InesQor! ...and lol@Muskeeto. MNwankwo is the #1 with uncanning ability to 'appear' out of nowhere. Toba thanks ![]() |
plaetton: This is from an older threadI'm struggling to find the words to express just how much I love this quote. Very true and can be applied to not just religion, but other aspects of the black mans existence. Plaetton, one of my quotes of the year. Very well articulated sir. |
Reminds me of this thread: Mother Theresa As A Great Christian / Catholic Example :: Fable Or Fact? https://www.nairaland.com/585132/mother-theresa-great-christian-catholic#7523815 |
https://www.nairaland.com/1080557/afghan-girl-beheaded-refusing-prostitution This Front Page Thread Should be in the Neutral Religion Section. Afghans are not Arabs, They are Persians and Native Afghans...nor is Islam Native to their People This thread is being protected by the Muslim Extremist Mods. Allow me to defend my Great Pashtun people from this Barbaric Ideology..And This Savage Religion. Move this Thread to the Neutral Religious Section of the Forum
The thread was moved from celebrities to islam by the admin, out of our jurisdiction here sir. Furthermore, according to Seun's rules I think it does belong there. I'm sure if you post there within their rules you'll be fine.@logicboy, ...logicboy was right. |
Truthislight, brother, no wahala. I wasn't trying to be smart. Its good for you guys to ask about our decisions and offer suggestions on what you think may be better. Mods are not perfect and will make mistakes so you guys need to help us keep this place conducive for all ehn. Tank you . |
truthislight: i just feel it was a wrong timing and also an injustice has been done, unfairly in this context to people that endeavored to be very objective as it were on that thread, such a west of time and resources is discouraging.Believe me when I say I understand. It is certainly not fair to the 1 or 2 people who stayed on topic - happens almost everytime any thread is locked. So what exactly would you prefer I do? with the posts, with the thread and with the offending posters including logicboy? |
Logicboy03: Thanks for the bold.No wahala, happy weekending. truthislight: hmmm!Lol. Brother wetin now? ![]() |
Logicboy03:Why are you bothering yourself with what he may or may not 'claim' in the future? The reason is simple, insults/abuse are against NL rules. |
truthislight: i really think that if some one post with offensive words that should get the person a ban and not the thread.Good points bro. -The closing was 'belated' because I didn't see it on time, it should've been closed much sooner. -I closed the thread rather than ban the poster because it wasn't just one person insulting, there were several. I would've had to hide practically most of the posts on the thread. It doesn't 'look good' when so many posts are hidden. -So no, simply using foul language will not earn a closure or else 90% of the threads here will be closed. -If you really want to continue the discussion simply open a new thread and post a link in the first post refering to that thread. Cheers. |
Omo Alata: MFM Streatham, London - on a normal Sunday (it differs during thanksgiving Sunday) Na wah oh lol esp the last part ![]() |
^Posters will always "claim" whatever suits their itch for that day and the mods cannot help them scratch it. |
I don't understand the point of halloween. And this is not based on the "it has pagan roots" etc etc or else there is plenty in our lives (christians) we would not celebrate at all. Not everything has to be "scriptural" before you ban or not ban it. My argument is on the surface, basic instinct - what is fun in the idea of celebrating terror, death, gore, blood, evil, horror, darkness etc etc?? I just don't see it. Our rational sensibilities would tell us that its odd - if not for society has accepted it as 'normal'. Someone will say its just fun for the kids to dress up & get candy - can't I give my kids candy without dressing them up in ridiculous looking costumes in the name of whatever? ^just my 2cents. |
Logicboy03: Jesoul,Are you really asking that? |
