~ Are church buildings - temples - required?
~ Does God dwell in them?
~ Indeed, does Acts not clearly recount that land and buildings were actually sold to minister to need.
~ Why did they not use the land or convert the buildings for churches?
~ When the brethren had all things in common, was there any record of use of the common purse to build or acquire temples or churches?
they say truth is the first casualty of war. why do you live in a house my brother? you expect the brethren to gather under the sun or rain. is that how they do it where you fellowship?
are you saying every land was sold to minister.

it is obvious you have problem with the understanding of the interpretation and application of scriptures. the bible the letter killeth but the Spirit giveth life

once again remember the scripture i quoted earlier, a man's life does not constitute of the abundance of things he posses. it is always a priviledge to be entusted with money with which you can serve God. never make God regret blessing you with anything. travel lightly

read this Haggai 1:1-15.

“This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: The people are saying, ‘The time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the Lord.
3 Then the Lord sent this message through the prophet Haggai: 4 “Why are you living in luxurious houses while my house lies in ruins? 5 This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Look at what’s happening to you! 6 You have planted much but harvest little. You eat but are not satisfied. You drink but are still thirsty. You put on clothes but cannot keep warm. Your wages disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes!

7 “This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Look at what’s happening to you! 8 Now go up into the hills, bring down timber, and rebuild my house. Then I will take pleasure in it and be honored, says the Lord. 9 You hoped for rich harvests, but they were poor. And when you brought your harvest home, I blew it away. Why? Because my house lies in ruins, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, while all of you are busy building your own fine houses. 10 It’s because of you that the heavens withhold the dew and the earth produces no crops. 11 I have called for a drought on your fields and hills—a drought to wither the grain and grapes and olive trees and all your other crops, a drought to starve you and your livestock and to ruin everything you have worked so hard to get.”

No. I wouldn't. Never have. I think it's a good opportunity to set him straight. Wink

@Nossakhare
Girls, eh? Well I know a man who accepted the gift of expensive new shoes & rent money for months! Then he would not say she was his girlfriend! Or even speak a word correcting her when she was telling other people that they were in love. Embarrassed And he knew that she was under that impression ~ I told him myself. So what now of greedy girls sha

They do these things to capitalise on our national quest to go abroad by all means. Though morally questionable, you don't need to be Richard Branson to see you can make a lot of money from that. If you are in the UK as a Student / Work Permit / EU or UK Citizen Spouse, and you have renewed your Visas lately you will have see the increase in fees from earlier years. Nigerian Embassy here in London will probably do the same if they get the same number of applicants like the UK get in Nigeria.
surprise surprise. nigerian embassy here do this also. i said here before on the nollywood thread they turned down some of our guys from going to nigeria to do a documentary. one of the 3 was a nigerian british passport holder. it tooks us weeks, phone calls, looking for who know who and another set of visa fees to get the visa.

if this is a scam, nigeria is at it too. but knowing my people like i do and the dodgy papers they waka with the people have to do a thorough work and shine thier eyes

lack of fear of God and pure stinginess. do they still use that word?

some of these no tithing people here go into church buildings people they are richer than built and continue to fund. the question i asked the other time is if you say you dont like tithing pls tell us how you want the churches to be funded and pls pls dont tell me that crap of free will offering. you know you never have freewill towards any course other than you.

most donations/gifts end up in the hands of the minders/workers sad .I got a shocker during my second visit to SOS home in Isolo, one of the kids there,a bright 9 yr old girl told me that the juice i bought for them the last time never got to them. She said the nannies drank it. Moreso, you can also opt to Foster a kid/s . . . . . .pay his/her fees in school . God bless us all as we try to make a change in our little ways.
many thanks my dear sister. i discovered something similiar this year. we visited the place unannounced. i was shocked to see the work of renovating the place some good people here paid for not done. the clothes we sent cannot be accounted for either. i have been making attempts to get some reliable and more trust worthy person on board without success.

we have loads of stuff and some money we want to get out before december ending. i will see if we can work on the forstering plans. it would have to be on payment direct to the schools.

i didnt know kids have to go into homes when thier parents are in prison. nigeria is really progressing if you know what i mean. my other half is going to work out something concrete in the next 12 months and i will keep you posted. this has become a passion since we lost my gran 5yrs ago, she always went to the homes to feed and cloth in our names so we never have lack. some of us want to keep that flame and may be one day we may end up having a home of ours named after her. who knows. watch this space

I wonder why this is on the home page. This is futile and irrelevant.

please tell me why you're still here.

While you're at it, why don't you tell us about your South African men - brainless sperm banks. At least, one thing you can't take away from our Nigerian men is that most of them are trustworthy and reliable family men, with high moral values.
this is getting really funny. this is why i think our people will never change. we accept, make excuse for and cover up too much of the stupidity some of our people do.

A-town:
Okay this is just to correct the notion about how corrupt nigeria is.
In my opinion, Nigeria has always been the most corrupt and fraudulent nation in the world.
The only reason there is so much noise right now is because of the internet
The internet only made scamming easier for nigerians and it also enabled foreigners to get a whole load of what the scammers have been doing.
Before the internet they used to be called 19 boys or something like that. The internet only opened it up to every tom privates n harry.
Correct me if i am wrong, but hasn't the National Arts theatre in surulere been sold like 3 times to foreigners,
Rather than refute it, i think its high time it is embraced and maybe the stigma will go down.
Every little kid in Nigeria wants to be a Minister, Senator, and Governor, no one wants be a doctor, engineer and the likes anymore simply because everyone wants to steal money.
It's not even sad anymore, it is just funny. On a recent trip in Lagos, I was stopped by the police and i didn't have my license on me, and told him i didn't have any money. He openly told me that there are ATM's around, i couldn't help but burst out, shameless nation
so true. many nigerians are thieves by default. from the ones that steal plantain and moin moin. there is no excuse for stealing and using what you didnt work for. most of the idiots doing these nonsence now live and sleep in houses built with ill gotten wealth
