Ikanium: My name is Stephen Ikani i stay in
kaduna northern part of Nigeria am
from a family of 11 and am the
fourth born, my dad is old and has
no job, my mom is a trader she
trades on perishable goods which
are of little yield my three elder
sisters are all married to men who
somtimes even come to our homes
for food smh!! my siblings all
attend government schools and
they all depend on me for clothing,
food and shelter.... I work my
Bottom off daily doin mini jobs at
were ever i could find one. After a
day's job i give the returns to my
mom which she utilise for our
feeding, life is so hard that
sometimes i wish i was not here
hmmmm!! All along i depend on
God for He is up above us all there
watching. Sorry to bore you guys
with my unending tales, i had
struggled to complete my O' level
result and God in his mercy has
offered me admition into Kogi State
University.... But brethren i don't
have money for feeding, my family
directly depends on me i have
nothing, i have used my little
savings to print my admition letter
and do other things, but guys the
school fee which if not paid will be
closed by the 17th of this month is
the big problem here my heart is
beating very fast as i write this i
don't know what else to do as i
have run helter skelter, north to
south, east to west in search of
whom to help but i havn't found
any. God has created us all not
equal He has placed some in high
positions for we are all not equal as
our fingers are not... I am writing
this today with the mind that God
who has given me this admition is
still faithfull to give me the school
fee... Are you in any position to
help? Do u know that your 1000,

Eko Ile: The concessioned road belongs to the people of Lagos state, it's called indirect taxation. If they ask you to pay taxes to build that road, you wont pay, so you are paying for it right now, but the road is all yours free after the concession.

There's more to development than cutting down workforce, it begins in prudent management of available resources, not in waking up to discover more resources can be conserved by laying off workers only to have xcess money for those in position to loot in surplus

We are not sure of those who will manage the 'freed up money' arising from all these money conserving theories; remove subsidy to free money, reduce unproductive and over bloated civil service workforce to save money, reduce number of political appointees to save money, reduce pay package of political office holders to save money, etc, etc, etc.

and i repeat - WHO WILL MANAGE THESE FREE UP MONEY.

are we talking about these same politicians, who can not manage the available resources properly, that will automatically transform to be good managers of bigger money? is it these politicians that have now acquire a high taste for private jets that will manage the freed up money? is it these politicians with 10 presidential jets - and still counting - who will manage the money? is it these same politicians who will eat over 1 billion naira food, in a 2 billion naira new banquet hall, that will manage the free up money, is it the politicians demolishing fully built up estates in abuja to reallocate the plots to themselves that, that will manage the money? these case questions can go on and on endlessly with nigerian politician who, unfortunately, are the custodians of the national wealth, and they decides who gets what. they have proven over and over and over that they are not willing and able to put the resources of this country to proper use for the benefit of the citizenry. they have proved, beyond reasonable doubt, that they can not manage the national wealth. the Bible states clearly in Luke 6:10 http:///l9SEg that "If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities".

So in as much as money may be freed up from the much speculated policy postulations, i strongly doubt the resulting impact on the generality of Nigerian citizens. i mean the impact in business, infrastructure, creation of employment, education, health, better governance, etc.

Turbocharged: Against the backdrop of President Goodluck Jonathan’s yet-to-be announced re-election bid, a Lagos-based social critic, Prince Kayode Olowu, has said that the president would be his own greatest inhibition, as there is a dearth of trustworthy opposition across the political spectrum.

Olowu regretted that Jonathan had left the masses after riding on their popular support to power, saying, however, that he still has a chance to “return to the people through honest performance.”

According to Olowu, a former chairman of Lagos State Property Development Corporation, “There is no credible opposition now. Those in the PDP are merely ‘People Deceiving People’, and outside PDP, the opposition elements cannot be trusted. For now, those calling themselves opposition are not credible people. President Jonathan still has the chance to do it in such a way that Nigerians will just tell him to carry on.

“He should stop telling us he is not our problem. After all, what did he promise? Did he not promise that those not having shoes would be given to wear? “He should reorder his priorities to make the common people the target of his political agenda and development programmes. He still has time.”

Olowu said it was unfortunate that the federal government was finding it difficult to prosecute erring fuel marketers.
He stressed that instead of wasting public resources on such prosecutions that have little prospect of really punishing thieving marketers, to serve as a deterrent to others, government should device other ways of recovering the stolen funds.

“These oil marketers are holding everybody to ransom because the president has boxed himself into their hands. The masses were with him, but he left the people.

chosen04: Members of Jama’atul Ahlis Sunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad also known as Boko Haram have said they are now willing to seize fire and stop all atrocities being perpetrated by their group and work against other existing groups if the State and Federal Government will truly heed to their demands.

The acclaimed spokesman of the group, Abu Mohammed Ibn Abdulazeez, who doubles as the second-in-command (Amir) to their leader Imam Abubakar Shekau revealed this in a tele-conference with journalists in Maiduguri on Thursday stating that if the state and the federal government want the group to seize fire completely, then former Borno state governo,r Ali Modu Sheriff must be arrested and prosecuted according to the law of the land.

He also said that apart from the arrest of Senator Ali Sheriff, government should compensate the group and rebuild their places of worship which were destroyed during 2009 uprising.

Abu Abdulazeez further stressed that, all their members who were arrested and are under the custody of security agencies must be released with immediate effect, and all their wives who were displaced following the crises as well as their children must be rehabilitated into the society to create room for a fruitful dialogue with the Federal Government.

He pointed out that for a dialogue to take place, it must be through the following elders namely: Dr. Shettima Ali Monguno, Former Head of State General Muhammadu Buhari, former Yobe State Governor, Bukar Abba Ibrahim, Ambassador Gaji Galtimari and Barr Aisha Alkali Wakil and her husband, Barr, Alkali Wakil, insisting that the dialogue must not take place in Nigeria but Saudi Arabia, as according to him, the government of Nigeria is not sincere for dialogue due to its betrayal in the past.

Abu Abdulazeez also said that the group has mandated five members who are to mediate on their behalf; they include himself (Abu Mohammed Abdulazeez), Abu Abbas, Sheikh Ibrahim Yusuf, Sheikh Sani Kontogora and Mamman Nur

While speaking on the series of killings and unwantom destruction of property that took over Maiduguri recently, Abu Abdulazeez disassociated the group from such act, pointing out that such attacks were politically motivated by those seeking for power in the Borno Emirate council, government or otherwise, but not in line with the ideology of the sect who are fighting for the cause of Allah.

He also said that,the burning of old and newly constructed primary schools witnessed across the state were not masterminded by the sect, insisting that the burning of such places were carried out by aggrieved politicians who were denied contracts from the state government.

Lanreclassic: President Goodluck Jonathan has felicitated with former President Olusegun Obasanjo on his appointment as the Country Representative for Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust.
This is contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by Dr Reuben Abati, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.
Abati said that the President in a congratulatory letter, expressed confidence in Obasanjo on the “new honorific position”.
The President said that Obasanjo would ensure that the trust generated the resources required to fund legacy projects in the name of Queen Elizabeth through his wide network of contacts across the Commonwealth.
Jonathan said he considered the appointment, not only a personal honour to the former President, but also to Nigeria as a country.