Different kind of topic, I like. My church is pentecostal (for the most part) On a typical sunday: -We start off with singing first (praise/worship songs) -Prayers -Greetings (everyone greets those around with handshakes, hugs, kisses etc) I love this part ![]() -Announcements/upcoming events etc -Offering during which the choir typically sings (sometimes its a video or a solo or a cd) -Sermon (my fav part cos my pastor is straight-up awesome )-Closing songs/prayer - and after service is over chatting with friends in the pews ![]() |
Thread locked for obvious reasons. For fellas like yourselves, one would expect a much more mature debate. |
musKeeto: testing... testing... JeSoul can you read me? :-)lol. Loud and clear. Over. ![]() |
Russ Wilson loves Tom Brady! Got owned by a rookie
lol. Actually it wasn't Brady's fault, almost any ragtag QB that faces the hideous Patriot secondary will look like a gun slinger. The Seahawks are 27th in O for crying out loud. Brady made a couple mistakes but 23-10 in the 4th and the defense should've been able to hold the game. The Pats defense has been average for a while but it gets overlooked because the offense is so potent, blowing out the opposition. But when the offense stalls the woeful defense becomes more apparent. I'm curious to see how Belichick will try to address the issue. Ps. I got ur email add jare, just lazy lol. Tks! As for Peyton's record comeback, I'm honestly thrilled for him. You always like to see these guys bounce back from injury and do well - and stick it to the Colts ![]() |
toba: U must be insane for making such comment. If u feel so strongly about ur point, why dont create a separate section for atheist and tell them to stop trolling this section and joining issues with christians and God?Toba pls, no insulting on the mod/complaint thread of all places. Logicboy03: "Prototype" on facebook. And this makes a difference how? are we supposed to telekinetically read your mind & see a picture as to what your final product/content will be? Like I said, post a religion oriented thread/topic/blog etc and no one will disturb you. muskeeto2: No wahala, Ma. Happy weekend.and right back at you brotha. |
muskeeto2: Calm down Logic boy.Lol. You're right, and those are all religion oriented - that is the common denominator btw them all hence they're left here where they belong. Again @logicboy, you advertised your website in the OP as "politics, religion ( atheism), sports and movies". The description in the picture says "A professional media outlet that focuses on the various aspects of modern urban life". Again - what does this have to do with religion? Open your religion flavored thread/website and no one will disturb you. Remember your own words - you are not entitled to do as you please around here. |
Logicboy03: Why would you move my thread?^Description on the thread reads: "Hi everyone, your favourite atheist comes with good news.^If this does not connote "general" then what does? the religion section is not your personal ad space just becos you happen to be an active member here. |
toba: WAM, How religious orientated is this topic? it should have been opened in the Narailand section not so?True & moved. Thanks for bringing it to our attention Toba. How body now? ![]() |
montelik: jesoul is trying to engage you in a discussion about policies, ideas e.t.c. yet you keep rebuffing her either refusing to co-operate (i no go read am) or frustrating her by just repeating your standard cliches. compromise and engage in a more in-depth discussion. don't behave as you claim the GOP does. lolYou are minding him? hot air & no substance ![]() When you really dig down and remove all the fluff, you'll find that many of the neo-liberal inclination cannot defend their emotionally-charged beliefs. "Free" healthcare, "Free" education", "Free" this & "Free" that. How can someone who has ever balanced their own checkbook talk about "free" anything? na magic? abi dem get money tree for backyard wey dem dey pluck? I saw a bumper sticker the other day: "The Problem with Socialism is you'll eventually run out of other people's money" |
