GTB by miles, as far as I'm concerned.

From staff angle:
-No aggressive marketing: Their brand sells them even more than their marketers, no cut-throat targets
-Working environment: Very cool
-Less stress: Aside from old generation banks, they are the only bank where weekend working is rare
-OK Pay: They may not be the best in the industry by pay criteria, but certainly up there with the bests. No stupid strings attached to pays
-Appeal: GTB has this appeal that once you enter any of their branches, you will wish you are a banker. Much as I dislike bank work, GTB is the only bank I can consider because of work. I can consider bankPHB because of their pay though.

From Customer angle:
-Excellent service: They hardly disappoint. Hardly do you experience network problem.
-Courteous staff: Their staff are very courteous, but they won't worship you. They give you the respect you deserve, but not to the extent of begging you. I like their style.
-Zero balance: They set the pace
-ATM: Well serviced ATM machines that hardly disappoint.
-Ever effective funds transfer, real time
-Efficient payment system: If you use GT a/c as your salary a/c, you will know what I'm saying here
-In my service year,GT was the only bank taht didn't use to remove a Kobo from corpers' allawee

I just enjoy this bank. Since I started banking with them, I have yanked off my monies in Diamond, UBN and the exploitative UBA!

The Top 10 thread has actually been exhausted, and has already reached peak. I also agree with you many that many casual visitors will not know what was going on there, given the thread title.

I think this thread is long overdue and I foresee another explosive, educative and enlightening discussion.

Let the CF/IB/SB guys come and educate us.

Hmmnnn, another Friday, with its usual relaxed environment. Casuals. TGIF. Everybody looking forward to a wonderful weekend.

Fridays are usually short of activities for me. First the lady beside me (a corper) doesn't come on Fridays(her CD day) so I don't usually have anybody to gist. So I'm usually alone in our corner.

Month-end is around the corner again and with second day of next month the new deadline for finalization of accounts in everybody's charge, I foresee a very hectic next week.

But God dey sha!!!!

Have a wonderful weekend all.

Although the thread on Top 10 Investment Banking Institutions has done justice to the bulk of issues on CF/IB/SB, this still is a very great initiative from you, T-Cann.

I see the birth of another very educative thread on NL.

Sports › Re: Nigeria(0) Vs Tunisia(0) on Saturday June 20th by Jarus(m): 9:36am On Jun 26, 2009
As for Mikel, a lot of pple are casting  club sentiment.

At least, he was not responsible for the two dead weight the team carried for most duration of the encounter - the Uche brothers.
Much as I also believe it is unfair to hold Mikel only responsible for Eagles' faliures, I disagree with the above. IK Uche has been more useful to SE than Mikel, so that was why many people forgave him for his unimpressive performance against Tunisia. I can't remember any game Mikel put up a five-star performance in SE's shirt, maybe against Zimbabwe in 2006 Nations cup and against Benin republic in Ghana 2008, his other games in SE's shirt were nothing to write home about. He was our poorest player on field against Mozambique. Ike Uche, on the other hand is a consistent performer, and disappointing display has been an exception, rather than the rule, for him. And the game against Tunisia was just one of such exception.

Then talk of discipline and commitment. Ik has it. He is one of the few SE players that don't give silly excuses to miss SE matches. Arriving early in camp etc. Needless to talk about Mikel here. So this is another reason many Nigerians will pardon poor performance from IK Uche, which is very rare anyway.

As for his brother, he was truly shit against Kenya and Tunisia, but many people still hold him in high regard than Mikel simply because of he's more committted and he has also had his own fair share of excellent games for SE(against France, first round qualifiers etc).

Very Impressive display from the BB. I didn't see them winning the Samba boys.

Egypt beating Italy, after giving Brazil a run for their money
SA holding Brazil for 87 minutes
Nigeria beating France

Something tells me an African team will make Semi-Final in SA 2010.

