At the end of the day, we are all here typing away our feelings on our keyboards and some innocent people that were already hustling through hardship are dead while some are in pains just because some people were wrongly told that they are f-r-e-a-king born to rule over others, over oil-rich lands that are very far away from their land and does not even belong to them (I mean the owners of this oil,the deltans are not even taking up arms and killing the whole nation for the oil and these ones are falling upon all of us that Nigeria belongs to them). Let them take the name Nigeria and answer alone and let us get another name for ourselves Ojare.
Are those killers s-t-u-p-i-d? How many more heads do they want for their hatredness to be assuaged?, whose head deserve to be cut down for their primitive minds, NONE! and that is the main issue.
Something has to be done to stop this killing people.

Everyone who doesnt have oil in his/her land should go and bloody farm! people will always need food.  I have been saying it for sometime we Yorubas need to get some sense into our heads and start serious farming.

It is a disgrace that Nigeria has to import food!

Leave the oil to the south south, delta regions its their land their black gold!

I have no problems with us having very open borders a few of my family married across tribes but let every sect rule himself and lets stop this madness.  We tried to make it work but this a failed marriage!
Lets get a bloody divorce.

Let the division begin!

I am not even all-so-politics or tribalist, let the country be split up into as many parts as we can tolerate ourselves, If the south refuse to be together let each side be on its own and have peace , the oil producing area can have their own country and enjoy the resources that belong to them. The South-east can have their own country and the south-west can have their own country. Anything that can stop this killing of innocents while the rich squander the wealth of the nation in their houses. We are all a hardworking set of people and can all survive in countries of our own with or without oil (the hausas are even great farmers and traders that can build a great economy on their own).

Believe me, I used to say that we have much to gain from each by remaining one. HOWEVER, with the CONSTANT massacre that keeps recurring in the North, I have come to question that position. Who will have the mind to kill YOUTH CORPS members serving in their land? I served in Yobe State and believe me, people were crying in the kind of environment we were sent to. And to get killed in that condition by the illiterate hosts you are serving over nothing they have control of? Only one section of the country is capable of such action, the rest have evolved past that stage.

Thanks deadie/alivee,
Exactly my words, they keep taking us back to the stone age, such primitiveness is embarrasing. We don't want to be with them anymore if they have to keep killing us, why are they even holding onto us if they don't love us and we don't want to be with them anymore?

This is about bigotry and intolerance in the North.
Bingo.  After 7 pages of misses and near misses, someone at last, hits the target.  Thank you sir.
But that is what we have been talking about, they can't tolerate anybody----people have ran away from the north, the remaining few there they are killing. They are so full of hatred that they kill their fellow hausas when the evil of religious extremism shacks their heads. We don't want to be one with them anymore. LET THE DIVISION BEGIN!

At the end I stuck to the mantra "LET THE DIVISION BEGIN"!

And how are u sure that the dissolution of Nigeria will come only by the swordhuh?  undecided
The Igbos tried that route , it didnt work. And besides at that time, it was mainly the Igbos clamoring for that move. Now a lot of tribes feel disenfranchised with the current status quo. This is no longer an issue whereby one tribe is seeking secession.
Let me ask U these questions:
1) If everyone agrees to resource control as a way to keep us together, and the North says NO,,,,,
2) If the North does not produce the president in 2015 (and given thier born to rule mentality),,,,
What do u think will become oif Nigeria in these very PROBABLE scenarios?
And let me remind U that one of the chants by the rioters in the North was a raba (Hausa for DIVIDE). It was no longer ONE Nigeria once Buhari lost.
Born to rule who?? How can a primitive minded people (that only love to kill) rule people that have evolved way beyond them. Give them their damn country let them rule themselves. Let them stay there and be dreaming, the other parts of Nigeria have left them behind and they are still carrying sword and tins of groundnut oil as bombs, are they not ashamed?

Division does not have to go with war and should we wait for the killings to reach full blown war before coming round to negotiating a division at last. We are not as primitive as those who must kill for any little reason, we are an evolved and refined people and can very peacefully negotiate division. Where is Ikemba Nwokeoma? NOTE: I grew up in the North, have Muslim friends, have a Muslim god father who I take as my own father e.t.c. BUT, the reality is my godfather is in the minority of good Hausa Fulani Muslims. I am not anti North but I am incensed by the nonchalance of Northern leaders to the carnage they have allowed in their midst. I love the idea of Nigeria being a diverse nation, but the superiority complex of most Northerners is the biggest put off. Why are Middle belt Muslims or Yoruba Muslims not as volatile as the ones up North. ANSWER- A culture of humanity.