Goshen360: As much as I agree with your thought, I think you are NOT doing a good job in the right manner, following the rules. In fact, this thread should NEVER be attended to by ANY moderator or even the owner of the forum AND should be LOCKED. The reason is, there is a complain thread ALREADY existing to this effect and you KNOW the RULES. Hitherto,ROTFLOL @the last part. Dude God2man: @Jesoul and mamustwac, i know Jesoul is a christian, mamustwac is an atheist, fine. No problem.Oga, I'm not quite sure what you want me or MMW to do. This is Seun's forum and we are merely enforcing his rules as volunteers. What you may deem offensive may be free-speech for someone else- in which case there's nothing the mods can do. This place is full of diverse people for diverse backgrouds, and as such you'll find diverse points of view. However, for the real abusive/vulgar language that is unacceptable - you do realize the mods do not see every single thread? right? If someone is being abusive it is your duty as a poster to report it, either via the "report" link or the complain thread on top of the page. Anytime an abusive post/poster is brought to our attention we deal with it right away. So report it and help us keep this place clean & conducive for profitable discussions. Thank you my brother & Godbless ![]() *ps, I'm not locking your topic-yet-just to poke at Goshen ![]() |
muskeeto2: Wow... well... a good reason to face the rest of my exams and stay off Nl....Lol. Goodluck ehn, nothing but A's okay ![]() MacDaddy01: Public apology to Jesoul! (and MMC)no problemo dude, issall good in this hood . Thanks. |
i no go read am . . . . go report me to babangida if you can i no go read am
lol. You afraid of having your opinion changed? or at the very least, informed by real & actual facts? ![]() how about a good bill, a comon sense bill, a moral bill. is bipartisanship now the goal? in an era when the other side is determined to frustrate you? huh? thier number one goal is to defeat obama and you talk of bipartisan bill? their ideas were incorporated into the bill yet they refused to vote for it. these are people who will sponsor a bill and once obama agrees to it, they will vote against a bill they introduced. bipartisan? GoodluckIt is true there is a section of the GOP that will always seek to frustrate Obama no matter what - I have news for you - this is politics! and likewise there is also a section of the Democratic party that does the same thing to republicans. It is up to the one who claims he is a leader to break through the partisan BS and get things done. I'm sorry, I find the excuse of 'the other party didn't let me do it' extremely shallow. You're the president of the free-world! your skin should be thicker than the rest of us, and coffee you drink should be stronger than the rest of ours - you're not supposed to be average and bogged down by average issues - LEAD in the face of opposition! that's what you were elected to do. scott brown is a common sense senator. i give it to him, but aunty Liz is betterOf course she's better. A woman who will vote with the left 100% of the time. The very kind that is holding this country back (yeye woman might even win self). too much fox newsI watch FN just about the same as MSNBC, CNN is my major news network. Its the only way to get the whole story. Rachel Maddow was talking about voter fraud last night, actually made good sense. Unlike you, I'm not afraid to listen to the 'opposition'. the middle east has always . . and will always loathe the west. the reasons are complex and date as far back as the rise of the ottoman empire about 600yrs ago. You can even extend it to the Greco-Persian wars about 2300-2500 yrs ago(300-500BC) . . get some history lessons . .for $500.00 i'll teach you FREEI don't disagree with you here - BUT it was your highness Obama that said he would fix US foreign relations - I'm merely demanding accountability from him. honest wealth is a blessing . . . get down to the details of vulture capitalism . . .your mitt romney is a master at it.You're welcome again . Honest wealth is a blessing ehn? going by the way 'the rich' are villified by majority of the left one would think it was evil itself to be rich.this kind love is giving me epilepsyWell, I cannot be held responsible for how you take it ;P ![]() |
musKeeto: Apologies Ma for the belated appreciation. You welcomes, I'm here for my posters. muskeeto2: am I banned?Unfortunately you are. 'Nairaland' (a supermod) banned you, reason listed is "Trolling. Derailing a thread by posting an off-topic ‘garri’ comment" - you should be able to see the details on your profile. It expires a week from today. Sawrry dude. |
Now lemme answer this hot air man...
I am determined not to read the link. I hate copy and paste.
