This is quite possibly one of the most inspiring stories I've ever read. To go what you went through, to have such a positive and adventurous outlook on life, to remain such a fountain of happiness, to retain your fervor and even double your thirst for life, to keep looking so beautiful and gorgeous and to keep the praises of God and His faithfulness on the tip of your tongue . . . nothing short of AMAZING. You are truly a remarkable soul. I am incredibly blessed by your courage. May you live to be a source of inspiration to generations across the globe. May your life serve as a testimony of triumph over tragedy. May your loving parents, family and friends never cease to have joy. Infact, let everthing that you touch, everything & everyone that you're surrounded by be influenced by that incredible life inside of you - it will never run dry. And I pray that the day comes swiftly when you will be able to walk, jump and run again. Amen. |
Happy BirtghDay Emmyk. Here's a group toast to many more years filled with joy in your life. |

My Steelers did kick a$$ too. My suprise for the season has been the Lions and the flops so far have been the Eagles choi Vick has just been carrying last
Mehn . . . I don't even know where to start on those eagles. As soon as they were labeled the NFL's dream team, I knew they were finished. Too much pressure and expectations they're not living up to at all. Vick has to be one of the most undisciplined QBs in the game. Stacking up rushing yds is nice but that's not your job as the QB. Distribute the damn rock and get everyone involved - win as a team - instead of attempting bravado plays that lead to turnovers and endless injuries. Steelers and Pats handled bizniz jor beating the Jets is always nice but I don't place too much on this. Me I'm waiting for the playoffs before I rub pepper in their eye. Nobody is saying anything about the 0-5 Colts?? See how condition has made crayfish to bend Where is that yeye boy RikkyGenerator? |
Oranges (lemons, grapefruits, sodas/soft drinks) have high acidity - especially if the fruits are not fully ripe. It is eroding your enamel (outer layer on the surface of the teeth) and thereby leading to pain whenever you eat them. If you must continue to eat these fruits, you can try these tips- 1- Eating very ripe oranges etc these are lower in acidity and will not hurt as much, if they hurt at all 2- Rinsing your mouth with water after taking them 3- Change your toothpaste to one that refortifies sensitive teeth like you have 4- Cut back on sodas and soft drinks so your teeth can regain some body 5- Cut back on sour candies and acidic foods in general Here's some more advice I got from a website: http://www.webmd.com/oral-health/healthy-teeth-10/tooth-enamel-protection How Can You Protect Tooth Enamel From Erosion?Goodluck! |
Maxpro, In regars to your question, sometimes dreams have significance, other times they dont. As much as in-laws are a huge block to weigh when considering marriage, do not let them be the deciding factor. There are many marriages flourishing today inspite of unhappy in-laws. As long as u both are firm in your union, it'll be tough for outside parties to sway you. So i say again, don't be hasty & don't give up too easily. You don't want to look back down the road and have regrets. And also take care while taking advice from pastors (and even strangers like myself) be careful the choice comes from your own heart not outside influences. And about the 'how to convert JW article'. While its good to have as much info as possible, it will probably be better to go about this naturally. I mean you are engaged to her. Let ur love for her (if it is indeed strong enough) guide you by Gods grace and by the holy spirit. Both of you have to want each other bad enough to forsake all else to make it work. And if you're thinkin about what may have been with ur ex then you need to really sit down, look into your heart and see what color it really is. Your fiance deserves total love and committment just as much you do. If you find you're not willing to put in the work and sacrifice it will require, then its better for her and you that you move on. I always advocate- if you're not ready to lay down even your life for the person you're about to marry then think twice and look within. You're a christian? Then trust God will lead you, trust the peace or lack of it in your heart, trust her actions or lack of it and trust your love for her or lack of it. Above all, just be sure and convinced in your own heart. And no matter what, it will still be well with you. Godbless brother. |
buzugee: buzugee:Buzugee. That head on your shoulders . . . is screwed on right, to the right degree, to the right angle and to the right direction. Very well articulated views dude. Kudos. |