Abeg, I am tired of you people who have never known what it is to lose loved ones to "animals" in human skins coming here to advocate one Nigeria. My advice to you is this, offer one of your brothers or sisters to the Almajiris and then come back and preach the gospel of unity to the rest of us. Mscheewww. ABEG SPLIT THE DAMN COUNTRY JARE. As for those saying Southern Nigeria will have issues. I know this, there might be squabbles in the South when it becomes one country, but NEVER will we kill one and other for trivial issues like religion. From the Middle belt down South, we have humans. Remember the good Muslim who helped protect Christians during the last riot as reported in the news. Well guess what, he is not Hausa Fulani.

Jeeeze am bored with tribal bigotry.

Let the division begin! Treason ko, felony ni.
If you are the woman whose six children were killed by the hausa religious extremists in Jos or if your sibling was among the killed corpers, can you still hold your broken heart and shout "treason"? What is good about being one with the north, tell me? We can't even co-habit as their hatred has chased away people from there so what are we still doing together with the north? Is it not the oil that they are holding on to and killing people and forcing those they hate to remain with them out of their own volition. You need to find out the truth first through a DNA test, that way you can stop wishing and fretting. The child may even be that of your husbands. If the test says so then you can let your BIL know that its confirmed that the child isn't his so that he can stop bothering. He is feeling for his blood (and will never stop wondering whether the child is his)so don't be mad at him that he is asking, the sooner you allay his worries the better for you two.

The flesh is indeed weak  and even though we all preach "righteous" yet nobody is perfect. Stuffs happen, the men that are already pouring sands here should realize that this is one of the reasons a wife should not be neglected as she can fall into temptations. I truly wish that the DNA test shows that the child is your husbands because it may bring a lot of unhappiness if he isn't.

It's true that we are all wishing good for you and not wanting any trouble to rear its head yet I am concerned about the child in question. If at the end of the day test shows that the BIL is his father, I don't think it's fair on your child not to know that (at the right time though). I don't think it's humane to hide one's parentage from one, if you look at the bigger picture the many generations that will spring from him will have been misled. I pray all things work out for good for all of you so you can get some peace as peace seems to be fast elluding you. You have to make good verifications that can give you some peace.
If you can think back, were you in your ovulation period when you slept with your BIL? No need crying over spilt milk and blaming you for not protecting yourself as it has already happened. You definitely can't go on like that, crying in the night and fretting. Do some findings before things crash around you, with hearts breaking and you being labelled names even when there is a chance that the child is not that of your BILs.

My Brother I don't understand how a country that gives me no iota of care. No healthcare for the common man, Poor people die in their homes when sicknesses are tired of ravaging their bodies, no free education for the children. You sweat, hustle and struggle for everything and because some people are struggling to sit on the throne of power, some bad hearted ones that may not even benefit a dime from the govt in question will kill your brother or sister in the midst of the hardship you are already undergoing.

Some poor ones among us in this our Africa do not even have mercy on themselves, some people are struggling to better their lives and be enthroned into presidential posts and instead of bettering your own lives you carry weapons and go on the street to riot, can't they all see that these people they are rioting for are chilling in the comfort of their homes and being happy and the poor ones out there are getting killed?? huh

ndu1988:
I think sharing this country would be most expedient because the Igbos have had enough of all this deliberately obnoxious pogrom that is happening in the northern part of this corporate existence called Naija as a result of last week's presidential election where Gej won with a landslide. Americans have already said that Nigerian would no longer stay as as a country and such callous and inhumane acts further justifies such prediction. War is imminent in this country. It's high time we stopped deceiving ourselves as one Nigeria;we are not one and we can never be
We don't have to wait for things to degenerate to a point where millions of corpses are strewn all over the street and a war is going on (what am I saying when the war is already trickling in spurts and some of us do not realize that, you can imagine how life will be when a population of 150million is experiencing a full blown war) and the international organisations are running to our front doors with aids and peace talk before negotiating to divide the country. The elders of this nation should read the handwriting on the wall and let us peacefully divide this country now. Is it only through oil that nations survive for the hausas not to want anybody to secede while at the same time they are killing us all? Countries with no oil reserves still survive on other resources and when divided other potentials/resources we all have will be realized for sure.