Gerraway jor... I'm here doing charity by offering you studies that shoot all kinds of holes in your healthcare theory. Anyways, the bottomline is one of the major problems is the american lifestyle. With a 1/3 obesity rate that is projected to hit ~50% in a decade - and this will exponentially increase healthcare costs and the budget will NOT be able to keep up. I'm trying to show you that you're one-line-fix-all belief of simply throwing more money at a problem will NOT solve it. I have frequently spoken about the other massive problems with the US HC system - from greedy HMOs to drug companies in business for sickness to inefficient govt. agencies to selfish insurance companies - there's plenty of fixing needed. Give me something from your brain.^so hows that from my 'brain'? :p go and read and learn jor http://www.cnn.com/2012/09/18/health/us-obesity/index.html?hpt=hp_c2 You think in a fragmented place like Washington you can get the perfect bill you want? Naive. There's no such thing as a perfect bill, but there's a bi-partisan one. Bipartisan, that must be such a strange word to you ![]() Wow!!! Now can you tell your leadership Romney to tell his friends in the hawkish party to stop beating up drums of war? Especially is biggest fan in Israel, Bibi Netanyahu. Can he? My leadership. I'm so glad Obama just ignore them with style. My leadership? I have only one leader, my husband. Deliver your own message yaself jor ![]() You voted for mccain, voted senator brown, will vote for romney . . . this kind independent. independent bill oreilly style . Hmmmm.Simples. Read up on the voting record of my boy Scott Brown - voted ~50% for democratic bills in his short few years in congress. This is indicative of a mindset that I share - that both sides have good ideas and we should throw party favors aside and come together for a bill that'll benefit all. Not my way or the highway Obama & his foes the republicans. I'm independent and I lean right - but I'm not afraid to see sense in a bill from the left like repealing DADT. Its not rocket science. The irony in all this is that at the very heart & base definition, Liberalism is a fantastic worldview, portions of which I subscribe to. Its the modern incarnation of it that has become a sort of beast that wants to control every aspect of the human experience. Tell that to Osama bin laden. Tell that to gadaffi, tell that to the top al-Qaeda leadership that has been decimated in the past 3 yrs. tell that to the Somali pyrates. And yet the ME hatred of the US has not subsided, instead its at an all time high. Plus why taking credit for Gaddafi? I thought that was Nato-led? with the French at the helm? see yourself. You believe liberal are all about govt right? Well I gotta tell ya, liberals are for efficient governance. It's not about size but efficacy. really dude? REALLY? efficiency? I just choked on my corn-flakes. I'll believe it when I see it. Liberals don't begrudge the rich, we loath vulture capitalism.YES THEY DO! at least a good majority of them. A good chunk of the occupy movement were frustrated people upset they don't have as much stuff as their neighbor. And If we worship the same God you'll agree with me that Christ loathed the vulture capitalists of his day. He hardly had any kind word for them. Remember how he explained thier chances of making heaven? Camel passing thru the needle has a better chance. See? I understand people trying o be mega rich, but I fail to understand when they do so at the expense of others. But I'm guessing this will be a nice topi for another thread.stop twisting scripture. Jesus condemned them for their spiritual state - not because of their wealth. Geez dude, how many rich people are recorded in the bible as being righteous? It is obviously wrong to take advantage of weaker people, expoliting them for your own success, there is no christian that will disagree with that. Your stance is good, it just seems on the bigger scale more people are simply jealous of "the rich" because they are not, hence all this hoopla. Geez, money is not everything. Finally, thank you for spending my limited time.Lol, you're welcome. I basically had to pyschologically twist your arm to participate it worked. Love u pres! ![]() |
^lol, 2 of you are not serious.