Martian:Ah! I see you know your NFL perhaps you may be eating a bit of your words after Tebows nice showing this afternoon? lol. He will have a nice NFL career. Many many QB sensations from college do not translate to sensational NFL qbs. But he still has time and has the work ethic to at least be decent. And when you have squash puppies like Jason Campbell being starters . . . common Tebow can certainly start in the league.Anyways . . . I can talk NFL forever which team (if any) do you support? (lemme see if you even have mouth to talk ) I'm not talking about a situation like Tebow's moms', I mean severe mental retardation like Minamata(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minamata_disease)disease diagnosed by this kind of prenatal tests. As Justcool said, it comes down to how one chooses to apprehend life and the world around us. Some of us have chosen to govern our choices by more than just the physical. Will I abort such a fetus? It may be yes or no. When faced with that choice, I will look at the physical evidence, I will also consider the spiritual 'evidence' and I will make my decision. So while my default is to choose life, I will not rule out any and all chances of an abortion for such cases as you listed. Cheers bro. |
Maxpro, sir you're welcome. I wish you well. Continue to hope, pray and do right by her and it shall be well with you ehn. Godbless. MrHomer, I ask your permission to disengage. I think I've said my bit and need to leave it at that. Thanks though. |
^Nope not at all sir. |
Nice topic Martian. Justcool has said a lot. Honestly i see the 'intellectual' case to say yes, and it is a strong one. Would i personally do it? No. Because I simply couldn't bring myself to take a life under those cirumstances. Now this is interesting because i fully supported the abortion of that 9yr old brazilian girl whose pregnancy was threatning her life. In short, her fetus was killed that she might live. And she & her mother were excommunicated by the catholic church for doing it - nonsense if you ask me. Anyways, another case, you may have heard of Tim Tebow- famous college quarterback (now nfl player with Denver). His mother was strongly advised to abort him by all the medicals professionals at risk of death. She refused, citing her faith. She gave birth to a healthy boy who has turned out to be a great person. Point is the professionals aren't always right. Deciding to go ahead and have the baby will be erring on the side of caution and life - thats the side i'll pick. |
ugbo:The poster is a christian and asked for advice along those lines. If you find christian beliefs 'disgusting' that is your certainly your perogative. Cheers. |
^Offtopic post deleted by me. Please do try and stay within the topic. Thanks. Globexl, sorry for the very late response . . . globexl:Very interesting . . . particularly the bolded. I would challenge you (as a person of science myself) that both are necessary 'arbiters' of reality. If you don't mind one of these days I go take style open a thread and open floor for you sir . |
@topic, it already exists. CHRISLAM (coincidentally was founded in Nigeria). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrislam Chrislam, is a Nigerian syncretic religion which mixes elements of both Christianity and Islam. Here's their website: http://www.chrislam.org/ |
@Maxpro, the spam-bot tagged/blocked your post with the list (and probably suspended your posting rights too?). I can see but others won't be able to. I've sent a msg to the admin to un-tag it. |
God bless you JESOUL, for "thehomer", you are getting the whole issue wrong. its not about church, court or traditional wedding. wedding is for a day and marraige is for a life time. the issue is about her negative beliefs. CONFLICTING BELIEFS WILL RAISE CONFUSED CHILDREN AND CREATE EMOTIONAL BARRIERS BETWEEN US. let me clarify some sensitive issues. please read carefully. am a working class single and she just graduated in july 2011 and due for NYSC early 2012. we got engaged in april 2011 and she moved into my house on april 6th. we lived under the same roof(only us, no other person in the flat) for 5-months(April 2011 - August 2011). l lived with my fiancee for 5-months and she never followed me to church for one day. 5-MONTHS MAKES UP 20-SUNDAYS. can u imagine. she left for her parents house on Sept 2nd in ogun state to persuade her mum to accept a church wedding & that her relatives can attend the reception. the mum didnt accept. its not about the wedding, its about her extreme negative beliefs. l av accepted a court wedding for the sake of love. she called last week crying on phone that she will change. her elder sister(not a JW) also called me that she will change. THE POINT IS I WANT HER TO EXPRESS THAT CHANGE IN ATTITUDE IN HER ACTIONS BEFORE WE GET MARRIED. she doesnt own her liife to any WATCH TOWER ORGANISATION. THE GOD WE SERVE IS NOT A GOD OF RULES AND REGULATIONS BUT A GOD OF GRACE AND LOVE. l told her that the 1st step is to accept the regular bible then attend church service with me. I LOVE HER SO MUCH AND DONT WANT TO LOOSE HER BUT HOW CAN TWO WORK TOGETHER UNLESS THEY AGREE. AND A WOMAN WILL LEAVE HER FATHER AND MOTHER, CLEAVE TO HER HUSBAND AND THEY WILL BECOME ONE. its so sad & painful but guess its better to move on as JESOUL said; but its just so difficult for me because she's my best friend and closest confidant and all members of my family love her so much. its complicated
