ukay2: l do NYSE stocks with S&S ISA
I am already on NHS pensions.....won't SIPP want me to take my NHS pension contributions to SIPP?
l am currently happy with the NHS pension contribution From what I gather, passive index funds have been proven to outperform individual stock picks or actively managed funds in most markets for a significant majority or people moreso over the longterm. What has been your experience with your picks? NHS pensions are great but have been cut down over the years with current schemes. It's a defined benefit scheme so it's more like you're paying for a subscription and what you get is not a direct link of what you put in unlike other kinds of pension. Also, from what I gather, the sweet spot for NHS pensions is for low to mid earners. For high earners, its not as good as portrayed. Whether you have a SIPP or LISA depends on your individual circumstance. If the NHS pension would sustain your required lifestyle in later years, then that'd suffice. For mid-high earners, a combination of government pension, SIPP and LISA can be a good mix as they all have areas where they excel the most. |

ukay2: I am putting the amount l stated in both for the past 3 years...
l will ring HMRC for adjustments next week.....
thanks A SIPP is also a good investment vehicle. Yes, you'd have to wait but it's highly tax efficient. You get 20% tax relief initially. And if you're a higher or additional rate payer, you can claim an extra 20 or 25% respectively. For a higher rate payer, youre effectively putting £12 to get £20 which is then invested. For S&S ISA, what are you invested in - stocks, bonds, funds or a mix? |

1.LISA...£4000
2.STOCKS AND SHARES ISA....£20,000
Start today to make good use of them.. The total ISA allowance is 20k. It's cumulative of all forms of ISA held. Hence if 4k is put in a LISA, you can only put 16k in a S&S ISA |

With reference to this thread I made when I knewly moved to Canada.
I have some gist for you. Eight months after I moved to Canada I was able to taste pussy, thanks to a beautiful Uganda lady.
Lemme tell you, when I was in Nigeria, I used to hear that oyibo dey rush black men. When I got here I realised it was all fallacies and lies. Oyibo women doesn't give a fvck about black men except you are a celebrity, rich athletic or sports personality or one rich popular dude.
The same pussy I change every week in Nigeria was what took me Eight months to see here.
There's money here once you are working and there are Jobs everywhere in Canada, but working without pussy sometimes is not really cool.
Some of them can be tempting, while I was waiting for bus at a bus stop, two girls were dancing and shaking yansh for me, not that they like or want you, but they just wanna do it. Just ignore them and swallow saliva, you will be alright Lol @op... should be more civil in your language. Loud it to folks on NL who've never seen airport but keep repeating 'why not go abroad and marry thinking those abroad are saints' cos they think black men are sought after abroad because of their big gbola. There are ways for easier access but no one wants a problematic lady. Fact is sex is cheap everywhere even moreso abroad but there are cultural differences moreso in the ways folks date. Also, poverty in 9ja cheapens sex. That many African nations are not doing well and there are a number of struggling black folks abroad does not the wrong perception the average person has about Africans |

Queendera: the problem is not the guys but the married women.
A single guy is not under any obligation or oath to love and cherish.
He's not bound by any law and made no promises.
It is the women who should honor the contract of marriage. So she's to blame.
Honestly, I can't blame a single guy in this situation but the married women who have lost all respect for their marriage and home.
I mean, her marriage is only worth a few handbags? Quite sad... the single guy would be revelling in his 'prowess' The annoying thing is the reason behind cheating. She earns enough to cover her expenses well with something to spare. This is the time they should be talking about building for the future. |

When you get back to Nigeria you can apply from here without her. Her stay in UK after study is consequent upon you for now. Dont let her know any of your plans concernig staying after completion of studies. She can find a legal loophole to stay if you become aggressive and confrontational. Also do not get her pregnant. I see you understand the system. Main issue is she not getting pregnant. That muddies the water. Trying to divorce in the UK is messy. She might turn the story around to find a loophole that suits her. |