What was it that made the southerners want to secede before, was it this kind of treatment? Ehen, if they refused for us to secede then should we tie our selves to them forever and watch our brothers and children getting killed? Even in marriage, there is a point that a spouse that is holding on (even when there is nothing to hold on to) will get to and will be forced to run for his or her life.

People let us run for our lives before we all get killed out of sheer hatred, we don't want another Rwandan on our hand. I don't want them to kill any of my sweet brothers for me - o just to prove that they run this country. Are we enslaved to the hausas in this country?? Are they s-t-u-p-i-d?? embarassed huh angry
Politics › Re: The Murder Of Obinna Okpokiri by Ivynwa(f): 9:22pm On Apr 22, 2011
In a week or two we will be done with this expression of our sorrow, this will be all forgotten and we will all move on with our lives.
Some other day soon we will all awake to lament again over someone's brother/sister/parents/chiildren that some Nigerians will kill because they hate the tribe or religion he/she is from.

When are we going to realize that we are a joke of a country that are staying together against the volitions of some, they should hurry up and divide that country and let the hausas be on their own if they can't tolerate others. This is why I have no iota of interest in the politics of Nigeria because it's all a joke.

The best thing that can happen to this country of ours is division, we are even too many for our own good population wise. Resources can get to people and government can reach its subjects when we are divided into 3 or 4 countries and we won't have to wake up and lament over people killed by the hausas anymore as they will be too busy loving themselves in their own country all by themselves. What primitiveness is this bikonu??
Family › Re: My Husband And Mother In Law Are Very Close that it makes me uncomfortable by Ivynwa(f): 12:08am On Apr 19, 2011
@Poster
The bond emanated from the fact that he is the only child yet the expression of the affection between this mother and son seem to be tilting a bit to the other side of the scale that has the two letter ab affixed to the normal. Wisdom, tactfulness, subtlety can help you wade through this and come out victorious (you and your husband being at bliss, he himself and your MIL being at bliss with themselves in a fuller way and peace reigning among the three of you and all). In other words, bringing in counsellors(going for counselling) or expressing your discomfort here can only bring negative feelings that may make things get out of hand.

I will use this analogy not that I'm saying that anybody is at the edge here. A person at the end of his/her tether that is standing on a precipice for example and threatening to kill himself/herself (as seen in movies and "psychologically" in real life)is always smooth talked out of that mood to save the life of such a person as the use of harsh words can push the person over that edge.

Confrontations and expression of your dislike of their extreme show of affections may push him further into the arms of his Momsie (and we all don't want things to get out of hand when such happens) because if the mum also hears that you are kicking against the love between her and her only child, it may make her very unhappy and we all know that two people that are getting that lovey-dovey will seek succour from each other in that state of mind and that will not be helping the situation but will rather increase the probability of things tumbling down over the edge. It's just like a married woman whose husband is having an affair can nag her husband deeper into the arms of the "other woman".

There are situations in Life that requires no verbal communication but silent yet wise handlings that delivers more than words will and this is one of such! When a child is being weaned off its mother's natural milk. It is not done with words or the drumming in of words. It is done with actions which the child can't comprehend yet day by day that child gets weaned slowly. He is just a Big baby that needs to be weaned off his momsie's apron and you just have to use your brain to get him weaned without letting the weanee (your husband) and the weaner(your MIL) know that "weaning" is taking place as the b-o-o-b-s itself isn't even your own  grin  grin Cheers Ojare, it's going to be alright.

Rich dudes hardly gets dumped by some ladies in Naija especially such ladies with a certain mindset that makes them think that they can't work hard and be rich all by themselves and they d' rather cling to a man with riches and the annoying part of it is that it is such ladies that are quick to brag about "my bf has this, has that, bought me this, bought me that", when you begin to hear that from a lady you already know where the complex stems from.
All the same there are still Nigerian ladies with good heads on their shoulder so it isn't all women that are so easily wowed by riches as to cling to it eternally.