My brother I really feel for you. From the way you speak about her and your feelings for her . . . I'll advice you not to give up on her too easily. Pray and continue to talk to her, sometimes all it takes is time and persuation. Maybe you'll need to be physically away or 'seperated' from her for a while to show her you're serious and to also give her the chance to decide for herself if she loves you enough to move forward. You said she already said she'll change, give her a chance to demonstrate it. Its not easy to find someone you call "your best friend & closest confidant", so don't throw it away without a good fight and giving it your best effort. You're the man so you're emotionally stronger - she'll definitely need your help, patience and prayers. and by God's grace it shall be well with you. |
thehomer:You're assuming into evidence 'objects' of compromise that have not been stated . . . some people will call that ojoro ![]() Yes I'm aware of what Jehovah's witnesses believe though I just consider it as outlandish as other religious beliefs. And its not about your beliefs homer. The OP is a christian - and that is what matters here. The incompatiblity of his beliefs with hers - not what you or I think they should be. Though, if she doesn't want to go to his church, then he shouldn't harp on about it. People of very different religious traditions do get along so he should suck it up and accept that she goes to a different church. You're not being reasonable sir. Are you married to a JW? This is not about "getting along". We all live, work and play with people of other faiths and beliefs systems. Being married to one is a whole nother issue. You're building a life, family and future together, you have to have the same beliefs, goals etc in order for the marriage to work. On both extremes of importance - JWs do not celebrate birthdays or take blood. What happens when their future children (or them for that matter) cannot even celebrate their birthday? or gets hurt and needs a blood transfusion? |
There is so much that is so 'christian' in practically everything he said. Very on point piece. Pastor AIO:I've been meaning to open a thread somewhere along these lines titled. Infact this is my cue to do so now . . . and Jobs is so right about being able to connect dots ONLY when you're looking back. When you're in it, it seems like meaningless chaos punctuated by unanswered questions. But on the flip side & at the same time, do the dots always connect? . . . |
buzugee:hehe . . . instead of you to dey vex, downgrade multiple notches to an air-headed barbie oyinbo girl and do something incredible dumb and you sef will be on the news and reality tv circuit. You can ask the Wayans brothers for make-up & costume tips. Or if you want something more permanent, I'm sure MJs ex-doctor (after he gets off his current trial) can probably hook you up with prescription bleaching cream Thank me later.Goodluck and let us know how it goes! |
thehomer:Hmmm . . . what is wrong with a man wanting to ensure unity & harmony in his future home? The ramifications of their predicament will affect much more than just 'whether or not she attends church with him' - it will affect the social, financial, mental, spiritual and emotional aspects of their relationship, not to mention that of their future children. It not just about her 'submitting' to his desire - afterall, a couple has come together and agree before a relationship can move forward. Beyond him just compromising and going to her 'church' (which btw is not possible, you are aware of what JW believe right?), her beliefs will alienate them from his family (even part of her family), friends, social structure etc . . . JWs beliefs by definition are extremely alienating and downright cultish -
From my research witnesses don’t believe in the trinity, celebrate Christmas, celebrate birthdays, celebrate easter, run for political office, donate blood, recite the pledge/national anthem, read the regular bible, believe in the resurrection, relate with other Christians and don’t attend other churches. Tell me what kind of religion is that. Its so amazing and its so painful that the woman l desire to marry has such beliefs. I av a list of 141 things Jehovah witnesses cant do.

