Christianity Etc › Re: Is It Proper To Wed The Traditional Way by JJYOU: 5:26pm On Apr 29, 2009 |
jobi rash: so you wont be bless by a pastor? all pastors are crooks in his bible. only him and the PDP are going to the heaven they made for anti God, anti church and anti pastors like the lovely saint kunle. kunle's truth would rather lead to having occultist, babalawos ordain a wedding than have tithes and offerings receiving churches and pastors bless a wedding. what he forgot is that most churches world wide are licenced by countries to actually conduct weddings, birth and deaths registrations as part of their civic responsibilities to the states. i trust you will be telling me there are no biblical basis for governments as if there are verses for nairaland, baptist, pdp, computers, cell phones and televisions which he gladly use without looking for the biblical verses first. i am all for family weddings and all that but you listen to kunle and his slow religious poison at your own peril. lagerwhenindoubt: @jobi rash Tell me one's father who gives his daughter's hand in marriage and blesses the union by asking God seal it according to the scriptures is WRONG???
Getting pastors' blessing is welcomed but heck, it is not a must, a pastor is a pastor,he can be truly anointed the day he marries you or be full of sin like the one who blessed my wedding only to call my wife months after proclaiming undying love (Catholic church somewhere in Somolu) what if this one man band dad is full of sin too. will the marriage be blessed? |

KunleOshob: At least i have done my bit a reveal the truth to you, if you decide to remain in bondage and keep yourself under the yoke of tithing coupled with all the curses attached to it despite the fact that the bible clearly anulls it's practise for christians in Hebrews 7:11&18(wether you like it or not ) that is your problem but remember the bible says in the book of John that the truth would set you free [John 8:32:32And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.] . The bible also says people perish for lack of knowledge, it is my prayer that you come to the true knowledge of the word so that you and others can be be set free from this bondage. saint kunle the only truthfull christian in nigeria. last week it was light you were carrying this week it is truth. i know you always have your interpretation of scriptures try seeing if you can like these and reason with it. there are many people in Gods book you are writting off. i refuse to accept you are the only one standing right in nigeria. you dont know it all my brother. Luke 10:16-29 (New Living Translation)
16 Then he said to the disciples, “Anyone who accepts your message is also accepting me. And anyone who rejects you is rejecting me. And anyone who rejects me is rejecting God, who sent me.”
17 When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!”
18 “Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! 19 Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. 20 But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven. Romans 8:6-16 (New Living Translation)
6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. 7 For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. 8 That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.
9 But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) 10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life[a] because you have been made right with God. 11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
12 Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. 13 For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature,[c] you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children[d] of God. 15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children.[e] Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”[f] 16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. Ephesians 4:19-29 (New Living Translation)
19 They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity.
20 But that isn’t what you learned about Christ. 21 Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, 22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.
25 So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body. 26 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.”[a] Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
28 If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need. 29 Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. |

youngies: So much speculations
In a live radio program I monitored in Abuja this morning, the woman's Personal Assistant called in and made the following assertions:
1. The election process went on without a hitch until the point of collation.
2. The returning officers of about 5 LGs returned with results that were not authenticated by the duly accredited party agents
3. She asked why the results were not signed by party agents, the Returning Officers claimed that there were fracas in those areas and they were forced to take the ballot boxes to a police station for compilation
4. She asked who gave them the permission to compile the results at the police station, the RO answered, "nobody"
5. Afterwards, the REC refused to acknowledge all the results from those areas
6. Pressures and death threats started mounting immediately, PDP and AC thugs misconstrued her stance, while PDP was pressuring her to accept the results, AC was asking for the release of all the result collated
6. Meanwhile she was not provided with any form of security whatsoever by the police
7. She made frantic efforts to call Iwu, but no success; she called other INEC commissioners but they informed her that they were on their way to Akure. She had no help!
8. It was at this point she feigned sickness and escaped from Ekiti, the PA claimed he drove her out himself to Lagos
9. As she was still trying to reach Iwu, the next thing she heard was the press conference of Iwu where he claimed that She was "INDISPOSSED". This he did without checking on her first
10. Then more death threats started pouring in, she has no option than to throw in the towel instead of going against her beliefs
The PA said that at the time of the radio program (POLITICAL PLATFORM) this morning on RAY POWER that she was already on her way to Abuja to meet with her employers to clarify issues with them and also the presidency nigeria we hail thee wholex: Dora has been a power drunk since the awards she got at Nafdac got to her head, Adedibu had accused her of fighting because he didnt recommed her for mimisterial appointment , with all these happening , she is justifying adedibu's allegation.
Because of her thirst for political appointmnet , we all saw at every PDP presidential political rally during 2007 election campaign.