Your post reminded me of a song by Movado, I didn't really like that he bragged about men like him changing girls but I like the creativity that went into the song all the same. He also mentioned the part about "Women, rich men and money" and he even made some sense and warned that people don't bow to money or sell their soul to it.  Now let's have the song, I am already singing it "Money don't change we, we are the money changers-----"(Where's Mzdarkskin, come ere girlfriend, can you hear the song?)

We need to drop this blame game for once and think as human beings! At least on this thread if not any other. A lot f effort has been put into this process. If it goes wrong, everybody is a loser. Corpers may have been killed in this blast. Who knows Gaddafi may be fueling this crisis from anywhere he is! Besides, a lot of military gadgets were intercepted some days ago from somewhere only God knows. We may be at war and not know it yet.
I am beginning to agree with that bolded statement, if bombs now explode randomly anywhere in Nigeria then a war must be going on, the only thing here is that only one group of the warring units is aware of the war. What is going in our country? What is all this CRAZINESS all in the bid for power and money? huh huh huh kiss embarassed angry embarassed kiss

Oga Bigup, what did our wify do that had you running and screaming "divorce" like this, have you made attempts at reconciling whatever differences therein or are the differences irreconcilable. Take it easy-o e-joo- o.

@Poster
I don't understand the "forced into the marriage thing" if you two loved yourselves as much as you are professing now she will not subject herself to that in this age and time and you will not stand and watch her married off to somebody else coupled with the fact that you two were aware that she was pregnant with your child.
I am not trying to be hard on you, I am wondering how you found it in you to allow your fellow man be misled in the first place into thinking that your baby is his. It was great that the man she got married to found out or a child will have been deceived all his life into thinking that your ex gf's husband is his father. Whatever you do in your life never support an act whereby a human being is been separated from his or her origin (their real parents). It's as grievous as slave trade in which humans were separated from their origin.

There seem to be more to this story than met the eye, I don't subscribe to adding salt to the injury of others when they open up their problems here in Nairaland yet I think that it is very heinous that you two knew she was pregnant with your child and kept it secret and she got married to another man with that pregnancy. There are fragments of lies, deceits, secrets here that are just not right.

Okay now you are looking for solution
You two should get real and be truthful to yourselves, when you find the truth therein lies the solution to your problem. One love!

One more thing poster please quickly remove your name from the tail part of your post please. Thanks

Alleluiah for our lady Ejademen!
Ivynwa begins to sing "Finally the Lord has done it, finally the Lord has done it, Finally the Lord has done it----finally the Lord has done".
She dances and dances to the Lord like David danced and on she danced out of the thread.

Nice contributions from Fstranger, Chaircover and Nekai

Nekai:
1. Insulin use for the diabetic mother does not cause a baby to have complications.
Not using insulin when you are diabetic can casue complications. The baby may grow very large, too large to pass safely into the birth canal. Either way, diabetes put a baby at higher risk of complications. There is a risk that the blood sugars of the baby may drop to dangerous levels, which is why they must measure the blood sugar of the baby at birth.
2. Vitamin C is important to everyone, and is not much more important to pregnant women.
The most important vitamin is folic acid, which is found in leafy green vegetables, so spinach as you stated is very helpful. Folic acid is especially helpful in the early stages, so it is important for women who are planning to get pregnant to start taking extra. 800 mg is recommended. This vitamin helps prevent neural tube defects, like spina bifida. The neural tube defects occur in the first 6-12 weeks of the pregnancy, sometimes before a woman realizes she is pregnant, so supplementation beforehand is necessary.
3. Travelling on a shaking bus
This is not harmful for the low risk pregnant woman, but for those suffering from an incompetent cervix, or a previous miscarriage or previous preterm delivery it would be best to avoid the extra jolting.
4.Wearing high heels isn't harmful to a baby.
It may be uncomfortable for the mother because many women suffer from swelling. It may also be a bit harder to walk since the center of gravity is shifted during pregnancy.
5. Alcoholic drinks is especially harmful to a developing baby.
Fetal alcohol syndrome is a preventable birth defect, caused by alcohol comsumption during pregnancy. It's best to avoid it altogether.
6. Pounding on a mortar
Not harmful. (See #3)

More. . .
Things that are not harmful: Sex (for low risk pregnancies), Going for a swim, light exercise.
Things that are harmful: x-rays, lying on your back too much in late pregnancy, drug
(ask your doctor for a list of approved drugs you can take.)
@Fstranger(FFriend/Fnwa) my friend
The insulin use I was talking about is the unregulated/uncontrolled use of it, you misunderstood me. Thanks for your powerful contribution, I am really amazed at you that this great piece came from you who is always busy having fun and playing serious pranks here in NL.