Good enough to show up at your convention and make speeches. Good enough to swing poll % just by endorsing your party's candidate. I think the last good president they produced was Reagan and that's still hit and miss with some people
Ahn ahn...shey na magic wand the pesin dey carry? lol. In today's political climate, its tough to see one person being able to weild that kind of power & sway votes just by smiling. We can't underestimate the power of charisma - something that Obama has used in place of substance ![]() I like your analogy. However here is the thing you can't divorce these present problems from Bush's failures as a president! Its much easier to destroy than to rebuild. A sizeable amount of this money has gone into bailouts and trying to stimulate the economy not so? While I agree Barry has not been the most financially prudent president at least I'm convinced his intentions are genuine to an extentIndeed you can't, you're 100% right. But the penchant to consistently chant "blame Bush" for every single problem will not suffice at all. You're also right Obama spent a ton in all kinds of stimulus packages - but there's another school of thought that prefers to tighten the belt rather than break the bank. Think of your own personal life & finances. If you were broke, would the first thought that came to you be to go & borrow more money to spend on 'investments' that may or may not return? No. I would first cut unecessary spending, cut cable, park my car & ride a bike, switch to ramen noodles for dinner instead of filet mignon etc etc. If not for the republican pushing so hard, Obama would not have included any cuts whatsoever the last time they haggled over raising the debt ceiling. I really don't like the way he spends with such extravagence it would make 50cent blush. What of the subsequent two years? You of all people should know about the 7 fat cows 7 lean cows. Obama started well. Hahahaha both Bushes where not exactly the brightest crayons in the box but I see where you are going with thisagain, good leaders bring people together - they break teeth, bend nails and eat crow to make sure they accomplish their job - they don't whine & cry that someone else is sticking a foot in the door. Obama frequently alienates the opposition and then cries they don't want to work with him - really dude? Give 'n take bro, work on your wooing & negotiating skills. You ran on the platform of fixing the divide in DC yet the country has never been more divided than under his tenure....I suppose that'll be all the republicans fault abi? and not a reflection of his weakness? I respect the honesty and I'm convinced without a reasonable doubt that Romney woulda done much worse in the same circumstanceAnd what convinces you? that he has an (R) beside his name? despite his cold, unappealing exterior & frequent flipflopping, one cannot deny the man has accomplished a LOT in his life and going by that, I am sure he could've done a decent job. |
Plappville my sister (how body now? )@topic, interesting. I'm going to agree with Joagbaje's take on this - at least mostly. The pastor was wrong for indirectly 'calling you out' with an entire sermon. He should've come to you in private to discuss any issues/reservations he may have had. Also the pastor's wife should've kept what was discussed in confidence - or at the very least if she told her husband, she shouldn't have revealed the identity of the person. That said, sister Plappville, there are certain times when its best to be diplomatic and refrain from voicing what you may truly think/believe for the sake of harmony among the brethren. Romans 14: The Danger of Criticism 1Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong. 2For instance, one person believes it’s all right to eat anything. But another believer with a sensitive conscience will eat only vegetables. 3Those who feel free to eat anything must not look down on those who don’t. And those who don’t eat certain foods must not condemn those who do, for God has accepted them. 4Who are you to condemn someone else’s servants? Their own master will judge whether they stand or fall. And with the Lord’s help, they will stand and receive his approval. 5In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable. 6Those who worship the Lord on a special day do it to honor him. Those who eat any kind of food do so to honor the Lord, since they give thanks to God before eating. And those who refuse to eat certain foods also want to please the Lord and give thanks to God. 7For we don’t live for ourselves or die for ourselves. 8If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. 9Christ died and rose again for this very purpose—to be Lord both of the living and of the dead. 10So why do you condemn another believer? Why do you look down on another believer? Remember, we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. 11For the Scriptures say, “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will confess and give praise to God.b’” 12Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God. 13So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall. 14I know and am convinced on the authority of the Lord Jesus that no food, in and of itself, is wrong to eat. But if someone believes it is wrong, then for that person it is wrong. 15And if another believer is distressed by what you eat, you are not acting in love if you eat it. Don’t let your eating ruin someone for whom Christ died. 16Then you will not be criticized for doing something you believe is good. 17 For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18If you serve Christ with this attitude, you will please God, and others will approve of you, too. 19So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up. 20Don’t tear apart the work of God over what you eat. Remember, all foods are acceptable, but it is wrong to eat something if it makes another person stumble. 21It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything else if it might cause another believer to stumble. 22 You may believe there’s nothing wrong with what you are doing, but keep it between yourself and God. Blessed are those who don’t feel guilty for doing something they have decided is right. 23But if you have doubts about whether or not you should eat something, you are sinning if you go ahead and do it. For you are not following your convictions. If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning. From the above chapter, we learn that it is perfectly okay for 2 christians to disagree and yet both of them can be right about their beliefs. Your voicing your opinion in the midst of that group may have come across as "looking down on" or "condemning" and the scriptures tell us in the bolded part above to "keep your beliefs between yourself & God" for the sake of others & harmony & peace in the church. Notice that this is NOT about whether you are right or wrong about the issue but rather aiming for peace & respect for fellow believers who may choose to believe something different from you. Cheers girl . |
