I am proud to be a Nigerian but I am not proud of Nigeria. |
Kobojunkie:If you are unable to see the argument, then I must be mistaken in my assessment. Why would a man who says you dont need to wait for proper structures before implementation of one thing turn around to say that another thing cannot be implemented for lack of proper structures? Same person also saying it was a good thing to get indebted even if you have no proper reason/plan for the indebtedness! the label of sceptic was not general as I made clear that the sceticism relates to things Nigerian (you seem to see everything before you as something to confront in battle - I merely made the statement, not as an indictment). I do not want to get involved in any fights here over political issues. These things are plain enough for anyone to see! |
I will have to remind you of a discussion on democracy where I stated that Nigeria does not have the proper structures and public mentality for a western style democratic government. You made statements indicating that we should not wait for the structures before putting the practice into place in Nigeria. You also had a very interesting opinion on the world bank loan recently saying it was a good thing that Nigeria was getting a loan from the world bank, despite most people asking what will happen to the loan in the light of past loans which have brough nothing but further crippling indebtedness into the nation. With those 2 instances, I am beginning to believe that you will support practices/projects which have UK/American slant to them. I realise that you are a sceptic concerning policies in Nigeria, so am I. However, I believe that your sceticism may be borne out of an aversion for anything western rather than purely on conviction. . .or perhaps your convictions are such that anything western has to be good and anything that is Nigerian without a western touch has to be bad. Am I wrong? |
@kobojunkie, how exactly is it wrong to have a database? I know you wont oppose the idea if the guy said upfront that all the equipment to be used for gathering the database will be purchased from US and UK. |
desgiezd:he he he |
Its one of the risks involved in marrying someone who already has a child. She obviously knows she's doing the wrong thing but she is either unwilling or unable to change. I dont see what you can do about the situation again. She's 29. You're only going to have to go through the pain and persevere. Spare a thought for any man who decides to fall in love with her. |
nuzo:I am no pharisee. I only stated those things to show what I believe I also qualify for. Paul stated his credentials as well. . . is he also a pharisee for it? Pastors are actually supposed to feed the flock and be sheperds. They draw looters as well in the process of evangelising. However, glorification of looters will only serve the purpose of encouraging the flock to become looters in order that they might also gain the kind of popularity that looters seem to have with pastors. |
poster is right. They should be tried in Nigeria where the offence was committed. Why should the Nigerian government send them to Slovakia for trial? |
Someone needs to sack the president for running an inept government |
This is why a man needs to think well before getting into marriage. It's not just about what we call love because that so-called love tends to fade in the presence of other factors of marriage. A woman who's body is more important than her family and a man who places greater importance on having children than his wife's looks is not a good combination for marriage. Many little things that we overlook are important in marriage because the attitude of the other party towards things will be magnified when you get married. |
If you can point out anytime that I have disrespected anyone here who has not incited it, I will apologise to you unconditionally. The fact that you are unable to find any response to the above is enough for anyone with any level of intelligence to see what is really on here |
spikedcylinder:Have I ever asked anyone to respect me here? You are the ones looking for respect but you are always quick to insult people and then you claim one is disrespecting women. If my wife insults me everytime I disagree on something, we wont be married. I have never asked anyone to respect me here so I dont care if you disrespect me. I dare any evil seer here to show anyone that I have insulted without being insulted first! |
so tpia thinks that if men chase her, it is a sign that she will have a good married life!!! just confirmed your immaturity again. Wait till you find out. Time will tell |
Yar A'dullard is a Fulani man. . . WHEN THEN? |
tpia:When (if) you get a husband, tell him to be the stepping block for women with no direction in their lives and see where it gets him. |
Respect is earned. . . not demanded I dont subscribe to women being silly and acting like everything revolves around them and then expect me to act stupid in the name of respect. There's a difference between respect and stupidity. I respect people who respect themselves. If you can point out anytime that I have disrespected anyone here who has not incited it, I will apologise to you unconditionally. |
This will send signals to Mugabe so he will soon take lessons on how to build a fortified Aso rock in Zimbabwe. He might call it Zimba rock ![]() |
I hope some other pastors can take a leaf from Bakare and start doing what they profess rather than seeking human recognition all over the place |
I wonder if Pastor Adeboye will grant me half the audience he granted this man. . .I have tried to live my life devoid of fraudulent activities and stealing. I have not robbed any man. I have paid tithes (not very regularly, I must admit). I have helped many people in life without first depriving them of their rights and privileges. I have worked hard to get whatever I have. Why should I go to church and be relegated but when a thieving man goes to church, he gets all the attention? Why? Why? ![]() |
you dont want to do it, dont do it. I beg you not to fall for any trick. No guy stays with a girl just for the sex. . . if he does, there will never be anything serious in the relationship. . . it will just be about sex. I pray that you will have the strength to continue keeping yourself |
spikedcylinder:I have a vocal enough wife and I dont have a problem with her. Ohhhhhh of course she is not one to try and make me her slave at home. She knows that she is my God-given wife and I am her God-given husband. She does not seek to just please herself; she takes me and the children into consideration in what she does; she realises that her life is not just hers to live but that we are living our lives together. . . yes!!! that's why I chose to marry such a woman . . . . . .and NOT the kind which seems abundant here. |
FBS:This made me laugh ![]() |
Just want to add before the killers come on their usual attack: Britain's legal age of consent is 16 whereas in most places in America, if you have sex with a 16 yr old, you'll end up in jail. Hopefully, we can also vent some anger at the British ![]() |
If the legal age of marriage/consent is 12, all that needs to be done is to highlight this to our parliamentarians. There's no Nation where they still dont have some relics of their archaic laws. The difference is that they take steps to rectify such while we sit and cry and abuse everybody in sight. Everyone should put pen to paper and demand that their representatives push for a change to such a daft law. That's what democracy is! it's not just about screaming and abusing everything Nigerian. Other nations also had, and still have, some daft laws which they are changing as they progress. Meanwhile the father of those girls should be brought to shame one way or the other. ![]() |
I remember when I was a kid always thinking that our 2 houseboys were distant relatives |
This is one of the reasons Aso Rock was built as a fortified city! The other national dickheads in Africa will soon learn the trick of Aso Rock ![]() |
Kobojunkie:I hope my perception is actually at fault as you stated |
Of course I expected antagonism for that from Nairaland. Afterall this is an internet forum where many of the most vocal ones are the ones who live abroad. |
Abominable. Should the government not be arresting some people? What is the legal age of consent and what age is it legal to get married? |
I disagree. Women staying under their parents roof can also act too independent for the kind of relationship a long lasting marriage requires. Being independent has nothing to do with the attitude some of our women exude.
You tell me what you base that on. I already said my statement is based on what I have observed |
Australia shows its true international colours again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4gBVIHvGJk&feature=related |
Kobojunkie:I aksed because you seem to always want anything western and nothing Nigerian. . .yet you expect Nigeria to develop. Sorry, it digresses from the thread |