She's still explaining stuff to you now because she's yet to find her feet in UK. Wait make she get her ground well, you go see shege. Before you take your woman abroad, study and know what she's capable of doing first if not all your efforts will eventually end in premium tears. Am in a state of confusion right now because am preparing to travel as well. My wife is very faithful and she's not the cheating type but I'm afraid Because she can be rude and arrogant most times. Am afraid she might use the advantages over there against me. So she might remain here with my kids while I hustle there and bring home. As for your wife. Pet her small small, tell her you guys should come for few weeks holiday in Nigeria. As soon as you guys enter, deceive her and make sure you collect the money she has, try to get hold of the passport as well and move back alone. You can divorce her if you like but don't take her there again. If you see yourself living abroad for a longtime, then the earlier you plan towards getting your family over the better. Except you want to have another family over there. P.s. it's futile trying to just seize her passport. There are cleaner ways of going about it |

Insultme: Thanks for the advise. You're all going to hear the end of the story when the time comes. @op, its a tricky one being married and I understand your cold feet. Truth is that people hardly change. She's cheating for frivolities and likely to continue which would only bring you more pain. She earns more than enough to cover her reasonable expenditure. If she is not pregnant yet, avoid getting her pregnant until you've made your mind up. My take would be this lady is unlikely to change and it's best and easier to part ways now than 10yrs in. All you'd lose now is the heartbreak. You don’t have a house to give up or child support to pay which would likely be the case 10yrs in. The ultimate decision lies with you- split or try to resolve your rship. How you go about confronting her needs to be looked thru. P.s. did she show signs of materialism or infidelity when you guys dated? |

2. The OP fell for the "I'm lonely" trap — Doesn't she have family members, trusted friends etc in Nigeria — You failed the shit test, because you should have proffered a better alternative.
3. The OP is passive-agressive & can't take decisive actions.
4. The OP has already made up his mind to continue with this situationship due to sunk cost fallacy — He's scared of losing his "investment"
5. In conclusion, no matter the advice you give him here, he won't adhere to it, until he gets burnt 🔥 in reality.
Au revoir! Good points in all. But I disagree with no 2. As a young chap, if he had serious misgivings about moving with his wife, then the question becomes why get married to her in the first place? She would have still been cheating in Nigeria. Even if he delayed her coming by 5 yrs + 2 kids, nothing still stops her from being randy. The idea of coming as a young couple is because if they work together as a team, they can push farther faster |

The best way to sustainably reduce reproduction rate is by good access to education and lifting people out of poverty If the parents had the opportunity, they'd have made better choices. How much 'hardwork' would make a good number escape poverty. They cant afford health, education, own properties e.t.c There's a reason why the very wealthy would always say making the first $1m was the hardest. Followedby by 10 and then 100 It's the reason why western nations have devised means to help level the field- a merit-based system, higher tax rates for the rich and benefits for the poor, affordable universal education e.t.c even at that, the facts still remain and there's widening inequality. There's a reason Jesus said: For to him who has will more be given; and from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away. — Mark 4:25, This is a fundamental principle of life |

saladinnoir: Wealth can not be created without opportunity.
The economy is in the hands of those that control the means of production and capital. The nigerian people have neither.
The people can not be productive in an incondusive enviroment. Developed countries have the highest amount of wealthy people because they are already developed and have the capacity to create wealth.
The economy makes the people not vice versa.
The government, upper classes and capitalists are not the people and do not represent them or their best interest. And so the nigerian economy is not geared to benefit the nigerian people.
Businesses in developed countries are heavily subsidized. Their goverments frequently bail them out of financial crises. A lot of foreign companies would have collapsed with out goverment intervention through out the years True. Fact is wealth is many times a mix of opportunity, the right environment, hardwork and some favour (some would say luck or happenstance) Nigeria as structured today leaves very little opportunity for her poor masses to escape poverty |