I used to be her fan b4 but for show of shame yesterday she has become part of them or may be she is just showing her real person
ONLY GOD KNOWS BETTER PERSON you are so right. is she not a member of the PDP to get that post? mogentle: @Kobojunkie and @ Moves You guys are just ranting since, i've been monitoring this Kobononsense contributions. Kobo was comparing Adenike Grange's resignation to Mrs Ayoka's, does that make sense at all? Must u compare just anything all because u want to discredit Mrs Ayoka's action. Hear this, Rome was not built in a day, wether u like it or not, the woman has done her best. It may not be so easy to come out to name who's who just like that, that can wait tilll after resignation. Meanwhile you guys cannot tell me she did not state the reason for her resignation in her letter. Do you expect her to just start to adress press coference like that? That will not be civil enough. It's a matter of one after the other. Now she has been invited to shed more light on her letter, from their she may tell them more that are not in the resignation letter.
So Kobojunkie, If you and I can even do the little that this woman has done(the action u are discrediting) i believe this Nigeria will surely change for better.
As for Dora, She is wearing a white dress and she did not mind playing with red oil, she should not complain of spots later in the day. trust her to play being a woman card. i am all for women rights in naija but i know too well how most women get jobs in that part of the world. i am talking willing "victims" here. that is if they can be called victims. I really don't know what to make of this now. you may be interested in this link. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-265982.0.html wish you luck He Left Me For Her: Need Your Prayers E Jo. « on: April 26, 2009, 03:52 AM » I am an African-American Woman who is going through the greatest pain of her life and I just need your advice and prayers please.
I was with a Nigerian (Yoruba) man for 8 years(since I was 21 years old-I'm 29 now), had his baby and was really vying for him to marry me(and he promised he would-he "just wasn't ready yet" . We lived together, paid bills together, had all our finances together, and I tried so hard to be the rock for this man to lean on when he was missing his 2 children back in Africa and for any other ills that came before him. I embraced his culture as if it was my own-cooked pepper soup and pounded yam, eba, egusi and everything else you can think of. I convinced him to move from NY to Atlanta so he could get his citizenship faster and get greater use out of his HVAC certification-with much protest, he finally agreed. He got his citizenship in less than a year after we got here and I did ALL of the work to get him clients for the HVAC business I helped him start. Last year alone he brought in about $52,000 in the business, and he was only doing it part-time. And to think, he was only a cab driver back in NYC. You know when I found out he was married? March 1st, 2009. You know when his wife and 2 children got here? March 30th, 2009. I was well aware of the possiblity of him bringing his "baby mother"(his words, not mine) here and that we, as a family, would help her get on her feet. I had NO IDEA that he was married to her and planned to leave me for her. His own Mom and sister in Nigeria got on the phone with me constantly and convinced me he wasn't with her, she moved on with her life and got a new man to quell any fears of anything like this happening. Little did I know, his family can't stand his wife, so they were hoping that he would leave her alone and be with me.
He now has an apartment on the other side of town with her and has temporary custody of our daughter. Do you know how difficult it was to tell my 6 year old "Sorry baby, Daddy is married"? I am in so much pain right now! And of course, in typical African/Muslim man fashion, he still says he loves me and wants me, and I was stupid enough to let him visit me on several occasions and sex me since this has all happened-and I may be pregnant. I don't know how to move on. I cry every day. I look out the window and expect him to come home any moment to tell me he made a big mistake and he's coming back home. I am so lonely-I miss my Baba.
And to add insult to injury-we recently got back our tax refund from last year. The IRS audited us, so we only got the 1st half of the money on time. The 1st check was over $2000-he used that to pay for their plane tickets. The 2nd half of the money came 2 weeks ago. He had promised me $1000-after all, he wouldn't have made that money if not for me. When it got here he told me $1000 is too much and he has bills to pay and get the kids clothes, etc. He paid about $200 worth of bills he left behind, gave me $45 to do some maintenance on my car and $20 for the week-and not a dime more.
Just the other day I saw his wife wearing brand-new, expensive, brand-name clothing. I asked him if he really spent my money on her-and all he could say was sorry and promise to pay me back. Here I am with a new job, won't get paid for 2 weeks, need gas money to get to and fro work, and $20. I pray everyday, but I just ask yall-total strangers-to pray for me too. Ask God to give me the stregnth to make it through this without going mad and killing him! I know God doesn't like ugly and karma comes back to you hard-but I am not dealing with my emotions in this very well.
Everybody around me keeps telling me I'm pretty and young and can still find another man but I didn't want another man-I wanted the one I had-he and my daughter was my family and I had planned to be with him for the rest of my natural life. He left me-a well-educated woman who did everything he ever desired plus made him money-for a woman who doesn't speak, read, or write English and can't even get a job in this country? And I found out that they were together for only 6 years back in Nigeria when we have been together for 8. Out of the kindness of my heart, I signed her up for a ESOL Literacy program so she can at least get the skills she needs to get employment-and do you know she refused? This is who he left me for? Help me God, |

another wicked product ( son) of a society that believes telling lies to get anything you want isnt too bad. God have mercy on all of us. IyaKadijat: I know you guys wanted an update so let me tell you what you guys gave me the strength to do:
Today he requested that I pick him up from where he was stranded at a car rental place. So I did-only if he promised to give me some money. When I got there, I didn't say anything to him, I just kept my eyes on the road. He kept trying to make small talk with me, but I only gave him 1 word answers. When we were almost to where he lived, he said "Why are we in such a rush to get me home? I thought you were going to drive me to your house?" I looked him dead in his eye and said "Not only can you not come into my house, but give me back my key." He hesitated for a moment and said "fine" and took the key off his keychain.