Whats the difference between a pure hypocrite and an unpure hypocrite? do they have separate hell fires?
Na wa for you o.
This is very serious. So you don't know the meaning of 'pure' as used in that sentence, and you expect 'unpure hypocrite' to be the opposite.
Even my sister in primary school will know that 'pure hypocrite' as used in the statement means 'whole, complete hypocrite'.

Pls don't ask me what 'incomplete hypocrite' means because I don't know how to explain more simply to you than I've already done.

@ mushin

can we at least know the very essence of each message in advance.

like is the haddith of the day intended to address love, giving, zakat or what? This would make it more interactive and ignorant people like myself can ask questions and learn.
Most sensible post i have read from you.

Muhsin,
Try to modify your introductory post to spell out the message of each hadith. It could be before or after the statement of the hadith, but better before the hadith.
Thanks

@RSA et al,

There is one proverb in my tribe that says "T'omode ba soogun, egbe e lonfibaja" literally meaning 'if a child does a fighting charm, it can only be effective against his mate''

Surprises truly do happen in football. But BB beating this Brazil team is absolute impossibility. Forget about it, no surprise it.

I am a girl that does not really follow football except when Nigeria is playing and a few matches of chelsea FC.

http://acnee-books..com
With due respect to those that genuinely support Chelsea, why is it that most of the people that know nothing about football or just start watching football choose Chelsea as their club/watch their match?

I was watching football in a public viewing centre a couple of months ago, and one guy can't recognize Djibril Cisse? I was so surprised and asked why on earth will somebody call himself a football follower without knowing who Djibril Cisse is, but with Chelsea jersey on the guy, I didn't bother myself further.
Politics › Re: Lamido Sanusi: If Audit Reveals Some Bank Executive Have Been Cooking Their Book by Jarus(m): 2:54pm On Jun 23, 2009
I'm not a fan of ethnic profiling and I don't usually like commenting on ethnic issues, but I must say this one:
The North lost out drastically in the Banking sector and it wants badly to get back in. Of the 24 banks in the country, only one is owned by, or headed by a northerner. And that one is Unity bank- the smallest and least successful bank in the country.
When he opens up the banks to foreign ownership, Arab money moves in to take over majority of the banks!
It sounds very stupid, but I had to add that, cos I know its a fact and that's the agenda!
Much as I do not want to reopen the overdiscussed issue of Sanusi & Northern agenda, I found the above too ridiculous to leave unreplied.

True, some northerners are displeased with the fact that the country's banking system in dominated by Southerners, but if you know the man Sanusi Aminu Lamido Sanusi, you will definitely not utter this statement. If the north truly have that agenda, then they have picked a wrong person in SLS. He cannot be remote-controlled. This Sanusi is not the next door aboki. I can vouch for his depth of brilliance and discipline.

Dis Guy:
even you know

and if there was a northerner agenda he'd have been working for union or unity bank!
Well said Dis Guy. This is a man that rose through the ranks in UBA to become GM, a man that received phone call(sort of begging) from First bank to come and be an Executive Director without lobbying, and after a couple of years, given GMD ahead of even that had been on the board before him. Are these northern banks?
T'omo ba dara e je kaawi. SLS is a rare breed Fulani man.

Straw-grabbing. . .

There is nothing new in what she's saying. The whole world knows the Sarakis have Kwara in their pockets.
She contested against her brother in 2007 and lost. She went to court and lost. Now she has resorted to telling us what we already know just to score cheap political point.

Simply because she was not able to ride on the crest of her father to get her share of 'Kwara cake'.
Romance › Re: Ekiti-ijebu Romance by Jarus(m): 10:10am On Jun 23, 2009
It is not only Ekiti that have such aversion for Ijebu when it comes to marriage. It appears general in Yorubaland. Even in our family in Kwara, you dare not take Ijebu lady/guy home whether as husband or wife, educated as our parents are. They will vehemently oppose it, to the extent of disowning you. That is how serious it is.
We try to convince them that it doesn't matter, but they keep telling us that Ijebus are too fetish etc. Anyway, by force, a couple of us have married Ijebu, one as husband, the other as wife, and they had had no option than to accept them.
