any rubbish, the international community has already realized the cunning game they have played and will all tell them that enough is enough. They have r-a-p-ed Nigeria enough, right now we the youths are not keeping quiet like our fathers. We are not taking these rubbish and primitiveness anymore because we are a refined set of people with defined goals, they ain't drawing us back anymore. LET THE DIVISION BEGIN!

southerners should start running back home save yourselves pls cry cry cry cry
Do I even know what they are still doing in that north? Who still live in the north? It is their Christian brothers there that I am pitying because when we finally divide SOON, they may use all of them to do peppersoup. Barbarians! killing people and breaking the hearts of mothers and their families.

@Evamathis
You christian residents of that area should find a way to leave that north for those barbaric killers, we are tired of mourning innocent people just because some s-t-u-pid people do not like their religion. Their hatredness has them running mad, if they wake up and politics is in their head they look for southerners to kill. The day they remember religion they will kill their fellow christian brothers. I am tired.

Theres power in numbers, there should be a thread dedicated to everyone that has been slaughtered, lost business,missing family and etc. These people need to find an avenue to let thier shreiks of despair be heard. People cant continue to die while the world ignores it. Theres mass genocide in Nigeria and nobody bloody knows!! Numbers being pulled out of arses! Im sure they will simply round the bodies up and burn them because people mean nothing to these leaders.
I never really advocated the split because i knew the southerners will get greedy and want the country split in pieces, however i do strongly believe the hausas dont need to be a part of Nigeria, they make absolutely no contribution to the country, unless its high numbers of outdated parasitic disease and infections the world thot theyd eradicated! I always try to keep an open mind but these people piss me off! If your serious about a gathering to discuss splitting Nigeria please feed us on that. There should also be an independant news source that will report all of these genocidal killings. Together we really can make it happen!
@Queeny
Girlfriend that is huge, please have mercy. These killers are making everybody get real angry with them, we mustn't  allow them make us bite our tongue. What is this craziness that we can't have peace in this country?