I then said "You are a married man. Let me repeat that for you: A MARRIED MAN. And no offense, but I don't mess with married men. It is against my religion and against my morals-you will not be the exception just because you are the father of my child. You will not have your cake and eat it too at my expense. You keep saying you love me-love wouldn't do what you did to me. That sounds more like hate to me-so you can save all the 'I love you's' for YOUR WIFE. It was messed up how you ended things, but the fact is you are married and I have to accept and respect that."
At that point, we pulled up to his house and I asked for him to send my daughter downstairs, stepped out the car, smoothed my clothes out, put my sunglasses on(and of course I looked like a million bucks today with my cute skirt and high-heel pumps on) and looked him up and down and said "Besides, do I look like I need to mess with a married man? Pu-leeeze!" Oh My God! You should have seen how tight his face was! LOL! I'm not going to lie, I got a great deal of satisfaction from that and I feel really liberated yall!
Just wanted to let yall know while I was saying all of that, all of you guys lecturing and advice popped up in my head and it really helped me out. THANK YOU! @ so sad all this happened. you now know why at 21 your parents felt you were too young to make these heavy decisions. the earlier you cut out this looser the better for you and your daughter. why did you think a man that can deceive you for 8yrs cant pull another one on you?. i dont like the idea of you allowing your girl stay with these people. no one is saying dont let the girl see her sad dad but living with them permanently is a BADDDD decision in my opinionyou wont like this i sincerely pray God forgive you too because you were both in a relationship you had no business being and sinning sleeping together. no one can judge you we are all human we sin daily but we all need to learn that every actions we take contrary to God's word almost always end in nightmares like this. we all need to go back on our knees and stop creating children out of wedlock. we will not get away with living the way we are yet expecting a better world. good luck to you and your girl may God's grace be available to you both. by the way is this ugly brother also religious too? knowing nigerian women like i do the woman was righteously waiting for him this past 8 yrs. hope he is worth the troubles coming unfaded: 4 pages, what a pity party yes a pity party mostly created by another ugly lying NIGERIAN black man. I JUST WISH YOU WERE UNDER AGE TO GET PEOPLE LIKE HIM LOCKED UP. HE DEFINATELY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF A YOUNG WOMAN |

MRbrownJAY: you are playing yourself, the reason why there is men like him treating you like that is because there are women like you who let them. if you are such a catch then you should have had no worries in removing that plague from your life FOREVER!!!!! let me give you an example of what you should have done 6MONTHS AGO (or whenever you met him): the first time he treated you like garbage/trash, you should have stop the vehicule and tell him straight to his face that he is not the kind of "friend" you wish to associate with and that he should delete your number and forget he ever met you. then you jump in a taxi (or okada in your case) and leave! YOU should then proceed by deleting his number and if he ever contact you again, hang up the phone and NEVER reply his text msgs. this thread is 127msg deep, if you dont get the picture by now then you never will. someone said dress the way you want to be addressed. act the way you want to be treated. having said that the boy is a big fool |
Family › Nigeria Has 74m Poor People -kpakol by JJYOU(op): 11:51am On Apr 28, 2009 |
Nigeria Has 74m Poor People -Kpakol CALABAR ––Dr. Magnus Kpakol, National Coordinator of the National Poverty Eradication Programme(NAPEP), has said 74 million Nigerians are poor. He said the figure, which was as at December 2008, dropped by one million from the 75 million in 2007. He made this known in a paper titled, “NAPEP Programmes As Enabler For Rapid Economic Development In The South South Region,” presented at the just-concluded South South Economic Summit in Calabar. He said the population of the country’s poor was 80 million in 1999. Kpakol, a Senior Special Assistant to the President on Poverty Alleviation, said that the poverty prevalence was more in the northern part of the country. According to him, the poverty rate in North West geo-political zone was 72.2 per cent of its population while in North East, it is 71.2 per cent of the population. “The percentage is 67 of the population in North Central,” he added and disclosed that the South East has the lowest poor population of 26.7 per cent. “The zone is followed by South South where the poor constitutes 35.1 per cent of its population and South West with 43.1 per cent,’’ he said. The NAPEP Coordinator attributed the poverty index in the country to weak local economy and said that the poverty rate would reduce “when we have rule of law and good governance.” Other factors that would also elevate people from the poverty stratum include, “strong and high quality development growth and mass participation in economic development,” he added. He challenged local government councils to commit N1 million into micro lending in each community in their areas. Kpakol stated that the reduction of the size of the poor population from 80 million in 1999 to 74 million in 2009 was due to various poverty alleviation programmes embarked by various governments. He charged states and local governments in the South South to evolve a common poverty reduction programme. http://www.nigerianobservernews.com/28042009/news/othernews2.html |