thank you jesoul. guess her emotional attachment to her mum is because her dad is a polygamist. even her dad disapproves JW, guess its better to move on. as u said unresolved issues will only grow bigger
At the same time my dear don't give up too easily. If you really love her (and she loves you in return), do your best to find a way before giving up - and hard to say, but it inevitably has to involve her 'leaving' the JW church. Rational, everyday people cannot peacefully co-exist with the radical beliefs of the JWs. |
You sound like a very intelligent guy who has done his homework. You said you both agreed to have a court wedding, I don't think it is wise to go into a marriage without you BOTH making a firm decision about this as it will affect practically every aspect of your life and that of your future children. JW is especially a serious case as you yourself have found out. You must find some way to get through to her, and show her the error of her beliefs. If she loves you she will listen to you, and be willing to change for the sake of your relationship. And if she is not willing to listen or change with time and much pleading - then oga, you must move on. Like you said "marriage is to be enjoyed, not endured" and is for a lifetime. Don't head into it with unresolved problems - they will only grow bigger and lead to more issues. I wish you well. |
armyofone:LOL that's just wrong girl lol.not sure 'white Americans' are willing to vote for 'a very black faced guy'. maybe he will be lucky a bit if his wife and grandparents are white
herman cain is going nowhere. and he knows it. he has no plan to be president. he is a business man. he wants publicity and he has got it. period.
You guys are just dissing and dismissing Uncle Cain like that . . . when the guy go suprise all of una ehn I'm just waiting for primary season to start so that we can start to send all the pretenders home and focus on the read contender. |

Perennial choker that cant even lead his team to the playoffs.Kai honestly. I'm suprised someone who showed so much promise in his first year has so drastically gone downhill since. Its so dissappointing. I do not think he may last in Dallas one more season if this one is a bust - and most likely it will be. By the way whats your position on OchoCinco?? Excited? Was excited - mostly for the character/fun aspect lol. You know the Pats, they don't 'do' superstar players. You come in and blend in and play your role. Islamrules & Harakiri, My dear brothers and distinguished gentlemen, I am certain you're both better than the last few posts. montelik: well . . . for starters, his joke-telling ability is horrendous armyofone:Hehe . . . heard of MacGuyver? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacGyver On a side note, Herman Cain is really picking up some steam. toba:I recall the thread. lol. Very funny lady. Gbam @ characters in bold.Yes gbam, but remember I also said, we're all different and perceive things differently. Small time now I will lock a topic that he will probably find no fault with. That's why we have both sides modding the section. Try to respect him and the work he does even when you don't agree with him. I said in the office today i was going to eat Pounded yam for lunch but now, im fed up already having read the truth. may God continue to bless u and your family. may u live long to see your children's children in the name of Jesus. just keep up the Good work and u shall get your reward AmenI no go refuse blessing so Amen oh! lol. and pounded yam for lunch? ![]() frosbel:You are funny. I gave 3 options and you picked one - some people would call that guilty conscience. There is a big difference between personal abuse directed at me , some so vile and personal that I have shuddered to understand how they could possibly be left unchecked. For the 4th time PRODUCE THESE THREADS!!! where you were insulted and the mods were made aware and did nothing. Is it so hard to do to prove your claim? |
toba:Come now . . . I cannot let you talk about my Mukina without kneeling down first oya prostrate! But on a serious note . . . I looked at Frosbel's thread. I wouldn't have locked it, but I think MMW locked it because of the posters involved, probably foreseeing it would turn into a battle ground. We will all (including mods) not always agree on actions taken - that's just the way it is. But we must try to remain civil and respectful. And again I say to you and Frosbel and others, please please please, POST THE LINKS TO ANY THREADS WHERE YOU HAVE COMPLAINTS ABOUT, don't just cry and make general comments, and give us time to respond, mods are not online 24/7 and cannot see everything happening everywhere. We try to do our best to make this place comfortable for everyone and we will fall short sometimes which is why you guys have to cut us some slack every now and then. Thanks! |
mukina2:3 reasons: 1 they think we're everywhere on every single thread and see every single thing that happens, 2 they themselves are guilty of abusing and maligning others hence would incriminate themselves in the process, 3 they simply have no proof of their claims. I have come to understand that it is not coincidence that 98% of the complaints are made by only 2% of the posters - and this is true all over NL. the first link that toba and frosbel were talking about i have sent to the bin. They wanted you to do the opposite actually lol. Lol you're not the only one sister ![]() |
With apologies to any innocent posts/posters, I cleaned the thread. Pls carry on cordially. Thanks. |
^where's the thread/link? frosbel:For the third time now, submit a link to these threads where the crimes occured or hold your peace. Toba posted a link and Mukina took care of it, you cannot continue to make broad statements the mods don't do anything when you have no proof of it. |