Yusufisraelj: Brilliant
@Mekuseh11
Poverty is a reflection of your own inadequacies in thinking, discipline and implementation, you can change that when you decide to become better. The issue of marriage is a different ball game all together, a person who decides to marry a poor person who isn't lazy and is willing to learn, hasn't really married a poor person with time that will change, but a person who marries a lazy poor person is in trouble, this is what should be emphasized, so also if you marry a rich lazy person, money fit run dry. Cheers Not true. The best chance of being a millionaire is by being born into a family that has millions. This has been the case for ages. Those who have are more likely to get more until a treshold is reached. Yes, we like to celebrate those who went from grass to the top. We forget these are rare outliers. Ideas are cheap, very cheap. Everybody has one. Warren Buffet said the main reason he was a billionaire was because he was born in America, and born in a time when knowledge of modern finance was a treasured asset. Point is most of the reason why alot of Nigerians are poor is no fault of theirs. Over the last 10yrs, many have been pushed into poverty irrespective of their effors simply because running the economy are doing a bad job. |

Such nonsense can't happen in Nigeria, not even in 100 years from now. Na oyibo people dey mum.u themselves. Yes, people always find loopholes in every law but generally good laws serve a purpose. Those laws were willfully put in place to fix certain issues. Never be too sure. There is a reason why we speak English today. There is a reason why an overwhelming majority of Nigerians believe their ancestors who lived before the coming of the white man or Fulani conquest are in hell fire. I can assure you that 100 years ago, an average Brit would have said same thing you're saying or would have never imagined a PM of Indian roots. |

flokii: Like for example.. a house I bought with my money, one woman will now ask me to leave just because she is a woman. For why na.
This is why you see some Nigerian men going back to kill their wives and then kill themselves in those European countries. What sort of favoritism and gender bias cum inequality is that? Any woman can accuse a man of rape without evidence and they'll bundle the man into jail whereas a man can't accuse woman of same and get justice.
I know those laws are targeted to erode the institution called marriage and promote homosexuality, chidbirth out of wedlock and whatnot. You're making assumptions. When many of these laws came into place, homosexuality was not a thing. You still have not answered- how and why did these laws come into place? If these laws were truly against the will of the majority, they'd likely have been changed. Similar to the child protection laws abroad. I've not seen any Brit that wants to exchange what they have to the the system we have in Nigeria. |

The Nigerian lady has shown her true colour.. she used to guy to cross over to Europe, got trained to be a nurse and now feels no need to have the man around again so can go about sleeping with whoever she likes. It's a pity. The question you should be asking is how did these laws come about. Not too long ago, women could not vote in the UK. They changed those laws as they saw fit. Its like someone in Asaba asking why those in Kano go to mosque on Friday. They made the laws themselves and see them fit for purpose. You'd hardly see any Brit who wants to exchange their marriage laws to what we have in Nigeria. |

Thank God it was in the US the person made his 450k dollars and not in the UK
Uk na your mate, they no born any immigrant in the UK to make £300 k cash in even 15 years self more less 4..
Even the British prime minister earns just about 150k per year and tax is 45 percent for him . ( tax rate in the UK is 20 percent from between £12570- 50720PA, then its 40 percent tax BTW £50721- £150,000.)
So if the prime.minister of a country is been taxed of up to 50 percent and he hasn't even paid his rent, living expenses, etc where he wan save £300k from more less an immigrant with a less paying job
Like they never born that immigrant that would dream of making such big amount here in the UK.
I have never been to the US before but wages there are extremely higher than the UK albeit higher taxes but real good emphasis on high wages First, I think the initial post thst led to this thread was an exaggeration. Secondly, we know the US pays higher than the UK but the later comes with more safetynets. Thirdly the salary for MPs is outside the cost of running their office which is deductible. While the salary is reasonable, they claim on most of their expenditure. Lastly, there are many immigrants who'd boast greater than £ 300k within 5 yrs of being in the UK. Of course, this money is in assests and not in cash cos those who rake in that much know better than leave it in cash. |

@op 250m i.e 333k usd is good money in any part of the world. It's not easy to with regular jobs.
The main difference between 9ja and western nations is more equitable access to building blocks of financial freedom. Access to cheap credit e.t.c.
There would have been more investment from diasporeans into the nation if the country's economy and currency was on the right track. Many Indians have done this. They take cheap loans from western nations and invest back home where the room for growth is enormous but with arguably higher risks. |