@Nekai
I didn't really mean shaking buses, the "being shaken all over when driven over potholes and bumps" I meant is for pregnant women especially those in the first trimester to avoid stuffs like being bumped all over on a pothole filled roads.
Your piece is a great one but me thinks that wearing high heels and pounding on a mortar should be avoided especially in the first trimester. I have come across "not one, not two, not even three" women that have had miscarriages that resulted from those.

@Chaircover
Yeah girl (whoops!, yeah madam----don't mind me Ojare!), for sure pregnancy is no illness. We ain't saying for ladies to pack up their feet and cozy up in bed all day without moving a finger and having their husbands on their toes and feet doing their biddings all in the name of being preggie.  grin kiss We are just talking and mentioning one or two things or situations that P. women must be careful with for their safety and the safety of their babies. Thanks

Good day all!
Please I have a thread with this topic and link below

What Are The Factors/things That Can Affect Pregnancy & Pregnant Women?
https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-638131.0.html

We are already discussing such issues about pregnant women like avoiding pounding things, stressful situations that may cause miscarriages like taking long rides over bumpy and pothole-filled roads, taking uncontrolled/unregulated or dangerous medications.
I feel that members of this thread may know much about the things being discussed therein and I am inviting any interested person that wants to contribute to the enlightenment and education of young women in our society to contribute their views and experiences there. It will be highly appreciated.
Thanks to you as the Lord is visiting each and every one of us, healing/granting us our heart's desires and restoring all the years that the cankerworm have stolen as he promised in Joel 2 vs 25. Alleluiah! Somebody Shout!   grin  grin  kiss Smile! Amen.

stillwater:
Nice thread.
So some women have strength to be pounding food while pregnant? huh
@Stillwater
It sounds hard to believe dear but trust African women and our inbred well domesticated upbringing that have some of us doing such stuffs they shouldn't do during pregnancy simply because they are very used to doing it without knowing that it may pose some dangers. I know somebody that lost her first baby after pounding food on mortar and that same somebody (you will not believe it but it's very true!) lost her second baby after taking an Okada ride in haste and anxious to reach her destination in time.

sadboy:
shaking bus cannot kill baby. i ve seen pregnant women pounding dancing even fall from up steps yet they deliver bouncing babies it make the babies more stronger and adventural
@sad/ grin happyboy
I agree with the part about a p. woman doing some not-too rigorous dance steps here and there but pounding is a no no when in such a condition. Exercises (that are not too exhausting and rigorous) are very good, I have read severally where it is advised especially in the last trimester.

@Megletters
Thanks for your contribution megletters, your comment has a good modicum of intelligence and proffessionalism.

@Ifyalways
You are right there, I don't believe that a p. woman should do such heavy task as pounding, in as much as some women are more fragile than others and our fore mothers pounded with pregnancy, I am of the opinion that women should be dissuaded from pounding when pregnant. Grinders should be used and in cases where such persons can't afford that their immediate family should help them perform such household tasks. Ante-natal is also indispensable as it affords women (among other things) the opportunity to be advised by their doctors/gynaecologist on the right and wrong drugs to use.

Blazay:
Just wondering how our grand-mothers and great-grand-mothers coped with little or no education. Yet, they had the healthiest of children. Non-viable ones did not survive of course. They seemed to take much better care of themselves than these new-generation enlightened women.

Wonders!
PoPorson go go carry belle without knowing how to take care of herself and the pregnancy in this day and age?
With all the 'googleliscious' and 'wikipedious' resources out there?

Na wah!
@Blazay
Aren't our old time mothers wonderful to have made it even with lack of information and knowledge in the olden days yet women are better equipped with info to avoid miscarriages and malformations.
It isn't every woman that knows to use search engines like google and wikipedia to empower themselves with knowledge, some are not fortunate enough to afford internet connections while some are just too happy-go-lucky and too taken with other things to bother googling and reading up such stuffs.
